    Henri Lansbury

Football fantasy films are in vogue at the moment. First there was ‘There is Only One Jimmy Grimble’ followed by ‘Bend it Like Beckham’, then ‘Goal!’, ‘Goal 2!’ And, inevitably, ‘Goal 3!’. The name Lansbury is normally associated with a completely different genre but the last few months of the footballing life of young Henri could have been written by a Hollywood scriptwriter. Picture the scene: A 15 yearold boy turns up for training expecting a session with the youth team. Suddenly a first-team player is injured. The 15-year-old is then the name on the first-team manager’s lips. He is called for and rushed in to play alongside Cesc Fabregas in central midfield and facing him in the opposing team is a Brazilian World Cup winner and a French World Cup winner in attack. The youngster fits in well and at the final whistle his team is victorious. Fortunately for Henri Lansbury that was no fantasy, but areality. What’s more the youngster has already made the sequel several times over. He is now looking to play his role in a real blockbuster. “I’ve trained with the first team quite a few times now," said Lansbury. "The first time was a real shock, but I enjoyed it so much. Pat Rice told me to just play my own game and I would be OK and Kolo Toure said a few words to make me feel at ease. "All the players made me feel welcome and once the training match got underway, I felt really comfortable,” recalls Henri. “I enjoyed the fact that the other players knew where I was going to pass the ball. They are already playing the game that we in the youth team are aspiring to and so to be honest, it was a lot easier for me. "Playing with so many world-class players was an honour and it gave me a big confidence boost and I want that experience more and more.” Just like in the movies there are dramatic highs and lows. At the start of the season he was awarded the Player of the Tournament for the prestigious Amsterdam youth tournament. “That was another boost to my confidence but it was a bitter sweet experience because we lost in the Final,” he recalls. Unfortunately for the young Gunner, he experienced one of the lows last week. “I was carried off in the FA Youth Cup game against Bristol City. I got caught in a tackle and suffered ankle ligament damage. I’ll be out for about three weeks and so that could be worse, but it’s come at a bad time. We are all so fired up for the FA Youth Cup and I really wanted to be involved. "I was also hoping to get into the Carling Cup squad for the Final later this month. I made it for the Liverpool match and, to be honest, I even had hopes of getting on the pitch against Tottenham Hotspur. That will be my main target for next year,” declares Henri, who turned 16 in October. Henri started playing football when he was five years of age and was always ahead of his years. “I used to watch my dad play for Cockfosters and so was eager to get into a team of my own. I started by playing for the Under-7s of my local team, Potters Bar. I started in central midfield and that’s been my position ever since. I think being involved in a team from so young helps drive your ambition to improve and play at higher and higher levels. "I trained with Norwich City for a while before Roy Massey asked me to join Arsenal. I’ve been playing fairly regularly with the under-18s since I was 14 years of age,” he continues, “and I am now training a lot more with Steve Bould and the other Academy coaches. I believe that has helped me come on a lot. I feel stronger and fitter. Also, I feel that I am becoming a more all-round midfield player. That’s the way it has to be in today’s game. Players like Roy Keane, Patrick Vieira and Steven Gerrard have set the standards that we have to reach, and that’s certainly the sort of player that I aim to become." 2. Re: Gold Championship 9 - Match reports / Transfers thread Ajax 2-2 Club Brugge With their only being one match played in the league beforehand, the tie could've went either way. But it ended all square, Ajax the more disappointed. --- Antolin Alcaraz showed lightning quick pace, before then lashing home from fiteen yards putting Club Brugge one up after 6 minutes. Then ten minutes later, the Belgians doubled their lead as Jonathan Blondel drove the ball past Ajax keeper, Maarten Stekelenburg. Ajax then got their act together and began to play, as Philp knew they could, and on 32 minutes, they got themselves back into the contest. Defender Jeremie Brechet had his shot from an acute angle, deflected into the Brugge goal. --- ((Ex-Sochaux defender Jeremie Brechet finally began to live up to his price bag, getting Ajax back into the game, just before the half-time break)) --- So, into the second half and Ajax pushed, pushed, and pushed, and eventually got the equaliser through another of Philp's signings in Fernando Belluschi. Belluschi, also taking the MOM award, darted past the Brugge defence, and chipped the Belgian stopper Stijn Stijnen. --- ((Fernando Belluschi struck in the second half to get the equaliser for the Dutch side, against Belgian side Club Brugge)) --- After the match, Ross Philp credited his side for their spirited comeback. ''We went down to ten, with Hedwiges Maduro being sent off just after the break, and frankly, I couldn't see a way back for us. But credit to the boys, Fernando got the equaliser and to be honest, we were unlucky not to take the three points. Anyway, next match, at home to Sparta Rotterdam.'' --- ((Dutch starlet Hedwiges Maduro let his team-mates down after being sent off on 49 minutes. He has been performing well however, after the departure of Heitinga))

Re: English Championship 1 SPURS MANAGER RETURNS!!!!!!!!! After a few months absence the Spurs manager has returned to White Hart Lane to find this side in a relegation battle When asked where he has been while his side has went from one of the favorites for promotion to a relegation side he replied "One minute I was having a drink in the club's hospitality suit with the chairman, the next thing I know I'm waking up in Mexico with a local barmaid and no way of getting home . Eventually, after hitch-hiking across 4 continents I finally made it back to find the club in a relegation battle. Things are going to change from now on, a***s are going to be kicked so we get back to the place that this club should be at. That means back above Sheffield United in the league table."

  10. Re: Gold Championship 9 - Match reports / Transfers thread Zaragoza's second match is against Fc barcelona and the media predicted a white wash as barcelona have a great team compared to zaragozas Match Report in the opening 35 minutes Fc barcelona really took it to Zaragoza and they had 10 shots in that opening 35 minutes then zaragoza woke up and had the ball ,zipping it around for 3 minutes with out barcelon touching the ball and thats when the opening goal was scored, and inch perfect cross from aimar was met by a towering Milito who nodded home the goal. and zaragoza carried on thier domination until the half time whistle but it was only 1-0 to zaragoza at half time. zaragoza began the second half the way they finished it but barcelona caught them on the break when in the 55th minute henry took advantage of a poor back pass and slotted 1 past the keeper to make it 1-1.3 minutes later diego milito restored zaragozas 1 goal lead when he used his pace and strengh to force his way into the box and smash 1 into the top corner but straight from the kick of ruud van nistlerooy hit it early to leave the keeper standing,2-2,it has been a brillient match so far but a winner was needed from both sides and zaragoza got it in the 79th minute when Zapater scored an amazing goal and the commentator decribed him as on fire.and it finished that way as zaragoza cause a major upset and puts barcelona 19th in the league. 2-3 After The match we caught up with Gazza And he had this 2 say "woahh wt a match, i canot believe it,weve beat fc barcelona and go 4th in the league,im taking my boys to tenerife for the week, stuff training, thesse lads deserve it,i could just kiss them theyve done me soo proud, and the defence,,,oh god they are unbelievible, well done barcelona you gave us a great match,im soo excited for the season ahead ,bring on Almería" Diego Milito celebrating his 2nd goal against fc barcelona

  11. Re: Gold Championship 8 - Transfers, Rumors & Match Reports Dunfermline 1-1 Celtic Celtic dropped a disappointing two points, as they were held to a 1-1 draw at East End Park. A late Crawford goal for the Pars, cancelled out Ebi Smolarek's opener, on 26 minutes. --- Dunfermline started off the better, testing Celtic stopper Artur Boruc, countless times in the first twenty-five minutes. After 26 minutes, Celtic took the lead through on-fire striker Ebi Smolarek. The Pole's miss-hit shot somehow squirmed under the body of Dunfermline keeper Paul Gallacher. --- ((Celtic forward Ebi Smolarek got his seventh goal in all competitions for his club. After moving from Santander he really has made an emphatic impact)) --- The second half saw both sides go close, as Artur Boruc again was on top form. Stranzl and Brown went close for the visitors, while Eduardo Ledesma and Darren Young narrowly missed for the hosts. But with ten minutes left, Stevie Crawford grabbed what was effectively a well-deserved equaliser. His foraging run was followed by a strike for the scrapbook. --- Afterwards, Celtic boss Ross Philp was disappointed with his stars - ''We were totally dominated and we looked at this match as a guaranteed three points to set is up for the SMFA Champs Cup tie against Roma this Friday. But it wasn't to be, and although they deserved a point, we really could've and probably should've left with the maximum points.'' --- Celtic 33(+23) Motherwell 31(+13) ----------------- Hearts 28(+13) Kilmarnock 28(+12) Hibernian 28(+9) Motherwell kept up the chase, closing the gap to two points between them and leaders Celtic. Hearts hammered Kilmarnock 4-0 at Tynecastle, while Hibernian moved up into contention of a top-two place, with a 3-1 win at home over Aberdeen. Rangers continue to get back on track, winning 4-1 at home to Dundee. --- Celtic yesterday completed a deal for midfielder Edgar Mejia, an exciting 19-year old who joined from Guadalajara for £7,200,000. The youngster who can also play in defence has settled in so far at the club.

Re: Gold Championship 7 CSKA Moskva = Eastern Europe League Champions!!!! These were the jubilant scenes after CSKA's 2-1 victory over Dnipro to guarantee their status as Eastern Euroupe League Champions. It has been a good season for CSKA, recording just 3 league defeats all season. Also, CSKA managed to escaper a very tough group in the Champions League, despite getting knocked out by finalists Liverpool in the next round. CSKA's group contained Italian giants Internazionale, Spanish Champions Real Madrid and French side Tolouse. Here is the group D final table: 1 Internazionale 6 5 0 1 18 7 11 15 2 CSKA MOSKVA 6 3 1 2 13 11 2 10 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3 Toulouse 6 1 2 3 8 14 -6 5 4 Real Madrid 6 0 3 3 7 14 -7 3 There has been alot of key players in CSKA's sucess this season. Star stirker Vagner Love has been key, scoring 33 goals in all compettitions this season and notably CSKA Moskva's player of the season. Second in the club player of the season goes to Vagner Love's fellow Brazillian, Daniel Carvalho. Carvalho has been crucial in attack with his clever passes and good finishing. The list of great performers could go on and on for CSKA but third goes to Russian goalie Igor Akinfeev. He has been solid all season, playing in every game for the club. Alright, after 1 year and 9 months getting on the top managers list for the first time shouldn´t be something to be proud of, but hey, why shouldn´t I be happy, I´m not a noob anymore... Of course, most of the people with whom I´d like to share that goal I´ve reached are now gone, but, at least I got Sam and Bobo still here Anyway....as you might guess this is a completely useless thread, so no need to reply to it, lol. The strike force at Barcelona is now a very competitive one with Henry,Eto,Messi and Owen all competing for a starting place. Kev said goals are what i expect to get us out of div 2 and Barcelona will be a very attacking side in this coming season:)

  26. Re: Gold Championship 9 - Match reports / Transfers thread Internazionale 4-1 Reggina Internazionale finally managed to pick up their first win of the season with a 4-1 demolition over unmanaged Reggina. The Italian champions were under pressure after their 5-3 lost against Juventus, and they did live up to expectations. Joe Cole started things off with a neat finish, a fantastic start to his Internazionale career. However, their lead only lasted 3 minuted when Reggina equalized through Hallfredsson. Inter Milan struck again where Santiago Solari placed a shot past the keeper. And then on the 16th minute, an easy finish for Zlatan Ibrahamovic made it 3-1 and 2 goals for the Swede. Into the second half, and on the 47th minute Santiago Solari struck again to make it 4-1. A fantastic display by the Italians left Sparky delighted; "We were under pressure, we needed to win. The lads have done it and I couldn't be more proud" "It was nice to see Joe Cole grabbing a goal on his debut, we were worried about how he would adapt, and he proved it that he can play anywhere in the world!" The win put Internazionale 8th place, with Geboa being shockingly first! Fantastic Start To Inter Career

  35. Re: International Management International Setups: Open only to Gold Members Should not be based on manager ratings because ratings go up for the time you have been. So for example Manager 1 had come before Manager 2. Manager 1's rep was 135 and Manager 2's rep was 95. And Manager 2 was a better manager then Manager 1. And Manager 1 got a team like Argentina and Manager 2 got a team like Croatia. That would be unfair. So it should be done like the WC's and EC's. They should be made once a day and around 5 o'clock. 1 TEAM PER GOLD MEMBER.(even if the guy has 2 gold accounts) 20-30 teams in the european. 10-15 teams in african, oceanic and asian. 10-15 teams in americas. And then for Tournaments we could have Euro Cup(qualifiers) Cup for Africa, Asia and Oceana and a Americas Cup(no qualifiers). And then a World Cup every 2 Seasons, maybe Qualifiers For Example: Season 1= World Cup. Season 2= Euro Cup, Africa, Asia and Oceanic cup. Season 3= World Cup. Season 4= Euro Cup, Africa, Asia and Oceanic cip.

"When you have a bad day at the office, you come to Southend." Martin Jol indulges in some seaside therapy as he watches Southend v Carlisle. "I couldn't find London on a map if they didn't have the names of the countries. I swear to God. I don't know what nothing is. I know Italy looks like a boot. I know (Washington Redskins linebacker) London Fletcher. We did a football camp together. So I know him. That's the closest thing I know to London. He's black, so I'm sure he's not from London. I'm sure that's a coincidental name." Miami Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder ahead of the clash with the New York Giants at Wembley. Americans - gotta love 'em. "We went to a Celtic game and got stuff thrown at us and booed because we had beaten their youth team and they announced it over the PA." 40. Re: What if?--Offical thread What?! New man at Spurs, not Ramos! Today, in a bizarre turn of events, Juve_fan has been named as the new Spurs boss, not Juande Ramos! Reasons are unknown for this shock appointment, but one thing is for sure, Juve_fan is going to have to win over the supporters, who are angry that the chairman would let this manager to this club. The official spokesman for the supporters club said this: "We feel that, although Juve_fan is a top manager, he is not the right man to bring silverware tp Spurs, and take the club to the next level. We are willing to give him a chance though, and we will back him through everything that he does." The new manager has already placed Steed Malbranque on the transfer list for 14m, although this price could be lowered as Spurs are looking for a right winger, and could use him in a trade. Also, Paul Robinson may be allowed to leave the club, but only if Juve_fan receives a good enough offer or can get a young keeper to replace Robinson. Spurs are also looking for a left back. ^^Malbranque could be leaving the club in the near future!

INJURIES: DECO(barcelona) ZE ROBERTO(benfica) Real Madrid will fancy there chances at unmanaged Fenerbache who are 17th with the spanish side only defeated once in there last six. German Changes

Re: German Changes Hi Millzy, Some very valid shouts there, although I disagree with a couple of them! Still, a great informative post so REP for you FROM ME buddy!!! Marko Pantelic 90 - 91 Form for Serbia is patchy at best, but at club level he's on fire. 5 goals in 9 games at an average mid-table side, Hertha Berlin, could spell an increase for the Serb. He's scored more this season than 91-rated German revelation Mario Gomez. Pantelic could go to 91 but I doubt it. He deserves his 90, he is of international class so I would expect him to score a few goals in the BL. He's averaged 10 or more per season for a number of years and it was my constant protests to SM and Fraser at the time which led to his rise from 89 to 90. My prediction: 50/50 - borderline - rise potential. Serdar Tasci and Sami Khedira 88 - 89 Young Germans on fire at league champions Stuttgart. They've been regular starters in a team who could have a 90-rated player in every position, they have to be increased surely. Tasci has started 10 games at the back and scored once, with Khedira starting 9 games in attacking midfield, also scoring once. I disagree with this recommendation. Yes, both were rewarded with a full cap for Germany at international level in a friendly earlier on this year but along with the rest of the Stuttgart team, they have really struggled. Khedira has warmed the bench on a number of occasions and Tasci was injured pre-season and hasn't rediscovered the same form that made him hit the headlines last term. My prediction: I think both with stay were they are. Jermaine Jones 82 - 87/88 25-year-old German who was considered a future world superstar a number of years ago before fading away with a mid-table team has come good after being signed by Schalke. He's started 8 games for the 5th placed side, and looked steady at right-midfield, Jones is a definite increase to at least 87 as he's been a regular in a team where 90's are common place. The german with the english name looks certain to increase by AT LEAST 5 to 87, possibly higher especially as he's been named as a fringe international by Joachim Loew recently and could well make his debut with Germany now already qualified for Euro 2008 . The former Frankfurt captain has become a regular for Schalke after his transfer at the end of last season and in way undervalued at 82. My Prediction: 88 is on the cards! Benedikt Howedes 74 - 78/79 Young 19-year-old German got his break with Schalke with a full 90 minutes against Karlsruhe. A league start must mean an increase of some sorts, and at this level he should increase to at least 78. One for the future possibly. He only made his debut a few weeks ago, that's when he was added to the DB @ 74. Now you want him to increase because of his debut performance?? Maybe at the end of the season, if he plays a few more games. Apparently a talented youngster, but mid 70's seems alright to me for the time being. My prediction - No change at next German ratings review! Ivan Rakitic 85 - 88/89 Brilliant young Croatian playmaker, and has the maturity and vision of a 27-year-old, with the flair and energy of the 19-year-old he is. Featured in 10 games this season, starting 8 and scoring 2 goals in the process, this little wizard is a definite increase to at least 88, as he is playing for a quality side, Schalke. Croatian international that has found the net quite a few times this season already. Despite only being 19 yrs of age, he's become the Schalke playmaker and after a slow start has become a regular, even at CL level. My prediction: Deserves and needs an increase to 87 or 88 Gerald Asamoah 87 - 88 The 29-year-old has shown good form this year, being the regular strike partner of Kevin Kuranyi up front for Schalke, and grabbing 3 goals in his 8 appearances this year. Expected to increase at least one point. He is no longer a german international, I personally think his best days are behind him. He is the german version of Emile Heskey and although he may currently be partnering Kuranyi up front at Schalke he is certainly not in the same class. For me the 1 point increase is a borderline call. My prediction: He will stay at 87, maybe he'll just scrape into the 88 category but no higher. Alexander Farnerud 84 - 86/87 23-year-old Swedich forward/midfielder who's managed to grab 9 appearances for Stuttgart this year, including 3 starts. Has played more than Antonio Da Silva (Rated 88) and Silvio Meissner (Rated 86) this year, all of whom play for the same side, which means Farnerud has to increase. He is underrated for sure, having said that he hasn't set the world on fire or made ANY sort of impact on the Stuttgart team. Same can be said for Basturk (Fraser, if you read this - I'm eating my pie so get stuffed! ). Silvio Meissner is semi-retired and spent most of last season on loan to 2nd Div Kaiserslautern and Da Silva had injury issues (I think) at the beginning of the campaign so not a great comparisson but all that aside, I think he should be 85 or 86. My prediction: He'll hit the 86 mark Karlsruhe - Whole Squad Promoted from Bundesliga 2 last season, and have been excellent this season, currently lying 4th after 10/11 games - above the likes of Schalke and Stuttgart. This is mainly due to their never-say-die attitude and brilliant work ethic. Some of their players who deserve an increase are: Tamas Hajnal 86 - 88 - Hungarian attacking midfielder who's currently Karlsruhe's top goalscorer with 3 goals. Due an increase of around 2 due to his excellent form, and at only 26-years-old he has a few good years left to further his career. Andreas Gorlitz 83 - 86/87 - 25-year-old German full-back on loan from Bayern Munich has performed very well for Karlsruhe and should deserve a good increase considering he has started 9/10 games for a side placed 4th. Gorlitz has attacked very well, supporting his wingers and supplying the forwards with some good crosses. Timo Staffeldt 80 - 83/84 - 23-year-old German central midfielder who has appeared 7 times this season for Karlsruhe, although only one start. At this level a squad-player making as many appearances as Staffeldt has must increase to at least 83. Michael Mutzel 82 - 87 - Regular for Karlshruhe, who has started all 10 games this season. Mutzel is 28-years-old and is a central midfielder and with the amount of games he has played, he must surely increase to around the 87 mark. Agree, the entire Karlsruhe squad is OVERPERFORMING at present and I think most players/starters will receive an increase. The key players should all be 85-88 imho, with Hajnal being the standout so far this season but don't forget about Markus Miller, the GK My prediction: Karlsruhe squad to rise and Hajnal to hit 89!! Boubacar Sanogo 88 - 90/91 and Hugo Almeida 87 - 90 Werder Bremen strike partners Sanogo and Almeida have been on fire this season, with Sanogo grabbing 6 goals in 9 appearances and Almeida getting 5 in 9. The goalscoring record says it all, these strikers have to have their ratings increased. Agree, they are both enjoying a great season. They seem to have gelled well and flourished since the departure of Miro Klose and the career-crippling injury to Aaron Hunt. Bremen is even doing well at CL level, and with both players scoring on the european stage, they deserve to hit 90. My prediction: Both to increase to 90 Mike Hanke 88 - 89/90 23-year-old German international has scored 4 goals in 10 games for Hannover, who are an average side at best. Similar situation to Pantelic, Hanke must increase to at least 89. Fair shout, he is indeed still part of the german squad but very much down the pecking order of strikers. After Klose, Kuranyi, Gomez, Podolski, he is on par with Schlaudraff, Helmes, Neuville imho. My prediction: He is a chance at an 89 ... 70/30 chance There are many more, but I'll leave them for others to dig out. Others that have already been mentioned or should have been are: L. Toni (94->95) M. Klose (94->95) F. Ribery (92->93) C. Pander (86->89) D. Jarolim (89->90) C. Lell (85->87) M. Petric (89->90) Van Der Vaart (93->94) Diego Ribas (93->94) Hamit Altintop (89-91) R. Adler (87-89) Ze Roberto (92-93)

  50. Re: Survivor Setup Official Thread Issue 5 is slightly delayed in coming but finally arrives. Todays edition sees for the first time manager reactions to there games on MD16 as well as catching up with Milan man in charge Razz Hooley and also we see how George has got on in his first couple of games at CSKA. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- George has given himself a tough task at CSKA and hasnt got off to the best of starts as he awaits his sides first win. Q. Your first league game didnt go to plan, what do you tell your side in preperation for the visit of Bayern on sunday who are doing well currently? Just to forget the past two games, enjoy it and play to the best of their ability. I'm not to worried at all with the form of any of them as it's a big change that has just happened. However, I'm definitely hoping to get our first win tomorrow and we go into the game targeting a win, which we will do every game. Q. You made your first signing this week as CSKA boss bringing in the hard to pronounce BILYALETDINOV, how important was he for you to splash out a club record £11m for? Very important, as I said previously the aim is to get the average age down, and the midfield is the biggest culprit. Bilyaletdinov is young, and talented so he fits what we wanted perfectly especially with the exchange of two of our older players in the deal. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Matchday 16 results Lyon 1 - 1 Villarreal Teje: The game against Villarreal was very even but I think that after Capdevila's red card we should have been able to win it. Although we equalized 12 minutes before the end of the match I think it was 2 points lost due to the fact that it was a home game and we had 1 more man on the field for 15 minutes. Dan Payne:The game started well for us and I was pleased with the start we made. We got a goal after good pressing and a follow up from Riquelme and I was pleased to go in 1-0 up at half time. A fair result for both sides and we played well. We will build on that! Arsenal 1 - 5 Internazionale Pthame: One word: Shocking. There's no more to that. Ivan Sakoman: We have finally found our tactics and some jokers from the bench. We also have some injured players but we have long bench so it didnt distract us. Manchester United 2 - 0 Valencia No comments from both managers Bayern Munchen 1 - 1 Roma No comment from Oobeee Baseball Furie: i expected a win but at the end of the day a point is a point. I will be hoping to win this weekend. Sevilla 0 - 3 Milan Kevche: a bad defeat at home but not the end of the world or Sevilla's title challange.I decided to give Freddie Kanoute a bit of a rest and put him on as sub on 75mins.Looking back this was our downfall as the game was effectully over by then and we missed our top striker to convert our superior shots on goals!! No comment from Razza Chelsea 0 - 0 Barcelona Alan Neller: Very tight game ,Robbie M came for the point and got the result he was after,he played a 4411 with only one up front on his own,the forwards Barca have it proved safety was his first option ,i am only 7 points still behind top place with plenty of games to go,still in race so happy . RobbieM: It was a tough match against Chelsea and everything was even in terms of possession and shots on goal so its easy to see why it was a goaless draw but it could've gone either way. Sammy Eto'o missed a glorious chance in the 2nd minute where his shot hit the crossbar too. Obviously we were missing 3 key players and they are probably the difference between a draw and a win for us in this sort of match. Fenerbahçe 2 - 2 Shakhtar Donetsk Fenerbache are currently managerless. Wolfcatt: After recent results this was a game I thought we were capable of winning. But we came from behind twice to get a draw and keep us in 10th place which the aim is to finish in the top 10 this season. Juventus 4 - 1 CSKA Moskva Danny Williams: Well the game was very satisfying and I hope for similar results in the near future,It looked like we were a different team, every player got on the scoresheet!!..Well almost George: Hard to say really, I was shocked with it even though we had a lot of players rested. Obviously Juve deserved to win but maybe not by so many. Maybe it's the tactics so they might be changed for tomorrow. Real Madrid 3 - 1 FC Schalke Matt Jenkins: A happy man after this game, it was the first league game since i took charge of the club, goals in the first 15 minutes by Andrei ARSHAVIN (Madrid) and Jonathan DE GUZMAN (FC Schalke) saw the game get off to a good start and then on the 41st minute Raul (Madrid) made sure Madrid went into the second half infront. The second half was full of chances from both teams and in the 77th minute Ruud VAN NISTELROOY (Madrid) finished the game off with a stunning goal. Leam Steve: Dissapointed for sure, i knew Madrid would be out to impress there new boss and they did there job. I was pleased with De Guzman's debut grabbing our goal. Werder Bremen 1 - 0 Benfica Dino Rezek: I can just say that some of my key players were tired so i putted some of my reserve players and i won the match finally.so that is it. Col: We had a bad game but hat's off to Bremen who had a man sent off but still won, its now 2 defeats in a row but we can get back to winning ways with a bit of luck on sunday at home to chelsea ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Raz Hooley has finally built a Milan side that looks like it can compete with the big boys, after his sides win over Sevilla we spoke to Razz about his hopes for the future. Q. You finally got your man in Wesley Sneijder after a week of negotiations with Schalke, your chairman values him at £26m how important was he to your ambitions? Wesley was someone I have been looking at for a long time. Centre midfield is a position that I had quite a bit of depth anyway, but I needed someone more attackingly minded to partner Essien. The negotiations were long-winded but I am pleased that both my chairman and the Schalke chairman came to an agreement, and Wesley has now joined. Q. One defeat in eleven, a shield semi final to look forward too and third in the league, it must be nice being Raz at Milan currently? It's turning out to be a great season. Its still all there to be won, but its also there to be lost. Whatever the outcome this season I will be extremely happy with my players' performances and attitude on and off the pitch. Morale is high, and theres plenty of ability on the bench if I ever need to make some changes. John Terry is certainly being missed, but will be fit again in a few weeks time and we will then be back to full strength for the run in at the end of the season. Weve all got our fingers crossed that we can maintain this form and we could maybe, just maybe land ourselves a double. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Many transfer moves this week and its been busy especially for Leam Steve and Schalke, having finally agreed a price with Milan for Sneijder, they also snapped up Pavel Pardo to replace the dutchman. Barcelona secured the sevices of striker Antonio Di Natale but with Henry and Eto'o in the side its to be seen how the Italian will feature. Roma spend £11,000,000 on striker Benni McCarthy who should form a lethal partnership with Francesco Totti. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tonights cup semi final results sees a final contested between Fenerbache and Barcelona. Unluckily for Valencia and Shakhtar they were so near yet so far. Neither side has won before so a new name on the cup come 6th November. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
