  1. Re: Official Gold Championship 182 Thread Blackpool manager here, grabbed Steven Davis from Southampton, started the campaign with a 1-0 win at home to Bristol City. Hoping to win promotion. Good luck to all.
  2. Re: Official Gold Championships Discussions Thread Took over Blackpool in 148 about a week ago and got my first victory with the club, a surprise 3-1 victory over arsenal. Debutant Zoltan Stieber netted twice and winger Hugo Droguett got the other. Very happy with that hopefully more of the same against Everton on Wendesday.
  3. Re: Official Gold Championships Discussions Thread GC: 148 - Lost 3-1 to Wolves at the Molineux. Wolves are a stronger side on paper and im happy with the performance matching them in possession and shots on target. Benjani grabbed his 5th in 3 games. Next up Bristol City at Bramall Lane. In transfer news brought in Cavalho Caleb, Lee Lucas, Arsen Khubulov, Kamal Ibrahim, and Tom Eastman for the youth team in exchange for a total of 2.6 Million pounds and Mattew Lowton. Also got Baumjohann from Shalke on loan, unfortunately he suffered a minor injury in todays game vs Wolves. Expected to be out for one to two weeks.

  5. Re: Official Gold Championships Discussions Thread GC:148 - My newly acquired Sheffield United came out on top 2-1 over Shorpe United in the 2nd game of the season. Mwaruwari Benjani scored both the goals taking his league total to 4 in just the second week of play. Wayne Hennessey was brilliant in goal and earned man of the match. 3 new signings are also reportedly to be completed in the next 24 hours.
  6. Re: GC148 discussion / rumours etc thread Took over Sheffield United. Pretty good squad young talent. Not much of a budget though. Hopefully be in for promotion won first league game 5-0 over Millwall and won 2-0 over Bath City in the English Shield First Round.

Spending a total of 3,681,000 pounds and defender Carlos Alberto Valencia. Manchester United have sold striker Wayne Rooney to Milan for Alexandre Pato and Marco Borriello.
  8. Re: Official Gold Championships Discussions Thread GC:111 - Newcastle United pull off an amazing upset over Bayern Munich in the SMFA Shield. After losing 2-1 away at the Allianz Arena, Newcastle fought back and helped by a brace from Tom De Sutter, beat Bayern in regular time 2-1. 3-3 on aggregate the match went to penalties. Newcastle keeper Shay Given became the hero saving 4 of Bayern's kicks from the spot. Newcastle advance to play Genoa in the second round. Newcastle 2-1 Bayern Munich (agg. 3-3) (pen. 2-1)
  9. Re: Official Gold Championships Discussions Thread GC:111 - Newcastle United comfortably advance to the 3rd round of the English Shield, beating Bolton Wanderers 3-0. Ola Toivonen, Steven Saunders, and Junior Simao doing the scoring. Newcastle next test in the shield will be Everton, which should be the most exciting match in round 3. Newcastle face Man United in the league on Wednesday, and then play Bayern Munich Friday at St. James Park down 2-1 on aggregate in the first round of the SMFA Shield. In transfer news, Newcastle are reportedly looking to sign Greg Cunningham from the LA Galaxy, Callum Mcmanaman from Wigan Athletic, and Reinhold Yabo who is currently a free agent.
  10. Re: Official Gold Championships Discussions Thread GC111: The Spending at Newcastle United continues as manager Sacha Canning announced the signing of 28 year old American Landon Donovan for 8.5 million pounds and striker Nile Ranger. Another deal has reportedly been accepted by Aston Villa, a 16 million pound deal for defender Carlos Cuellar. These signings coupled with the signing of Miguel Flano, have greatly strengthened the back line for Newcastle, and added some much needed experience in what is an extremely young team.
  11. Re: must buy players????? They are not old or off topic. Basically what you want is 1 forum post which has all the best players on it. Unfortunately that does not exist and you must instead read through the various topics and posts on this forum to research and find players that may rise. Also it is advisable to do your own research by watching televised games or looking on various football orientated websites (IE: ESPN). If SM gave you a list of who you should or shouldn't buy it would kind of take out the whole point of the game, as one of the biggest parts of being a football manager is finding and signing the best possible players that you can.
  12. Re: Official Gold Championships Discussions Thread GC:111- Newcastle unveiled their first signing of the season, with Miguel Flano joining the club from Hull City for a hefty 12 million pounds. The 26 year old center back looks to make his debut in the English Shield vs. Bolton. Rumors are a deal has been accepted for FC Shalke 04's Landon Donovan as well.
  13. Re: Official Gold Championships Discussions Thread GC:111-Newcastle start their third season under manager Sacha Canning with back to back 2-0 wins against Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur. Everyone is really pleased with the start as City and Spurs are no pushovers and hope it's a sign of things to come for the magpies this season. A loss in the first leg of the SMFA Shield to Bayern Munich was a disappointment, but with the second leg at home and only a 2-1 deficit on aggregate, the team are optimistic about their chances. Stoke City are Newcastle's next opponent, The Potters travel to St. James on Saturday in what should be a good contest. Transfer rumours have been swirling around St. James park, with Dimitris Salpingidis and Igor de Camargo going out, Newcastle have a decent budget to bring in some new players, and the word is that the boss is looking to spend up to 35 Million pounds to bring in some talented young defenders. Canning's squad is filled with youth, with an average age of 22 and no outfield players over the age of 26, experience could be a problem for Canning, especially in Newcastle's first run in Europe.
  14. Re: Official Gold Championships Discussions Thread GC111- Newcastle lose 4-1 to Manchester United, and fall to 3rd place in the league on goal difference, with 5 matches to go. After the loss, manager Sacha Canning made several moves, signing Javier Pastore, Carlos Martins, and Marvin Commper all on loan deals. Youngster Korey Smith is also coming to the club from Norwich City, on a deal belived to be around 1.9 million pounds. Newcastle have also been linked with Younes Kaboul of Tottenham, but a deal has yet to be reached. Newcastle play Queens Park Rangers on Wendseday, looking to seal the win and regain 2nd place from Liverpool.

  17. Re: Official Gold Championships Discussions Thread GC111: Newcastle United 1-1 Chelsea, 85 minute equaliser from Mikel secured the draw from Chelsea, after Salpingidis put Newcastle ahead in the first half. The result means that Newcastle still trail league leaders Chelsea by 7 points, and 3rd place Liverpool gained two points on both teams with their 4-2 win over Hull City. Newcastle play Manchester United on new years at St. James Park, and with only 6 games left to play, wins are crucial for Newcastle title hopes.
  18. Re: Official Gold Championships Discussions Thread GC:111 - Newcastle United draw 1-1 to Tottenham at St. James Park. Piatti's 22nd minute tap in put Newcastle ahead, but a quick equalizer 3 minutes later by Patrick Viera earned Tottenham a point. Newcastle stay in second place, 5 points behead leaders Chelsea.
  19. Re: Official Gold Championships Discussions Thread GC:111- Newcastle United beat Fulham 2-0 to stay in 2nd place in the premiership. De Sutter scored his 11th of the season, and Diaz's 75th minute header was his first in the competition. Newcastle remain 2 points ahead of 3rd place Liverpool, and 3 behind leaders Chelsea. Newcastle travel to Anfield wendseday, to play Liverpool in a high stakes match for second place.
  20. Re: Official Gold Championships Discussions Thread GC111: Newcastle United celebrate the return of Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Shay Given, from Sporting CP in a straight player swap for Fabricio Coloccini.
