Everton Season Preview
It has been a busy week this week at Everton with a new manager being installed and then the manager working, with limited time, on preparing the team for a tough season ahead with preseason and also making the squad his own by using the transfer funds made available to him in the transfer market. "It's been a busy couple of days, what with meeting all the players plus working busy in the transfer market trying to bring in some fresh "young" faces into a aging team. I've been able to bring in some great talent but also missed out on a few of my top targets. However, I feel I have a group of players that can push for a top 5 finish this season and a squad for the future too" said new appointment Benno in his first press conference.
Looking at the Everton Squad:
Tim Howard will once again be in the sticks, with no new faces in this department.
Team captain Jagielka will be at the heart of the defense but manager Benno has added two young central defenders Mangala(aged 23), from Porto, and Isimat-Mirin(22), from Monaco, both will push for a starting position. On the outside Benno sticks with Coleman and Baines but has added Sandro, from Porto, to act as cover along with young Stones (19) who has impress during pre-season.
Manager Benno will also rely on veteran midfield Barry to stabilize the midfield but at the same time has got some more options with more youngster who will compete for positions. Irish international McCarthy will have a big part to play along with Barkley and new signing from Barcelona Roberto, who Benno has high for. On the outside Mirallas will aim to supply plenty of width along with new faces and more youth, Volland, from Hoffenhiem and loan wide man Deulofeu who brings a great deal of excitement with his play. Also , Sandro can and will play on the left side of midfield too.
A lot of good and goals this season will hopefully come through loan striker Lukaku, who's strength and eye for goal will cause many a defense problems. Lukaku is joined in the forward department by new signing from Santos Damiao who comes with a great track record and other loan signing Traore.
Manager Benno is excited for the season ahead but knows this young team will take time to gel and can only gain from experience. "It's a long term plan I have here at Everton and I aim to keep strengthen the side and adding good young players that can complete at the highest level. This season is a transition year but I aim to complete in each and ever game and any silverware we win would be a added bonus" added Benno.
Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion thread
There is no chance Rooney or Evra will get booked, the ref was given a complimentary book before the game "The Rules according to Manchester United and Sir Alex Ferguson", so he know what calls to make and what he shouldn't do so he doesn't upset Sir Alex.
