  3. Re: Rags To Riches III - Re-emergence of the minnows "Record crowd watches Grimsby Town. 6,732 fans turned out to watch Grimsby Town against Lincoln City breaking the previous home record attendance." A game of much promise but little fruit. Grimsby keeps setting the pace at the top and seems to have achieved the goal of reaching at least a play-off spot. With 9 points still in play Grimsby now needs 2 points to achieve automatic promotion and 4 points to be crowned Div. 5 Champions. Bearing in mind Wrexham and Woking still have to play each other (Go Laura / Sorry Pedro!... ) and many of the play-off hopefuls also still play each other at least once... We have a good chance! But we still need to go out and try to beat Gateshead, Kidderminster and Torquay.
  4. Re: From Rags To Riches II - The World Club Version. Another jolly good walloping for the collection. No matter what we try with the massive difference in average team ratings between us and the top of the table (where United Africa Tiger deservedly sit) teams it will always be tremendously hard to put up a decent run. And this means we need to keep improving our squad, but in a responsible manner. This week new forward Jonathan Rodriguez arrived from Benfica in anticipation of "Golden Boy" Andreas Vilches returning to his hometown club Huachipato after growing as a player at Central. We wish both Jonathan and Andreas all the luck and that they keep scoring!
  5. Re: Viviendo El Sueño A very insipid draw courtesy of a good performance by Seattle's keeper Steve Mandanda. Bologna struggling to keep up with the pace of the frontrunners in Div. 1 so far. Hopefully we haven't fallen too far behind and can still aspire to catch up.
  6. Re: Viviendo El Sueño Five players in our starting 11 were rated 76 or less. How do we go and win this game? Did Boca players run a marathon before the game? I keep trying to lose these cup matches on purpose in order to save the team for the league games. But no luck...
  7. Re: The Basement Version II - The Returning. Back to winning ways in a comfortable day out at Sao Paulo. Team still not at maximum strength but slowly getting there. Despite being kicked all over the park, Jonas gave a MoM performance, alongside Potuk and Moussa Sow. On the other side, GK De Sanctis was instrumental in preventing or thwarting many Fener goal chances. One game (last of the season for us) to find out if we gain promotion. We will be playing Allan's Lille OSC, who in the past 6 games between these two teams, won 4, drew 1 and lost only once. Tough times!
  8. Re: The Basement Version II - The Returning. Taking advice from me = sure way to disaster...
  9. Re: Viviendo El Sueño And there goes my perfect record... Unquestionable Rangers win. We were completely outplayed. Move along now, nothing to see here...
  10. Re: Rags To Riches III - Re-emergence of the minnows I had this sneaky suspicion this would be a really dicey game and I was not wrong. We countered Dover's possession game with more clear-cut chances and in the end it was one-apiece, no one going home quite happy. We keep hold of top spot for another 3 days at least, so can't complain too much.
  11. Re: From Rags To Riches II - The World Club Version. Another frustrating week ending in defeat. Yet it was to the main title contender so I can't really complain, especially since Central's players gave their everything and may have caused one or two shivers down Pedro's spine hehe! C'mon the next match!
  12. Re: The Basement Version II - The Returning. The perfect hangover match. Not a trouncing, no climb down on the table, all in all a good day to lose and to give a few kids a chance.
  13. Re: Viviendo El Sueño This was a very fortunate game for us. We had the lucky star shining and smiling down on us as Corinthians had more possession and shots on goal. New boy João Moutinho, replacing Pirlo (who needed a rest) got himself sent off after a second yellow card for a foul on Fernando, and to make things even more difficult Zlatan goes and gets himself injured. Fortunately not before laying a beautiful assistance to Alvaro Dominguez who scored the only goal of the game.
  14. Re: Rags To Riches III - Re-emergence of the minnows Back to winning ways and a solid performance all round. Unfortunate news for our most recent recruit who got himself injured - read got hacked down and kicked around throughout the match - and will be out for almost two weeks... 6 games to go and between us and 4th placed Wrexham there are only 5 points difference so all pretty much open as 2 bad results can bring us below 4th. Next match against early days favourites Dover Athletic will be tough and may prove crucial as most teams on the top will be facing mid-table opposition, except for one game we will be keeping one eye on: Lincoln's visit to Woking.

  16. Re: From Rags To Riches II - The World Club Version. Losing streak continues as we keep facing much stronger opposition. This time however we made it a bit more difficult and only poor finishing skills and a good Bogotá GK let us down. So... we keep to mid table and back on Sunday for another uphill struggle, this time against CD Fas...
  17. Re: From Rags To Riches II - The World Club Version. Great to know! Keep practicing in the mirror.

  22. Re: From Rags To Riches II - The World Club Version. By the way, where's everyone? Of the last 6 posts 5 are mine. Feeling lonely here guys...
  23. Re: From Rags To Riches II - The World Club Version. Another pasting, this time Dhofar obligingly making the honours... What a nightmare week we've had. Obviously we are playing teams with an average rating difference of +5 or +6 so not completely surprised. Yet I reckon we can do better, and we will try to.
  24. Re: Rags To Riches III - Re-emergence of the minnows Visiting Forest Green Rovers tried to mess up Grimsby's chances of remaining 5 points ahead of the "Peloton". Thanks to GK Nicola Leali (MoM) we managed to hang on to a 0-0 draw. Hanging in there...
  25. Re: Viviendo El Sueño Good start to the campaign for Bologna despite the slim result. Early days of the new season and looking for reinforcements...
