    Re: English Championship 5579 - Discussion Thread All this talk of who is and who isn’t do well in The Championship, got me thinking – and thats a dangerous thing! I have come up with a guide – its rough and no doubt misleading – to help define which side are doing well versus expectations and who isn’t. I have used the only two factors readily open to me – ground size and squad value – to determine a ranking order for all 20 sides. The highest attendance is awarded 20pts on a sliding scale down to 1pt for the lowest. The same sliding scale points system is then awarded versus the highest squad value. The points are then totaled and provide a guide as to the team’s divisional ranking. This ranking is then analysed against the team’s current league position to determine how that team is performing versus the expectation. Now loans complicate things regarding values but I have for the purposes of my own sanity chosen to ignore them – this took me long enough as is. It’s by no means definitive and will do doubt upset as many as it pleases but, hey ho, here’s the results:- Hull Squad Value Ranking (£183m) – 5 – 16pts Attendance Ranking (25,404) – 10 = 11pts Total = 27pts Div 2 Club Ranking = 6 Actual League Position = 1 (+5) Villa Squad Value Ranking (£242 m) – 1 = 20pts Attendance Ranking (42,640) - 1 = 20pts Total = 40pts Div 2 Club Ranking = 1 Actual League Position = 2 (-1) Reading Squad Value Ranking (£178m) – 6 – 15pts Attendance Ranking (24,224) – 13 = 8pts Total = 23pts Div 2 Club Ranking = 7 Actual League Position = 3 (+4) Coventry Squad Value Ranking (£163m) – 9 = 12pts Attendance Ranking (32,609) – 4 = 17pts Total = 29pts Div 2 Club Ranking = 4 Actual League position = 4 Palace Squad Value Ranking (£147m) – 11 = 10pts Attendance Ranking (26,309) – 9 = 12pts Total = 22pts Div 2 Club Ranking = Joint 9 Actual League Position = 5 (+4) Wolves Squad Value Ranking (£189m) – 4 = 17pts Attendance Ranking (28,525) – 7 = 14pts Total = 31pts Div 2 Club Ranking = 3 Actual League Position = 6 (-3) Swansea Squad Value Ranking (£159m) – 10 = 11pts Attendance Ranking (20,532) – 16 = 5pts Total = 16pts Div 2 Club Ranking = 14 Actual League Ranking - 7 (+7) Mboro Squad Value Ranking (£128m) – 17 = 4pts Attendance Ranking (35,100) – 2 = 19pts Total = 23pts Div 2 Club Ranking = 8 Actual League Position = 8 Pboro Squad Value Ranking (£119m) – 19 = 2pts Attendance Ranking (15,460) – 20 = 1pt Total = 3pts Div 2 Club Ranking = 20 Actual League Position = 9 (+11) Cardiff Squad Value Ranking (£135.5m) – 16 = 5pts Attendance Ranking (27,000) – 8 = 13pts Total = 18pts Div 2 Club Ranking = 13 Actual League Position = 10 (+3) S’Bury Squad Value Ranking (£169m) – 8 = 13pts Attendance Ranking (11,763) – 19 = 2pts Total = 15pts Div 2 Club Ranking = Joint 15 Actual League Position = 11 (+4) Millwall Squad Value Ranking (£210m) – 3 = 18pts Attendance Ranking (20,146) – 17 = 4pts Total = 22pts Div 2 Club Ranking = Joint 9 Actual League Position = 12 (-3) QPR Squad Value Ranking (£123m) – 18 = 3pts Attendance Ranking (24.914) – 11 = 10pts Total = 13pts Div 2 Club Ranking = 17 Actual League Position = 13 (+4) Sheff U Squad Value Ranking (£135.9m) – 15 = 6pts Attendance Ranking (32,609) – 5 = 16pts Total = 22pts Div 2 Club Ranking = Joint 9 Actual League Position = 14 (-5) Watford Squad Value Ranking (£216m) – 2 = 19pts Attendance Ranking (24,765) – 12 = 9pts Total = 28pts Div 2 Club Ranking = 5 Actual League Position = 15 (-10) Brighton Squad Value Ranking (£142m) – 13 = 8pts Attendance Ranking (11,795) – 18 = 3pts Total = 11pts Div 2 Club Ranking = 18 Actual League Position = 16 (+2) Barnsley Squad Value Ranking (£104m) – 20 = 1pt Attendance Ranking (23,009) – 14 = 7pts Total = 8pts Div 2 Club Ranking = 19 Actual League Position = 17 (+2) Derby Squad Value Ranking (£174m) – 7 = 14pts Attendance Ranking (33,597) – 3 = 18pts Total = 32pts Div 2 Club Ranking = 2 Actual League Position = 18 (-16) Ipswich Squad Value Ranking (£140m) – 14 = 7pts Attendance Ranking (30,311) – 6 = 15pts Total = 22pts Div 2 Club Ranking = Joint 9 Actual League Position = 19 (-10) Bristol Squad Value Ranking (£142.6m) – 12 = 9pts Attendance Ranking (21,497) – 15 = 6pts Total = 15pts Div 2 Club Ranking = Joint 15 Actual League Position = 20 (-5) So the results show that, based on ranking, the table should look something like this:- Villa Derby Wolves Coventry Watford Hull Reading M'Boro Sheff U Ipswich Palace Millwall Cardiff Swansea Bristol S'Bury QPR Brighton Barnsley P'Boro But in terms of over and under achievement versus rankings here’s who is performing best and worst:- P'Boro +11 Swansea +7 Hull +5 S'Bury +4 QPR +4 Palace +4 Reading +4 Cardiff +3 Brighton +2 Barnsley +2 M'Boro 0 Coventry 0 Villa -1 Wolves -3 Millwall -3 Bristol -5 Sheff U -5 Ipswich -10 Watford -10 Derby -16 No all of this makes no allowance for when a manager took over a club, how the squad has been put together, deals pending etc etc and many positions will change over the next 7 games to season end but none the less it makes interesting reading.

Re: Official Gold Championships Discussions Thread Hi Guys, Firstly I am sorry to hear that some of you think the Support service is not up to the high standards we aim for at SM. However I would have to disagree, and firmly believe we provide a very good customer service to all our customers. All tickets are responded to within 48 hours, all major bugs dealt with immediately, all other problems quickly and we continue to improve the game based on suggestions sent to us and posts put in the forum. Although SM has grown in size we still read and interact regularly on the forum. The main issues seem to be the 'automated' responses and dealing with 'cheats'. Firstly the 'automated' responses issue. Every ticket sent to us is read and reviewed by a human from the support team, we have no auto respond system in place. The 'automated' response is a standard response which we have put in place for a number of reasons to ensure consistency and accuracy as well as to ensure non-english speaking people receive a translated response as we now have many thousands of non-english speaking people playing the game. As I have already said EVERY ticket sent to us is read by a HUMAN. The second main issue is 'cheats'. Every reported 'cheat' ticket we receive is again reviewed by a human. The deal obviously has already run through the ATMS but is then extra reviewed by a human. The problem is that based on the information a decision has to be made whether there is enough proof that there is cheating and then what 'punishment' to impose. Now very often it is quite obvious, other times it is not. However either way a decision needs to be made, and we need to get it right. As I have said a HUMAN makes this decision based on the information in front of them. Sometimes we agree with the report other times not, but there is no hidden agenda from our side. We do not tolerate cheats and spend huge amounts of our resources trying to improve the ATMS and employ people to deal with the cheats. We do not want any cheats on the game. However once a decision has been made, and we do it with the best of intentions based on the information in front of us, some people don't agree with the decision we make. The complaint then seems to be of the 'standard' response saying we have found no cheating. Unfortunately the 'standard' response is the only one can give, as we don't want to (and in some cases for data protection reasons, cannot) give out information about our decision. However as I have said above, every decision we make is made by a human and made in good faith with no hidden agenda. The final issue which has caused some issues is the changing of the code of conduct, specifically not dealing with people who have not followed through on 'multi-part' deals via PM. We have had to do this for legal reasons as we now have no way (correctly so) of verifying what was said in PMs unless someone reports them for offensive reasons. Therefore with now not being able to verify what was said in deals it becomes impossible for us to 'police' this area and people will have to do 'multi-part' deals with either people they trust or take a risk.

Risers destined for 90+ in 2011

A few years ago I was subscribed to a fantastic thread which kept a running count of those players who were likely to hit a 90 within the year, with the reasoning and suchlike. It was remarkably nearly 100% correct, and absolutely brilliant for my team-building. Obviously it's possible to find these with a bit of research, but I haven't had a forum project for a while now so though I might as well compile a list together. To reiterate, this is simply designed to state the players likely to get to 90 or above within the calender year 2011. Not the next rating change, nor the May end of the season in European leagues. Ideally it will circumvent some of the posts which ask for a GK/DM/AM/Fwd who will get there. It's a running project so bear with me - I'll do it gradually and efficiently - so don't expect a miracle tonight. GKCB (including Def) RB LB CM (including Mid) DM AM Wing (including RM/LM) Forwards -

Re: English Championship 5579 -Match Report/Transfer Gossip Thread Portsmouth Win The English Shield The Portsmouth players celebrate after winning the Shield Last night, in front of a Wembley crowd of over 85,000, Portsmouth won their first ever silverware in EC5579 after a 2-0 win over Peterborough United in the final of the English Shield. Pompey went into the game as the bookies favourites with them fielding their strongest 11 while Peterborough decided to rest their big guns ahead of some important league games. However, in general, the game was a very tight affair with nothing really seperating the sides in terms of possession, shots and shots on target. The defining moments of the game came in the form of Fabio Quagliarella and Walter Samuel. The first goal of the game came from the Italian with half time approaching. The 27 year recieved the ball on the edge of the box before curling the ball inside the far post to send the Pompey fans into scenes of jubilation. The game was put to bed just 5 minutes into the second half when the ball came crashing off the bar and landed at the feet of Samuel who easily tapped home from a few yards out. Despite the result, both teams can be very proud of their performance on the night and in having reached a final in itself. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pompey Agree 3 Part Deal With Hull City Johnson is a Portsmouth player no more Mere hours before their Shield Final, Portsmouth FC announced they had come to an agreement with Hull City for a 3 part transfer deal. The first part of the deal sees Glen Johnson head to the KC Stadium in exchange for Ranieri Sandro and Konstantin Rausch. The next part will see Silveira Juan move to Hull for Andreas Beck plus £2 million pounds. The deal will conclude with Portsmouth recieving another £2 million pounds plus Jan Vertonghen for Felipe Melo. The deal will delight both managers with Hull getting 3 top class players while Pompey will recieve 4 younger players on lower wages.

Re: English Championship 5579 -Match Report/Transfer Gossip Thread Ibrahimovic Can Go! Today, Tottenham are releasing the statement that Zlatan Ibrahimovic can go. Ibrahimovic was brought last season and was one of the biggest transfer news in Tottenhams History. He is a quality striker, but this season Eto'o' has outclassed him and manager Tom thinks that he can bulk up his squad if he lets him go. Tom said "We are very sad to say this but Ibrahimovic may be leaving the clib. When we brought him we were over the moon, and we still are, but if we can get two quality players for him plus cash them im sure it can improve the club. I'd be looking for a quality, youngish striker who is recognisable over the world. I'd also be looking at a backup defender whether its a CB or RB. The defender must also be a world class player. Then, i bit of cash to spend on an other player to bulk up the quad even more." It was announced that earlier this week he was going to be involded with a swap with Micheal Essien, but Tom stopped that deal saying "Essien is a quality player, but we nned a defender and a replacement forward if we are going to let him go. We can improve the midfield when the time comes, but for now i think its time to boost up the defence and the attack. We already have an alright midfield, so that can be the least of our worries."

Re: English Championship 5579 - Discussion Thread Your squad is really lacking in numbers, as was mine a while back. I've found that back in season one when I won the title most of my players were rated 89+ and my squad was lot larger, since i've started signing big players and my numbers have reduced my postion in the table has been dropping over the seasons. I think it's best to try and mix bulk and brilliance together;) As for your squad if I wa at the helm I would try flogging Ibrahimovic (because he isn't in as good form as Eto'o) for a replacement striker and a defender rated around 90/91 and maybe some cash.

It is thought a sum of around 3m was also included in the deal with that sum likely to rise to 5m. Bail said ''It's sad to see Sahin leave as he has done great things for this club and was part of the Premier League winning squad in 2010. Although I am also pleased to see Rami join, he has great power and agaility which will see him play well alongside Pique next season'' Rami is likely to make his debut in a massive fixture on Wednesday which see's Liverpool take on Everton in the Merseyside derby. This transfer is thought to be the first of a squad revamp which will hopefully see Liverpool return to former glory next season and aim for the title.

Re: jack wilshere for javier pastore???? help! I would look at it this way 1.Wilshere plays for the better team 2. Capello seems to like him and he is going to get games for a very good NT 3.Wilsheres profile in England is only getting bigger at the moment 4.There are many players on SM like Pastore who 'could' be the next big thing who are constantly linked with moves i.e Sanchez or Lukaku but the thing is they may never get that move or they might do in two years it depends what you want, 5. Wilshere has got a prestigious club already he has the chance to fulfill his potential now, he's at the big club, theres no ifs and buts about anything except whether he is good enough whereas with Pastore he might be an amazing player but in order to improve he may have to move. Im not saying Pastore cannot improve where he is at but it may restrict his improvement, look at the Dortmund players that are coming through Sahin, Schmelzer, Kagawa, Gotze, Hummels they are all currently great prospects nut who is to say any of them will ever be 92+ it's all just guess work and they are all gonna stand a better chance of improving their ratings away from that club, it's just the way it is on this game. in my opinion.

jack wilshere for javier pastore???? help!

Re: jack wilshere for javier pastore???? help! I watch them both play constantly and have to say that even though Wilshere oozes class and visual maturity at such a young age, Pastore is a player out of this world. Pastore IMO will be sold despite having a price tag of 100 million euros (Zamparini is a very eccentric person as many of you may know) to a bigger club in the short/mid future. When/If Pastore were to gain a little more maturity and consistency we would be talking about a 95+ player hands down. Overall it's a difficult decision seeing that Wilshere might make a 'Pedro-Busquets' and start rising of the charts because of Arsenal's status. On the other hand Pastore may rise to Palermo's highest rating of 91 and stay there if he isn't sold or Palermo don't make a leap in class and cement themselves in Serie A's elite. Personally, I'd take my chances with Pastore.

Ribery has a big chance of dropping to 94 but I expect his to keep a 94 if he drops to that. He isnt stable with his current rating. He doesnt deserve it, but I have a feeling he might stay. Go for Robben, robben has proved he is worthy of his rating even if he is crocked, but Ribery is yet to prove he is worthy of his high rating.

Re: English Championship 7046 Match Report/Tranfer Gossip Thread ENGLISH SHIELD IPSWICH 0 MILLWALL 4 MILLWALL had an amazing 4-0 away win at DIV-1 side IPSWICH. This result was a surprise as MILLWALL rested FIVE of their biggest players. NAVAS, VIEIRA, FARIAS, HESKEY, TORRES - DIDN'T feature in the match which makes it an even bigger shock. Gibbs finished neatly inside the box after 22 minutes which gave the DIV-3 side a shock 1-0 lead. Millwall had most of the possession 47%/53% but it ended 1-0 at the break. After the interval, Millwall pressed from the off and 19 yr old MATT GODDEN hit a powerful drive in off the post to make it 2-0 on 47 minutes. Ipswich's night got worse after 71 mins when KYRGIAKOS was red carded. Millwall's response was instant and 60 seconds later ROSSI scored with a powerful shot from the free-kick to put the away team 3-0 up pn 72 mins. On 80 minutes some excellent passing leaves JELAVIC in the clear and he finished with ease. A great finish to a shock result which earned JELAVIC the MAN OF THE MATCH award.

    Di Maria or Gourcuff?

Re: Di Maria or Gourcuff? Gourcuff plays through the centre whilst DiMaria is a winger, it just depends on what you need for your team. Its unfair to compare the players really, they play in different positions.

    Select the Champion?

Re: Select the Champion? I've had that problem, I beat teams by 4 or 5 goals at the start of the season, then lose to then 1 nil and 2 1 with the same players, while my team may have got better, and is roughly 5+ rating points better the opposition :L

    More Sub Options In-Game

Re: More Sub Options In Game. I think it would be a good idea to have options like substitute for worst performing Defender/Mid/Fwd,for example Ive got Ozil, Nasri, and Di Maria playing, if I'm loosing at 60 minutes and I want to make a substitution I can have an option to put Hazard in for the Midfielder that's performing the worst. Not sure if this has been mentioned, thoughts?
