  1. Re: A clock? The SM clock is a good addition especially for people playing in different parts of the world. One small thing though, why does it say GMT? Its not Greenwich Mean Time, the UK is on BST (British Summer Time). Slightly pedantic I know:D but SM should just take away the GMT and call it SM time.
  2. Re: 4-1-3-2 formation Thanks for the help, looks like I need to try a 4-3-1-2 then!
  3. Re: 4-1-3-2 formation I just thought I'd resurrect this thread to ask if anyone has any good counter formations for the 4-1-3-2? I'm 2nd in the league with only 4 games left and decided to look at my season so far. To my horror I realised that having lost just 6 games all season, 4 of those games were against teams playing 4-1-3-2! I've had a good look on the forum but I've already tried all the suggested counter formations. I've used 3-4-1-2 attacking and lost, 3-5-2 defensive twice and although I had more possesson (55% and 62%) I lost both times. I also tried a 4-4-2 diamond which was suggested on the forum and lost again. Another formation I read was good against the 4-1-3-2 is the 5-4-1, but I havent tried that yet. So has anyone got any experience of beating this formation? Any help would be very much appreciated!
  4. Re: Spanish Ratings Wow, customer relations really are dead! One of the most shocking posts I've read recently. "We are becoming sick and tired of explaining every decision we make." Firstly if this is the case a simple note on the support ticket section explaining this would help! If your post said "I fink Marcelo shud go up cause I fink he's good", I may have simpathy for the support team, but it was a compelling case you put forward. Also you say its your first ever ticket sent regarding player ratings! The response from SM support was both childish and insulting in my opinion. They've created such a great game its a shame to spoil it.
  5. Re: Your First Football Game Live? My first match was at Anfield for Liverpool v Aston Villa. It was 18th January 1997. I was in the paddock enclosure at the front of the main stand. Amazing memories and turned me into a football loving freak! Turned out to be a momentous match because a young lad called Jamie Carragher made his premiership debut. He came on in midfield and scored! So me and my mates thought he was an attacking midfielder!
  6. Re: Importance of High Rep Power The question ‘what is the importance of high rep power’ can be answered quite simply by each individual that uses this forum. I’m an experienced manager on SM having played for over a year and a half, as you can see by my join date I’ve been on the forum for a long time. I don’t post much because when I’m on the forum I’m usually looking at the player talent scout section, and only post when I see something interesting or to give tactical advice to a newbie. Rep power means very little to me because I see a lot of posts from forumers with high rep power that are either pointless or tactically naive. However, there are also a lot of forumers with high rep power who regularly make great posts and are tactically astute, so it works both ways. I look at quality of posts rather than rep power. As for, “winning support from fellow forumers in an argument whether they are right or wrong”, don’t worry about it! There will always be friendships developing over time and therefore friendly bias shown occasionally, but just stick to your argument if you think its right and who knows forumers like me who read but don’t always post may well be agreeing with you but not posting to say so!

  8. Re: Kevin's Big 4 Changes! Since Aggers injury early in the season Hyypia has been right up there with Carragher as a rock in the heart of defence. Alan Hansen recently said that Hyypia has had THE BEST season he's ever had in a Liverpool, and I would concur. You admit that he was once good but to say he's not as good nowadays is simply and factually incorrect.
  9. Re: Kevin's Big 4 Changes! Love it, best post I've seen in ages! I'm really surprised at some peoples comments especially regarding Reina and Mascherano. I think one game is responsible for clouding peoples otherwise good judgement, and I'm not going to mention it because even thinking of Old Trafford makes me wince!
  10. Re: Kevin's Big 4 Changes! Agree with all the above except the ones in bold, Wes Brown 'hardly plays', he has started 39 games for united this season in all competitions 4th highest of any united player and same as ronaldo. Deserves 90 imo. If the ratings were based on the last 3 weeks I'd agree with Reina going down 1, but based on the last 3 months since the last EPL ratings change he deserves his 93 rating. LFC have the 3rd best goals against average behind united and chelsea, Reina has a lot to do with that.
  11. Re: Cup fitness I don't think the current system needs to change and I have a little advice for those of you with small squads. In SM the minimum squad size is 18 players. To keep your squad fit when playing 3 games a week all you need is 15 outfield players (if you use my simple system) so you don't need a big squad. Using the standard setups template of a game saturday, monday and wednesday this is what you do: You have to change 5 outfield players per match (so basically half your team). Its fine to play a player on the saturday and monday OR the monday and wednesday, the fitness problems only start if they play sat, mon and wed. On the sat all your players are 100% fit, on monday you bring in the 5 fresh players so they are 100% fit and the other 5 are 85%-95% fit. Then on the wednesday you bring in the 5 players that were rested on monday who will be 100% fit and use the 5 fittest from monday who will be 85%-95% fit. By the saturday you will have 10 fully fit outfield players again, then repeat. This means you only need 15 outfield players and any more players you have can cover injuries and suspensions. Hope I explained that okay, its really simple to do but more difficult to explain! GC's play more games so obviously this doesn't apply to them.
  12. Re: unavailable!!! I really like this idea as well. If you want to send a ticket just write your proposal in a polite way as you did in the first post on this thread. You could also point them in the direction of this thread because there seems to be a general approval of your suggestion.

  14. Re: Cheats in WC 1781 There are obviously loads of people that try to cheat in this game especially in the new standard setups (because there are loads of new managers), but don't be too disheartened. I can understand what havoc says about sticking to GC's to keep away from cheats but the ticket system in SM is so good now that if you are vigilant you can keep cheats out. In the last 6 months I have got countless cheats thrown out of setups, I check the 'all transfers' section every so often and if I see anything dodgy I report it and SM act very quickly in these matters from my experience. It doesn't take long to do and it keeps setups clean of cheats. Reading the first post on this thread it sounds daunting that so many people are cheating, but SM will sort it out if you inform them. I had a nightmare setup which I was very close to quiting when i first started playing SM, but now with the cheats thrown out we're in the 4th season and only very rarely do you spot a cheat. Anyway good luck with your situation.
  15. Re: Can AM play as a CM A little proof if needed:D In a 3-4-1-2 the right and left midfield positions are numbers 7 and 8' date=' I have Deco and Xavi in these positions and guess what they both got 9 out of 10!
  16. Re: Can AM play as a CM One of the secrets of SM (not any more) is that AM's can play anywhere across the midfield with absolutely no restriction on their performance. I played ribas diego on the right of midfield for my title winning Sao Paulo team and his average rating was higher than any of my other midfielders who were playing in their correct positions.
  17. Re: Cool things on the internet You may not no how to do Hi, first of all gr8 thread, who said playing computer games wasn't educational? I need a little help though, I went onto vixy.net and converted a youtube video to MP4 for ipod with no probs at all, but now I can't put it onto my ipod, I've tried opening it with itunes but nothing comes up. Am I missing something really obvious? Thanks for any help!
  18. Re: Your Favourite Clubs on SM When I first started playing SM just over a year ago I was looking through the setups (in the old days when you had to search through every setup to get a club) and I couldn't believe my eyes, I found my beloved Liverpool unmanaged! I was new to the game and made a few transfer errors in the early days, but here's my squad now: And here's my profile, a few titles in the bag, am now going to concentrate on getting a good youth squad.
