  4. Had a break from the game for over a year but I'm back now. This will be my first team and what better way to start with a div5 challenge! Most of my efforts will be focused on this setup so feel free to read my journey to the epl. I enjoy writing reports so just ignore when I start to get carried away --------------------
  5. Re: English Championship 8000 - Discussion Thread Newport County "Exiles" set to unveil 3 marquee signings tomorrow. Every existing Exile will be sold with the new manager deciding on a complete rebuild. Let me know if anyone has a 78/79 forward to loan ... Haven't bought a striker yet and I'v run out of cash already
  6. Re: English Championship 8000 - Discussion Thread Had a 1 year break from the game but I'm back now. Took over Newport County in div5 as my first team Not much to work with so it's gonna be a challenge. 20+ new signings to be announced tomorrow!!
  7. Re: Official Gold Championships Discussions Thread the chairman value possibly changed? Someone might have bought a different player from that unmanaged team hence raising the value of the remaining players. Happened to me just yesterday
  8. Re: Locked Gameworlds I'm assuming we're talking about customs? As long as the owner/creator of the gameworld still has gold membership, then they are entitled to have control of it even without managing a club. I'm not quite sure but I think SM releases the gameworlds when the owner runs out of membership or becomes inactive.

  10. Re: Gold Championship 73 |Official Thread|Match Reports|News| Heerenveen sinks luckless Feyenoord Match Summary SC Heerenveen have secured an impressive 3-1 win over Feyenoord in what was a fairly one-sided encounter at the De Kuip Stadion. Heerenveen's Brazilian duo of S.JEAN CARLOS and C. PAULO HENRIQUE were simply unstoppable up front, with the latter cashing in with an impressive 2 goal first half display. The second half was much of the same, with new signing, J.SZEKELY slotting a screamer, which all but ensured a valuable away win. Despite scoring a late consolation goal from J. DE GUZMAN, Feyenoord's midfield failed to impress, managing a measly 38% possession in front of their home fans. LEFT:C. PAULO HENRIQUE always seemingly 'one step ahead'. RIGHT: SC Heerenveen celebrate after the final whistle. The win sends Heerenveen up to 2nd place on the Eredivisie table, which is a fantastic achievement considering the manager's expectations prior to the season opener. After 3 consecutive 'upset' wins, SC Heerenveen will look to continue their good form when they return home to face strugglers, NAC Breda on Wednesday. On the other hand, Feyenoord have made their worst ever start to the season in the clubs history, picking up just 1 point in their first 5 league games. Pressure is starting to mount on Feyenoord's manager, Dave Izod as their season continues to slip away. -------------------------------------------------- Club Best and Fairest ... After each league match, the coach and directors of SC Heerenveen will select who the best three players on the day for Heerenveen were via a 3-2-1 voting style. At seasons end, the player with the greatest accumulation of votes will be declared as the Club's Best and Fairest player. The inaugural Abe-Lenstra Medal will be awarded to the player adjudged the SC Heerenveen Club Champion over the immediately preceding Dutch football season. It is named after Abe Lentra, widely regarded as the best player to have represented Heerenveen back in the 1950's.
  11. Re: Official Gold Championships Discussions Thread GC65: Celtic will host Inter in the SMFA CC QF on monday night. Going in with zero confidence as they'll be at full strength. Going to play V.Attacking just for fun. GC53: Spartak embarrassingly lose 5 in a row, 3 being unmanaged sides . Did so well last season but have capitulated to the bottom despite using the same tactics. Will have to alter the formations again GC71: Real Madrid 5-1 Deportivo. Stays undefeated after 10. GC73: SC Heerenveen upsets Feyenoord 3-1 which makes it 3 'surprise' victories in a row . Jumped to second place, many tough games on the way tho.
  12. Re: Available Teams, No Job Offers! (GC Teams Only!) GC75 - Tottenham! edit: gone
  13. Re: Official Gold Championships Discussions Thread Played 17. Didn't get any draws GC33: Erzgebirge Aue sit in last place despite a 2-0 win over Arminia Bielefeld. 7 points behind 15th place with 8 games left. Good challenge GC53: Spartak makes it 5 losses in a row. GC65: Celtic 2-0 Aberdeen. Much needed win which maintains the 6 point lead over Rangers. My 2nd XI is pretty bad, don't know whether I should play full strength [which isn't that good anyway] against Inter in the SMFA Cup QFs and risk losing the league title. Last week results: 2nd XI lost 5-2 to aberdeen; First XI won 2-0 against Juventus. GC73: Heerenveen makes it 2 upsets in a row with a big 4-1 win over Groningen. Enjoying this GC/team alot! Watch out for them in the future
  14. Re: Gold Championship 73 |Official Thread|Match Reports|News| Socceroos have a new manager! News Article Football Federation Australia has confirmed Local boy, William Chen as the new Socceroos coach through to the end of this season's World Cup campaign. The current Heerenveen boss will have less than two weeks with the Australian side before the World Cup qualifiers begin on November 13 against Wales. William said he was excited about the challenge ahead and was very confident he would secure Australia's passage into the World Cup. ---------------------------------- At club level, Heerenveen will travel to the Euroborg and play FC Groningen tonight. Despite being under prepared and away on international duty, the Heerenveen manager still fancies his sides chances at toppling FC Groningen who are currently undefeated. Changes in the First XI for wednesday's fixture. INs: N'koulou, Szekely OUT: Nibombe, Smarason 'Number one'; New coach sets high standards.
  15. Re: Help With Deal(s) Thread... Since I've never seen these 2 play, is this a fair deal? Abidal straight swap for Corluka. thanks in advance
  16. Re: Gold Championship Teams - Who I'm Going For & Who I Landed ! Been made!!!
  17. Re: Urgent!! but does having +10 morale make a really big impact? I wouldn't have a clue For me, I'd probably base my decision on fitness, rating and form before morale. I'd go with Dzeko and Bojan as that CF could be handy depending on the tactics you use, doubt it makes much of a difference tho.

Re: Finance Short answer- the only way to increase the transfer budget is to sell a player or wait until the current season finishes. For the latter, how much that is allowed in the transfer budget for the following season will depend on your overall budget. SM Online Help explains this in better detail: http://www.soccermanager.com/help.php?action=loadarticle&catid=56
  19. Re: Better Protection For Unmanaged Clubs In Gold Championships Anyone notice that the Club AI kicking in is actually making the 21 squad cap pointless? Unmanaged clubs are buying their real life players back which most often are youth players rated under 80 (especially in competitive setups like GC's). This basically exposes their next best player for raiding and basically kills off any slim hope of the club being managed even further. I'm not sure why SM introduced this to Gold Championships. It actually makes the club less attractable?
  20. Re: Gold Championship 73 |Official Thread|Match Reports|News| Double delight for Heerenveen debutant Match Summary An emphatic 2 goal display from new signing, S. JEAN CARLOS has helped Heerenveen upset Standard Liege 3-2 in front of a sellout crowd at the Abe Lenstra. The result gives Heerenveen its first win of the season as well as handing previously unbeaten Standard Liege its first defeat under their new manager. The first goal came in the 29th minute, with JEAN CARLOS pressuring and forcing the Liege defense into a poor mistake at the back. The Brazilian was able to capatalize to give the home side a one goal lead at the break in what was a fairly unconvincing 1st half performance from both sides. When the teams emerged from the break, Liege looked the much livelier, dominating in just about every facet of the match. It was only a question of 'when' rather than 'if' the Heerenveen back-line was able to hold up. Up stepped Aston Villa discard, S. PETROV who in the 58th minute, from outside the box, silenced the home fans with a stunning curler landing in the top corner of the goal. 1-1 with still a third of the game to play ... Just after the equaliser, it was the Heerenveen Manager who made the big moves, subbing a defender off for a forward as well as replacing the 5-3-2 formation with a more attacking 3-4-1-2. This decision paid immediate dividends, with D. MICHKOV poaching a goal in the 62nd minute and another great finish from JEAN CARLOS in the 66th gave Heerenveen a commanding 3-1 lead with just 20 to play. Some pure brilliance from former Villareal now Liege midfielder, A. IBAGAZA reduced the margin back to 1 and it was almost a sense of Déjà vu, considering Heerenveen had blown the lead in their 2 previous matches. The last 10 minutes was all Liege, with L. JIMINEZ embarrassingly missing an open goal which summed up their night. Standard Liege dominated shots and possession and will be ruing this game as a 'missed opportunity'. Despite being lackluster, Heerenveen were still able to slot 3 goals against good opposition and can take confidence into their next match against FC Groningen. A very emotional side celebrating their first win of the season.

  22. Re: Official Gold Championships Discussions Thread Gold Championship 75 will be created on Monday 2nd November, 2009, at a random time (which can be at any time between 00:00 and 23:59 Game Time). between 15:00 and 23:00 more like it prove me wrong.
  23. Re: Gold Championship 73 |Official Thread|Match Reports|News| SC Heerenveen 'Building for the future' -------------------- Season 1; Round 2 .... Heerenveen 1-3 FC Twente ... Venue: Abe Lenstra Stadion Attendance: 25,571 C.PAULO HENRIQUE (6) K.PEREZ (35) K.PEREZ (57) O.HARGREAVES (65) ........29.10.09 .. 8pm GT ........ SC Heerenveen 'outplayed' Match Summary SC Heerenveen's second game of the season was up against early competition front-runners, FC Twente. Despite making more than 70 transfers, Heerenveen were by far the weaker side, fielding a first XI average of just 85. FC Twente headed into this game as unbackable favorites and the result certainly proved this with K.Perez bagging 2 goals. In the end, Heerenveen's lack of skill and finishing touches was the difference between them and the visitors. FC Twente striker, K.PEREZ firing home two goals, well and truly deserving of the MOTM. It was the 2nd game in a row in which Heerenveen failed to protect their lead. Questions must be asked about their brittle defense, who continue to leak fairly 'soft' goals. Despite the classy goal from PAULO HENRIQUE in the 6th minute, their were little positives to come out of this game. They're a work in progress and will need a lot of improvement if they are to stay up in the eredivise come seasons end. In other news, Heerenveen have released young strikers, Michal PAPADOPULOS and Patrik INGELSTEN after two poor performances at the club. Overnight signings include Africans N.N'KOULOU and D.NIBOMBE with more expected to sign once medical checks have been completed. Changes in the First XI for saturday's fixture. INs: Nibombe, Smarason, Michkov, Jean Carlos. OUT: Biemans, Janmaat, Ingelsten, Papadopulos.
