    EC 8000 - Predictions thread

Re: EC 8000 - Predictions thread Burmmie Lads EC:8000 Division 1 Season 1 predictions With the big kick of in EC:8000 just one day away iv decided to join thoes trying to predict the out come. Who will win the leauge ? Who will avoid the drop ? lets take a look at what i think. Key: Yellow = Champions Green = SMFA Cup 4th-2nd Blue = SMFA Shield 5th-10th Red = Relegation Manchester City: Tipped by everyone to be up there fighting for the league, Some say they will finish just about short in 2nd place some reckon they will win the league. I have to agree with thoes saying they will finish top, their squad is something to be jelous about and will be even more some something to beat. Will just pip Arsenal to the title: 1ST Arsenal: They also have either been tipped to be in the running when it comes down to the wire. They had to rebuild but i think they have rebuilt well, They have a experianced manager. Witch i think gives them the edge over other would be contenders. I think Citys power and numbers just just squeez them out: 2ND Tottenham: My surprise wildcard pick, Some have said top 4 others top 10, They like Arsenal have a priceless advantage over United and Chelsea and that again is manager experiance. While their depth is questionable i think they have the quality there so see them into 3rd if not 4th. I dont think they will challenge City to a real extent.I think their battle lies in finishing 3rd/4th: 3RD Chelsea:After all they have the best two players in the world. Their attacking force can not be matched. But depth and manager quality is questionable. 2 maybe 3 knocks and suspensions could hurt them. Their manager is also fairly new to SM, and EC: 8000 i feel is going to be a long, hard battle with other top class managers. My worry for Chelsea is if the going gets though does the manager have the experiance to change things around ? 4TH Manchester United: Some are tipping these for top, i can only just laugh. Yes they have quality but like Chelsea Depth and manager quality come into question. Their first team squad i feel can not cope with what united should be doing thats compeating in the League and both Cup and Shield. Their manager is i assume very very new. I just dont think he has the experiance of playing in a top flight set-up to deal with teams United should easyly beat in any other normal set-up: 5TH Liverpool: If you like they also had some kind of rebuilding job to do. I feel they have brough in the right names to cope with a top 6 finish. Their defence needs to be improved if they are to climb any higher, Which they could due to the United and Chelsea bothing being Vulnerable. 6TH Sunderland: This is were it gets tricky, teams below the top 6 have been building very very well and all have that one or two player/s that would get into any of the above teams. Sunderland fall into that list. They have one of the Division most experianced managers and its shown in transfers. If anyone is looking for a name out of the unexpected Sunderland would be your best bet. 7th Stoke: They like Sunderland have one of the most respected and experianced managers in the Division and Set-up. Their team has been changed beyond belief Kaka,Cesar are two of a few names you never though ud see at Stoke. I really do think and believe that 6th-4th spot can be anyones Stoke also fall into that pile with Sunderland,Liverpool,United and Chelsea as for now: 8TH Wolves: Their man has learnt and come to grips with the harsh nature of Forum football as i like to call it. He has the experiance now to know when and how to change things up if results start to slip, Their first team looks miles away form the one he took over and its a job really well done in the market id say: 9th Everton: A strong team with one stand out name. Fabregas will surly be their main man and lead the team, However their depth like many is the problem a bad knock to him or a 3 game ban could hurt everton. But i think they have jsut about the right mix to get the last European place. It will be a close one mind. 10th Some people reading this now are going to feel annoyed and will think thay have been over looked, The problem with teams around this kind of area (9th-13th) is that they all have the footing to do so well, Each squad is a little thin but thats needed for quality players to come in. Its almost impossible to predict the midtable area, Prove me wrong thats what its all about. 11th-20th will be up shortly need a break after all chaps

How's about a new game, eh? Dingbats is a game where there is a single image or a group of images, and the players have to say what they see and it makes a name/phrase/noun etc. As this is SM, though, we shall keep it football-related. For example, if you saw these pictures: You would get the former West Brom striker Geoff Horsfield. This is because we have pictures of Jeff Stelling, a horse, and a field. Make sense? Here's an easy one. Guess it before you look at the answer below (not that you need to!). Guess it? That's right, it's football! The pictures can be whatever you like (as long as they're not offensive, or if we can't tell what the picture is supposed to be of!), and the answer doesn't have to be football-related, as long as one of the pictures used is. Got all of that? See pictures, say pictures, guess correctly, win pride amongst your fellow forumers. Simples!

Manchester City Blog - The 12th Power!

Since the official thread for the league went a little dry and everybody near bailed out, I've decided to make a thread just for my City transfer reports/match reports and everything else. Previously tried this with Tottenham but if i'm honest I couldn't keep it going due to everything going on in terms of college, A-level's and all the rest of it. So i'm here now with my beloved Manchester City and I'll give it my best to make this work and so it's enjoyable. I'll be posting all my previous stuff from this season here first and just adding to it in the coming weeks. IMPORTANT: Do not write on this thread, if you got any messages for me on what you think of my blogs or whatever else it is to do with this thread then PM me. Hope you enjoy reading.

Re: Lucas Piazon - Sao Paolo's Kaka?? duno what the fuss is.he aint gonna make it. not at chelsea. there youth policy is AWFUL. look at the guys who left this summer who never got a look in. chelsea will never nuture young talent, not with abramovich at the helm. cash will always be spent to get a ready made replacement. Jean CHERA is the guy its all about. just got a move from Santos to Genoa. again though, another overhyped brazilian teenager.

    New User Interface [Beta]

Re: New User Interface [beta] They have tweaked the menus, by simply moving them from the side to the top of the screen. It's not rocket science figuring out where everything is. It's only difficult right now because you haven't taken the time to get used to it. I have and find it just as easy to use as before. Three extra clicks? Rubbish. To access the advanced search before, you had to click on the drop-down menu before getting to that page. That's two clicks. Now, you hover over "Gameworld" (that's ZERO clicks), click on "Transfer Market" (that's ONE click) and then click on the "Search" tab - guess what...that's TWO clicks!! Exactly the same as before. And they have now added an "Advanced Player Search" button, so it's now even one click! Blimey. Any poll created in the past 24 hours would be hugely swayed. Any poll created next week - which they clearly aim to do - will offer a more balanced range of results since most people will have had a chance to explore and get used to the site, thus offering them a more thoughtful view of the changes. A change that could easily be made. If enough people protest about it, I'm sure they shall change this. Sarcasm? If so, I don't understand why. They've recognised an unpopular feature and rectified it. Notice how you completely ignored this section of the post.

    Leicester City GC28 News&Transfers

Re: Leicester City GC28 News&Transfers Angel Rangel signs three-year deal at Leicester Angel Rangel has ended speculation over his future by signing a three-year contract with Leicester City. The news is a boost to the Championship newcomers after the departures of Richie Wellens and Lloyd Dyer. Leicester chairman Vichai Raksriaksorn said: "There has been interest from Premier League clubs in Angel. "But he is very pleased to try and achieve his dream of reaching the Premier League with the club he left his native Spain for." Right-back Rangel joined Swansea from Spanish side Terrassa in 2007. The 28-year-old's contract was due to expire at the end of June, leading to fears he could be leaving on a free transfer if he could not agree a deal with another club. Raksriaksorn added: "We are very happy to secure Angel's future for the next three years. Jenkins has said that contract negotiations with players had become complex since they won promotion to the Championship. "Moving to the Championship is going to bring its new challenges and that's something we obviously anticipated and we will learn very quickly," he said. "A lot of the talk is not really about the salary, it's about the relegation clauses in contracts. "That's something that is pretty much on everybody's focus when you're talking about contracts these days and it's something we've got to get used to." vpaWGfGa5tE

I mean, ?? :D:D Also, for the chap who moaned that he couldn't find out if it's a domestic or international game coming up without clicking into more screens, well, if you hover your mouse over where it says 'Today', it tells you what game is being played that day. As John said, everything's there that was there before, and a whole lot more. It's been a terrific step forward.

EC 8000 - The Wrexham Era

Re: EC 8000 - The Wrexham Era WREXHAM SEASON PREVIEW With the appointment of a new manager. Wrexham will be looking to have a long and successful era under Tang. Wrexham finished 4th last season but wasn't promoted into League Two. The Red Dragons have had a frustrating few seasons and will be looking to gain promotion. The Club Captain: Vincenzo Fiorillo. The Italian goalkeeper will look to keep the squad calm at tough times, a certain leader, easily compared to Casillas's leadership qualities at Madrid. The Target Man: Alvaro Morata. The spaniard was previously in Real Madrid, he has trained with the best and has learnt from the best, now, he will try to use that to influence Wrexham in their push for promotion. The Playing Style: Wrexham possesses strong width through their 2 loans, they will be looking to get crosses into Morata. Looking to finish in position: Top 5 is the target. Champions would be great, but the promotion play-offs would be good too. The Midfield: Both Chadli and Leadbitter will be constant threats down the flanks, they will deliver deadly crosses which Alvaro Morata will be expected to get in the back of the net. Hazard, Amini and Markovic will lead the centre of the midfield. Hazard and Markovic will push forward and Amini will play a more defensive role. The Defence: The only worrying thing about Wrexham, Schonheim, the loan, will be solid in the centre, however, the other 3 defensive positions look to be under pressure a lot this season. The Shot-Stopper will be a very agile one, the club captain Vincenzo Fiorillo will also be the No.1 Goalkeeper, Fiorillo is expected to have a good season in the goal. The Manager: Yee Chung Tang is a Malaysian rookie that impressed the club in a trial match. The Malaysian newcomer will be looking to push for promotion and hopefully avoid the sacking. A 1 year contract for the new manager is not great, but will definitely be extended if Wrexham are promoted to League Two. The Chairman has announced that Tang will stay only if they get better than the second half of promotion play-offs. The Manager's first task will be to win the angered fans over with a good season start. The Fans's point of view: Dave Pugh: "We don't like what the chairman has done appointing a manager that has absolutely no experience, he will not be able to control the players, he's only 24. Most players are older than him, they won't listen to him. If we can finish in the top 10 this season, I'll be surprised, dumb move by the club. Rob Mariano: "I'm very optimistic, I honestly think the new manager will shock the fans with promotion, but that's just me." The three key players: Vincenzo Fiorillo - If our defence stumbles, the only thing to save us will be Fiorillo, the new club captain will be expected to do an astounding job guarding our goal. Nacer Chadli - The winger on loan from Wolves will be looking to deliver deadly crosses, which is what the new manager has enforced as their new playing style. Alvaro Morata - The width play supplements Morata's style of play. Morata is a target man, we will be relying on him to get on the end of Chadli and Leadbitter's crosses and hopefully score many goals. He will also be expected to get the ball to his striking partner Paco Alcacer. The three key players A Controversial Manager Quote: Our Pick for a Fan Quote: A very topsy-turvy season awaits Wrexham. We all feel that the season could make or break the new management, this will be one of the most exciting start to the seasons for Wrexham fans. This season, Wrexham will either have an extremely good one, or an an absolutely horrendous season. How the controversial new manager copes with the Wrexham squad will decide their fate. Happy Wrexham fans crowd the Racecourse ground. Will it be the same this season?

Re: EC7925 - Sheffield Wednesday - "Rise of the Owl' Wednesday Chase Bernat Sheffield Wednesday scouts have been spotted in Spain at the Mestella stadium home of Valencia. Our sources suggest that they have been watching talented left winger Juan Bernat. Who recently started for Valencia in the first game of La Liga and more than impressed. Spanish papers are liking him to the next Vicente, as he has all the attributes to become a world class player. Juan Bernat - Future Superstar? Bernat will cost Wednesday around 500k, after his impressive performance and his huge potential. At just 18 years old it seems the young winger has the world at his feet. It is likely Harris will ask Valencia about the player as he looks to develop and expand his young squad with more talent. With Bernat having friends at Wednesday in Aurtenetxe and Sarabia it would come as no surprise if he wanted to change clubs and join the Sheffield revolution.

I don't know if someone else has asked this question so sorry if you have, but when you are in the new SM interface, how do you get onto the Forum directly from there like we used to do? I have to now type it in separately, (Soccermanager Forum) in google to get on here which isn't the worst thing in the world, just inquisitive. You know, old age is a terrible thing and it comes to us all heh heh. PS....SM, When we getting squad numbers? lol, been waiting about two years now!

He's a decent player, a better one than Veloso I'd say as he's a regular for the German national team as well. Re: SMFA Blocks this smfa thing is stupid i feel sorry for the guy who wanted messi i mean this is meant to be a game were we are the managers so we should choose who were willing to sell and what were willing to pay we dont play games like championship manager and they tell us we cant have that player cause the fa wont allow it like ive said before i agreed to sell sanchez for cavani plus costa plus pedro leon now we coudent get cavani and another player in the deal due to smfa so the guy gave me 12 mill to help with the cost so that got accepted and then i tried to buy costa and leon but it wont allow me can anyone see anything wrong with this deal? this was in a gc cavani+douglas costa+pedro leon = alexis sanchez and money ive been playing this game for over 3 years now my rep is 229 and i have to saythis is the first time im starting to get fed up with this game the enjoyment has gone from this game and im really considering just giving up on this game ive got a friend who plays this game and we have never ever been able to do a transfer deal together or do a loan deal and its frustrating because this is the point of this game to play with your friends and we cant even join the same leagues no more which is fine if you think were cheating then remove 1 of us from the leagues were in but we have never done 1 deal between us and ive never ever been done for cheating or even reported for that matter

Re: thoughts on the match reports and player rating "My opposition had far fewer shots than me, far fewer on target also, actually 3 AND SCORE 3! To cap it all my Goalkeeper obviously didn't save one shot on target, but was so skilled at picking the ball out of his net that SM RATED HIM 8 out of 10! Pathetic! " thats what im talking about soccahappy....surly it would make it more realistic to have a sophisticated engine that gives clues as to where a team went wrong. Surly a large part of a managing a team is to analysis past performances to see where improvement can be made and where tactics were wrong! If its just random then its kind of pointless. An example would be if i played a young 82 rated CB against better opposition then i would expect to see a low rating for this player against better opposition as he is out of his depth with no experience. So as a beginner manager if i was loosing games and did nt know why i could analysis the past stat reports and see that the 82 rated CB got an average of 5.5 performance rating and thats an indicator/clue to a change that needs to be made. I have some questions about the match commentary but i will leave for another post but again i think that is pointless and just frustrating to read if it cant provide clues or indicators as to what changes should be made. As you said...giving your keeper a rating of 8 after conceding 3 goals does nt do much for the credibility of the game...that is unless the match commentary show he made a few magnificent saves...but my thoughts are that the match commentary is not linked to player rating or stat report which undermines the game again. THIS IS JUST MY INITIAL OPINION I COULD BE WRONG SO PLEASE ADVISE OF YOUR EXPERIENCE. Cheers

Re: Zarate, Erding or Jeremain Lens Erding will probably be the last choice of the three. Lens is a decent player but don't see him rising at PSV tbh and Zarate has just joined Inter although it remains to be seen of his role for them. Will probably go for Zarate as he has a chance to rise should he hold down a first team spot.
