  1. Re: Gold Championship 14 (News, Gossip, Match Report, Etc) Thread 2 - 5 Flamengo cruised through the Latin America Cup 2nd round, despite fielding their reserves. The victory was inspired by Michael Johnson, on loan at Flamengo for the rest of the season as part of the Ezquiel Lavezzi deal which saw him join Valencia just over a week ago. The first half saw chances for both teams, and it was Carlos Villanueva who broke the deadlock just after the half hour, showing superb control receiving the long ball, and volleying past the keeper. This was the only goal of the half, with the visitors taking a 1-0 lead into the break. Flamengo came back out and took immediate control of the game, with Morten Gamst Pedersen doubling the advantage after just four minutes, with a diving header at the back post. In the 55th minute Valeri Bojinov got on the scoresheet, against a team he nearly joined a couple of weeks ago after a deal was struck to trade him for Maxi Moralez, with negotiations ending up failing. The Bulgarian striker broke free of the defence thanks to some clever passing by the Flamengo midfield, and was able to rifle a shot in off the post. It was soon 4-0, man of the match Michael Johnson taking advantage of a River Plate mix up, and slamming a low shot past the advancing keeper, in the 59th minute. River Plate got their act together, with Radamel Falcao (65) and Aruna Dindane (69) scoring to reduce the defecit back to 4-2, but just a minute later Bojinov was there again to capitalise on a fumble by the keeper, and rounding off the scoring at 5-2 with his second of the match. Flamengo now face Chivas at home in the Quarter Final in two weeks time.
  2. Re: Help With Deal(s) Thread... Depending on the size of your squad, and particularly your striking options, I would probably go for that, as I rate both players.
  3. Re: The A-Z Almanac Match Report/Transfer Thread/Club News Can I request than Inter hurry up selling their non-I players. Played Chivu and Figo in first match of season, which isn't very fair on the rest of us.
  4. Re: Forumer Of The Year 2008 - (Qualifying) - Group 7 Voted for Deveney. Top Forumer, just shame he's a rubbish manager!
  5. Re: Gold Championship 24 Match Reports/Transfer News etc 3 - 0 Atletico started the season with a dominating victory over Valladoid, to split Spain's big two - Barcelona and Real Madrid - at the top of the table after the first game. Luis Garcia got the ball rolling just 4 minutes into the game, with a speculative chip that crept over the line. Valladoid failed to register a shot on target throughout the entire match, with Atletico only major signing, Hugo Lloris, having little to do on his debut. Atletico confirmed the 3 points around the hour mark, with Paulo Assuncao (61) breaking through the defence and beating the keeper one on one, before Diego Forlan (64) was first to react to a rebound off the bar, and tap home the third.
  6. Re: Gold Championship 23 Match Reports/ Transfers Thread 1 - 2 Manchester United made it three wins in three for the season with a second half fightback to take the points at Ewood Park. Blackburn keeper Paul Robinson was tested within the first minute of the match, but was alert to the early danger. It wasn't long after that Van Der Sar was called into action for the first time, just three minutes into the game, managing to pounce on a loose ball with players scrambling in the 6 yard box. The early exchanges created chances for both sides, with Morten Gamst Pedersen hitting the crossbar for Rovers, whilst Aleksandr Hleb was twice gilty of wasting chances, placing the ball wide in the 10th minute, and blazing over from just 6 yards in the 14th minute. Blackburn made the breakthrough just 2 minutes before half time, when Van Der Sar gifted the ball to Benni McCarthy, to give Blackburn a 1-0 lead. United came out a different side after the break, and dominated the second half. Rio Ferdinand pulled the score back to 1-1 in the 48th minute, reacting first to the rebound to score past Robinson. United contnued to press, and Podolski went close twice, firstly miting a shot wide, but then a second effort that was cleared off the line. However we didn't have to wait much longer to see the away side go into the lead, with Blackburn clearing from a corner, Jonas Gutierrez was hovering outside the box, and smashed a half-volley into the roof of the net. United continued to dominate, with Evra, Tevez and Scholes all having chances to increase the lead, but the game ended 2-1, and the 3 points mean Manchester United are level with Portsmouth at the top of the Premiership, and a tough home derby against Man City awaiting them on Wednesday.
  7. Re: Gold Championship 23 Match Reports/ Transfers Thread 1 - 3 Lukas Podolski dominated this game for Manchester United, with a superb hattrick, taking his tally to 4 goals in 2 games for his new club.
  8. Re: Gold Championship 16- Match Report/Transfers...etc Yeah, they do, but it's not exactly your finest work. You picked up 55 points from 37 games, i've picked up nearly as many (48) from just 16 games! Not saying I should've got it, and like i said below I mean no offence to you, but Chelsea is a top job, and should go to someone with better than a 1.49 average. Anyway, congrats, and best of luck with them. If anyone decent available for loan or cash sale let me know
  9. Re: Mr Nice Guy's International Evolution Quality Overview mighty, thanks Congratulations to the league and cup winners, including myself The ratings limit has now been raised to 88 for season 2, so get bidding

  12. Re: Gold Championship 23 Match Reports/ Transfers Thread 3 - 2 Manchester United started the season with 3 points at home, against a stubborn Everton side. It took just 2 minutes for United to open the scoring for the campaign, when some classy midfield passing was rewarded when Paul Scholes was set clear of the Everton defence, and scored easily past Tim Howard. Everton hit back soon, with a 15th minute strike from Leighton Baines for a brilliant solo goal. However United soon restored the advantage 3 minutes later, when again Paul Scholes prvided the finish, heading home a pinpoint cross. Both sides continued to create chances, but the score remained 2-1 at half time. Everton applied the pressure early in the second half, and were rewarded in the 61st minute, when Aiyegbeni Yakubu thundered home a fantastic overhead kick. But United showed why they're the English Champions and struck back just 5 minutes later, with Lukas Podolski scoring on his debut, striking a long range shot into the top corner. The only disappointment for United was an injury to newboy Andres Iniesta, who picked up a shin injury, and is expected to be out for a couple of weeks.
