  1. Re: Fed Up With Glory Supporters! For me, football is about moments. I love that I was there to see the Albion lift our first divisional trophy in donkeys years and a ton of other similar stuff. But equally I've got cracking memories from the day we got promoted for the first time in 20-odd years, when I was just down the pub with mates, just like anyone else who couldn't be there has. I'm sure the people who were there for Utd's ridiculous CL win over Bayern will remember it as long as they live, but people who watched it on the box or at a pub or whatever will make their own memories. I'm just amazed at the snobbery some people have about it. It's not how you stumbled across the club, it's as you alluded to how much you care.

  4. Re: English Championship 106 - Transfer/Gossip thread I wouldn't Sell em a Virus Blackburn manager Akash labeled Liverpool manager Tom Field a joke and claimed he wouldn't sell him a virus. "If he thinks he can sign Lassana Diarra after he pulls of a stunt like this then hes in dreamland. On second thoughts I might sell him Diarra in exchange for Essien. And it's quite clear to everyone with a brain that Tom is feeling the strains of managing such a big club. He had enough games in which to keep them up but his inept approach relegated Liverpool. In fact I'm surprised hes still in the job. Obviously the Liverpool owners see something in him that none of us do. His poor transfer policy has left them with no depth and I can see Liverpool finishing comfortably in midtable."

  5. Re: Bundesliga Analysis & Predictions 2008/2009 Yes' date=' he is a regular, and he's already an important player in the Stuttgart squad. Many Stuttgart fans rate him as highly as Hitzelsperger, some even above him. They form a very solid partnership in front of their defense, keeping away a lot of trouble for them. Offensively, he's even a bit more dangerous than his partner. He's now also been capped for Germany, after injuries and important games for the youth teams (e.g. the U21-Euros) delayed his debut. Last time I talked about him I wasn't convinced he'd get a rise, but so far this season, he has impressed, and a rise is becoming more likely the more I think about him. Both are good and definitely talented, but I don't see them getting regular games at their respective clubs for now. Sven at Dortmund has Kehl, who definitely plays when fit, Tinga, Hummels, Feulner and Sahin ahead of him, who all play/can play in his position, and is playing for the reserves in the 3. Liga currently. Lars, who moved to Leverkusen today already, probably won't play much as well as Rolfes, Vidal and maybe even Reinartz are preferred over him in the DM position. They seemed like must-buys a year ago, but for now, I rather see them dropping than rising tbh, but long-term, I'm still convinced that they can hit 90+ some day.

    MUFC Rating Predictions;

    Hello, and welcome to the Manchester United Rating Predictions thread. Here you can discuss your verdict on the players ratings and expected ratings for the upcoming English rating changes. I will list the United squad and predict the ratings of every player for the next changes. Current Manchester United squad: VAN DER SAR, Edwin - 94 --> 94 KUSZCZAK, Tomasz - 88 --> 88 FOSTER, Ben - 87 --> 88/89 ZIELER, Ron-Robert - 74 --> 74 AMOS, Ben - 73 --> 73 EVRA, Patrice - 93 - 93/94 FABIO, Pereira da Silva - 75 --> 80/81 BROWN, Wes - 89 --> 88 NEVILLE, Gary - 89 --> 88 RAFAEL, Pereira da Silva - 86 --> 88/89 FERDINAND, Rio - 96 --> 96 VIDIC, Nemanja - 96 --> 96 EVANS, Jonny - 88 --> 89/90 DE LAET, Ritchie - 73 --> 76/78 O'SHEA, John - 89 --> 89 GIGGS, Ryan - 92 --> 92/91 TOSIC, Zoran - 86 - 86/87 SCHOLES, Paul - 92 --> 92/91 CARRICK, Michael - 92 --> 93 ANDERSON, Luis - 91 --> 91 FLETCHER, Darren - 90 --> 90 GIBSON, Darron - 84 --> 85/86 HARGREAVES, Owen - 90 --> 89/88 PARK, Ji-Sung - 90 --> 91 VALENCIA, Antonio - 89 --> 90 NANI, Luís - 89 --> 89/90 ROONEY, Wayne - 96 --> 96 OBERTAN, Gabriel - 86 - 86/87 WELBECK, Danny - 83 --> 84/85 BRANDY, Febian - 75 --> 75 BERBATOV, Dimitar - 93 --> 93 OWEN, Michael - 90 --> 90 MACHEDA, Federico - 80 --> 84/85 United Analysis: My analysis on United so far since the departure of Ronaldo & Tevez is Fergie' will be playing 4-4-2 using the wingers, as seen in the pre-season friendlies. I'll start from the Goalkeepers to the Strikers. Goalkeepers. At the start of the season, since Van Der Sar has been ruled out for up to eight weeks. There has been a loop hole for Foster and Kuszczak. It seems to me they will be rotated for opportunities but Fergie prefers Foster, who I think is still shakey in goal but it's understandable. Foster still needs experience from his long-term injury and has the potential not to be United's next #1 keeper, but also England's. It just matters if he can live up to the expectations... Now, ah, Defenders. United are starting to struggle in this department in the early start to the season with injuries. I believe Ferdinand and Vidic are fine with their current ratings. Our third choice CB, Evans seems to be shining. Filled in for Rio/Vidic perfectly last season and has been promised by Fergie' he will get even more appearances this season. 89/90 is definately on te cards for Evans. Call me bias but I still think Evra is the best LB in the world, sheer brilliance. He has speed, great fitness, great awareness and power. He contributes alot down that left-flank bringing in a nice amount of assists each season. 93/94, what do you think? Our second choice LB is Fabio, Rafael's twin brother. He's more attacking than Rafael and this kid has potential, gonna like to see how he fills in for Evra. He will get game time in other competitions. Now Rafael has nudged Brown & Neville out of the first choice RB position, he is phenomenal. A few years and he will be on par with Maicon in the Brazil NT. He's one of the biggest prospects in Europe. As for Brown and Neville, both been injured for a while now, and a -1 will be due soon. Midfielders. Quite a few risers coming from this department. The centre of midfield is where United seem to struggle. Scholes is past it now and Carrick is his successor. Fletcher is good but he isn't "world class material" in my eyes. I can see Anderson stepping up soon, he will be getting more appearances this season and now he's scored his first goal; let's hope he don't stop, haha. Gibson will also get more game time this season so a small rise will be enough for him. We have quite a few replacements for Ronaldo; Nani, Obertan, Valencia. Out of those three, everyone will rate Valencia the most from his first few games at United, and scoring on his debut. The guy is very direct down the wing, unlike Ronaldo. I seen talent in Valencia when he was at Wigan, and if he can get to 89 rated at Wigan, there's no wonder what rating he can get with United. Park, IMO very under-rated. Never loses the ball for United and is always running back to support the defence when United go on the backfoot. Done alot for us last season and i'm sure he will again. Nani, nani, nani... Looked like the next Ronaldo when he first joined, started great, then he went down hill. VERY greedy, but he has great skill and alot to his game. When he scores, they are always great goals! He still has years to develop, and I can see him being a rotation player this season. Now, Obertan. Just look this guy up on YouTube, his skill and quick switching/turning is immense! There's alot of potential in him, and I can't wait to watch him debut in the red shirt. Strikers. Since the loss of Tevez and Ronaldo, people were questioning where are the goals coming from? Berbatov has to wake up and stop being lazy. I'm sure Fergie has already told him. But you can't slate off Berba, his first touch has to be one of the best in the world!!! Rooney now has the CF role in which he looks sharp in, because Berbatov doesn't go very deep. I rate Macheda more highly than Welbeck, I can see both getting rises in the next changes without breaking a sweat. Now.. The last person to introduce. Michael Owen... God knows why Fergie signed him, but in Fergie we trust! Owen is a natural born goal-scorer, he just needs to be kept fit and he will score. He's looked great for United so far, apart from finishing. He knows where to make space and he exploits it. I think Berbatov will have some competition for his spot if Owen can regain full fitness and start banging 'em in. Sorry for making it quite long, but I hope you enjoyed reading it! Feel free to copy&paste the players names and write in your predictions, and also debate. I'm also willing to answer any questions from anybody. Thank you for your time.

  7. Re: English Championship 106 - Transfer/Gossip thread OXFORD UTD 2-1 QPR Oxford Utd entertained QPR here today at the Kassam Stadium on their home return to the Third Division, and they didn't disappoint their fans with an awesome display against a stronger QPR side. On their opening two matches of the new season, a league fixture and a friendly against Crewe Alexandra, they gave up an early goal in both games but today it was Oxford Utd's turn to hit the net early with a superb strike from Reinaldo in the 7th minute to set the home team on their way to victory. 1-0 Darel Russell was once again instrumental in the heart of the Oxford Utd midfield and orchestrated the game from the outset with a display of sheer genius which resulted in him being named man of the match. Tomasz Hajto marshalled the home defence effectively but once again his wild side came through and he was booked in the 28th minute for dangerous play. Both teams probed for an opening but just as the first half was winding down, Nicolas Lodeiro went close for Oxford Utd with a header in the 40th minute, before Santos Weldon side stepped his marker to curve a beautiful shot from all of 25 yards into the QPR net in the 42nd minute to put Oxford Utd 2-0 up at half time. HT 2-0. Reinaldo picked up the second yellow card of the match for violent conduct just after the break and Oxford Utd manager David Belkevitz wisely substituted the striker for Gary Glen in the 60th minute, along with man of the match Darel Russell, no doubt to protect his star midfielder, Matthew Spring was the replacement. Andy Reid struck in the 63rd minute as Oxford Utd tried to re adjust their formation after the double substitution, much to the delight of the travelling fans. 2-1. Oxford Utd were not about to capitulate and pushed forward in an attempt to put the game out of reach for the visitors. Full back Edgar and Weldon both going close. Oxford Utd looked comfortable at the back and looked the more likely team to score as they ran out 2-1 winners in a hard fought match. FT 2-1. The Oxford Utd manager was on hand to talk with an SM reporter after the match saying, " This was a great result today for us. We knew QPR had a strong squad and used a mixture of caution and power to try and un-nerve them, and I think we succeeded in breaking up the play and not allowing them a foothold in the game. Really pleased with the whole team performance, especially Weldon and Reinaldo up front, both getting on the scoresheet and special praise to Darel Russell who was outstanding today."

Theres loads more!! * Refers to players under 87 rating but are big talents. ** Bendnter.. Im a United fan and it seems hes hated by Arsenal fans but I rate him really highly.. Yes hes pretty wayward at finishing but his game is soo much more than that.. He can hold the ball up well. has good feet. great at heading, holding up the ball etc. I rate himm highly and even though he misses lots of chances that "Touch" will come to him hes only 21!!!! and now a partner for Van p maybe?? if so a 90 shouldnt be far off.... Hope i helped.....

  16. Benton's Norwich City - EC 355 - Transfer/Match Report Thread I joined this club on the 17th August 2009. The setup is into its 7th season, and Norwich were relegated to Division 4. Now I have tooken over, I aim to build up the team and make it all the way to the EPL. I have a 4 season plan that should hopefully take me to the top half of the EPL at the very least. In order to do this, I will need to buy many youngsters, let them grow into better players, and sell them on for profit, and use the profit to buy more prospects and some good quality players. After time this will build me a world class team, ready to compete in the EPL. The Story Goes Like This... Benton Joins Norwich City Yesterday at 11:00AM, Chris Benton arrived at Carrow Road to a fanfare of Nowrich City supporters arrived to greet the new manager. Pictures were taken between Benton + The Chairman holding the Norwich City scarf. Norwich City Clear-Out! Chris Benton has not hesitated to sell players and has immediately put his full team on the transfer list. Many players have been bought in replacement... many young prospects, like: Matej Delac, Rafael Toloi, Guimarães Sandro Ranieri, Neto Eduardo, Jose Zezinho, Luiz Muriqui, Silva Ciro, Chagas Paulo Henrique. However, many big names have also been linked with the club, and a couple of good quality players arrived at Carrow Road Today: Jack Wilshere, arriving from Darlington for a fee of £2.4M. Sandro Wagner, arriving from MSV Dusiburg for a fee of £2.2M. Carneiro Keirrison, arriving from Benfica for a fee of £7.7M Kwadwo Asamoah, arriving from Udinese for £5.7M. More news coming soon...

  23. Re: Gold Championship 4 Transfers / Match reports Thread Harvey Prepares For 50th Game In Charge Of The Mariners! vs Tonight, Jack Harvey will take charge of his 50th game for the Mariners as they host Crystal Palace at Blundell Park. Grimsby's second longest manager has already taken them up from Division 3 to Division 2, and as things stand they could well be in with a shout of a dream promotion to the Premier League. Tonight's opponents, Crystal Palace, are one place above Grimsby on goal difference alone, and a win tonight for the home side could see them go as high as 1st depending on other results. Grimsby have lost just one in fourteen games, the loss coming away at Fulham a week ago. After Saturday's 4-0 demolition of Nottingham Forest, confidence is high in the Grimsby camp and Harvey's side fear nobody in their current form. Crystal Palace hosted the Mariners earlier on in the season and won 1-0, but Harvey says his men are now a much better team and have got used to life in the Coca Cola Championship. When asked if he thought Grimsby had a realistic chance of promotion, Harvey said "I don't see why not. If we keep playing like we have been doing then we have a good chance. We're under no illusions and we know how difficult this league is to get out of, never mind how difficult the premier league would be." Grimsby's first promotion came five seasons ago under Nathaniel Wimbledon, when they won Division 4. Grimsby then had trouble escaping from the third tier of English football, and neither Wimbledon nor Oliver Snell could manage it. Harvey came in early in the season, and took the Mariners from mid-table mediocrity to 2nd place, a position they achieved by the skin of their teeth on the last game of the season, thanks to two of their other rivals slipping up. Grimsby never looked back from there and have come on leaps and bounds, adding some youth to the squad as well as valuable experience. UP THE MARINERS!

  30. Re: Searching for a talented CB Hi Tim, For once I agree Ivanovic is a good shout, albeit a RB/CB on SM at present. I think Vermaelen will rise faster this season, and I could imagine a rise to 90 if Arsenal have a great season in the EPL and CL. Johnny Evans would be another good prospect, although he's only 87 and therefore unlikley to rise above 89 for now, I really like the way he plays. With Rio and Vidic injured quite often in preseason, I'm expecting the young irishman to get plenty of opportunities and minutes on the pitch. Stay away from Agger, although a good talent his constant back injuries are really beginning to worry me. Herby

  39. Re: East Anglia - Transfer/Match Reports Thread Division 1 Match Result Sunday 16th August 2009 Carrow Road (24,287 Attendance) Referee: Philippe Kalt Norwich City 0-1 Watford Giovinco (80) Sebastien Giovinco, celebrating the lone goal that gained Watford an important 3-points at Carrow Road. This game proved to be an enormous game for Chris Benton's Watford, as they managed to beat the league leaders, away from home and keep a clean sheet... which ticked all of Chris Benton's boxes. The game started off lively for Watford, with Edinaldo Grafite getting a chance to score straight away, but failing to capitalise. It then got equal between the sides as both players found themselves in great positions, and both goalkeepers having to work to keep their team in it. However, the half time whistle blew at a stalemate. The 2nd half picked up exactly from where the game left off, with both teams getting plenty of goal-scoring oppertunities. Norwich City keeper Edwin Van Der Sar made several top-class saves to keep his side on level-par with Watford. However, their luck fell short on the 80th minute, when Sebastien Giovinco was aloud far too much space by the Norwich defence and made no mistake by slotting it home from 10 yards out to put Watford 1-0 up. After the goal the game died down, which meant the final whistle blew at 1-0 Watford, a tremendous upset for the Norwich team and fans. Norwich City Starting XI (Formation 4-4-2)Van Der Sar Helveg --- Bordon --- Doherty --- Roberto Carlos Daley --- Gill --- Fotheringham --- Ze Roberto Cort --- Heskey Watford Starting XI (Formation 4-2-2-2) Loach Luizinho --- Welton Felipe --- Sakho --- Braafheid Motta ---- Airton Wilshere ------------ Giovinco Berg --- Grafite Transfer News "Out With The Old... In With The New!" The Old Scott Loach, latest player to leave Watford in Chris Benton's "make-over" of the club. Scott Loach has departed Watford, for a sum of £3.5M. Watford manager Chris Benton said he "had another player in mind" so therefore was willing to let Loach go. The New Shuichi Gonda, Benton's replacement for the departing Scott Loach. Shuichi Gonda, arrived at Vicarage Road immediately after Scott Loach's departure as an instant replacement. The player arrived from FC Tokyo for a fee of £1.4M and Right Back Gavin Hoyte will be joining Tokyo as part of the deal, due to not being included in Benton's plans for the club. Mysterious Arrival! Watford manager Chris Benton has also stated that there has been another bid accepted for a player which he did not state, and is only hours away from completion. However he did state that the fee accepted was in a region of £5M to £6M. It also includes Watford youngster Jordan Parkes departing Watford. More will be revealed in the next few hours.
