  1. Re: Gold Championship 26 Transfers / Reports Thread #1 Stuttering Start. Vitoria 2-2 BenficaIt finished all square at the D. Afonso Henriques, in Joe Charley's first match in charge of top Portuguese side Benfica, much to his annoyance. Vitoria Lineup (4-4-2) ----------------Nilson---------------- --Luis Filipe--Sereno--Arnolin--Dante-- --Flavio Meireles--Joao Alves--Fajardo--Goor-- --Roberto--Mrdakovic-- Benfica Lineup (4-1-2-1-2) -----------------Quim----------------- --Rieloff--Luisao--David Luiz--Leo-- -----------------Katsouranis----------------- --Maxi Pereira-------------Jorge Ribeiro-- -----------------Aimar----------------- --Suazo--Cardozo-- Match Report 14th minute BOOKING - Pablo Aimar of Benfica brought down his marker with a reckless challenge leaving the man in a heap on the floor, obviously making the most of it. 15th minute BOOKING - After a high challenge, Miguel Jorge Ribeiro of Benfica was cautioned and given a firm talking to by the referee. You can clearly see Ribeiro crying like a three year old who had dropped their ice cream. 23rd minute GOAL - Milan Mrdakovic of Vitoria headed home a cross from the right earning himself his first goal of the season, and most importantly giving his team a one goal cushion. 32nd minute GOAL - Benfica are back level through centre back Moreira David Luiz. A stunning goal from the young man, after making his way past a handful of defenders, he lashed home a great effort. 39th minute CHANCE - Just as David Suazo thought his shot would nestle in the corner of the net, it was cleared away at full stretch and out for a corner much to his disbelief. 42nd minute GOAL - Benfica were in front just before half time, thanks to Oscar Cardozo's powerful finish after the defender's attempted clearance hit him in the face and rolled into the Paraguayan's path. HALF TIME 1-2 49th minute GOAL - Just four minutes after the restart, Vitoria's new Belgium signing Bart Goor finished off a sensational move with a slick finish, reminicent of Thierry Henry. 74th minute BOOKING - Lourenco Leo of Benfica is booked for diving, despite the crowd holding up scores of ten in the background on cardboard cut outs. After much booing, Leo got up and pranced away. FULL TIME 2-2 Player Ratings & Statistics Vitoria - Nilson 7, Luis Filipe 6, Dante 6, Sereno 6, Arnolin 6, Joao Alves 6, Flavio Meireles 6, Fajardo 6, Roberto 7, Mrdakovic 8, Goor 7. Injury Report Benfica's Oscar Cardozo has been ruled out for three weeks with a strained wrist. This is a blow as Cardozo had a great game against Vitoria and is one of Benfica's key players. Veteran centre forward Nuno Gomes will take his place until he returns.

  2. when i was about 5 or 6, i absolutely hated football, my dad and brother were watching it every weekend and eventually i changed sides, ever since i have watched football i have been an Arsenal supporter, and yes, i do not like man utd, chelsea, or even liverpool for that matter, but every single season we have a team that we all expect to be fighting the top four all the way, drop right down and fail. Last year, we had Bolton, who everyone had expected to grab a uefa cup spot that year. This year, its spurs. Now, as much as i like to say, haha, spurs right down the bottom, ( being an arsenal supporter n all ), as much as i hate spurs, im not gonna give them any abuse because, lets face it, we all have our ups and downs, Juande Ramos made a huge blurr in getting rid of defoe. In my opinion, Defoe is better than Keane, and i personally thought ramos should have sold bent instead of defoe. When the big four come knocking, any club is going to have there work cut out in keeping there player - Spurs fought valiantly not to sell berbatov to united but in the end berbs was always going to move to the red section of Manchester whether spurs liked it or not. I think that tottenham will not get relegated, they will eventually start picking up points and they undoubtedly have the quality to beat opponents but they are not quite gelling, this is a problem when you sign as many players as tottenham have, it takes a while to get up and going, as will probably be the case with manchester City once the transfer window opens. At the other end of the table, we see a dogfight for the opportunity for a team to leapfrog one of there rivals and build a gap early on, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea all made such bright starts, but a few lost points here and there could cost dearly, Chelsea, Liverpool and most recently Arsenal have lost points against sides most tipped to be down the bottom. Chelsea should have beaten tottenham, Liverpool over Stoke looked gettable and the fact that Arsenal couldnt even get a point AT HOME to Hull is absurd, but it also shows that all teams can be beaten on any given day. Man United started the season badly but the 2-0 win over Bolton, well helped by a shocking refereeing decision, was an important one for them. I think Man utd will get going now that Ronaldo's back - but another injury for him and Man utd's season could be over early because its quite obvious man utd rely on him very heavily to get most of there goals whether it be as a contributing factor or goalscoring factor. All good teams have 1 or 2 players that stand out above all the other. Man utd - Ronaldo and Rooney Chelsea - Lampard and Terry Liverpool - Gerrard and Torres Arsenal - Fabregas and Walcott and so on. I honestly cant believe that Arsenal are on par with Chelsea and Man utd - Arsenal have not spent 15m+ on a player in any recent season and if you can tell me one within a span of 5 years ill take this back but compared to the others, they dont spend at all - if you look at the squads of the big four - Arsenals and Liverpools are far behind chelsea and man utd's in terms of strength in depth and why? MONEY. If it wasnt for Wenger, Arsenal would be sitting around 6/7/8th position because he has this uncanny ability to bring out the best in players and this may sound biast but i believe he is the best manager in the world when it comes to bringing in a player - getting value for money and bringing out every last drop of that players potential. I fully expect Man utd to bridge the gap to liverpool and arsenal but i think Chelsea are going to run away with it this year, they have a great squad, you see big players like Drogba and Essien having long term injuries but they still hang in there, grit wins and still play good football, which has become great to watch thanks to big phil. I used to never like watching the chelsea games, they were so boring but nowadays i enjoy them alot more because of the style of play. it will take alot from united to push chelsea but as i said before i think chelsea are just far too good. My top four: 1st - Chelsea 2nd - Man utd 3rd - Arsenal 4th - Liverpool OR - Aston Villa I think villa can really push for 4th spot this year and they have build a solid squad which is capable of doing it this year. My Bottom Three: 18th - Fulham 19th - Newcastle United 20th - West Brom Plz give me feedbacks. Thanks everyone - It was a joy making this thread

    Iván Marcano

(Report as of September 08) Iván Marcano is a CB for Spanish Club Racing Santander. He was born on the 23rd June 1987, making him 21 years old. The young defender has been on brink of Racing team for a while, since breaking through as a youth player, but been unable to break into the team... until now. This season Ivan Marcano has started all 3 league games for Racing Santander, playing every single minute, putting him on a par with fellow defenders Garay (91) and Pinillos (89). Racing regulars are rated between 87 and 91, so Marcano has a good chance of reaching this rating by the end of this season. Marcano was a member of the team that held Barcelona to a draw, shutting out the likes of Eto'o and Messi. He was also in the team that held Sevilla to a 1-1 draw, again keeping out some top strikers in Kanoute and Luis Fabiano. In the 3rd match Racing lost 2-0 to Real Madrid, but despite the defeat Marcano received praise from his manager for a strong performance. So despite a difficult start to the season, Racing have held strong, and this partly down to the young defender. Iván Marcano did not play in the 1-0 win over FC Honka in the UEFA Cup, nor was he on the bench, and I can't find why this is. But he did return for the defeat to Real Madrid. Since then, he has played every single league match, scoring one goal. It is best to note that Racing Santander are currently struggling down the bottom half of La Liga though. And the best thing is, Iván Marcano is rated just 77on the DB. He can be picked up for around £550k, very cheap for a player that could be 87 by the end of the season. I predict a small rise to 82/83 for the youngster when the Spanish ratings come, IF he continues to play, and then maybe 87/88 after that. He is also playing in CB for Racing Santander, so expect a positional change to CB/LB or CB. Presuming he continues to play. Get Him Now! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update (November): He has now risen to 84. I think next time he should rise straight to 86/87. If you have him, Do Not Sell him. Even if you don't have him, he's still worth a buy, as he will increase again yet. He has played every single minute for Racing Santander in the league, and he is the only player to do so. Update (May): He has now increased to 87. He had started every single game until getting a small injury in April, which kept him out for around 3 weeks, but since then he's been back and playing again. He has also been strongly linked with Sevilla, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. Update (July): According to Goal, he has now signed for Villareal. Although Goal isn't the best source, so nothing is confirmed as of yet.

  4. This thread is dedicated to players who have become regulars for their clubs, and are at a lower rating than the rest of their team, hence why they are big risers. I'll be going across all the big nations from Europe, apart from England as I'm sure there will be plenty of threads on those players. I will be looking at Spain, Italy, Germany, Holland, Portugal, and perhaps even more. I will look through each club and pick out the players who you should definitely buy. These are the players that you can buy now, then at the end of the season you can look back and say, "I got him when he was 75, and now he's 87!", or "He was 86 when I signed him, now he's 90!". It requires patience, as rises are usually gradual throughout the season, but by the end of the season, it is definitely worth the wait. I'd like to get it clear, that these are not all big risers at once. The big rise is from now to the end of the season. These aren't necessarily big risers at once, but are the ones that could be the next Susaeta's or the next Pjanic's. I'd also like to get it clear that I am not claiming credit for any of these players. Some of them have been mentioned before, some haven't. I am simply saying who the big risers are from across Europe. But I am NOT simply nicking these from other threads, I'm taking them all from my own scouting (which doesn't mean that I am the first to find them). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These are provisional predictions. In other words, these are based on if the player in question continues to feature for his club. If he gets dropped, or is only filling in, then he will not reach his predicted end of season rating, but this should happen with few players. High rated players (>=85) are in dark blue. Low rated players (<85) are in royal blue The biggest risers are in Bold Green. Player surname in bold, so you know what to search, as well as Final Predicted Rating. The number in Red in (Brackets) is the number they rose to. 6. Your Guide To Anorthosis Famagusta and It's Riser's I'm not sure if many of you now Anorthosis Famagusta but I thought now would be a good time to introduce them as they are the first Cypriot team to be in the Champions League. Another reason I thought now is a good time to introduce them is that the Cypriot rating changes are next after the English, Scottish, Northern Ireland and Wales. In this thread I’ll give you some information about Anorthosis Famagusta and some of its player's that I think should rise. Anorthosis Famagusta have won the Cypriot league 13 time's including last season they have also won the Cypriot cup 10 time's and the LTV cup 7 time's. Anorthosis Famagusta won the last season won the Cypriot league in the 2007-08 season going unbeaten all season. But before that the last time they won it was in the 2004-5 season and during that season they only lost one game. In this new season the 2008-9 season they have played 4 games and not lost one game yet and they sit on top of the table three points clear of second place Omonoia. Another great achieve meant of Anorthosis Famagusta is that this season they have qualified for the Champions league. Now some people might think they got easy opponent's and that is why they got into the Champions League but that is wrong. Firstly their first game was a against Pyunik, Anorthosis Famagusta won the first leg their home game 1-0 then they won the second league the away game 2-0. There second game was against Rapid Vienna were Anorthosis Famagusta completely dominated the first leg their home game 3-0 but they lost the second leg the away game 3-1 but Anorthosis Famagusta still qualified for the next round. There third game was against a team that were no strangers to the Champions league it was Olympiacos. Anorthosis Famagusta won the first leg the home game with a very surprising score line of 3-0 but they lost the second leg the away game 1-0 which meant Anorthosis Famagusta qualified for the Champions league. This meant that they were the first Cypriot team in the Champions league. Their first game in the Champions league was a away game against Werder Breman the score line had ended up 0-0.

  7. I have a suggestion that I think is a no-brainer improvement regarding the 48-hour transfer ban rule on recently dropped teams. I think the rule that you can't even PUT IN a bid on a player should be removed. I have been trying to bid on an unmanaged player for several days, but new managers keep picking up the team and dropping them again after only a few hours, or a day at the most. This of course resets the 48 hour TB each time it happens, and it's silly. Perhaps you should be allowed to PUT IN a bid, but the bid would be pending and cannot be accepted until the 48 hours are up. IF no one takes over the team, and IF it has been at least 24 hours since you put in your bid, and IF no one else has out-bid you, the player should be yours as soon as the 48 hours pass. Please tell me this makes perfect sense. I am going to send in a ticket, but I thought a new thread would get more attention.

  9. Re: Gold Championship 22 Match Report / Transfers Thread Fiorentina ease past Treviso Fiorentina travelled to the Omobono Tenni to take on Treviso in the Italian cup Round 2. Sheva left out the big names for the match. The likes of Gilardino, Mutu, Pasquale, Montolivo, Dainelli and Kuzmanovic were all left out. Roger and Bentley also watched from the stand, both being injured. Bentley is yet to make his debut for the Viola. Spurs duo, Dos Santos Giovani and Darren Bent led the charge in attack. Santana and Gobbi occupying the wings. Felipe Melo and Sergio Almiron were at CM while, 22 year old Brazilian, Santos Rodrigo Mancha was handed his debut for the Viola. He was to provide cover for the 3 defenders, Vargas, Clerc and Gamberini. Sergio Almiron opened the scoring immediately after being handed his first start of the season. He showed the manager why he should have a place in the Fiorentina midfield after he slotted home with a great solo effort. Just 5 minutes later, Rodrigo Mancha doubled the Viola's lead. The Brazilian showed great technique after he latched onto a pass by fellow Brazilian Felipe Melo. Mancha blasted the ball with the outside of his right foot to curl the ball brilliantly into the back of the net. Dos Santos scored his first goal for the club as well to make it 3-0 to Fiorentina after he showed tremendous skill to get past his marker and he then rounded up the keeper with ease. Midfielder Gianni Giogou did manage to pull one back for the home side 5 minutes after the restart but the Fiorentina defence looked steady after that. Final score was 3-1 to the Viola. Sergio Almiron picked up the MoM award but an equally good performance from debutant Rodrigo Mancha. Mancha-Hope for the future-Inspirational on debut

  10. Re: Gold Championship 28 Match Reports/Transfers Thread Rooney Sold! Manchester United, in a sensational deal have sold Wayne Rooney to Spanish side Valencia. The deal saw Sanchez David Villa and Josue David Silva join McCandless' side. The two are expected to make their debut for Man United tomorrow night against local rivals Manchester City. Villa and Silva will scare many defenses this season in the EPL! Yesterday Manchester United also completed of Argentine Ezequiel Lavezzi from Napoli. John O'Shea and Ji-Sung Park were the players used to make Lavezzi's move possible. Lavezzi will bolster United's new exciting looking attack. United's new attacking line!

  13. Re: Should i sell essien? If your opinions were strong enough/valid they wouldn't need to be extinguished. Neither me or anybody can prove that they're the king of the world. If there was ever a king of the world and he stated something which is not true about a player then I would argue with him. You don't need to take "****" from me' date=' exactly how like I don't need to give it to you. If you really are as strong as you're trying to portray, then you would simply ignore me or other posters giving you the 'criticism' you reckon I'm giving you. But I can give valid points to why Mascherano is better than Essien, or in your case, Essien not being far better than Mascherano, whereas you probably couldn't. I'll be supportive when there is something to be supportive about.

Re: Gold Championship 23 Match Reports/ Transfers Thread Vélez Sársfield News Huracán 1 - 4 Sársfield Andrés MAXI BUSTOS (27) Jonathan CRISTALDO (66) Antonio BARIJHO (54) Miroslav SLEPICKA (68) Miroslav SLEPICKA (76) MOM- Miroslav SLEPICKA Sársfield ended last nights game on a high after crushing Huracán 4-1 away from home. It was by no means a close game and was dominated totally by Sársfield. This is what manager Rishabh Desai had to say:"Well we have been struglling at times to get the results but today we have got a really good result. I hope that we can carry on playing like the way we did tody and gets some real points on the board !!! It really looks like the change in fromation from the 3-2-2-2 to the 3-4-2-1 has done the trick. Lets hope it works against the other teams as well. Now if you'll excuse me, i got to go and party !!!" It was defencive midfielder and captain for the match, Andrés Maxi Bustos who scored the opener for Sársfield in the 27th minute of the game. Maxi lached on to a brilliant corner from Somoza and headed the ball into the back of the net making the score 1-0 Sársfield's way !!! (Celebrating his first ever goal for Sársfield !!!) In the second half Antonio Barijho of Huracán scored the equalizer in the 54th minute. He was literally gifted the goal when Sársfield defender Marcelo Bustamante's back-pass fell well short of the keeper and Barijho netted the goal with ease. But Sársfield fought back and they soon had their noses in fornt again after Jonathan Cristaldo had his shot deflected into the goal by Huracán defender Carlos Arano. Cristaldo shot from an acute angel and the already goal bound ball deflected off Arano and went past the helpless keeper giving Sársfield the lead once again !!! (An emotional celebration from the 19 year old Cristaldo !!!) New signing Miroslav Slepicka got involved in the game and just two mninutes after Cristaldo's goal he scored. A brilliant ball form Leonel Rios found tis way to Slepick who skipped past his marker and thundered the ball into the back of the net form 25 yeards out !!! He scored his scond of the game in the 76th minute when he beat the offside track and powered the ball past the hapless keeper completing the rout !!! (Miroslav Slepicka - In the act already !!!) Help With Deal(s) Thread...

Re: Help With Deal(s) Thread... I didn't expect a question like this from you Definitely Lloris... plays for a better team in a better league and plays champions league too. He was expected to rise to 91 in the passed France rating changes, but he didn't. So I think it will be in the next one. IMO Lloris is a better choice...

  20. Re: Gold Championship 28 Match Reports/Transfers Thread Juventus Bring In New Recruits Four New Faces In Turin! Since their disappointing defeat to champions Internazionale. Italian giants Juventus have managed to bring in four new players. The defeat against Inter saw Andrea Barzagli and Riccardo Montolivo make their debuts, but boss Sparky wasn't pleased with his team's performances and decided to add new faces to the dressing room. The new look Juventus saw them get rid of club legend and arguably the best goalkeeper in the world, Gianluigi Buffon. The Italian number one headed to North London as Spurs were keen to snap him up. In return came replacement goalkeeper Gomes (91) and gifted Croatian playmaker Luka Modric (91). Jonathan Woodgate is also expected to arrive in Turin tomorrow subject to a medical. Sparky was pleased with the deal as said that he 'has more options' in the dressing room. The duo are expected to make their debut against Udinese on Wednesday. Modric & Gomes (Right) Pose With Striker Dos Santos Another player to arrive was Italian winger Rosina. 22. Re: Atletico Madrid WC-3046 Atletico Madrid 2-0 Liverpool Atletico Madrid did not dissapoint the packed crowd at the vicente Calderon as they beat heavy favourites Liverpool 2-0. Atletico got off to a good start as their best player so far this season Diego Forlan put them in front with a low drive from 20 yards. Forlan puts Atletico ahead The first half from then on was extremely laboured as Atletico defended and Liverpool showed no creativity to unlock the defense. But with 2 minutes to go to half time Babel missed a golden oppurtinity as he hit the crossbar. After the interval Atletico madrid made Liverpool and Babel pay for their miss as a wicked defelction wrong foots the goalkeeper with Joao Moutinho taking the credit and scoring his first goal for his new club. Moutinho with a lucky goal With half an hour to go Robbie Keane had a perfect oppurtinity but somehow an easy tap in from keane goes wide. Forlan then could have sealed Liverpool's fate but his effort hits the outside of the post. With 4 mniutes to go Keane was again denied what it would seem was a consolation as his header hits the post.

    Jonathan Blanco

Re: Jonathan Blanco Started (and finished) again at Boca tonight, he scored an OG though Tigre won 3-2 and it is looking like the whole team is in for a lilttle rise. Blanco and San Roman (68th min sub) are the two that need snapping up though. Despite the OG Blanco played pretty well.

  24. Re: Portuguese (future) stars Paulo Ricardo Ribeiro Jesus Machado born in 31/03/1986 and is a Center Midfield loaned to Saint Etienne by FCPorto. When we talk about Paulo Machado, it is necessary to start the story by the Portuguese young teams. Giving in the views of the junior FC Porto squad, the various calls to Portuguese youth squads were the result of his immense talent. In u-17, divided the space of midfield with names like Manuel Fernandes and Joao Moutinho. He left Moutinho a lot of times in the bench, due to early maturity and his football. The years were passing, and today, with 22 years, Machado is still one of the undisputed choice of u-21 squad, which now discusses the qualification to the European of 2009. Even before the extinction of the B teams was there that Paulo made the transition from youth to senior football. Involved in a project where operating surplus players of the main team and young people in the first year of senior, he imposed, quickly, his talent in the 2nd Division B. His geometrical football, a large ability in free kicks were predicates that reinforced even more, the good reputation of the midfielder formed in the academies of Porto. In the 2004/2005 season, year of great instability in FC Porto, Paulo was called to join the main team. The various ins and outs, opened the door to some young people trained in cantera portista. Ivanildo and Paulo Machado, were some of the athletes called. Paulo acted in four games. In the games he made he not leaved his mark. The FC Porto not convinced, and lose the title to the big rival of Lisbon, Benfica. The following season would be the season of safest bets. Paulo Machado would not enter in the accounts. The first loan of Paulo Machado was to Estrela da Amadora. A club always involved in the struggle for permanence, and therefore ideal to him have few games in the first league. Paulo was used on 25 occasions and was one of the most important players of the team estrelista. Always responsible for free kicks of the team, Machado also showed quality when was leading the game. Good notes for the first season. In 2006/2007, Paulo Machado had the hope to integrate the FCPorto. However, competition in the crumb of the field in FC Porto was very tight, and that factor motivated new loan, now to the União de Leiria. Players such as Lucho, Ibson, Raul Meireles, Anderson and Paul Asunção were blocking his the entry in the team. In Leiria, Paulo made 26 games. Almost always holder in the team. More one good season, which used the loan to strengthen his technical qualities. For 2007/2008, new expectations. The FC Porto had loaned Ibson to Flamengo and Anderson had left for Manchester United, through a millionaire transfer. That opened some space in the team, however, Jesualdo preferred to acquire the Polish Kaźmierczak, which was highlighted in Boavista and the unknown Argentine, Mario Bolatti. Despite the excellent campaign in the championship, both players were little used by the Portuguese coach, opening a discussion about the alternatives to holders of the FC Porto. While struggled the lack of alternatives in the Dragão, Paulo Machado evolved, quietly in Leixoes. Now closer to home, the organizer of the game had another excellent season. Two goals and 25 games provide a total adjustment of the him to our first division. The maintenance was achieved and the stamp of Machado was, again, saved. For 2008/09, the destination is the French first division, which will represent the historical Saint-Etienne, where Hélder Postiga already acted. The assertion is not, apparently, this season. The next is still far. In a scheme of three midfields, Paulo Machado can act as number 8 or 10. His ability to work also allows him to act more retreated. In a scheme with four midfields, arranged in diamond, can act on the right and in the left. The set pieces are one of the strengths of the midfield. Paulo, charges the free kicks in a tense form, always causing huge problems for opponents. The technique capacity of Machado is another of the strengths of the player. Play in two, three touches and is not afraid of one to one. The game in air is one of the aspects that he should improve. The French league is more physical that the Portuguese, and is a feature that he should develop to be successful in France. Looking to what Guarin is making in Porto.. Paulo Machado is better than him and is already adapted to our football. In my opinion, he have qualities to be better than Veloso.. Present in DB, rated 84. Edit: It's an 88 now(02/03/10)

  26. Re: Esteban Granero or Javi Garcia I would go for Granero. I highly doubt Javi Garcia will play much this season- he's got Sneijder, Diarra, Gago, de la Red and Guti all in front of him in the pecking order. Whereas at Getafe, just like last season, Granero is pretty much a first teamer so he has a good chance of hitting probably an 89 by the end of the campaign. Bradley moved to Gladbach in the summer, and they aren't really a good side at all. I just saw them get hammered the other week and are languishing in 18th spot with THREE POINTS from a possible EIGHTEEN. I would say SELL BRADLEY ASAP! He's their highest rated player, the next comes in at a mere 87 and he will definitely definitely go down in the next change. It's a pity; he's a very good player but he's moved to the wrong club
