    United Throw Away Victory

    September 9th 2012
    Premiership Match Day 1

    3-3

A Robin Van Persie brace and a strike from Cristiano Ronaldo had Manchester United 3-1 up at Aston Villa with just over 10minutes remaining, however United threw the lead away to leave Villa Park with just a point.

The game started well for United with Robin Van Persie heading home a perfectly whipped in ball from Antonio Valencia. Aston Villa then pegged United back just 4minutes later. A driven cross from Lucho Gonzalez was delicately flicked past Iker Casillas by compatriot David Villa to bring the home crowd to life.

A frantic opening 20minutes was then completed with United going back in front. Again Antonio Valencia was involved, as he layed the ball in the path of Robin Van Persie and the Dutchman lashed home with Akinfeev helpless to prevent the ball flying into the top corner.

The second half took a while to get going compared to the first. However the game kicked back in to gear in the final 12 minutes. It was Van Persie's time to turn provider as he rolled the ball to Cristiano Ronaldo who skipped past his man then smashed home to take United 3-1 up and look as though they were coasting to victory.

Hoever straight from kick off, a clumsy foul from Nemanja Vidic allowed James Rodriguez to step up from the free kick and whip an effort around the wall and past the outstretched Casillas. With Villa pushing for the equaliser, Bastian Schweinsteiger was able to break from midfield and feed a perfect pass for Van Persie who thought he had tucked home for his hat trick, but the goal was ruled out for off side.

United's misery was compounded just minutes later, as Jame Rodriguez had a pot shot at goal that flew over Casillas and dipped in at the far post to bring Villa level.

Jerome Boateng: I have nothing to prove
Tottenham defeat Fulham 3-1 in their opening fixture
Boateng scored a 79th minute goal and was given the Man of the Match award
Jerome Boateng celebrating with substitute and fellow German Marco Reus
Tottenham's new German defender Jerome Boateng has said he has nothing to prove by playing in England for the first time since leaving Manchester City in 2011 after failing to secure a first team place.
"I love the country and the league is certainly one of the best there is", said Boateng. "I knew when I left that one day I would like to come back. It didn't work out for me a City, but that was mainly due to some injuries I sustained making it hard to me to settle".
"When Spurs came in for me I jumped at the chance to come back, but not in a negative way that I thought I had unfinished business here or to show City what they were missing. I have been very successful in my career and just want to continue to develop and win trophies".
Boateng who can play in any position across the back line was in tremendous form as Tottenham opened their Division 1 campaign with a win over Fulham. He also added Tottenham's second goal after Karim Benzema's and before Lionel Messi's second half strikes.

    Bristol City raring to go!

Sky sports news managed to get hold of Vik P, the current Bristol City manager. Fans and media have constantly praised his transfers as he has turned a mid-table division 3 side, to a team that should be competing at the top of the table. This is what he had to say on the start of the new season:
Roux and Gameiro are looking to light up Div 3!

The Blades are sharp ahead of the new season
Elton's young team are fired up ahead of the tomorrow's first game of the season, the transformation of the once-premiership team has breathed new life into their promotion hopes after failing to bounce back up last season. With the acquisitions of high-quality youngsters such as Willems & Reyes and strikers such as Gignac & Martinez who have something to prove the Blades have high hopes of a high finish in the league. The manager is ruling out auto promotion though, even with the optimism:

Gignac left Marseille after a promising start to the season, where he mades 4 starts and scored 3 goals, is he back to his old self?

    The season will start...
Tomorrow the 1st seson of EC 231990 will start. All the teams looked for reinforcement all arround the world in order to get their team stronger. Rochdale, a simple Division 4 club, is aiming high this season, and you will know why they can...
    The club
    Who to watch 4

Cassio arrived from Corinthians to be the goalkepper this season. He is 25 years old and already has international experience, being called for Brazil national team. He is the biggest hope to close the goal of this solid defence.

Rafael Alcantara will lead Rochdale's midfield on this first season. With only 19 years old, he is the team top and most expensive player. He is the biggest hope for creating attacking chances and distributing assists.

Morata arrived from Real Madrid and with only 19 years old he is looking to make an amazing attack beside Sergio Araujo. He is the biggest hope to make goals this season.
    Starting XI
    Cassio (80)
    Paulo Ferreira (86) - Umtiti (80) - Hegazy (80) - Stafylidis (80)
    Coronado (77) - Alcantara (83) - Pina (84) - Felipe Anderson (80)

    What to expect
Rochdale has one of the youngest teams of Division 4 (the starting XI has an average age of 21) and the biggest fear is that the players wont have enough experience. But the team manager believes that this isn't a problem: "Yes, our team is really young, but this isn't a problem. The players have more will of playing and showing their job. We have a passionate fans that will help us during the whole season." The chairman expectation is that team is fighting for promotion, and this is what Rochdale can achieve this season. The playoffs are the team biggest hope.

    EC 231990's Top Transfers

    Lionel Messi to Tottenham Hospur
I have to start with the obvious, Lionel Messi. It was always going to be a bold statement by whichever club landed the worlds best. Daniel Hart would have been delighted to land the magician and along with some other impressive signings, most noticeable, Marco Reus (which im sure annoyed Raz ) Spurs could be set for a great season.

Mesut Ozil to Queens Park Rangers
Will Trafford would have been thrilled to see his side pull off this ambitious move for the German play maker. This Summer has seen some exciting new faces arrive at Loftus Road and the fans will be feeling optimistic about the season ahead. They could be the ones to watch.

    Robert Lewandowski to Leicester City
Jon Ashby was ecstatic to see his side win the race for the highly rated hitman Robert Lewandowski. The ambitious move highlights city ambitions for the season ahead, and the Foxes manager will be hoping his number 9 settles in quickly and start firing in the goals.

    Andrea Pirlo to Doncaster Rovers
The Italian midfielder completed his move to Doncaster Rovers this week in a stunning move which will see become the highest paid player in the clubs history. The clubs ambition didn't stop their, they also managed to convince fellow Italian legend Del Piero to play his football at the Keepmoat stadium next season.

    Marco Verratti to Charlton Athletic
Charlton Athletic pulled off this fine coup by bringing in future Italian star Marco Verratti. The highly rated youngster will be expected to command the middle of the park for the Addicks, whilst they try to compete in a very competitive Division 2.

    Stephen el Shaarawy to Millwall
The Lions beat off stiff competition in order to bring their man to The Den. El Shaarawy will provide Millwall with the attacking flair needed to get out of Division 2 and manager Geoffrey Kan has expressed his delight at the signing, stating that the kid has a very bright future at the club.

Samuel Umtiti & Ahmed Hegazy to Rochdale
This is a double mention to Rochdale for bringing in 2 highly rated defenders to make for a strong center back partnership in Division 4. The manager will hope to see them both improve in the near future and bring a solid back line to The Dale.

    New Era at Portman Road
A new season brings about a new beginning at Portman Road as the 2012-13 season heralds the beginning of a new era at the Suffolk club. The club were taken over by Snoop Dogg, in what was one of the most shocking news stories to break in the summer. The new owner's first job was to appoint a director of football to deal with the football operations of the club. The man chosen for the job was former Arsenal skipper Tony Adams.
The new DoF's first job was to appoint new boss Arsene Wenger Jr. The manager's real name is unknown but as he has patented his game on the accomplished Frenchman, the name has stuck. With this appointment, the new era had well and truly begun.
The new boss' first action at the new club was to put every player at the club up for sale. This was a drastic measure but it showed that the revolution at Ipswich was not a joke. As the summer went on more and more players departed. This left a huge rebuilding job which the manager immediately got on with.
    The boss said:
The new signings were plentiful. The major signings were of former Arsenal and Sevilla winger Jose Antonio Reyes, Valencia forward Jonas and young Barcelona starlet Isaac Cuenca.

The Spaniards should spearhead the new movement
Experience has also been bought in, in the form of Paulo Cannavaro from Napoli, Maxwell from PSG and Roman Shirokov from Zenit. The new manager believes the mix of youth and experience will stand his side in good stead for the upcoming Championship season.
One source of discomfort for the club's supporters was the fact that there were not many English players or those with Championship experience. The manager had this to say on the issue:
He also had this to say on his aims for the new season:The season starts with a visit to Bloomfield Road to play Blackpool. Whatever happens this should be an interesting season for Ipswich fans.

    Opening Day Win for Minstermen!
York City may have only just been promoted into Division Four of the EC231990, but they made an immediate impression by defeating AFC Wimbledon comfortably, by a scoreline of three to none. Playing in front of a home crowd of just 3,778 York sent a message to the inhabitants of the city- and the rest of the league- that they are to be watched this season.
New look York City, under the guidance of new manager Tombstone, showed their class in front of goal, with three excellent goals without reply from AFC Wimbledon. New signings Marvin Chavez and Alan Gordon, both previously playing from current MLS leaders San Jose Earthquakes scored on their league debut for City, with Chavez finding the net twice.

Alan Gordon in action for the San Jose Earthquakes.
All three of York's goals came in the first half, with Gordon scoring first in the twenty-fifth minute. Another new signing, Andy Rose, formerly of the Seattle Sounders providing the through ball that allowed Gordon to take an early shot that sailed over the goalkeeper and into the net. York did not relinquish the pressure however, and just three minutes later another signing in the form of Northern Irishman Jonny Steele providing a low cross from a corner that Chavez buried from the edge of the box. Steele was booked for a challenge on Lucas Ocampos after thirty six minutes of play.

Marvin Chavez (Left) in action for old club San Jose Earthquakes
In the forty second minute, Alan Gordon was fouled by Oliver Sorg as the German pulled back the American as he tried to get away near the corner flag. Steele took the resulting free-kick (Sorg was booked for his foul) which Chavez met strongly in the air to power the ball into the goal with his head, putting City three goals ahead and sealing the victory.
In the second half York played solidly, only allowing three shots on target which were all saved well by on-loan keeper Maxym Koval. York themselves pressed to a certain extent, Gordon again striking from close range only for Wimbledon's keeper Vasconcelos Gabriel to fumble the shot onto the post, then gratefully hang on the second time of asking. Gordon then turned provider, setting up centre back Simone Benedetti who curled a shot on goal, only for Gabriel to save.
York and Wimbledon both controlled the ball for the same amount of time, each team earning fifth percent possession. Wimbledon managed eight shots during the match, five of which had to be saved by Koval. City however only mustered five shots, but decisively all of these were on target, and of course three found the back of the net. On-loan defender Chris Smalling played excellently in defence, earning a nine out of ten in the official match ratings, but Chavez and Gordon earned perfect ratings to surpass Smalling's score. Chavez earned the Man of The Match award for his two goals.
York play Leyton Orient on Thursday night, and will obviously be hoping to continue as they left off tonight.

ASHBY LOOKING FORWARD TO LEAGUE OPENER

With just over 48 hours to go until the new Division 2 season kicks off, new Leicester City manager Jon Ashby has expressed his excitement ahead of the Foxes' opener away at Watford and his delight in managing his home town club.
"It's a fantastic opportunity for me", Ashby said in the pre-match press conference. "I grew up supporting this club and it belongs in the Premier League. The infrastructure is in place, the stadium is top notch and the training facilities really are state-of-the-art. You can't ask for much more at a football club, and for the owners to place their faith in me to get them to the promised land means a lot to me."

Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn, and his father Vichai, have provided the funds for the Foxes since their takeover from Milan Mandaric in the summer of 2010.

When questioned upon Leicester's first opponents, Watford, Ashby had this to say. "It's certainly a unique way to run a football club. As I understand it, the number of loans they have is into double figures. They've also strengthened their squad with a few permanent signings, Giovinco in particular. He's a top talent. I do wonder what the fans make of it though, as it could be said that the club is being treated as a training ground and just a learning experience for these players from Serie A."
One of the issues brought up by journalists is the huge player turnaround since Ashby joined the club. Since he joined a week ago, over 20 players have come in, most notably Robert Lewandowski from Borussia Dortmund and Lewis Holtby from Schalke. Only a few of Leicester's previous squad still remains, which is cause for concern for the fans. "I realise that it's a major upheaval for the club, but I believe we've bought well, and with hard work, effort and commitment, this team should be challenging for honours at the end of the season. The owners' goal is promotion, as is mine. They've backed me well in the transfer market and I hope to repay their faith in me with promotion."
Leicester City kick off at Vicarage Road against Watford at 8pm on Sunday 10th September.

Harman Names Captain For Coming Season.

Drogba at the baggies ground this morning.
Wayne Harman has named Didier Drogba as his captain for the coming season. Harman is a long term admirer of the former Chelsea frontman and was very pleased with his latest addition, confirmed at yesterday mornings confrence. " Didier is a big strong player that im sure can bring goals to the club, just like he has at every club he has ever played. He is a top player with vast experiance at playing at the top level and a player i feel will be key to our success. Harman is under no illusion that his club are in for a tough ride this season but is confident his team has enough quality to make an impact on the premier league. Harman went on, " Away to chelsea is about as tough a start as it gets, but there are no easy games in this division and the opposition will make no differance to our preperation. We will go out and try to take the game to Chelsea and try to come back to the hawthorns with the three points.
West Brom have been very busy in the transfer market so far with no fewer than 21 new signings. " We have managed to bring in some great young players like, Sakho , Eriksen, Schurrle, Yarmolenko, Willian, and our business in the market is still not finished, we expect to bring in at least 3 or 4 more new faces over the next few days." Asked weather 24 year old Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue was a baggies target Harman had this to say, " We have many targets, but yes i am a keen admirer of the frenchmen, and we are in advanced talks with toulouse over a possible switch. I am hoping he will be at the club in time for the seasons opener with Chelsea.

Christian says he is very pleased to join the baggies.
Harman went on to say " We know it is going to be a tough season, and first and foremost our target will be to stay in the division, but at the moment we are focused on the game at Chelsea tomorrow night. My players are excited and looking forward to the new season to begin. One thing i can guarantee our fans is that we will give 110% tomorrow night and will do what ever we can to get something out of the game.

Eller: Modric will lead the team
Jonny Eller, the manager of Sunderland, today named Luka Modric as the clubs captain. The Croatian international arrived at the Stadium of Light after a big move from champions of Spain, Real Madrid. The signing, who is a coup for the club looks to entertain the Black Cats' followers tomorrow when they face Liverpool.
Mr Eller, who has made a large number of signings in the pre-season, has made it clear what his intentions are to the club. An interview with a reporter from the Northern Echo suggests that Eller is opting for a safe and steady approach this season. He spoke of how the team needs to gell quickly and not get left behind.
Division 1 looks fearsome, and Eller will have his work cut out to mark Sunderland as a potential top 10 division 1 club. A lot of pressure will be given to Klaas Jan Huntelaar to provide the goals, whilst the new young guns, Lamela and Ganso, need to prove their worth. With an experienced backline in the name of Barzagli, Aogo and Lugano, Sunderland should prove a test to some expectant Division 1 teams.

Alan Hansen: Spurs will win Division 1
15 new players arrive at club
Messi and Iniesta to lead the attack
The greatest player in the world Lionel Messi was Spurs's marquee signing
Leading BBC football pundit Alan Hansen has predicted that Tottenham Hotspur will win the Division1 title this season. After the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas, new manager Daniel Hart has been instrumental in completely revamping the squad from top to bottom. He has brought in some of the hottest names in world football today.
"The manager's credentials are undeniable", said Hansen " But the shear quality of Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Karim Benzima mean they will have the most potent attack in the league. I'm sure they can wrestle the title from the Manchester clubs."
Spurs also managed to sign players deemed to be the future stars of world football including, Marco Rues, Iker Muniain and Lars Bender.
To make way for the new signings, an exodus deemed by Hart to "not be of the quality that we need to move forward", included Clint Dempsey, Michael Dawson and Scott Parker.
Mention was however made of Welsh winger Gareth Bale who left to join Barcelona. "Sacrifices needed to me made", said Hart. " We would have loved to keep hold of the lad, and I thought we were going to up to the last few hours of the transfer window closing. But to finance our signings, we could not refuse the offer Barca made". It is understood that Tottenham were offered a reduced price for European player of the year Iniesta if Bale was included in the deal.

    Manchster United Appoint Robinson

A new man has been installed at Old Trafford to take over from legendary manager, Sir Alex Ferguson. Robinson takes over the side with the task of reclaiming the Premiership title from rivals Manchester City.

Robinson is a real admirer of the squad left to him, however new faces are likely to arrive at the Theatre of Dreams. Many feel United lack in midfield and this is an area Robinson is likely to strengthen throughtout the season.

Since taking over, Manchester United have struck a partnership with York City, and part of this deal has seen the talented English midfielder Nick Powell move to York for just £20,000. However a clause in the deal means United can re-sign Powell later on in his career at chairman value price. Other faces have left United with Macheda,
    Keane and Henriquez leaving already.

    Gone for now: Nick Powell

The main faces of the squad will be staying though. Wayne Rooney, Robin Van Persie and Nemanja Vidic have been assured that they will never leave the club with Robinson in charge. Robinson is also an admirer of Ecuadorian winger Antonio Valencia, further suggesting he will not leave the side.

The most telling is that no comment was made about Nani, could this be the end of his Manchester United career? With many names and faces linked to United, only time will tell.

End of the line? : Luis Nani
