  3. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Manchester City are looking for a new goalkeeper. Willing to use Baumann + another plus cash for the right keeper. Just drop us a message
  4. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Another defeat for City as we go down 2-1 away at Preston. Very very disappointing start to the season. Tweaked with tactics but nothing is working at the minute. absolute shocking with the squad i have. My night was compounded with the news that Luke Shaw is sidelined for the next 3 weeks with a groin injury. One more match to go before we welcome Messi back into the fold.
  5. Re: English Championship 7046 Match Report/Tranfer Gossip Thread Ronaldo named new City captain Cristiano Ronaldo has been appointed captain of Manchester City following the sale of John Terry Manchester City have today confirmed Cristiano Ronaldo as their new captain. The appointment follows yesterdays sale of previous captain John Terry to Walsall. Ronaldo who will celebrate his 30th birthday next month has been a mainstay in the City side since being signed from Arsenal by manager Steve Thompson back in season 10 and after being appointed vice captain upon his arrival it seemed only natural to take on the role full time following the departure of John Terry to Walsall. Speaking about the news City boss Steve Thompson said ...... Ronaldo also spoke about his appointment as captain ......
  6. Re: English Championship 7046 Match Report/Tranfer Gossip Thread Thompson thanks departed Terry John Terry has left Manchester City to join fellow division 2 side Walsall Manchester City manager Steve Thompson has described now departed skipper John Terry as an "inspirational leader" when speaking to media following the 34 years olds move to Walsall. The Veteran defender made a total of 63 league appearances for City after making the move from Chelsea captaining the club to promotion back in season 10. The move to the Midlands has come as a shock to many after Terry started for City in their weekend win away at Ipswich but with Thompson looking to cut numbers within his squad it seems that Terry's advancing years were the main factor behind his departure. City boss Steve Thompson had this to say on the move .......
  7. Re: English Championship 7046 Match Report/Tranfer Gossip Thread Thompson bemoans poor start in season opener Manchester City captain John Terry started the game from the substitute's bench Division 2 title favorites Manchester City suffered a shock opening day defeat to manager Steve Thompson's former side Tranmere Rovers with the game finishing 2-1 at the Etihad stadium. The shock news pre match was the decision to leave club captain John Terry on out of the starting XI with highly rated Luke Shaw coming into the side at left back and French international Mamadou Sakho reverting to his favored center back position. New signing Etienne Capoue was included among the substitutes whilst Brazilian Givanildo Hulk took the place of the now departed Marounane Fellaini. City started the match poorly and found themselves behind with just 13 minutes gone courtesy of a header from German veteran striker Miroslav KLOSE 0-1. That gave the visitors a real sense of belief and it got even better just 5 minutes later when they made it 0-2 Gelson FERNANDES the scorer with a neat finish after making some space. Tranmere took the lead into half time mainly down to the heroics of both keepers but on 63 minutes City finally broke the resistance to make it 1-2 German international Thomas M√úLLER was the scorer firing home from long range. Many expected the home side to push on but in truth it never materialized and Tranmere were able to hold out relatively comfortably to take the 3 points back to the Wirrall. FULL TIME 1-2. A disappointed Steve Thompson gave his verdict post match......
  8. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread City go down 2-1 at home to Tranmere a side i always seem to struggle against no matter who i manage lol. Two quick fire strikes early in the first half did the damage. Not the started i wanted change the formation and this is the result. Must do better with this squad of players.
  9. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Hello guys It's certainly been a while since i was on the forum and i can only apologize unfortunately my Marriage broke down which has resulted in me moving out of my home and i am now living back with the mother lol It has taken a little while to get myself sorted again hence my lack of activity and me quitting a fair few set ups. I am not going to lie i did neglect City somewhat at the time but i am now in a position to start taking a more active role both with my squad and on the forum. It feels good to be back
  10. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Despite a raft of changes and having to play players out of position i do feel a little hard done by especially on our first half performance but Gillingham took their chances and we didn't. Back to the league which is our bread a butter and with our form flagging i need to get us back on track
  11. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread In other news Manchester City are in shield action tomorrow as we take on division 3 high-flyers Gillingham. Would be nice to have a little run in the cups but getting this league form sorted is paramount so once again plenty of changes to the team. Manchester City squad vs Gillingham O. Baumann B. Oviado L. Shaw R. Albiol S. Kjaer V. Moses JJ. Shelvey O. Ozyakup M. Alonso C. Wickham V. Aboubaker Subs: M. Debuchy P. Jones M. Sakho M. Fellaini T. Muller C. Ronaldo L. Messi
  12. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Fair play mate. Best team won but what a horrible night it was for us shocking result shocking performance and lose my two CM's for 4 weeks and 3 weeks in the same bloody match
  13. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Had another absolute shocker it's all going a bit Pete tong at the minute. Lost Di Maria and Witsel to bad injuries to compound the misery. Back to the drawing board i think.
  14. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Absolutely gobsmaked how i managed to lose this game from 3-0 up with the talent at my disposal. Wouldn't have minded if i had gone gung ho on the tactics just can't figure how i have lost from such a position. Well need to find that winning touch again hopefully at the weekend against Blackburn Rovers.
  15. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Manchester City will be looking to get back to winning ways in the league tonight as we make the short trip to Gigg Lane to take on Bury. Certainly a tough game a win for Bury will draw them level on points with us whilst a win for us could see us go back to the top of the table if Ipswich lose. Sakho misses the game through suspension so it's a call between Kjaer and Luke Shaw to replace to him. John Terry remains missing through injury although he is nearing a return realistic the Leeds game looks his best bet for a return.
  16. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Manchester progress to the 2nd round of the cup after eating Southampton 2-1 at St Mary's. Made 10 changes to the team with Baumann the only survivor. Vincent Aboubaker and Victor Moses score their first goals for the club. Our reward for the win is a tough looking home fixture against Sheffield United.
  17. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Disappointing performance and result. First defeat of the season but after five games i am happy that we are 2nd in the league. Hopefully we can push on and build another little run. Messi had a goal disallowed and Sakho was sent off all in all a poor night for us Well done to Wigan they were the better team and deserved the victory. Play Southampton in the cup Monday where i will be making wholesale changes.
  18. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread A great performance and result against the then league leaders. We have now replaced Ipswich at the top of the table. Messi now has 6 goals to his name whilst Di Maria has been a real stand out player so far. Hopeully we can keep this sort of form up. Next league game is against Wigan at the weekend.
  19. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread A decent point when you consider we was 2-0 down at one point but we had so many chances especially when Tranmere went down to 10 men. Keep up our unbeaten start to the season and we currently sit 2nd in the league with current league leaders Ipswich up next. Good game Ben.
  20. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Manchester City sign off their pre season programme with a 1-0 win over Dagenham courtesy of a goal from new signing Connor Wickham. Will be nice to get the real stuff going again tomorrow with a tough fixture against Brighton. Manchester City squad vs Brighton & Hove Albion O. Baumann M. Debuchy R. Albiol P. Jones S. Kjaer M. Sakho L. Shaw A. Witsel N. Muller G. Hulk V. Moses A. Di Maria M. Fellaini T. Muller L. Messi J. Hernandez C. Ronaldo C. Wickham
  21. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Gone with another experimental side tonight against managerless Dagenham & Redbridge. I go on holiday tomorrow so will be setting my teams by the app lol. Manchester City team vs Dagenham & Redbridge M. Koval L. Cavanda L. Shaw S. Kjaer P. Jones B. Oviedo R. Albiol A. Witsel O. Ozyakup V. Moses JJ. Shelvey N. Muller S. March M. Alonso V. Aboubaker J. Hernandez C. Wickham L. Messi
  22. Re: English Championship 7046 Match Report/Tranfer Gossip Thread City ready for Seagulls test SET FOR DEBUT - Mathieu Debuchy is set for his competitive debut Manchester city welcome Brighton to the Etihad stadium tomorrow in their first game back in division 2. Steve Thompson's men are aiming to make it two consecutive promotions but know they face a stern test of their credentials with Paul Smuts Brighton also harboring promotion aspirations. City fans are unlikely to see wholesale changes to the side but French international defender Mathiue Debuchy is likely to be handed his debut. Fellow new signings Raul Albiol and Javier Hernandez are more than likely going to have to settle for a place on the bench. Manchester City manager Steve Thompson spoke about the game earlier today.
  23. Re: English Championship 7046 Match Report/Tranfer Gossip Thread Terry could miss up to 10 matches STILL RECOVERING - Man City John Terry is set to miss up to 10 matches through injury Manchester City captain John Terry looks set to miss the first 10 matches of the season it has emerged. The 33 year old defender is currently suffering from Achilles Tendonitis which forced him to miss the final 8 games of the season and that injury continues to hamper the former England international and his clubs plans for the season ahead. Terry is regarded as a key figure at the Etihad since joining from his boyhood club Chelsea at the beginning of last season and was immediately named the new club captain by manager Steve Thompson. The absence of Terry at the heart of the defense has forced City into the transfer with the recent capture of Spanish center back Raul Albiol who signed from West Ham United. City manager Steve Thompson spoke about Terry following his sides friendly defeat at Leyton Orient last night.......
  24. Re: Npower League 1 and 2 Official Thread Preston had to settle for a disappointing draw against Notts County, certainly not the start we wanted although it could have been worse had Garner not scored in the 89th minute. County were one of the worst sides for gamesmanship i have seen or sometime going down every few minutes with head injuries. Roy Caroll the keeper decided the only time he wanted a drink was when he was meant to be taking a goal kick. They didn't come to play football but they got what they came for. To be air the game could have been over at half time, we had so many chances but again our clinical edge was missing hopefully that will come back with games. The midfield 3 of Kilkenny Browne and Brownhill played well first half but went missing in the 3nd after Notts took the lead. Garner was again a real handful winning most of his headers just a shame nobody was around him to profit. Two away games in the league now aswell as a carling cup tie at Rochdale. Hopeully when can get another striker in that time.
  25. Re: English Championship 7046 Match Report/Tranfer Gossip Thread Thompson happy with home start HOME COMFORTS - City manager Steve Thompson is happy to start his division 2 campaign at home Today is the day that all football managers and fans look forward to with the release of the new season fixtures and Manchester City have been handed a tough first game back in division 2 as they will welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to the Etihad stadium. The Seagulls were one of the surprise packages in the division last season managing to reach the play offs in 6th place but bowed out to eventual winners Huddersfield Town. The seagulls are managed by Paul Smut who has been an instant success at the Amex Stadium guiding the club to the division 3 title in season 9 and following that with a play off place in division 2 in season 10. Smut will take his men to the Etihad with no fear having boasted one of the best away records in the division last season losing just 4 times and conceding 24 goals on the road only champions Swindon conceded less on their travels. Upon hearing the news of his first game of the new season Thompson said....
