Transfer window in full swing, ive been away but tried to keep an eye out

Biggest move is Gustavo Scarpa joining Palmeiras. He had financial issues with Fluminense so they decided to let him go

Palmeiras line up next season is looking phenomenal!  Lucas Lima & Scarpa!

Mateus Vital joins Corinthians, another promising midfieler

Marlos Moreno joins Flamengo on loan from Man City - more competition for Vinicius Junior and Lincoln, Marlos was very coverted when he had his excellent spell in the Copa Lib for Ath Nacional, heralded as the future Winger for the National side, but stalled in Europe. He could be a flyer.

Anderson Martins has joined Sao Paulo to shore up there defence

In the past ive normally covered the Copa Sao Paulo and done extensive write ups on some of the highlights, i just havent had the time this year...

Flamengo are in the final - without Vincius Jr or Lincoln et al. There is a new kid on the block - Vitor Gabriel

Sao Paulo and Internacional are contesting the other semi final on the 22nd, a freak storm meant play was suspended at 1-1 and the rest of the game takes place today (23rd)

The big 'media darling' side this year is Portuguesa. Last year was a tiny club called Batatais, who got all the way to the final but lost to Corinthians. Portuguesa lost the semi to Flamengo, but their side was built in 7 months from mainly players deemed not good enough & cast off from the major sides in the Paulista region (Corinthians, Sao Paulo, Santos and Palmeiras are the powerhouses), by coach Marcio Zanardi, released from Corinthians after 7 years working with the junior categories. Their key players have been defender Matheus Brunetti (ex Sao Paulo) Cesinha - a flyer at left back (ex Corinthians) Tahwan at No10 & Matheus Franca in defence, both ex-Palmeiras.

Avai also had a strong showing, again built with cast offs from the bigger clubs; beating holders Corinthians in the last 16. One of their star players was Alisson at CF, formerly a right back for Flamengo

I havent gone into depth about some of the stars, but Jonas Toro ( Sao Paulo) & Brenner of Internacional has plundered 6 goals, Palmeiras could have another Gabriel Jesus if you believe the media (Fernando) plus a new wave of young jewels at Flamengo to watch out for... Hugo Moura, Bill & Wesley.

It looks like the Brazilian league is about to kick off in less than a week. América Mineiro, Internacional, Paraná and Ceará were promoted from last season's Division 2/Série B. I personally can't wait to see what this new season holds for us in terms of club & player competition. With the World Cup around the corner, a few Brazilian players playing in Brazil will fight hard to make the cut for Brazil's WC squad.

Can someone throw some light on the Brazilian states leagues/tournaments that just ended? Are they organised to prepare the clubs for the new season? Are they taken seriously by the clubs to scout talents or are they just friendly state tournaments? @-JMH-

Not too serious at all.

Gremio were on the verge of being relegated, then ended up winning

Its basically pros v amateur until the semi finals really, then the big clubs play the rivalry matches for bragging rights.

Some clubs just use youth/reserve players IE ATH PR, its mainly a tournament to maintain fitness, try new players, tactics out.

The Copa do Brasil and the Continential group games are taking place at the same time, so many stronger players get rested/rotated.

The Brazil squad has pretty much been named, i think the only outside bets at the moment are Luan and Arthur, possibly may not see anyone from Brasiliero make the cut.
