    Championship Thread

Re: Championship Thread Ipswich Town 0-0 Barnsley Yet again a very dissapointing less than 20k crowd witnessed Towns first drop of a few points at home this season. Right from the off,The supporters were hesitant, you could feel it and i guess the players also felt it too. It was a game that i was pretty much expecting.Barnsley are a side that are working for each other in all departments. Town were found guilty of not only throwing away easy possession, but also not quick enough in getting to the second loose ball. Magilton started this game by resting Garvan and in my opinion this has been long overdue. Williams had a fair game for one still trying to get to full match fitness. His midfield partner Miller made several school boy errors that put Town right under pressure. I was hoping that Tommy would step up and play like a true battler, He was applying some effort, but in truth, certainly for me he goes missing too often. Harding and Wright were both busy.Wright does like comming forward and i like that in a full back. He does give one cause to concern however when under pressure. He was caught in possesion far too often today and needs to play the simple ball instead of looking for that 60 yard pass that only true great players can perform. Some may say that Bruce had a good game, I do not believe he did. Dont get me wrong,he didnt play badly,In fact some of his timely interceptions were class.I did note and lost count however the ammount of times he hoofed the ball back to the opposition. Jason (Its just like watching Brazil) DeVos was once again a rock at the back. His little back heel whilst under pressure was so out of character for him.Certainly gave us something to sing about in the Northstand!! Walters had your typical Walters sort of game that we have come to expect. His close ball control is improving and his strength on the ball is a pleasure to watch, worth the entrance money alone. Pablo was always getting himself into the right places to threaten a goal. The ball just wouldnt sit for him to unleash a shot. His determination to win a lost cause ball from the touch line and regain possesion was pure greatness that Pablo has.He is such a tallented player whenever in this sort of mood. Starting with Alan Lee was a mistake after all....He was clearly unhappy and carrying an injury. He couldnt jump or wouldnt jump, whatever it was,I was pleased that he was taken off before too much abuse was aimed at him. Haynes came on and like a typical Haynes wanted to get involved stright away.Another poster has made a comment that Haynes is an impact player best suited to the last 20 mins or so.On todays performance,I have to concur with that. He has lots of pace,a good eye for goal, but lacks that close control needed to finnish it off. Billy Clarke on the left mid was doing okay in spurts....He was not quite offering enough wide options for me today, prefering to play further in field. He did make better use of the ball than what he has shown previously and that can only be a positive in his development. Whilst Lee was on the field,I felt that we were playing with 10 men. When he went off my optimism was restored for we were now playing with 11v11. This all changed when Magilton took of Clarke and replaced him with Roberts........so i thought. I am still not convinced that Roberts is capable of making the step up to this level,However i have to accept that today he did show us that he can put some decient balls into some dangerous places. It is fair to say that Roberts still has a long way to go to fully convince the PR faithfull that he can cut it. My man of the match being contested with Jason(its just like watching Brazil) DeVos but has to be Alexanda.Several good saves, commanding his area and reasonable distribution of the ball. We dropped two points today for we were at home and expected to win. I am none too dissapointed with the resault or for that matter the performance. Town are not going to win every game 6-0.I know that this may come as a bit of a shock to some of you,but there are some better prepared sides in this division and Barnsley are one of them. We now move on to Brizzle City on Tues nite.....This is a tough one,I cant see a repeat of the 6-0 scoreline several weeks ago, though i will take a one nill win for the Town

Re: More Benefits For People With Higher Reps This is a subject I have brought up a number of times and it all relates to gold member's too. I feel that Gold Champs should have barriers for those who are caught cheating. For example if your a GM and you are caught cheating and are under 40 rep points then I think you should be banned from joining GC's until your 40+ I understand that they are paying customers but so are the other 300 people in the setup that can play the game without cheating. Its just not right, its like favouring a cheat to the other 300 people who dont. I think that there should be more teams aloud on an account depending on your rep. Right now its something like this: 40 - 45 = 1 team. 45-75 = 2 teams. 75+ = 3 teams. I think there should be more add on's if your a gold member especially. Even if you already have the 10 teams etc. 75-100 if your a gold member = 11 teams. 100-150 = 12 teams. I also read that rep goes to level 200 and then thats the max levels you can go up although your rep may still go up and because of that it should be: 150-200 = 13 teams. Also if you buy a custom setup its an extra team like you get currently. I think the normal member status should remain that you get 3 clubs max but being a paying member and good rep should get you extra spaces for teams. I think SM are too easy on cheats. Paying customer or not letting a cheater remain in a setup with hundreds of playing customer's is so wrong its stupid.

    Jerome Boateng

Impressed? No? 6 starts this season, and has been a real revelation while Kompany is out through suspension and I have a feeling if he keeps up the good form he may well continue even while Kompany is back. van der Vaart may be the one catching the headlines with his sensational form, but at only 19 years old, and a rather low rating of 83 and a value of around 3.7mil, he could be a super signing. Please Please please buy him, you WILL gain a healthy profit. I want reps for this As for where me might go in terms of ratings, Mathijsen is rated 90, Kompany=90, Atouba is 87, so is Reinhardt, etc. so Id expect him to move to at least an 87 next round too, which means his general value could almost double (6.3mil). Once again, if you have around 4-5mil to spare, BUY HIM.

Re: Gold Championship 8 - Transfers, Rumors & Match Reports CELTIC NEWS Looking to keep up the unbeaten home run, Celtic took on Livingston on Wednesday: With the emphatic win, the Scottish League looked like this as both Motherwell and Hearts won again: Celtic 3-1 Liverpool Celtic tonight, in order to progress needed to defeat Liverpool at Celtic Park, and had to hope that Sao Paolo avoided defeat in Rome, Italy. With a suspension and a lot of cup tied players, Ross Philp was still able to field a strong side to take on the Reds. In the 12th minute, a terrible fumble by the keeper gifted Henrique Ewerthon an easy chance as Celtic got a priceless lead in this important match for Philp's men. The goal settled the players and the fans, and only one minute later, Celtic went two ahead as a clever pass took out the Liverpool defence and Santos Mozart rifled in his strike off the woodwork. Celtic were all over Liverpool at this stage and Aiden McGeady struck the crossbar before Henrique Ewerthon headed over the bar. Only ten minutes after the break, Henrique Ewerthon put Celtic three goals up as he finished at the second attempt with a toe-poke. Liverpool looked to force a comeback with a 63rd minute goal from Javier Mascherano as he volleyed past the motionless Artur Boruc in the Celtic goal. Harry Kewell, Peter Crouch and Andriy Voronin went close for the visitors without troubling Boruc, as Aiden McGeady and Santos Mozart almost extended the lead for the home side as they guaranteed a place in next round. With Sao Paolo defeating Roma 3-1 in Italy, the Group H table ended like so: Celtic were awarded or some would say punished, with a knockout stage tie against Chelsea. Celtic will travel to Stamford Bridge to face George's London side (who got through a group with Levski, Sevilla and Marseille) on Friday 14th December...

Re: Survivor Setup Official Thread Its hard to ignore Barcelona manager RobbieM. His side have led for most of the season but after defeat to Manchester United the teams behind had a chance to catch up. We spoke with RM after a bittersweet victory over Fenerbache who beat them in the cup final. Victory over Fenerbache, sweet revenge? Hi Steve, Yeah you could say its sweet revenge however I'd say its 3 points on the board and as the season gets closer and closer towards the end its getting really tight at the top too! I thought we played well tonight, it was good technically sound football with strong attacking rhythm and clever defending when we didn't have the ball so I'm glad with the effort of my boys.Theres no easy games in this league but who of your last eleven are you likely to be worried about? Who are we worried about? There's some big games there, some real six pointers if you will (Rob points out later on that he hates that term!) so we will take it one game at a time and hope good results against the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United can set up a piece of silverware for barca. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cols had his ups and downs with Benfica, now back on the up the once early leaders of the setup are trying to get back into the hunt. Great win over Shakhtar with three points seperating you in 4th and 11th how important was this win over one of the sides in that pack? Yes it was a big win for us the league is so tight nobody can afford to take there foot of the gas You had a great start then a slightly troublesome middle, you must be pleased to be 4th or do you see Benfica higher up? Could never had imagined a start like we had but then like all teams do we hit a bad spell. To be in 4th place at this stage is great but with 11 games to go there still a lot of football to be played With a game against Real Madrid coming up in a couple of games will you be resting the bigger players for that one? Not sure about that at the moment but we have good squad and with Inzaghi back after a long time out he may get a run out in 1 of the next 2 games ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The setups newest recruit has wasted no time getting Roma up the table and into a better position. Jinky has a confidence around him that can only adhere to the Roma faithful. SW spoke to 'the one' before there game with Shakhtar How are you enjoying life at Roma? Life at Roma is treating me well whats not to enjoy my team are now fireing on all cylinders after disapointing performaces at Moscow and Villareal. We are currently unbeating in 5 scoring a impressive 15 goals in the process. The chairman Mr.Sensi has backed me and gave me his blessing to continue spending but I feel we have a passionate squad that understand the importance of this club and that give 110% every game . I so far have been very impressed with our new recruits especially Escudero who has been putting in outstanding performances while bagging 2 goals in 3 games. You like to be known as the special one amongst other superlatives and so far no one can say your not, whats been your secret so far? Just to clear things up I don't regard myself as the special one just (TheOne). My secret to sucess is to always do my homework and to buy players that have great abilty and tremendous potential other than that I basically just get my players in the right mental psyche before each and every match. 1 more point I would like to get across is that Roma deserve sucess and no 1 I repeat no 1 will stand in this clubs way. Thank you very much for taking the time to interview me it must have been a pleasure. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SUNDAYS GAMES All eyes will be on the result at the Camp Nou on sunday as Barcelona host Real Madrid. 1st vs 3rd and seperated by two points a win for the visitors could see them go top but only if Milan in second fail to beat FC Schalke. Benfica or Shakhtar Donetsk who are having superb seasons could break into the top three depending on results. The unpleasant side of the setup also hosts a important game with the bottom two meeting. Villareal meet Valencia in a must win game for both sides. One of the two could escape the bottom two if Arsenal fail to beat Bayern Munich. A draw between the bottom two and a Arsenal win would be very welcoming for Pthame.

Re: Gold Championship 8 - Transfers, Rumors & Match Reports BAYERN WIN SMFA SHIELD Udinese 1 - 3 Bayern Munich "One leg of the tripod conquered" Declares Johnson. Fans were left chanting Johnsons name as Bayern Munich lifted the SMFA shield in a epic game. Soon after the victory the Munich chairman announced a gold statue will be built of Johnson to praise his efforts for his first season in charge. Bayern started the way they wanted to finish when Luca Toni scored the opening goal in the third minute. A powerful shot was rebounded by the Udinese keeper only for the italian hitman Toni to slot it home. The german giants continued to press, dominating the play attacking from all angles. Yet they went in only 1-0 up. Johnson must of said something to his team as they came out all guns blazing and scored just one minute into the second half, after Ribery capitalised off a poor clearance. It took a mere 2 minutes for Bayern Munich to kill the game off, Croatian star Eduardo Da Silva, used his power, speed and strength to slot home and put on hand on the trophy. udinese did get a consolation but it was to little to late as bayern went on to dominate play further. Munich had over 60% possession and 16 shots. They thorughly deserved there win, there victory was watched by many previous german legends, Muller, Voller, Klinsman to name a few. Man of the match went to the italian hitman Luca Toni. After the game Johnson gave a press conferance to the SMFA NEWS. " Im absoloutly delighted with this fantastic achievement, its great to have on my own and my players CV's it also lets european clubs know Bayern are on the up. We won this cup with ease and it proves we will be able to challenge in the SMFA cup next season. I have to thank the players, i have ben rotating alot recently which can be unsettling but they have done brilliantly. Next week we are in the semi finals of the domestic shield and i expect to win that competition."

Re: Yossi Benayoun I'd say Benayoun deserves a 90. 16 games, 5 goals. Plus a hat-trick agains Bestikas in the Champions League. 4th highest scorer for Liverpool this season, behind Torres, Gerrard and Kuyt considering he´s not even a striker speaks for itself! Israeli captain as well.

    Defoe For Alves

Re: Defoe For Alves I would defiantly do that deal bud Defoe hardly ever plays at Spurs and i can't see him going up any time soon where as Alves plays ever game when he is fit and takes free kicks, so he is a big part of the team, and is also playing Champions league football this year and it doesn't even look like Spurs will be in any Europe next year. You would be a fool to turn down that deal so .............. ACCEPT

    An Insider's look at...

Ladies and gentleman, you may have noticed a small break in my scouting since the U 20's. I have been developing a new system that enables me to scout many more leagues, more effectivly. After a lot of work, it is ready. All the information isn't in yet, but the first of my leagues is done. I will next work on Austria or Denmark, and keep going until they are all done, probably in january. I do not touch anyone under the age of 30 Keep an eye on my signature to know the latest updates! This system places players in 5 categories. 1. Star Movement : Star players who deserve a rise. Anyone already 88 + will be in this category. 2. Next Generation : Players who should be moving into the 87-90 range who are still quite young. 3. Moneymakers : Players who are grossly underrated. 4. Keep an eye on... : Youth who have started to make apps, but probably not enough to rise yet. 5. Must be created : Pretty self descriptive. Holland is on a different thread, I thought I could edit the title. No success.

Re: More Benefits For People With Higher Reps Repped for an excellent post Dan, which I fully agree with. At the last SM Dev/Mod meeting many of us banged on at SM about being harder on cheats, especially in GCs. I think they are looking into this but I will bring it up again next time as it is a real problem. Unfortunately, as many GM's are the people who spend a lot of time on SM and have some spare money, it seems an increasing number are taking their obsession to the next (and wrong) level and feeling the need to cheat. There has been lots in GC1 lately for instance. I get a cheating manager kicked, only for a 21 rep manager to join in GC1 recently. This is a joke. Someone who has been caught out enough to be going down to 20 should be barred access to the setup entirely. I also lost in the SMFA cup final to someone who had their rep knocked down to 30. This was their second consecutive title, and SM have (and will add soon) his name to the homepage as the winner of their premier tournament again! Championing a cheat on the homepage... surely this is the exact opposite of what SM should be doing? Surely he should have been at least be booted out the tournament, same as a team in real life would have been if their manager had been breaking the rules, rather than rewarded for it? I genuinely don't care losing any game to anyone with rep over 40, before someone says this. So, coming back to the point of the thread, I am less keen to reward high rep players than I am to see low rep players dealt with as they should be. I don't ever seem to hear people saying 'cheats should be dealt with less harshly' so I don't understand why SM are not listening to this and being more severe, at the very least in the pay setups where people are paying for the privilege of having their season ruined by some little fool. Even in the standard setups, it is far from OK of course, but bizarrely I seem to witness cheating less in my other 12 teams combined than I do in GC1 combined. More teams for higher rep GM's would be nice, at the moment any muppet can get 10 teams if they have a few quid, so it makes sense to link rep to GM team ownership too, as if anything it is more important there.

    World Cup 2010 Thread

Re: World Cup 2010 Thread Great job Ricardo I have added the Fifa Ranking (1st number) and UEFA ranking (second number). Have also calculated the total FIFA rankings of the first four teams in each group (figured in theory any of those might qualify). I have then reordered the groups depending on these rankings. So on paper Group 3, Group 6 and Group 7 should be the most difficult to qualify from. The weakest is then Group 2. Hope it makes sense. Forum Reputation System

FORUM REPUTATION SYSTEM Introduction The Forum user reputation system provides a way of rating users based on the quality of their posts. User reputations allow the users in your community to tell others in the community which users are quality and which users are not. When should I use it? This is debatable, but as a general rule you should leave reputation if you feel strongly about a post. Always be constructive, even if you disagree. The forum moderators do moderate the reputation comments, which means we see what is said... so think about what you say! The people you leave feedback for will also see it. Please see the rules below, as everyone has a responsibility to use this tool correctly. How do I use it? When viewing any post, you will see some silver scales which you can select. You should then leave a comment and say whether you approve or disapprove of the comment. Submit, and the person you have left it for will be able to see your comment on their User CP. User CP When you view this you will see a list of comments and your reputation points total. Please report any abusive comments, and the user responsible will be dealt with as appropriate. Reputation points How many you have will have a few different effects. Firstly, you will have more green bars on each of your posts, as a reward for posting quality. You gain one bar for each 100 rep points, and hovering over the bars will give rise to a comment that gets better the more you have. For every 250 reputation points, you also get 1 reputation POWER point. Rep Power points This is your ability to influence the reputation points of others. For every rep power point you have, you can add or remove 1 rep point when commenting on someone's post. 250 rep points gives 1 rep power point. As does 1 year on the forum, or 1000 posts. Your rep power is above the green bars. Green bars One green dot is given for every started 100 reputation points. From 500 points on, one bright green dot is given for every started 200 reputation points. Additional Points You must leave reputation for multiple people before giving it to the same person again; You must have posted 20 times before your reputation hits count on somebody's score; All users start with 10 rep points; The reputation system grants no privileges outside the rep system; You can only rep 25 times a day. So use them wisely! RULES Abuse of the system will not be tolerated. Below are some examples of misuse of the tool. This is not a complete list, common sense is the best approach, and all rules (see Forum Rules & Regulations) extend to the rep system also: Rep Bumping - This is when people leave rep to raise someone else's rep points or power; Rep Begging - Posting asking for rep. PM'ing asking for rep. Repping asking for rep. Asking for rep in signatures or usernames. Any form of pressure to rep is not allowed; Rep Announcing/Rewarding - Telling members on thread youve left them Rep or will give them some for helping out ,this can be considered as a hint for some back . All members will see from user CP who/when and which thread no need to forcast it,will be treated as Spam. Rep Roundabouts - Repping between the same group of people back and forth in order to raise rep quickly and secretly; Empty Reps - Rep given without any comments. Will be assumed to be rep bumping. Rep Bribing - Offering rep as a reward/sweetener for anything given in return either on or off the forum. Usernames, usertitles, signatures are not allowed to contain references to rep. If any of these rules are broken, or any misuse of the rep system occurs, the SM Dev/Supervisors reserve the right to remove the rep, remove people's ability to rep, reduce their reputation power or points, and even to ban members, as they see fit. Devs/Supervisors also reserve the right to check people's private messages if they suspect that any activities that break the above rules are being conducted through this system NB: Due to abuse of the system, the ability to leave negative reputation has been removed. If a post you would have liked to have neg repped breaks any forum rules, use the report button or contact a mod.

I do not touch anyone under the age of 30 This system places players in 5 categories. The thread will remain the same, but the thread title will change every new update. Now, without furthur wait, here is the inaugural edition, an Insider's look at HOLLAND!
