To be honest, I quite pleased that you didn't get the Campdell bid in time. Jokes aside, I'm sure you'll find an adequate replacement, but I agree, Mandzukic was a great option. Shrewsbury's attacking line is looking quite satisfying for the time being: Mario Mandzukic (Wolfsburg) Fwd/AM, rated 88, 24 years old Eren Derdiyok (Leverkusen) CF, rated 88, 22 years old Anthony Le Tallec (Auxerre) Fwd/Wing, rated 87, 25 years old Davide Lanzafame (Juventus) Fwd/AM, rated 86, 23 years old I have one other forward in mind, but I'm probably going to upgrade some other part of the squad instead.

Re: English Championship 7027 Match Report/Tranfer Gossip Thread West Ham Reveal Their New Manager The former West Ham manager, Bogie McGill decided to resign from the East London football club because of a big fallout between the manager and the chairman. Apparently Bogie was furious to find that the chairman had been spending money on players that weren't needed. Tony Pulis was the favourite for the West Ham job, he'd left Stoke City just a couple of weeks before and he was looking for another team. However, he couldn't agree terms with the West Ham chairman and the Hammers were still in need of a new manager. Dave Jones, Zven Goran Eriksson and Sam Allerdyce were all in line for the job but the three managers couldn't agree to sign up and West Ham still didn't have a manager. West Ham were becoming desperate but for days, a manager couldn't be found. Today however, an agreement was reached with Chazza Bones. Chazza has had experience with Swansea City, Sheffield Wednesday and Barcelona. West Ham were happy to finally get a manager and Chazza will start his managerial career at home to Dynamo Kiev in the SMFA Shield.

  12. Re: English Championship 2933 Reporting thread Leeds United Daily Young and El Zhar arrive at Elland road, Korean international Jin Kim leaves Leeds United have welcomed the post season signings of former England international Luke Young and young Morrocan winger Nabil El Zhar whilst Jin Kim has returned back to Korea after only one season at the West Yorkshire club. The arrivals of Young and El Zhar are a positive sign from manager Glory Days that he intends to continue the success of last season after being promoted from Division 3 through the play-off position. Luke Young joins the Whites after spending two seasons in Germany, Spain and Italy, the maligned fullback moved from the Villians as a bit part exchange for Ever Bangera from Valencia however he found life hard in Spain and at the end of the season enquired for a move elsewhere. A transfer to German Giants Bayern Munich seemed like a big move for a man that was often not seen as a big name to the club however he found first team opportunities scarce and after a well reported spat between Jurgen Klinsmann he was prepared to move again. After half a season in Italy, Young pined for a move to return back to England. Although there was interest from Transmere Rovers and Carisile United, Leeds United eventually won the signature of the verteran fullback "Leeds are a great club with a great history and with the assurance of first team football and a push for Premier league promotion, there was nowhere else in wanted to be" Young is seen as the systematic replacement for Dong Jin Kim, after the Korean international wanted to return home after a less than eventfull time at Elland road. Although he secured a first team spot under manager Glory Days, life in England was beginning to take its toll on himself and his family "My wife and I have had a hard time here in England, the weather hasn't been very good but our time here hasn't been all bad but I wanted to return home after a while and the manager respected my decision" The arrival of young livewire Nabil El Zhar from Valencia for a reported fee of 750k and Enoch Showunmi had signalled the intent of Leeds United in adding pace into their side. Leeds beat off interest from Darlington to secure their man who can play on the wing or in a more advanced role up front.

  13. JC's Detailed Guide To Success in Soccermanager *NEW: Just wanted to say not managed a team for a long time on SM now so I suspect several parts that I have mentioned below are now less relevant, out of date or even completely wrong, for example I believe unmanaged teams can now use any of 20+ formations so using 3-5-2 to beat the previously default 4-4-2 isn't going to work as well . . . Introduction This is my first post in the help section, so please bear with it, and feel free to give advice. I hope it is appreciated. It is very long, so feel free to skip sections, I have tried to highlight key words and sections. What I am hoping to do here is to put down here is most of what I have experienced* about SM over the past 4 years and hopefully help everyone from newcomers to experienced managers and clear-up some misconceptions Disclaimer All the advice will have varying success dependent on your league and your decisions and I cannot guarantee it is all accurate, as I lot of what I say is what I have generally observed and I do not have the evidence to back up a lot of the advice. I will divide the guide into two parts. The only way to improve your teams results is through Tactics or Player Transfers. You will need both, throughout soccer manager you will often see teams of average ratings 80, beat 90s. The match engine relies a lot on tactics, however it is clearly important for the long term to build a strong team. Tactics Use In-Game Instructions If your team is losing at 60 minutes it is rare on soccer manager that this result will be different at 90 minutes. For this reason you should at least make some changes to attempt to make difference. Equally if you are winning at 60 minutes don't make changes, as your formation is working well already. Possession Is The Key Statistic As evidence of this I have just looked at EC106 Div 2, a division with relatively equal sides but some differences, all very active managers who are playing every formation under the sun. Out of the 20 games, looking at the teams with greater possession 16 won, 2 drew 2 lost. Look at your own games and you will often find maybe 80% of games are won on possession. ( I have noticed it can often be inaccurate however if one team changes their formation significantly at some point midway through the game) I have to emphasise though I have never found a way to improve possession, trying formations like 3-6-1 with slow tempo and men behind ball, which you would have thought might improve your possession statistics, will have the same chances of success as any other formation Number Of Shots Is Less Important I hear many managers complain about the number of shots they had and still lost. The number of shots is clearly relevant but less so out of 20 games looking at the teams with the greater number of shots, 10 won 5 lost 4 drew, Possession is the best statistic to look at. Do Not Judge Players On Past Success Many a manager like to judge players on there recent number of goals or favouritism. I would argue selection should be based purely on -rating -position -morale -fitness. I believe The SM match engine can only recognise these 4 facts, and it will NOT KNOW that Dzeko is your favourite player and scored loads for your team last season, or that his rating will go up shortly (EDIT: this was when dzeko was rated 89!), so play Yakubu ahead of him! Edin Dzeko Top Teams Play 3-4-1-2 or 3-5-2 I have looked at a lot of the top teams in the top 100 managers page, mostly those teams with a high average points per game average, some in the region of 2.5 average points over 6+ seasons. I logged into the game worlds for a brief period with a very low club to check their tactics and league form. Now it goes without saying they generally have monster squads, however time and again they use a formation variation on 3-5-2 or 3-4-1-2, this isn't just a few teams, about 60% of the teams I looked at did, maybe 30 teams. My theory behind this is if you have a top team playing 3-5-2, it requires very good players to work, but it may well be consistent if this is the case, hence why I found it so often in the top teams. Also 3-5-2 generally beats the default 4-4-2 formation, again helping these teams. If you play 3-5-2 with a comparatively weaker team it often does not work. I have to state this is NOT a super formation that will necessarily work for you, and if you play it I would expect it too work only in a limited number of circumstances, (as explained above, and also commented on further below) 3-4-1-2, Attacking & Hard Tackling Again these three factors were recurring themes, (although not as common) in the top teams. 3-4-1-2 is more popular than 3-5-2, and generally with the team mentality set to attacking. With hard tackling, this possibly featured more as the squads were large enough to cope with any suspensions and I have never noticed a long term increase in red cards (this is very debatable though). However it will likely result in more injuries. All Formations Can Be Equally Effective I see many threads saying this formation will do well in a certain league or you should player wingers as they will be effective, but I feel it depends greatly on your league and players and I see very few with evidence behind these claims. I'm of the opinion that every formation is equal and that each will have a certain number of tactics it is strong against and an equal number it is weak against, (given the players are equal in rating and morale). Specific formations however can be stronger in a certain league, if some formations are more common your team is lower rated your team is higher rated or it regularly beats default 4-4-2 I cannot be certain of this though, so again take the advice with a pinch of salt. I would like to create a record of which tactics beat which, but there is so many variables it would be nigh on impossible, with billions of combinations. NEW* Secondary Positions Are Just As Effective If a player is a LB/RB for example then he will play equally effectively at either position. He will not play worse than a regular RB at RB. This is an age old question which causes much confusion but Im hoping this will help. http://forum.soccermanager.com/showthread.php?t=20772 The Dev's don't often answer questions (and they have ignored this particular question in the past) or say very much at all about the match engine, I think partially because they feel they may ruin the game and you should experiment yourself, but Ste has let something slip. This quote is taken from SM Dev Ste, under the improvements section about the introduction of preferred foot (the link above): "The players position is still the KEY thing to look at, if a player is LB/RB that means he will play equally good at either position despite his foot. A CM can play CM whatever foot he is etc. It will only effect players who are played out of position. For example if you have a CM who is left footed and you play him right wing he may well play worse than if you played him left wing." The key line being "if a player is a LB/RB that means he will play equally good at either position" More detail on this can be found here: http://forum.soccermanager.com/showthread.php?t=53703 Also now with the player position suggested position feature (you get a green square if he can play there effectively) this point looks to have been proved. The Match Engine Is Simplistic I'm of the opinion that you cannot take the match commentary very seriously or the match engine for that matter. The commentary appears to be almost randomly generated. You will notice you will never see a penalty given, despite being asked to pick a penalty taker? The quotes from the commentary are regularly repeated, even sometimes in the same order, and also many a time in the match commentary you will read about 4 shots on target and then the match statistics will say there was only 2 shots on target. Players Out Of Position If a player is played out of position I believe the match engine will treat him as a lower rated player. So if you play a CB at RB he will maybe drop 2 in rating. Play a CF in CM and he might drop 5 in rating. So it can be advantageous sometime to play players out of position if your only other option is a player 10 less in rating. (This is just a theory, however I think it is likely this is how it will work) Player Fitness Do not play players low on fitness, especially NMF. They are more likely to get injured, player with lower performance and will still be tired the next week so you may as well rest them now. I try not to play players below 80-90% (at worst). Exhausted Play Targetman/Playmaker if Comparatively High Rated I would advise using these two options when you have a player who is especially high rated for your league. These options will then emphasise his greater ability, give him more time on the ball and provide greater influence on the match. Raise Moral If a player is particularly low on moral I would advise giving him a new long contract. Moral will affect there performances and the new contract can often raise there moral by a significant amount. Substitutions If you have enough players I would recommend using substitutions. Even if they are lower rated replacements they will normally get high ratings on the match report and improve the team. It does however mean you will have more players lower on fitness Player Transfers Buy Risers As I'm sure you are aware one of the most important parts of this game is risers. I cannot emphasise this enough. It is often the only way to make money for small clubs, and you can make a lot of money especially in uncompetitive leagues up to 100 million+ a season (if you put in a lot of effort!). It is increasingly important with the latest improvements with cash injections (at the end of the season) now seemingly rarer and the “realistic attendances” generally reducing incomes. Buy Every Rising 10k Player I would recommend you buy every 10k player who might rise. 10k players have the largest percentage increase in value. Often for example 2900% for a moderate rise in value to 300k. Compared with rises in the 84 range where you might get a 100% increase in value. This means if you had 100k to spend and bought 100, 10k players you might get back 25mill! Although it would be important to consider wages. Wages normally are 3k/turn and players are transfer banned for 20turns so a 10k player in reality costs 70k+, so any rise would have to be more than this and this is also why it is perhaps not a good idea to stock up on these kind of players in estonia etc (which I learnt to my mistake) as they haven't reviewed them for 3 years . . .(SM has only been around for about 6 years total, they may as well not bother with these leagues if they are not going to review them) Constantly Invest As soon as players have risen and are of transfer ban try to reinvest your gains. Try to swap them (or swap two players), for a new riser (unless they themselves are going to rise again). Transfer listing them often means you lose value compared with what you get in a player exchange. Also I wouldn't worry if your losing money because wages are too high. Take it player by player if his rise will cover his wages then buy him. You will gain at the end of it, but you will need too sell the odd player to remain out of debt. Loads of risers can be found on threads on the forum or use websites to see who is starting in matches. Buy Players At Big Clubs Try to buy players at the "big" clubs, ie the likes of Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Barcelona and possibly some others like Sevilla. This is because they are almost guaranteed a 90+ rating for many many years, they don't necessarily have to be performing well, if they are low rated they can often rise rapidly and you will see the large majority of high rated players come from these teams. It can be tempting to buy players at smaller clubs who are talented and performing well (compared to for example a shaky but starting right back for Bayern) but it is much much harder for these players to gain 90+ ratings and they often will only rise to this level after years of amazing (and it is rare that they can maintain this) performances or until they move to a big club. So I would advise taking gambles on players that might break into the big teams. For example Thiago Motta, is an under-appreciated transfer, I feel he will will get a 92+ for a long time (EDIT: somewhat predictably he is now injured!). My Team: Preston North End (not a "big club"!), Talents I often feel many mangers/forumers concentrate on talents too much with very few of them ever making it. In uncompetitive leagues especially, I would advise leaving them and buy them later, when they actually look likely to rise or breakthrough regularly to a big team. For example I believe in 2006 Theo Walcott was rated maybe something in the region of 84 (correct me if I'm wrong) and now 8 SM seasons later he is 89 a surprisingly poor return. Save Money On Contracts This has already been said on previous threads, but try to sign long term risers on 5 year contracts, and if a player drops in rating get him to resign. This is because a player wages is determined by the rating at the current time. Wages jump up in levels at every 5 player rating ie at 80, 85, 90 ,95. Secure Loans If you are lower league team make an effort at the start of a season to try and secure some impressive loan signings. They can easily improve your team for free! Be a bit cheeky and send a few messages too the top teams enquiring (politely) if they might loan anyone, and you can often get players considerably better than those on the loan list. I would also strongly suggest reading Hesse's excellent guide, which goes into a lot more detail on securing loans and negotiating deals with managers within the transfer market, and has a lot of good points; http://forum.soccermanager.com/showthread.php?t=32238 There we go the end of the guide! Hope it was helpful and feedback would be hugely appreciated. *I have been a member since 2006, reputation of 356, 49th in the world with Stoke City in EC60 (though that has been going badly recently!) and manage in EC106, (arguably the most competitive and active setup there is) with Shorpe United.

  14. Found this on an add in Soccermanager, as an application of Facebook and it's definatly the best app ever on facebook. If you like FIFA UT, you'll like this. You build up your squad buying either bronze, silver or gold transfer packs and work your way up the footballing ladder. I'm currently level 4, starting yesterday. 20% through the Juniors A League. I train my players all the time, it makes them so much better and it just takes a click to do so. Here's my current squad: J. Szmatula - 58 K. Strugarek - 54, T. Newey - 54, A. Lindegaard - 53, M. Traore - 53 M. Heinz - 63, R.Gasmi - 63, A.Kwiek - 63, F.Cortas - 59 J. Keene - 66, L.Tumicz - 56 Hoping to get some Swansea players

  17. Julius Caesar once said: "The bravest Gauls are the Belgae." If only we were still now. Throughout the history of football, the Belgian national soccer team displayed a great deal of hard work and dedication, pride and bravery against some of the worlds finest associations. There was no challenge that was too though, every hurdle was to be taken. Numerous times Belgian players won prestigious awards on big tournaments. Michel Preud'Homme was the first ever goalie to recieve the Lev Yashin award in 1994, whilst Enzo Scifo was the best young player on the legendary World Cup of 1986. As one of the founding fathers of the institute that is the World Cup, Belgium has a rich past. As Olmypic Gold Medalist in 1920 for the home crowd in Antwerp, Belgium was a force to be reckoned with. Along with fellow powerhouses, they invented a tournament for countries around the globe without having to resort to Olympic measures. The World Cup was born. In the World Cup, there were nice victories over big countries, but never the taste of silverwear. It's important to know that to date, Belgium hasn't won an international football tournament since the 1920 Olympics. The eighties were an awesome time for this little country: Belgium finished second in the EC of 1980, and finished fourth in the WC of 1986, only to be denied by the genius that is/was Diego Armando Maradona. At club level, golden years emerged: It's fair to say Belgium was the football capital between 1975 and 1986. Since then, decline hit the country hard. Belgium still went on a nice streak as one of the countries that's been at the WC most in a row, only behind 2 others. Since 2002 it stopped. No tournaments were made, coaches got fired, players were simply not good enough. We can all blame the KNVB or Koninklijke Belgische Voetbalbond (Royal Belgian Football Association). The old men that take part of this ancient institute still believe they are in 1982, that everything will turn alright by itself and that there's just a momentarily dip. In short, they are the reason Belgium is performing very below par. In terms of talent, we have a top 10 team in the world, in terms of management we have to be lucky to placed higher than Oman and Tibet on the Fifa-ranking. We'll just have to wait till a miracle occurs. And what do you know, it's happening! Belgium has the extreme luck to welcome what very well could be one the most talented youth squads in the history of football. GK: Simon Mignolet (21), Thomas Kaminski (18) Def: Thomas Vermaelen (24), Vincent Kompany (24), Jan Vertonghen (23), Toby Alderweireld (21), Odoi (22), Funso Ojo (18), Dedryck Boyata (19) Mid: Mats Rits (17), Eden Hazard (19), Maxime Lestienne (18), Kevin de Bruyne (18), Guillaume Francois (20), Yassine El Ghanassy (19), Stijn Wuytens (20), Mehdi Carcela-Gonzalez (21), Axel Witsel (21), Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe (21), Marouane Fellaini (22), Steven Defour (22), Jonathan Legear (23), Dries Mertens (23) Fwd: Romelu Lukaku (17), Moussa Dembele (22) This is our youth squad people! For the record, he are our "older" players: Daniel Van Buyten (32), Jelle van Damme (26), Igor De Camargo (27), Nicolas Lombaerts (25), Maarten Martens (26) and a few others, dependant on form. Our biggest liability is our new coach, Georges Leekens. He's a good coach, but not one that brings out the best of a national team. His habitat is the sort of team that is projected to finish 15th, which he steers to 7th place. That's George Leekens. A squad that's bursting of potential but that needs discipline and most of all tactical awareness is going nowhere. We have got to act now, as the players above are the Wesley Sneijders, Arjen Robbens, Rafael Van Der Vaarts 8 years ago. Our northern neighbours have a country equal in size to ours, and they had the same young and potentially great squad as ours 8 years ago. Today they reached the final of a WC, I can't help but think that's in Belgium's reach too. Here follows what I believe has to be the squad today, in 2 years time should we reach the EC and in 2 years time should we reach the Olympics: Today: Stijnen (29) Lombaerts (25) Kompany (24) Vermaelen (24) van Damme (26) Fellaini (22) Defour (22) Witsel (21) | | Legear (23) | Hazard (19) | | Lukaku (17) | Second option is to drop Legear, move Hazard to left flank, and play Dembele (22) up front. Fellaini would move to the AM slot. EC 2012: Mignolet (24) Alderweireld (23) Kompany (26) Vermaelen (26) Vertonghen (25) Fellaini (24) Defour (24) Witsel (23) De Bruyne (20) Hazard (21) Lukaku (19) Two remarks. Both Alderweireld and Vertonghen are atm NOT able to play consecutive solid games at RB and LB. They need to be re-schooled, or new talent has to emerge fast. Odoi is an option at LB, maybe. Second remark is the emergence of De Bruyne. He's only now breaking through, but he has all what it takes to be a top player. Olympics 2012: Kaminski (20) Boyata (21) Alderweireld (23) Vermaelen (26) De Bock (19) Odjidja-Ofoe (23) Defour (24) El Ghanassy (21) De Bruyne (20) Hazard (21) Lukaku (19) A fair few remarks here. All depends on how talents develop, if new players emerge, will top teams let their players go for the Olympics, injuries and more. At the Olympics, every contry may bring three players over the age of 23, as long as the rest is 23 or below. In essence, we do not need this, but it would be smart to bring along a player like Vermaelen who has plenty of international experience. World class players like Hazard and Lukaku will have multiple seasons at high level under their belt when they take on what could feel like a bunch of kids. As said, it's a bit looking in the dark, but this team would get far, really far. PS: You would have a bench consisting out of a dozen young players all equally as good to play. I hope everyone enjoyed reading this, if they did, and that they keep an eye out for Belgium. You'll never know, one day talent may turn into gold.

  18. I know that quite a few of these have already been mentionned, but I really don't have the time (ironic, no?) to search them all. Consider it a compliment, I am not taking credit for them. If you have any thanks to offer, thank Teb. He's the one responsible. If it weren't for his Spartak having all the talent in GC1, I never would've had to make this list This is a random list. Some for the future, some for now... I won't highlight the best of them, if you can't be bothered to read a bit, well, you don't really deserve them. 1.Blerti HADARI - 18 - 70 - M - KF Tirana Though he hasn't made any appearances yet for the top, an only on sm, Albanian side, he has shun at the U19 and is known as one of the top prospects in this country. He has also just started playing for Tirana this year, and turned 18 in september, so he is a "young" 18. 2.Ergis SORRA - 19 - 70 - F - KF Tirana He has also impressed in the Albanian U19 side, and has been waiting for his chance for a while. He is finally getting matches in with the Albanian giants, and could see a +5 or more rise in the next rating changes. 3.Juan MERCIER - 28 - 84 - CM/RM - Argentinos Juniors Mercier joined Argentinos last season and took a while to establish himself, but he is now a starter, having started all but two matches. He also has a goal to his name, a small rise should be in store. 4.Gonzalo PROSPERI - 23 - 82 - LB - Argentinos Juniors Prosperi is another who joined Argentinos and took a while to adapt. After one season at Godoy Cruz, he was having trouble getting some time on the pitch. That's no longer a concern, he has started 8 of 12, adding a sub appearance. 5.Jeronimo BARRALES - 21 - 85 - F - Banfield Since breaking into the Banfield lineup with a bang (hat trick) in 2006, Barrales has played second fiddle to both Pavlovic (Arsenal) and Cvitanich (Ajax). Now, as the stats show, he leads the Banfield front line, starting all but two, in which he featured as a sub. Also has two goals, could be in for a rise, defitatly on to watch out for. 6.Nilo CARRETERO - 22 - 69 - LM/AM - Banfield Since I did my thread on the whole of Banfield last year, I've been keeping an eye on him. Makes a substitute appearance every 10 games or so, it's disappointing, but he is a decent player, who just needs his chance. 7.Emanuel PIO - 20 - 80 - CM/DM - Banfield So here's a guy I totally omitted while doing a thread on his whole team. Brilliant, Mark. Anyways, this 20 year old gem has started all but one match this season. He has the 4th most minutes on Banfield, and is the lowest rated starter. 8.Jesus DATOLO - 24 - 88 - LM/AM - Boca Juniors Datolo, in my opinion, should be a 90. We will see if SM will be generous. Datolo has played all but one match this season on the flank. He is starting to be well known for his perfectly placed crosses. I wouldn't be surprised to see him move to Europe sooner or later. He has 2 goals to his name this season. 9.Juan FORLIN - 20 - 71 - CB - Boca Juniors Forlin has made two starts and one substitute appearance this year; he is on a a thin backline for Boca. Being able to play anywhere in defense, he is being brought in slowly, but should start making an impact in the coming months. 10.Javier Hernan GARCIA - 21 - 80 - Gk - Boca Juniors Garcia started coming in for the injured Caranta early in the season. After Caranta returned, bad form sent him back to the bench, and Garcia has been performing admirable. If the changes were today, he's be an 84. But the longer we wait, the higher he goes. He was also Sergio Romero's backup for the Argentina team that won the U20 World Cup. 11.Pablo MOUCHE - 21 - 76 - F - Boca Juniors Another benched member of that U20 team, Mouche is well rated in the Boca system, he has even been given squad #7. Having appeared in 4 matches, his goal and assist look pretty good. Has stiff competition up front, but he is one to watch. 12.Ezequiel MUNOZ - 18 - 75 - CB - Boca Juniors Hasn't broken into Boca yet, but there are already Milan talks for this talented 18 year old. Buy him now if you have the chance. 13.Osvaldo NICOLAS GAITAN - 20 - 72 - CM - Boca Juniors Highly rated 20 year old has only started one game. BUT, he has 10 sub apps, totalling 282 mins. Oh, and did I forget to mention his 4 goals? 14.Ricardo NOIR - 21 - 73 - F - Boca Juniors Starting to get annoyed at Boca. Where do they find these? Noir has been exellent this season, picking up 6 starts and 5 sub apps, for 565 mins. He has 2 goals and two assists in the process, another big riser. 15.Gabriel PALETTA - 22 - 87 - CB - Boca Juniors Liverpool reject is doing great at Boca. Started every single match, played every single minute. Is the lowest rated of the back 4. Hm. 89? 90? 16.Fabian VARGAS - 28 - 88 - DM - Boca Juniors The only player other than Paletta to start every match, this Inter disappointment is holding the young attack of Boca quite well. The Columbian international alse has two goals to his name. I'd rate him a 90. 17.Lucas VIATRI - 21 - 75 - F - Boca Juniors The pick of the bunch for Boca. This 75 rated striker has started 11, subbed into 1, scored 6 goals, and added 4 assists to his name. Absolutly unbelievable stats for a newcomer to the squad. Maybe more young Argentines should start their careers in Ecuador, then move to Venezuela before going to a big name club! 18.Mauro BOSELLI - 23 - 85 - F - Estudiantes He was always behind so many great players at Boca, never really got a fair shot. Well, fair shot he has. He has taken advantage of it, too. Taking a load off the aging José Calderon, Boselli has 9 starts and 2 subs, scoring 6 and assisting on 2. Could very well be a future 90. 19.Ivan MORENO Y FABIANESI - 29 - 88 - CM/RM - Estudiantes Playing most games alongside Veron, and doing a great job. I wouldn't be surprised to see "El Matador" head back to his homeland to a mid-class Liga side. I think he should be an 89-90. 20.Juan Jose ARRAYA - 22 - 80 - CF - Gimnasia de Jujuy 22 year old has become a regular, he has 2 goals in 8 starts, plus 5 subs. Rise to 83. 21.Nestor MARTINERA - 21 - 79 - F - Gimansia de la Plata 21 year old is starting to break in. He has a goal on 423 minutes for Gimnasia. 22.Franco NIELL - 25 - 81 - F - Gimnasia de la Plata Tiny striker (5'4) is back in Argentina after his loan to DC United of the USA. He is getting big minutes this season, 9 starts and 2 subs, punching in 2 goals. 23.Nelson IBANEZ - 26 - 74 - G - Godoy Cruz Starting keeper, what else needs to be said. When a 74 rated keeper starts every match in top flight Argentina... Rise expected, about 80? 24.Ariel ROJAS - 22 - 71 - M - Godoy Cruz Rojas has taken everyone by srprise by taking a midfield job in Godoy Cruz. He has started 6, and subbed in 3, totalling 542 mins. 25.Leandro CARUSO - 24 - 75 - W - Godoy Cruz Went off the map in 2006 after a few years at Arsenal de Sarandi, but boy is he back. 4 goals in 8 starts, adding in 5 sub appearance, he is now a striker, and a key striker in Godoy's survival in the top flight. 26.Ivan NADAL - 21 - 73 - LB - Huracan Young left back hasn't taken Huracan by storm (no pun intended), but he has been a regular substitute, which should mean a few extra rating points. 27.Juan Manuel INSAURRALDE - 24 - 82 - CB - Newell's Old Boys Insaurralde has made the open starter's job his on the Newell defensive line with inspired performances, and two goals as well. 10 starts added in, and he should get a +3/+4 28.Diego TORRES - 26 - 83 - F/W - Newell's Old Boys After losing a striker in the transfer window, they promoted Diego Torres to the pitch. 2 goals in 11 starts gives him a small rise. 29.Leandro TORRES - 20 - 79 - RM - Newell's Old Boys Good year for the Torres' at Newell. This younger one, who has stuck to his hometown club throughout his youth, has 660 minutes played, 8 starts and 3 substitute appearances. Due for a nice little rise. 30.German CAFFA - 28 - 74 - G - Newell's Old Boys Is clubless on the database, but he has signed with Newll as a free agent. Has 4 starts so should have a few points increase. 31.Gabriel MERCADO - 21 - 85 - CB/RB - Racing Club Former U-20 international has been slowly taking over a starting spot last season. This season, it is his. 10 starts of 13, he should go up to 87. 32.Lihue Dario PRICHODA - 19 - 77 - RM - Racing Club Prichoda is one of the few teenagers who has made an impact this season. He has 7 sub appearances to go with his 6 starts. 33.Franco ZUCULINI - 18 - 78 - RM/CM - Racing Club Zuculini is one of the few teenagers who has made an impact this season. He has 13 starts, out of a possibility of 13. Chipped in with 1 goal, he is a must buy. 34.Jose SCHAFFER - 22 - 74 - LB - Racing Club For some reason, he spend one year in Sweden with Gothenburg, but never made the first side. It's not a problem he has had in Avellanada, starting every signle match for Racing. Must buy. 35.Pablo CABALLERO - 22 - 71 - Racing Club I don't know much about him to be honest, but he has 9 sub appearances. 36.Mateo MUSACCHIO - 18 - 75 - CB/RB - River Plate Won't get a rise, but he is one for the future. Already a U20 international, Musacchio made his primera début at the age of 16. He is very highly touted. 37.Gustavo BOU - 18 - 73 - AM/F - River Plate I'm reluctant to give ANY increases to a River Plate who are dead last, but Bou is turning out to be their silver lining. 4 starts, 1 goal, and he is playing very well of late. 38.Jorge BROUN - 22 - 80 - G - Rosario Central Rosario have also been underachieving, but it would be very harsh to deny the man who has started every match but one a rise. 39.Alexis DANELON - 22 - 82 - RB/RM - Rosario Central Well sure, Rosario have been bad, but at least they are developping new youth, unlike River. Danelon has started every match and is in for an increase. Has also scored twice, which is unbelievable for a 5'8 defender. 40.Diego BRAGHIERI - 21 - 82 - CB/LB - Rosario Central Braghieri is another main cog of the youth movement, being solid at centre back, he has 11 starts under his belt. 41.Mariano PAGLIALUNGA - 20 - 72 - RM/LM - Rosario Central One of the younger players, he has 3 starts and 5 subs this season to add to a few appearances late last season. He scored a goal against Velez, should be in for a nice little rise. 42.Jonathan David GOMEZ - 18 - 75 - AM - Rosario Central Unexpectedly jumped into the squad this season and matches Paglialunga for appearances. Should get a small rise, he is one to watch for the future. 43.Nicolas BIANCHI ARCE - 21 - 82 - CB - San Lorenzo Starting defender for the league leaders? Yeah I guess he could be in for a rise. 44.Jose SAN ROMAN - 20 - 77 - RB/RM - Tigre 45.Pablo FONTANELLO - 24 -77 - CB - Tigre Tigre are surprisingly doing very well this season, these two defenders both have 6 starts and 2 sub appearances, both over 500 mins. This should get them to 80, at least. 46.Marton Gerardo MOREL - 28 - 84 - AM/F - Tigre Well, sure he is rated well. But this guy has quitly achieved 9 goals in ten games. This eserves a small rise, no? 47.Omar TOBIO - 19 - 80 - CB - Velez Sarsfield Tobio made his name last year, I think he was in the high 60's or low 70's. Anyways, he hasn't let go, starting 8 and subbing into 2, he deserves his 85. 48.Ricardo GASTON DIAZ - 20 - 80 - RB/RM Velez Sarsfield Well, he has played more than Tobio, so I expect about the same rise. He has started in 10 and subbed into two. 49.Ivan BELLA - 19 - 75 - RM - Velez Sarsfield Not exactly lighting the world on fire, but a start and 5 subs should be enough to gain him a few points. Keep an eye on him. 50.Jonathan CRISTALDO - 19 - 80 - F - Velez Sarsfield A biit like Tobio, he went up a lot last time, but hasn't stopped. 4 goals in 11 starts should get him to 85 as well. 51.Paul REID - 29 - 74 - RB - Adelaide United Sure, he won't ever be huge, but could be in for a +4, he has started 8 of ten for Adelaide. 52.Scott JAMIESON - 20 - 75 - LM - Adelaide United 20 year old has started 9 and subbed into one. Based on those stats, a small rise is expected. He spent three years with Bolton, so Europe isn't out of the question 53.Bradley PORTER - 21 - 73 - CM/DM - Central Coast Mariners After a season with the feeder club, he was ready to make the step. 9 out of 10 starts later, he is in for a rise. 54.Evan BERGER - 21 - 64 - LM - Melbourne Victory He will be a +10 riser, at least. Though the value won't go up by much. Anyways, he has 9 starts out of ten for Melbourne, and subbed into the other. 55.Jobe WHEELHOUSE - 23 - 74 - Newcastle United Jets Wheelhouse was injured for a whole season, but has come back now. He has 9/10 starts. 56.Marko JESIC - 19 - 68 - F - Newcastle United Jets Had to mention him because of his Wikipedia entry : "Marko Jesic is the best player going around and is set to sign with Chelsea F.c" That being said, he has one start and one goal this season. So who knows 57.Shannon COLE - 18 - 68 - LB/LM - Sydney FC He is a big riser for the A-League. Could possibly get +10. The left wingback has 9 starts, 1 sub appearance, 2 goals, and has been called up to the Australian national team. And he's just 18. 58.Oliver PUSZTAI - 27 - 77 - RB/CB - Austria Karnten He finally moved away from his native Hungary. Pusztai is a defender who has started 8 in Austria, which is good for 81/82. 59.Haris BUKVA - 20 - 78 - W/AM - Austria Karnten After a few seasons on loan, this youth squad talent has 7 starts and 7 subs for the big team. Should rise to about 82 for now, talent to keep an eye on. 60.Atdhe NUHIU - 19 - 74 - CF - Austria Karnten U20 Austrian international, but wants to play for Albania at the senior level, his application for citizenship is in. On the domestic scene, has 7 subs, totaling 100 mins. So keep an eye out. 61.Rubin OKOTIE - 21 - 83 - CF - FK Austria Wien This Hulk of a man, born in Pakistan, has been a part of the NT at every level so far, eventually he will make the jump. For now though, he has become one of the main players for Wien, with 4 goals in 14 apps. Should jump to 85. 62.Thomas PIERMAYR - 19 - 74 - RM/RB - LASK Linz The defense is pretty much set and there is no breaking into it. However. Piermayr is doing a pretty good job. 1 start only, but 11 subs totalling 319 minutes, and 2 goals. Surpringly the subs are mainly for Gansterer and not 39 year old warrior Michael Baur. 63.Marc JANKO - 25 - 85 - CF - Red Bull Salzburg Where did he come from? Goes from unknown, to absolutly amazing! I've checked a few sources, including the official Bundesliga website, they all say the same thing. Marc Janko has 9 starts, 2 subs, 993 minutes, SEVENTEEN goals and 3 assists. AND he is now a player on the international stage for Austria. Get him. Now 64.Christoph STUCKLER - 28 - 78 - D/DM - Rheindorf Altach He has started every game and has 2 goals. Rise to 81. 65.Stefan MAIERHOFER - 26 - 85 - CF - SK Rapid Wien 6'8 ex Bayern man is also now in the Austrian national setup, he has played a bit more than Janko (14 starts), but hasn't scored nearly as much (10 goals). Then again, since when is 10 goals in 14 matches something to laugh at? I'm curious to see what SM will do with these two skillful giants. 66.Josef SCHICKLGRUBER - 41 - 82 - G - SK Sturm Graz Yes, he is 41. He has taken over the starters role and should be 84. Since when does age matter for a keeper? 67.Pavel NEKHAICHIK - 20 - 74 - LM - BATE Forgive me for knowing nothing about it, at least I tried Belarus. This kid scored against Zenit in the Champions League, and is apparently doing great domestically as well. 68.Aleksandr IAKOVENKO - 21 - 80 - AM/LM - Anderlecht Not much of a rise, maybe 83? He has 2 starts and 5 sub appearances, but 2 goals to his name. 69.Bakary Sare - 18 - 72 - CB/DM - Anderlecht Well, he has over 100 mins for Anderlecht. And he wears # 99. So he must be good. He also played in UEFA cup against Bayern as a 17 year old... so they like him, obviously. 70.Chris KAMULETE-MAKIESE - 21 - 73 - CF - Charleroi One start and 4 sub appearances, should be 76. Keep an eye if he keeps going. He is on loan from Lille. 71.Gertjan DE METS - 21 - 72 - DM - Club Brugge He has 272 mins in the first ten matches, so we should see more of him as the season goes along. Deserves 77 for now. 72.Daniel CHAVEZ - 20 - 82 - F - Club Brugge Scouts are raving about Sanchez, and so many clubs want him, it's hard to believe. He has 1 goal only this season, used mainly in a sub role, 8 subs, to add to his 1 start. 73.Dieter WITTESAELE - 19 - 75 - F/W - Dender EH 3 goals in 8 matches, 3 of them starts. Bought from Gent in the summer, don't be surprised if he goes back to a big club. 74.Roberto ROSALES - 19 - 83 - RM/RB - KAA Gent Already a Venezuelan international, Rosales has started every single match. He is solid, I wouldn't be surprised to see an 85. 75.Yanis PAPASSARANTIS - 20 - 75 - LM - KSV Roeselare Papassarantis, of obvious Greek descent, broke into the first team this year. He has 6 starts and 1 sub appearance, making for 527 mins. We can expect a 78-79 for now. 76.Ouwo Moussa MAAZOU - 20 - 80 - CF - Lokeren The Nigerien (Niger, not Nigeria) striker has made quite an impression this year : in 9 starts, he has 6 goals. 77.Vitorio VILLANO - 20 - 73 - RM/AM - Tubize I'd be surprised if he stays in Tubize long. Exiting flank player, started 6 and subbed in once. He isn't popular in Liege, after injuring Defour in practice last season. 78.Pereira EDSON - 23 - 80 - G - Atletico Mineiro Has take over the starters role this season, and has played 20 matches this season. 79.Rodrigues MARCIO ARAUJO - 24 - 83 - CM/DM - Atletico Mineiro Led Botafogo in time on the pitch, including defenders and keepers. Over 2500 mins, in 30 starts, and added in two goals. He should get a nice little rise. 80.Henrique RENAN OLIVEIRA - 18 - 75 - AM/F - Atletico Mineiro One of the leaders of Botafogo, we have a potential +10 here. 22 starts for the attacking mid, and scored 5 goals. 81.Jose CASTILLO - 25 - 79 - CF - Atletico Mineiro Not a key player, but still managed 14 starts and 8 sub appearances. Also has 2 goals to his name. 82.Rodrigo GALATTO - 25 - 82 - G - Atletico Paranaense Took over the starters role. 26 starts for Atletico Paranaense. Rise to 85. 83.Luis CHICO - 21 - 72 - CM - Atletico Paranaense Yet another possibility of +10. Chico hasn't gotten on the scoresheeet, but had 17 starts and 4 sub appearances, over 1700 minutes of play. 84.Rodrigues RENAN - 19 - 73 - DM - Atletico Paranaense Renan isn't as much of a riser as the others, but he is still a good buy for smaller teams. Over 500 minutes, he has played 6 full games. 85.dos Santos RENAN - 19 - 78 - G - Botafogo Unlike rumours spreading, he hasn't taken over the starters role. He is sharing it with Castillo. However, Castillo is at 86, and the are about even (15 starts to Castillo's 18). 86.Jose da Silva EDSON - 22 - 75 - CB - Botafogo Not going to be a big riser by any means, but he does have over 600 minutes for Botafogo's defense. 87.Luciano TRIGUINHO - 29 - 80 - LB/LM - Botafogo Botafogo have kept a pretty consistent back line most of the season, and Triguinho was in it. The others are rated between 85 and 87. His 2000 minutes should get him the same. 88.Garcia Leal ZE CARLOS - 28 - 83 - LB/DM - Botafogo Ze Carlos should be switched to DM, that's where he has been playing. Anyways, 12 starts 9 subs, for 4 goals, should get him an increase. 89.Farias VANDERLEI - 24 - 75 - G - Coritiba Coritiba are a team who have been outstanding, and their starting keepr deserves a +7/+8. He has 735 mins this season, should be around 77. Also has a goal. 93.Santos RODRIGO MANCHA - 22 - 78 - DM - Coritiba Second on the team in starts, he has nearly 2400 mins. Stats speak for themselves over a whole season. 94.Carneiro KEIRRISON - 19 - 83 - F - Coritiba The kid has 25 starts, and 1 sub. He has been talked about a lot, mainly because of his 16 goals. 95.Henrique BRUNO AGUIAR - 22 - 75 - CB - Figueirense 18 starts and 6 subs make him a key player in the backline, though they have been underachieving. 96.Silva WILLIAM MATHEUS - 18 - 73 - LB/CB - Figueirense Not quite as important as Bruno Aguiar, but almost 1000 mins nonetheless for the 18 year old. 97.Antonio MARQUINHO - 22 - 80 - DM - Figueirense One of the playmakers of this side, he played 16 full matches, scoring twice. 98.Vinicius TARTA - 19 - 77 - AM/F - Figueirense Has appeared in most matches, 11 as a starter and 12 as a substitute. However 1300 minutes should still get him an 83. 105.Fabio PEREIRA - 29 - 86 - CB - Gremio Yes, 4 Gremio defenders worth mentionning. Pereira has over 2200 minutes, as well as a goal. Should be closer to 89, though will probably get 87 only. 106.Henrique WILLIAN MAGRAO - 21 - 80 - Gremio 3 goals in 1900 minutes, over 22 starts, Willian is one of the best buys you can get in Brazil... 107.Pereira RAFAEL CARIOCA - 19 - 80 - Gremio ... however, it's not even close to what Carioca has achieved. Over 2500 minutes from midfield, Rafael could hit 87 if SM arn't too conservative. The pick of the bunch, has already been linked with a move to Italy. 108.de Souza DOUGLAS COSTA - 18 - 75 - Gremio Probably the best prospect on this team, has just started playing recently. Up to 87. 110.Bittencourt DANNY MORAIS - 23 - 74 - CB - International 1000 minutes in the Inter back 4 is worthy of a nice rise for Danny. 111.Barcellos TAISON - 20 - 75 - AM - Internacional The fact that he has started 15 and subbed in 10 is amazing, considering that he has d'Allessandro and Dani Carvalho on the same team, in the same position. Taison has a 33 million euro release clause, and is a must-buy. 112.Leal Fonseca FERNANDO - 27 - 75 - G - Ipatinga Started about half the matches, should be good for 80. 113.Jesus Sousa DERLEY - 22 - 72 - CM - Nautico He has started lately, stringing together 6 starts. I may do another percentage based one of the pick time to auto-pick time ratio. Shock leader at the moment with Johnny C leading the way () though this is mainly due to nearing the maximum on the first 3 drafts when the competition was still settling. For those, like me who find the legends difficult to distinguish the order from fastest to slowest is as follows: Borussia, Red Star, Vitesse, Rapid, Real, Academica, Atletico, Royal, Arsenal, Vitoria, Esperance, Deportivo, Racing, United, Petro, Impact, Olympique, Nacional, Hearts, Stade, Alianza, Sparta, Ajax, City, Sporting, International, Red Bull, Juvenal, Dynamo, Wanderers, Municipal, Young Boys I've given all short-listed picks a time of 0 minutes and all auto-picks the auto-pick time at that point in the draft. It's up-to-date as of pick #952 EDIT: Now updated as of #979

Dont go for Sanchez, hes not too good but if your not sure on Pedro Leon then get Marin, there the two you should aim for. If Ozil moves he could have a big role next season.

The two strikers Dylan signed on a 4 year contract are Honorato Nilmar and Givanildo Hulk. Nilmar joins Middlesbrough in a deal which sees Lee Miller and Ahmed Hossam Mido head the other way, and Hulk joined for a fee of Barry Robson and Didier Digard. Both players should make a great partnership and should help Middlesbrough gain promotion to the premier league. Both players will join Motta and Pedro in the starting eleven, with Dylan looking for another 7 players to join his starting eleven team, who should all arrive very soon. So far Dylan Ritchie has signed Thiago Motta, Rodriguez Pedro, Honorato Nilmar and Givanildo Hulk, with many more stars looking to sign very soon.

  43. Re: English Championship 2933 Reporting thread Leeds United Daily Pienaar: "We are capable of winning the title" Leeds United talisman and South African star Steven Pienaar made a bold statement that Leeds United are capable of winning the Division Two title. The statement was even made more sensational as Leeds United were just promoted into Division two through the Division Three playoff final. However Pienaar has higher hopes this season for the Peacocks "I think that we have a very capable playing group that on our day can be beat anyone. If we have a good run of form and injuries don't hit us too hard, I think we are capable of winning the title" Although Pienaar had a patchy season at best with 3 goals and 4 assists, he played an important part in the impressive 4-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers in the play off final, firing two goals and having a hand in another. The former Everton player squashed possible rumours that linked him away from Elland Road "Why would I leave? We have just been promoted into Division Two and we are building for a strong push for promotion into the Premier League" The 28 year old South African international states that he is encouraged with the additions that the club has made so far in the post season " I have played against Luke Young when he was at Aston Villa and he is an experienced campaigner that can add a touch of class to our defense and I'm looking forward to playing with El Zhar, he seems like a young man that is very capable" Leeds United campaign starts on the 7th of August against Birmingham City at St Andrews

  46. Re: English Championship 7027 Match Report/Tranfer Gossip Thread New Boss on the South Coast At 7:36 tonight a shock announcement was made. Brighton and Hove Albion manager Gus Poyet was set to step down from the club due to family issues. The club situated on the south coast had been left without a manager 7 days before the new season , with a poor looking first team and a promotion campaign to plan for. Things needed to be sorted quickly and within the hour chairman Tony Bloom had planned and arranged interviews with some of the countrys finiest managers , set expectations for the season and announced to fans that a decision would be made by the end of the evening , and it was. Local man Ashley Duffy who has little expierence compared to the likes of Curbishley and Scolari who were linked to the post was made manager with instent effect and would be aloud to dable in the transfer market as funds were made avalible. Interview Some people have suggested that you have only been selected due to living near brighton how true is this? I have to admit that may of helped as the club didnt really want to be forking out for a manager who would have to move all the way down south and whos family may get unsettled just like Poyet's did so i think it helped alot that im only a 20 minute journey up on the train . A few of you friends are fans of the club , will they effect any decisions you make? Of course not , im the manager there the fans i will be making the decisions around here. I will only be talking to them about the club when i ask for feedback on how good the squad is looking or how well we are doing in the league not who to sign or what formations to play. Will your love for local rivals Southampton effect your job as manager? No not at all , as soon as i went into the interview i let Tony Bloom know that even though im a Saint at heart i will try my hardest to get this club to where they belong and that is in division 1. Falmer is here next year are you excited ? Falmer will be huge for everyone connected to the club and of course im excited about it. The withdean isnt the most impresive stadium in the world but at the moment it will have to do and hopefully we can be in division 2 before we offically open the stadium .

  47. Re: English Championship 7027 Match Report/Tranfer Gossip Thread NEW BOSS AT VILLA Today, Aston Villa have released a statement confirming that Kieran Tidy has signed a managerial contract with the club, replacing Martin O'Neill in the Villa hot seat. who has retired from the game. Many fans are suprised at the recruitment of Tidy but he promises fans there is nothing to worry about going into the 2010/11 campaign. Over previous seasons Villa have been flirting with European places in the Barclays Pemier League, and last saw them land 6th position, meaning the club were handed a Europa League Play-off position, but Tidy has told the fans providing a positive pre-season and landing the signings he has anticipated, he sees no reason why they cannot go one better and land a Champions League position that many Villians have been craving. Speaking on his appointment at the club, Tidy said, "Aston Villa are a fantastic club with great ambition, I'm sure many can see that. When I first met the Chairman (Randy Lerner) he highlighted the ambitions of the club and what he was expecting from me were I to sign, and I felt that with the team and budget avaliable I could achieve what he was asking. They is already a solid team full of class players here, the mix of experience and youth brings a great balance into the side and I am confident the fans at Villa Park will not be disappointed this season." Tidy sees a tasty Premier League season ahead of him, with a very busy schedule and the league getting more competitve every season, Tidy will have a big task in front of him if he is too guide his Villa side to the top. Ahead of the new season, he said, "We've been working very hard this pre-season and the lads are confident that we can take good form into the Premier League season. My team is not complete yet though, there will still be a lot of in's and outs in the next few days, but these signings will be adding quality to what we already have and bulding the ideal squad, I have always believed in having two for every position as this gives you a number of options to change it around if you have an injury/suspension to deal with." Tidy faces a difficult opening game to his debut Premier League season as a manager, with Everton visiting Villa Park to open a campaign that Tidy has explained as "challenging but successful" for Villa. Due to last season's finish, Villa have also landed a place in the SMFA Shield, being placed in Group D alongside Sporting CP, Spartak Moskva and PSV Eindhoven. "We face a difficult opening to the season and the pile-up of fixtures won't be easy on the players as fitness is key to a teams success, but the lads are happy that they are finally back in the season and can't wait for 8pm on Saturday to get this campaign underway."

  49. Re: Tom's Library: Universal SMEL Analysis (TL: USMELA) Two Doctors walk into a bar Profile: Smartdoc's Rapid Eye Movement Key Players: Cesc Fabregas - a heir to Xavi. Need I say more? John Terry - The former England skipper has had a fair share of troubles recently, but none of that was seen on the pitch. Expect him to take care of any holes left - as usual. Robinho - A lot of hopes may come onto his shoulder. If Rapid is to advance, he will need to become a bit more consistent and not be a complete mood player. Young stars: Daniel Aleksic and Gabriel Obertan. The Weak Link: Extremely solid team. Most of the teams will have a hard time breaking down both the defence and midfield and the attack, while extremely inconsistent, could be completely lethal on it's day. However, while I don't doubt Fiorillo's talents, putting the youngster under such pressure is very risky. Good full-backs possibly would be able to close down wings as well. Best Line-up Formation - Shifting wide 4-2-2-2 Fiorillo Motta - Terry - Henrique - Agger Fabregas - Carrick Obertan ---------- Elia Robinho - Adriano Comparison Doctor Evil While it may not be so obvious at first, the more you think about it, the more you realize that Smartdoc is Doctor Evil. Constant disappearances for all kind of operations (surgeries, I believe, they are called) is not a coincidence. Tom's Prediction With the right tactics, definitely a Top 4 material team. Main weapon against this team would be frustrating and tiring them with waves after waves after waves. Injuring Fabregas could also work for your benefit. Profile: Phillip's Borussia Key Players: Carles Puyol - The ever-green Barcelona skipper doesn't look like stopping. Not much will go past him. Phillip Lahm - One of the best full-backs who's both extremely solid at defence and who can almost destroy his opponents in the attack. Deadly. Yaya Toure - an experienced midfield anchorman will work and work at the defence, but will also be able to contribute to attack if needed. Young stars: Stock and Sahin. The Weak Link: Not much will go through this defence and any side will have problems when trying to do that as both the defenders and defencive midfielders will give hell to the opposition. However, up front, while the midfield and the attack is decent, they just don't ooze the class to break down the top defences and might find goals hard to come by. Best Line-up Formation - 4-5-1 Frey Castro - van Buyten - Puyol - Lahm Rolfes - Yaya Toure Cazorla - Sahin - Bastos Gomez Comparison Doctor Phil Sure, he's a doctor and, of course, he can speak, but almost any word that comes out of his mouth doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Dr. Phil, just like Phil GT, might be popular with the masses, but any true expert of the field will say that he doesn't have any ideas what the hell he's doing. Tom's Prediction Through-out the whole competition, Phil's team probably has the best defence. I can't imagine any side having an easy time with them, but the attack might prove to be the fatal flaw (as long as you take care and close down the left flank and don't let Bastos and Lahm cut inside). Verdict - top 8 or possibly even top 4 material.
