  1. Re: English Championship 7345 - Match/Transfer Report Thread Rossi "The first aim is to get 40 points" Coventry City have been on fine form in recent weeks and the hard work and commitment of boss Aaron Duffy has started to come together with the team in there highest position for along time. the Coventry times has had the great pleasure of following the team around the country in there first season back In Division two after promotion via the play offs last season. After a poor start to with loses to reading , swansea and leicester it was looking like a tough season for the sky blues but with the form improving in recent weeks with the two stand out victories being in the recent week against doncaster and stoke were the sky clues recorded equally impressive 5-0 and 7-0 wins which have given Coventry fans the confidence to start dreaming about the promised land of the premiership. Duffy seems to have his troops gelling well after wholesale in between seasons with players such as Park , Jansen and Nene and a number of other players being added to the squad before the start of this season although the teams recent good fortune has been helped none the less by Last seasons signings Gyan , Rossi and Zabaleta who have all played a huge part in adding structure to the squad. We caught up with Duffy , Rossi and Mameav who is enjoying his second spell at the club. Reporter :I would like to say thanks for letting me have the opportunity to have this interview with you I know your on a busy schedule getting ready for Mondays fixture against Swansea in the Cup , there a team what beat you earlier in the season do you think you can get a result tonight ? Duffy: Its fine as I've always said I think it's always good to let the fans in on what's happening at the club. Well yes Swansea beat us early on in the season but we were a different team back then hardly any of the lads new each other and there wasn't much confidence within hue squad , but now I feel e team has gelled there is alot of humor and smiles in the dressing room If you walked into that room today you'd think they've all known each other for years. I'm not one for predicting results but I'm hoping the team I put out tonight will have enough about them to give us a fighting chance. Reporter:So you think you've got a chance but what kind of team will you be putting out tonight considering the league is so tight this season? Duffy:Dont get me wrong I have great respect for Swansea there club , manager and players but as you said the league is the priority and none of the team that faced Stoke will be in the team for tonight and will be rested for Wednesdays game. In all honesty I feel we can win tonight there's some top players still in the team like park , radu and are hot youngster Julian draxler so there's still quality in there but its always nice to let a few of the youth team play in the cup to experience the atmosphere and enjoy the occasion. Reporter: So Guissepe you manager seems to have great confidence in the current squad how do you feel about the current team? Rossi:I'm very much agreed this is one of the most fun and enjoyable clubs I've ever been at , it took everyone a while to gel but it's been a good experience for everyone. I'm very happy with the way things are going it's great as were quite A small squad so it makes relationships between the players stronger and training with the youth team has massive effects when a new player jumps up into the first team and there at home straight away. Reporter:You seem very happy with how things are going , but the nagging question on alot of Coventry fans minds is where do you prefer to play? Up top or in behind the forward like you currently are? Rossi:It was tough when I first came as I was expected to be a great goalscorer and be the player hitting the goals in and not being the one doing the assists , after a while Aaron approached me and asked me if I was enjoying playing where I was I awnsered honestly and said no as I was finding the defenders in England alot harder to play against than in Spain but it's the best decision I've ever made Aaron changed the formation to play me just behind the striker which is normally Asamoah and it's been working perfectly. Reporter: It seems to have worked out the fans are loving the way you and Gyan are playing together at the moment has the captaincy had any effect on the way you have been playing? Rossi: Erm.. It was a great honor to be handed the captaincy and yes it has made me more vocal on the pitch and have mpre confidence but I'm committed to the club 110% regardless of who has the captaincy. People can talk about the arm band and the promised land of the premiership But the first aim is to get to 40 points. Reporter: now finally mr Mameav you make your second return to the club after being sold mid season one what made you want to return so quickly? Mameav: I dunno really when I joined coventry for the first time it was a new era at the club Aaron had just taken over and I was encouraged to improve my game alot here and learnt alot I'm still a young lad , when I left it was a big mistake I wanted to be playing in Europe but once I arrived at barcelona it was blatant there was no real personal care for me as a player it was more about shirt sales and winning games than a team spirt so I rang up Stor (ex Coventry keeper) and he re assured me if I got in contact with Duffy then I would get some good advice and I sure did Duffy asked me if I'd like a return and I couldn't refuse he contacted Barcelona and offered the Spanish team a few players which had replaced me it was a great feeling to be returned back to the ricoh arena I want to play here long into my future. Reporter: thanks for your time lads best of luck with tonights fixture.

  6. Re: Bundesliga Ratings 2010/2011 (III) I disagree. Not necessarily with the comparison to Tasci, but with the 'SNAP HIM UP IMMEDIATELY' bit. He just isn't the same since returning from his severe injury (multiple burnings after a kart accident), often making easy mistakes, looking slow and not concentrated. It'll be hard for him to get into Leverkusen's team, in his current form he's clearly behind Friedrich, Reinartz and even Schwaab. And I doubt Dutt will rotate as much as Heynckes did. I doubt that he'll rise high and by much.

  18. Re: English Championship 7046 Previews & Predictions Thread League Two End of Season Review and Preview Well it's been another great season down in the bottom division, there's still a lot to play for but one thing that was recently confirmed was the promotion of Brighton after having a tremendous season in which they've currently only lost 3 games and won a massive 24. But apart from that every other position is still mathematically up for grabs with the main focus being the play-off places. Automatic Promotion Well it's already been said that Brighton have clinched the big time and just 5 points behind them lies Exeter who to be fair to them have themselves had a terrific campaign and one that will in the next few games be crowned by joining Brighton as a promoted side in Division three. They do however face a big challenge against 3rd place Dagenham next which will decide a lot. Play-offs This section of the division is certainly the most exciting primarily due to how much uncertainty there is surrounding who will actually win their tickets into the lottery that is the play-offs. 3rd - Dagenham & Redbridge are 10 clear with 3 to play so are already assured of their spot and would like more so to snatch 2nd off Exeter, but that will take an almighty run of form which wouldn't match their current run of one win in 6. 4th - Accrington Stanley like Daggers are pretty much certain of getting a spot being 6 clear of 7th but don't have the goal of auto promotion to aim for so for now finishing in 3rd is their best bet which is possible on current form of both themselves and their prey above. 5th - Well this is where the hunt becomes very interesting, Notts have found some descent for lately which has seen them at least hold onto their golden ticket but teams around them have also been winning so they lie just a single point above failure. 6th - Aldershot, level with Notts like them have won their last two games which has kept the wolf from the door for the time being although they have a monster game next away at Brighton who still have the title to play for, lose this and they could be struggling to get back in. The Ugly Area Well I've Christened it the ugly area and for the poor souls that finish here that is exactly how they’re going to feel ugly and forgotten, fading into the pages of history faster than an X Factor reject. 7th - Wycombe, Wycombe, Wycombe when they finally start winning games the teams above them decide to stop being awful also. They are unbeaten in 6 but the 3 draws in a row could make them pay, although to be fair they are just a point away from glory. 8th - Yeovil the team who Wycombe leap-frogged last game when they lost are now 3 points behind 6th and yes they have 3 to play where winning all of them would put them in a great position to grab that last spot they are definitely underdogs. 9th - Hartlepool are in a different boat altogether to Yeovil in that they are finding good form at exactly the right time winning their last 4 to storm up the table, continue with this run and they can easily get 6th but Stanley next will be a test and a half. 10th - Well what do you say about Chester, really tragic to be honest they were so good mid season but just ONE win in their last 9 games has virtually killed off any chance of coming 6th, 5 adrift with 3 to play looks impossible. The Failures Yes that's right failures; anything other than top ten in the bottom division is pretty poor, no horrific! There's no worry of relegation like other divisions so to finish so low shows such lack of ambition and effort. Yes I'll admit some teams tried but you don't get any medals for trying I'm afraid. The Shame Award Well this is reserved for really high levels of failure, the sort that only very, very bad managers can even dream of achieving. This sort of failure is the kind where you go to a job interview and forget who you are or where you finish doing all your tactics for the next turn before realising you’ve been on the tutorial. Yes this award goes to the one, the only, Tom of Swindon Town; take a bow, a bow of shame.

  29. Re: English Championship 5579 -Match Report/Transfer Gossip Thread Swansea City 1 - 0 Middlesbrough Swansea City: Cisse (66) The Big Picture Cisse's goal turned out to be the winner as Swansea win once again at home Swansea City have managed to beat Middlesbrough to recover after a very dissapointing defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers in mid-week. Swansea were beaten in mid-week with a Nicola Zigic brace, as the player who could well be at Swansea right now if Wolves could have persuaded the Swans to let go of captain Ryan Giggs, but that never looked like happening although it didn't work well on the night as Zigic scored twice which was enough to prevent Swansea from getting anything from the game. Swansea managed to bounce back from that defeat with yet another home win though as they once again come out as the winners at the Liberty Stadium, where they seem to beable to find results unlike away from home when they just can't seem to find the same results with a slightly more defensive formation. In terms of the team selection there was two changes from the side that lost to Wolves, as Mikel Arteta was left off after his red card against Wolves and Moussa Dembele was also left out of the Swansea side. In there place came young James McCarthy making a rare start for the Swans whilst Craig Bellamy came in alongside Djibril Cisse with him still looking for his first Swansea City goal. Early on in the half and Swansea were claiming for a penalty as James McCarthy went down inside the box having beaten his marker, and despite later replay's showing it was surely a penalty to Swansea the referee didn't think so as Swansea were going to have to wait to try and score the opening goal of the game. Swansea looked like the only side who were going to score, and Djibril Cisse came close to finding the net as he delicatly chipped the ball past the goalkeeper only to be denied by the crossbar. Cisse then came close to scoring yet again, as he was played through on goal with the goalkeeper only to be denied by the woodwork once again as his shot hit the outside of the post. James McCarthy impressed in his first league start for Swansea City Having completely dominated the first half, Swansea went into the second half managing to do exactly the same thing. Craig Bellamy had the first chance for Swansea in the second half, as a goal mouth scramble resulted in the ball falling to Bellamy on the edge of the box but to the home fans dissapointment he blasted his shot straight into the arms of the goalkeeper. The goalkeeper, Andrea Consigli, was then brought into action once again, this time having to make a less straight forward save to prevent Swansea from taking the lead. Djibril Cisse flicked the ball onto Stephen Ireland who had a good chance at goal and although his shot was good, Consigli made a good diving save to put the ball out for a corner. It wasn't too long before Swansea managed to eventually make the most of there chances to take the lead though, as Djibril Cisse scored his 3rd goal of the season. A good move for Swansea saw Aleksandr Ryazantsev finding Djibril Cisse on the edge of the box, who managed to thump the ball under Consigli into the net to finally give Swansea the lead they more than deserved. Aleksandr Ryazantsev had the chance to double Swansea's lead at the end of the game to add a bit of glamour to the scoreline, but his shot went dissapointingly wide of the target. Swansea stay around the play-off positions in 8th after winning five of there first nine games of the season, they'll be satisfied with there start of the season but will look to avoid the amount of defeats they've had this season. There winning ability has certainly been on display though, and there winning ability has seen them get a good return of points with them being able to win games at home and that might just come in handy as Swansea face Manchester City at the Liberty Stadium in the 2nd round of the FA Cup in what will be a tough game for the Swans as there opposition are expected to play a full strength side for the game.

  40. Re: European Rating Changes By CLEG_YORKSHIRE I wouldn't say Falcao is such a certain 92' date=' considering Rossi didn't get it this time, but it is possible! Also Jardel seems to be starting for Benifca. This is his SoccerWay link: [url']http://www.soccerway.com/players/jardel-nivaldo-vieira/89839/[/url] I'd say he could get 80 > 84/85 this time around but I'm not great at predicting. Roderick Miranda has picked up a some minutes and IMO has looked good, though maybe a stay or a very small rise. He has Potential though. This was what was said on the Portuguese league discussion thread (not me) "Roderick (19, Benfica) - He will most probably be loaned out next season and he has the chance to finally prove he's a future NT player. Diogo Salomão (22, Sporting) - He's not unknown anymore, but still low rated. I believe that in the near future he'll get a lot more playtime. I don't understand why he isn't playing more regularly right now, I do rate him higher than Djalo... James Rodriguez (19, Porto) - Already rated 86, but he's already way over that in pure talent. Future star imo. Franco Jara (22, Benfica) - By December he was considered one of the worst signings of teh year in Portugal. Now he's playing consistently and scoring important goals, especially in Europa League. I wouldn't be surprised if he'd replace Saviola in the starting 11 sooner rather than later. David Simão (20, Benfica) - Loaned at Paços de Ferreira, he's been one of the most important players this season and already has been granted to spend the summer working with Benfica's first team. Nelso Oliveira (19, Benfica) - Also loaned at Paços de Ferreira, this guy is my personal favorite portuguese youngster. Doesn't play as much has David Simão, but he's already been refered by the NT coach Paulo Bento as the future Fwd for the NT. Caetano (19, Paços de Ferreria) - Another youngster making a name for himself in this team. He doesn't have many appearances but from what I've seen of him, he has potential. Pizzi (21, Paços de Ferreria) - And another one This guy is one of the main frontmen in Paços' attack along with Rondon. Lately he's adding goals to the minutes played. N'Diaye (20, Vitória de Guimarães) - I don't really know what to make of this guy. He's been accumulating appearances as a sarter since January, but the team is underperforming in the same period. Still, he's a young guy to be followed. João Pedro (19, Vitória de Guimarães) - On loan from Palermo. I haven't seen him play yet, but he's getting some minutes as a sub under his belt since he got his loan in the winter market. João Silva (20, União de Leiria) - Last year he got a move from the portuguese 2nd division to Everton, but in this winter market he was loaned to Leiria where he's been trying to find his space. No goals for him yet, but already has appearences for the U-21 NT and he kind of reminds me of Hugo Almeida. Another one to watch. Sergio Oliveira (18, Porto) - On loan at Beira-Mar he almost hasen't played, but he's been refered as one of the most talented portuguese youngsters, even earning a reference in footballwonderkiscout.co.uk. Surely one to keep an eye on. Wilson Eduardo (20, Sporting) - Also on loan at Beira-Mar he's been first choice to substitute in during the matches, granting him many appearances. He's also accumulated a few first 11 spots too." I don't know whether you would like to look at any of the others you haven't mentioned on there. Other wise great job!

  41. Re: Gold Championship 99 Match Reports | Transfers BARCA report After a busy off season which saw some major comings and goings a revamped Barca hope to challenge on all fronts this season.I still have one major deal in the pipeline and hope to confirm the deal very soon.Edit: Samir Nasri has agreed to a move to Barca. Lionel Messi headed for pastures new in Dortmund(Germany) along with Gianluigi Buffon & Andrea Ranocchia good luck to them and Kari for the new season(4). Angel Di Maria departed to Turin to join Rays Juventus and again good luck to both. With De Gea,Hummels,Subotic,Sahin,Pastore,Ganso,Schurrle & Derdiyok all signing on at the Nou Camp the Squad for this season has a fresh youthful look about it and hopefully that will be the case for a few seasons to come. Have a few players surplus to requirements Crouch,Mykhalyk & Babel i could offer 2 or 3 for a decent prospect 88/89 rtd 20/21 and also have some quality youths i can include in deals Canales Alcantara and many others and theres also some loans available. 47. Re: English Championship 7345 - Match/Transfer Report Thread Thompson lambaste shocking display Sheffield United produced their worst performance of the season to date as they were hit with five of the best at the Walkers Stadium going down 5-2 at promotion rivals Leicester City. Two goals inside the first 6 minutes from Matteo Brighi and Sergio Aguero set the Foxes on their way to a comfortable win and they were followed up by a double from midfielder Scherrer Maxwell and another from Aguero whilst the Blades did manage goals from strikers Andy Johnson and Evaeverson Brandao. That result moves Leicester into 2nd in division 2 while Sheffield United drop a couple of places 11th but stil only two points off a playoff place. After the game a clearly angry Steve Thompson fronted up to the press.
