Default Tactics for Diamond formation (4-1-2-1-2)

Hi guys and gals if there are any.

Does anyone play the diamond formation? and if so what tactics are best?

I have taken over a team with no real depth in CM position but am ok for DMs and AMs.

So ive already decided to go with the 4-1-2-1-2 formation, i just wondered what tactics are best.

My first team are all fairly equal in terms of player ratings, with the two forwards one or 2 points higher than the midfield and defense.

I'm only a newbee meself mate so it's up to you how much notice yer' wanna take of this advice but what I have found is that if I play with a playmaker and target man my strikers don't score. But when I opt not to use a target man and just use a playmaker. Sure enough my strikers score. I suppose it's common sense to have a playmaker if you are using an attacking midfielder. You are using your AM as a playmaker right?

Yes i was going to.
I just wondered what other tick boxes to use.
such as counter attack, men behind ball etc etc.
and is it worth attakin down the middle with an AM or attack down the flanks

i dont usually use the 4-4-2 diamond but usually i'd tick use play maker - which would be the -1- behind the two strikers.
also i would use counter attack but not men behind ball as imo 4-1-2-1-2 is more of an attacking formation. i would therefore use attacking or normal mentality.
for passing i would go for mixed or short and attacking style just mixed

hope this helps
