  1. Re: English Championship 7046 Match Report/Tranfer Gossip Thread Wigan Athletic News... Transfer Latest THE NEW TOP STRIKER AT DW The 26 year old Morrocan Striker is the new soon to be hitman at the DW stadium. He Joined after a fall out with Wigan Boss Nick Justice Alex Pato handed in a transfer request with emidiate effect, many speculated a move back to AC Milan, alogn with North London Rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspurs willing to battle in out for the 21 year old Brazilian Stricker. Justice who was quoted to say, " Pato didnt feel at home here and he needs a change!" well Justice and Wigan allowed Pato to hold talks with a few teams and he came back and said that Arsenal was his ideal destianation, so talks started with Arsenal, and with Wigan VERY desperate for some sort of depth a deal was very quickly arranged a deal which suited both parties, amny have critisced The Wigan boss for selling possibly one of the next best things since sliced bread. However despite his amazing talent, Wigan boss Nick Justice also quoted in syaing, " we cant hold him hostage at the DW!" In the deal also saw Young Spanish Midfielder Jurado join the club also. GERMAN KEEPER, WANTED OUT FROM THE OFF! Reports in Manuel Neuer home country of Germany and close firends and realtives, had been that the German stopper said in an interview that he made a massive wrong turn when joining up with a Latics earlier this Season. The German Number 1 who signed a deal also with Arsenal, which saw Goalkeeper Samir Handanovic and Rúben Micael, join the club delighted many fans after they stated Neuer didnt belong at Wigan he needed to move somewhere else in England as he doesnt seem to want to play for us. And so the two new faces also adding to the depth of the squad which was much needed. Samir Handanovic a ver thought after Goalkeeper in his serie A days aswell as his Gunners Days will soon become a instant fans faveiroute believes Justice. and Micael is a stunning winger who will fit nicely into our side. Javi Martinez and Souleymane Diawarra Sign On DUO SIGN IN FROM BILBAO AND MARSELLIE!! With Wigan needing to add to their squad and make some changes to help improve current 11th placing in the English Premier League, well they looked to young Midfielder Javi Martinez and Experianced defender Souleymane Diawarra, to help them try and improve. These Deals saw Charles N'zogbia aswell as a total just of £15Million, leave the club, the funds were raised by Exits from Zapater, Kacar and the £1M used in the Alex Pato Trade to Arsenal. Wigan Stil lhave some money left which is going to to be spend on players mentioned later on. Wigan Managed to sign these two in time for Saturdays clash with Liverpool which is set to be a sell out game, as fans look to see there new players for the first time in Wigan colours. Both have said to have settled in well to the surroundings. Ádám Szalai and Mauricio Pinilla Set for Latics In form Duo Ádám Szalai and Mauricio Pinalla are set to join Wigan for a combined fee of £7.3M from 1.FSV Mainz 05 and Palermo respectivly. The Duo who have been on from is the German Bundesliga and Italian serie A, are set to join to add more depth up top for Wigan what with a few injures and an already small squad depth is vital to compete with most teams and so adding two more players and more to the ranks cannot do anything but add more morale to the club in general and also help with the cup games to cover for thos eplaying week in week out int the league.

  2. Who are you? - The forumers interviews Have you ever come accross someone on the forum and thought, hmmm...they talk a lot of sense, wonder what they're like in real life? Perhaps you'd like an insight into how the minds of some of the forumers here work? Or maybe you're just curious in general. Well this thread might well answer some of your questions and let you get to know some forumers who you barely come accross better (or even those you interact with regularly). The idea is a re-vamp of a previous thread created by Kevin (the original thread: http://forum.soccermanager.com/showthread.php?t=48145) which drew initial interest, but gradually fizzled out. I'm sure he won't mind me re-igniting the idea and I hope to keep it going for a very long time, subject to interest. Forumers, will be asked a series of questions based around who they support, SM, hobbies and past-times, their wishes and ambitions and some questions specific to the specific forumer. I'm hoping this will interest many and we can share a little bit about ourselves with us, hence encouraging a greater sense of community. So without further delay, I'm pleased to announce the first interviewee will be none other than one of our German football specialists......timesle. Oumar Pouye

Oumar Pouye Name: Oumar Pouye Nationality: Senegalese Age: 22 Club: FC Metz (on loan at Évian TG this season though) Position: Midfielder Pouye came to Metz in 2006. In his first year at Metz he was mostly played in the reserv team of Metz. Under the catastrophic season Metz had during the 07/08 season, which also saw a relegation for them, Pouye got some chances and got to feel the heat on the highest level. As I mentioned above though, Metz got relegated and in order for Pouye to keep developing (Metz made it clear to him that he wouldn't be a starter for them as they were looking for direct promotion and therefore they would put their faith on the more ''experienced players''), he was sent out on loan to National League (Div 3) side, Évian TG. However, it's got to be said that Yvon Pouliquen (the then coach for Metz) trusted in Pouye's talent and therefore instead of selling him, he was sent out on loan by Metz. At Évian Pouye took a starting spot directly after his arrival, and enjoyed a very succesful loan-spell at Évian. In the summer of '09, he was expected to seriously push for a starting place at Metz after his succesful spell at Évian TG. However, as Pouliquen now wasn't the Metz coach, Pouye got the message that he wasn't needed at Metz. So, Pouye was sent back to Évian for another season on loan. As during the season before, Pouye took a starting place immidiately and was a key-player in the squad who earned promotion to Ligue 2. In the summer of 2010, Pouye was sent out on another season long loan to Évian, meaning that he has now spent three seasons on loan there. So far, he has been starting every game for Évian in their first ever season in Ligue 2, and Pouye has played an important part so far, as Évian supringsly is standing as the 2nd placed team in the league with 13 points. What can we say about Pouye's playing-style then? First of all, he certainly has the speed, he also has a good vision for the game and he enjoys a good technique. I also got to say that his one-on-one play is of a very high standard. These tools are certainly useful for a winger of Pouye's calibre.

Re: Official Gold Championships Discussions Thread It's a sign of the times when you can pick up a poor Real Betis with a healthy bank balance and in the space of 1 week put together a squad like the one below PURELY FOR CASH FROM UNMANAGED TEAMS! 5X90's (Pazzini, Pantelic, Kranjcar, Cetin and Cata Diaz) plus the likes of De Gea and Bradley. Anyway, loving the squad I've assembled and Betis are now set to begin domination in Spain in GC62.

Re: English Championship 7046 Match Report/Tranfer Gossip Thread Toon Splash The Cash on Italian Flair Up Top Rossi returns to Tyneside It's been a few years now but back in his Manchester United days Giuseppe Rossi was loaned out to Newcastle for a short spell where he made 13 appearances with just a single goal to show for it, but now the diminutive Italian has swapped the beautiful climate of Spain for the rough North of England in a deal reported to be worth around £17m. Gilardino completes the lethal partnership Joining the young Rossi up front will be seasoned Italian international and goal-scoring machine of Serie A, Alberto Gilardino. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experiance that will be crucial in keeping the good ship Toon afloat at the top of the league. Of course the manager has made other additions to the team with notable names being Rene Adler from Bayer Leverkusen, David Jarolim of Hamburger and another Italian frontman in Sergio Flocarri of Lazio. 13. Re: English Championship 5905 Season 2 - Discussion & Reporting Sorry for lack of activity boys, been working away this week. Liverpool boss Newton sat down for his Friday press conference after spending a working week away. BBC: You've been quiet this week, but 2 wins in the league and 3 points clear at the top, puts you in a great position. Newton Not really, we're only top by 3 points, should we lose and United win their goal difference is already better than ours. Teams are always up for playing us, more than ever and it's proving difficult for us to thrash teams, but we have to get better in front of goal, as it's a scenario I can't cope with, it's already giving me nightmares thinking of losing the title to United on goal difference. 442: Negredo has hit 20 league goals already this season now, a great feat, do you think he can go on and score more than 30. Newton: H has the ability, yes, his fitness is key and we have to protect him, he is obviously our main man at the moment and it's important we keep him in good shape so he can continue to score goals. He is that important to us while Torres is out. ESPN: The Birmingham games have been classics over the past two season. Twice you've won 4-3 and they have also beaten you. Newton: At this stage of the season I don't think my heart could take another 4-3. Like I said we need to start scoring more goals, but if we're going to do that, winning by one goal still isn't good enough. Times: Pique got injured in the last game, a big loss for you at centre back, is it as bad as first feared? Newton: Thankfully no, we expect to have him back in training this time next week, not sure he will be match fit for next Saturday, but it's only 3 league games he'll miss tops. Guardian: We don't know much about the new Birmingham boss, what do you expect. Newton: I'm not sure, and that worries me, it's never good to play a team when a new manager has took over, as players are always out to impress.

  14. Re: English Championship 106 - Transfer/Gossip thread Arsenal v Preston NE Match Preview Preston North End travel to the Emirates ahead of their first game back in the top flight since Season Seven. Preston face a number of challenges in the first few games of the new season, starting with a trip to Arsenal, widely regarded to be champions come 2nd March. This is followed by Preston's first home game of the season, against fellow promoted side Tranmere Rovers, plus an English Cup First Round tie against Division 1 side Charlton. Arsenal have a fully fit squad to choose from, with Andy Howat set to begin his first full season in charge of Arsenal. Howat may give a start to former Preston defender Gareth Bale, who was sold twice by Preston before finding his way to London. Fellow ex-Prestonian Esteban Granero may have to settle for a place on the bench, with Aaron Ramsey and Leroy Fer (again, ex-Preston) out on loan. The Gunners possess much strength in attack and defence, with David Villa, Kaka, Nemanja Vidic, Maicon and Petr Cech the highlights of a talented side. Winger Pablo Hernandez was shunned by Preston and Spain coach James Burrow ahead of Spain's awful World Cup campaign, and will hope for vengenace tomorrow night. Preston boss James Burrow is keen to start the season as he means to go on, and will hope to avoid defeat against one of many tough opponents this season. Tom Huddlestone is named in the squad of 16, after spending the majority of last season on loan at Shorpe. Gareth Barry returns from injury and will start having come through pre-season without any trouble. Michael Owen will hope to play some part against his former employers, for which he scored 19 goals in 43 games. John Mensah will make his debut should he play any part in the game, the Ghanaian chosen ahead of Daniele Gastaldello and Matthew Upson.

  18. Re: Official Red Devils thread I get sick of this "glory hunter" term. People watch the football team that they enjoy watching the most, and invariably, that's a successful team. It's far easier to watch Chelsea win comfortably on Sky each weekend with their breathtaking football, rather than travelling to Leyton Orient for some poor quality, uninspiring hoof-ball. It's even harder for kids to appreciate the values of watching a local club when they are so young and naive, not knowing the benefits they might get from sticking by such a club in the future. Once you start following a team, it's hard not to stop following them, and that'll be the case for millions of children around the world, whether they be watching Manchester United, Real Madrid of Inter Milan. There is only one true type of glory supporter, and that is one who switches allegiance at their own free will to whoever is doing well at that particular time. And you don't get many (maybe even any) of those types of supporters.

  20. Re: Official Red Devils thread Fair enough, if you're sticking to what you said. I don't have a problem with that. I used phrases in my post such as "I wonder how many...", "Maybe...", etc. Of course it's not the same for every supporter, but I know for sure the majority of Utd fans will be happy to see him back in the first team this weekend even after how he's treated your club. Will he get booed? Maybe the odd hardcore season ticket holder will, but the majority of fans will just be happy to see him playing. Most clubs wouldn't tolerate behaviour like Man Utd have seen from Rooney. Showing that much disrespect for the club and then deciding to sign a new big money contract... If a Liverpool player wants to leave I'm happy to see them go. Take Reira as an example. After what he said about Rafa and the club he didn't play AT ALL. Even when Rafa left the fans made it clear he was unwanted and ensured he left. As for crying about being in the relegation zone... certainly not. We're now DEBT FREE, have new owners, investment and a new manager is going to be unveiled in the next couple of weeks. It'd looking up for Liverpool fans, and even through the hard times the fans stick together and stay strong. How many Liverpool fans have you known that have changed club they're allegiance this season? I certainly don't know any.

  21. Re: English Championship 5579 -Match Report/Transfer Gossip Thread THE HIGGY PIGGY CHAMPIONSHIP THE PLAYOFFS - SEMI FINALS NIGHT Its a memorable night in store for us tonight as no less than 6 more sides will have their season's ending in a far amount of dissapointment tonight. They'll be axed from our end of season promotion playoffs, leaving another 6 in with a glorious chance of the feeling of success on a big evening on Sunday. Who'll prevail at the first challenge of the playoffs? The Semi Finals. Here we go... zxtn6-XQupM THE HIGGY PIGGY CHAMPIONSHIP Sheffield United vs Blackpool - LIVE ON SKY SPORTS 2 & HD 2 - LIVE COVERAGE FROM 7:30 PM GT Finished Positions = 3rd vs 6th So they were chasing down Preston for most of the season, and at times even had their noses in front, but in the end - the playoffs was always meant to be for the Blades, and Brain Sandalls. Whats worse? A rather poor 3-3 draw with Doncaster on the final game of the season - Wednesday night - has left them really doubting themselves now. Tonight, their reward for finishing 3rd in the league is a home semi - final tie to playoff outsiders Blackpool. Last season, the Tangerines were fighting relegation to League One under Mark Farine. He carried ship for a small duration of this season, and even ahd them flying high in the top 2, but since then he moved on - Biscuit came in, and has earnt them a very good playoff spot - a good over achievement I'd of thought maybe. Today we caught up with Blades boss Brain Sandalls: Q: Well 2nd was never to be, but now its all about winning the playoffs right? Q: Is your team mentally strong enough to get over missing out on automatic promotion? Q: Blackpool visit Bramall Lane tonight. After your rather erratic 3-3 draw with Doncaster on the final day of the season, and only 2 days have gone since then, is there a hint of panic stations all of a sudden here? Q: How confident are you of overcoming your Seaside opposition tonight? We all know what they did in real life after all when they came 6th in the league! Q: Do you think a win tonight is the confidence booster you need to win these playoffs come Sunday evening? Q: You have also seen your side knocked off bookies favirotes, despite finishing 3rd in the league. Does this sort of concern you? Q: Finally, anythin to say to your opposition tonight in Biscuit and Blackpool? Good words from Brian, who dare I say sounds a lot more nervous than he did when we heard from him not long ago. Can you blame him? They were a side destined for the top league mid way through this season, and now it really is on a knifes edge! They really need to win tonight, and they need a certain Roque to fire! Prediction: 1-1 - (Sheffield United to win on penalties) Derby County vs Hull City - LIVE ON SKY SPORTS 3 & HD 3 - LIVE COVERAGE FROM 7:30 PM GT Finished Positions = 4th vs 5th Two sides with a real spring in their step tonight! Nobody more in partical than the visitors in Hull City! They are rocking this league right now, and on blistering form. That alone could easily win them the playoffs. Tonight is the acid test for both sides though. All those things about 'Hull are the Form Side now' counts for nothing tonight. They have a daunting away trip to Pride Park and Derby County, who are searching for a very impressive back - to - back promotion. From League One, to Premier League. It would show it can be done wouldnt it! Today we have heard from new Hull manager Ian Eltringham: Q: Well its been a rollercoaster of a season so far for Hull. From clear pre season title favirotes, to struggling with relegation and losing their manager Sam Wainwright. They then got Chewett who began a mini revival, then he left - everyone thought the season was over. Now your here, and your team are just on fire and have made the playoffs! As far as your concerned, you must be delighted though? Q: Its always proved it would be tough to make the top 6 this season, like you did. How important do you think being the no.1 form side in the league is? Q: How highly do you rate your squad of players you currently have? Q: Finally, You have been set as the Bookies Favirotes to win the playoffs at this early stage. Unlike when you was pre season title favirotes, can you match expectation with reality? And there my point is proved. This team is oozing confidence all of a sudden. With all the uncertainty theyve had this season, theyve now never looked more certain. Ever perhaps. If they go up, I wouldnt be too fast to bank on them coming straight back down again. This team have pedigree - and under firm footing like Ian, theyve got a lot. However - Derby stand in their way tonight, and with them being the home side, could we see the Rams reall cause a stir tonight and book their ticket to Wembley insted for Sunday?! Prediction: 1-2 - Tiger time at Wembley on Sunday!

Craig reply:"I can confirm that MARCO MATERAZZI will join INTERNAZIONALE for £7.2m, He was not for sale and not on the transfer list, however, it was a fee that I couldn't refuse as he joined Millwall for £950k + players. 38. Re: Gold Championship 88 | Match Reports | Transfers United sign Bale! Manchester United have made their first signing of the summer in Tottenham winger Gareth Bale. Bale who impressed Golden last season has joined for Da Silva twins, Rafael and Fabio. United have been linked to other stars such as Eto'o, Lennon and Modric in recent weeks but Bale has become the first to join this summer. Golden had this to say, "Im thrilled to have signed such a good young prospect in Gareth Bale. I am sad to see Rafael and Fabio leave and wish them well in their careers. Bale will be a perfect replacement for Ryan (Giggs) when he steps down and will be used throughout next season."

  40. Need a RB but don't know which one to get, they all have the same ratings. Should I get Ramos because he's the youngest?
