  3. Re: The Basement Version II - The Returning.:eek::eek: Well, that went somewhat better than expected...
  4. Re: Rags To Riches III - Re-emergence of the minnows A strong performance against Farsley keeps us in the lead and increasing the gap over the closest rivals. Coming up a trip to Forest Green Rovers and the lead goal scorer Marvin Ducksch.
  5. Re: From Rags To Riches II - The World Club Version. This was the heaviest defeat I have ever suffered in this setup. Puerto Montt are a much better team then us but we should have posed them more problems.

  7. Re: From Rags To Riches II - The World Club Version. This game was an uphill battle of epic proportions. Central was on the back foot for close to 60 minutes but the final result does not show how many chances were squandered. Halftime substitution Maloku was instrumental in making the team more aggressive and was voted Man of the Match. Other four players got rated 10 for their performances - Silva, Pisano, Amartey and Jovanovic.
  8. Re: Rags To Riches III - Re-emergence of the minnows Grimbsby picking up the pace again with a comfortable win against Eastleigh. Chaoseng Yang with a goal and an assist was the main threat and deserved the MoM award. Next a trip to Farsley AFC, possibly with new star player bossing midfield, taking over from Matt Steenvoorden who returned home to Feyenoord.
  9. Re: The Basement Version II - The Returning. A slim result from a match we pretty much dominated. A transitional period to the first 11 with many departures and three new important additions to the fold: GK Jan Oblak from Atletico Madrid and defenders Ivan Marcano from FC Porto and Tony Jantschke from Borussia Monchengladbach.
  10. Re: The Basement Version II - The Returning. Well, it happens. I need to learn how to ride them buses without paying!
  11. Re: Viviendo El Sueño The match was very tense due to the stakes involved. To each attack by Bologna, Spurs responded in kind but throughout the game the 'rossoblu' had more control of the ball with Spurs looking to counter. The winning strike came late, courtesy of the unlikely hero Nani who, after seeing his friend Zlatan carried off on a stretcher due to a bad tackle by Eriksen, decided to step up and having received a superb pass from Hulk, shot to score. This result crowns the massive comeback by Bologna after struggling in the first half of the season. Hopefully the team will develop further and challenge for Div. 1 Title next season.
  12. Re: Viviendo El Sueño BOLOGNA PROMOTED TO DIVISION 1 !!! In what can only be described as a devastating final run with 2 draws and 5 wins Bologna climbed up to clinch promotion to Div. 1 overtaking favourites Tottenham Hotspurs. Manager hmocc was carried on players shoulders for a lap of honour around the pitch while swearing profusely and drinking a 'secret' energy drink from a bottle wrapped in brown paper...
  13. Re: The Basement Version II - The Returning. Very disappointed with the result on a game we should at least have got a draw for our effort. Maybe with some players already thinking of their new clubs we weren't as tight or ruthless in front of goal as we should have been. Oh well!
  14. Re: Rags To Riches III - Re-emergence of the minnows What a washout! This was worst than the Ice Bucket challenge. We were outplayed by a well reinforced Worcester City but despite what the result looks like, throughout the match things were tighter. This was the end of a lovely run. Can we pick up next game or with most people dipping into the transfer market, as tb's seem to be up, will we struggle for points against stronger teams?
  15. Re: From Rags To Riches II - The World Club Version. Back to normal tactics-wise, back to expected results. The game was very one sided and we could (should) have scored more goals. It's not like we are going to set this division on fire now and until our players really start to grow up (ratings-wise) we will keep the mid table anonymity as given expectation. Here are the game's stats:
  16. Re: The Basement Version II - The Returning. First defeat and in front of the fans at home Great game though with SP dominating much of the proceedings and us having to come back from the (almost) dead to try grab at least a draw. Didn't happen. In the meanwhile we have pre-agreed over 60M on sales that we need to plow back into the team. 1 Keeper and 2 world class defenders are needed to tank that leaky defence...
  17. Re: Viviendo El Sueño We'll give you food for thought if we get to Div 1. First we need to overtake those pesky "Spurs". Great end of regular season for Bologna who secured a playoff spot and will play Tottenham for the 2nd promotion slot. Last match between us and Spurs ended on a juicy 3-3 draw. What will happen on Monday is anyone's guess but we surely will go for it! Against Boca things were more or less straightforward:
  18. Re: Rags To Riches III - Re-emergence of the minnows Grimsby still on a roll - 7th consecutive win - and at the moment other teams seem to be losing steam. Great to see young Yang keep on scoring (sad to see him booked for the 5th time...) but the few new additions to the squad - Vadalá, Gerson and Sanchez - should keep the momentum going.
  19. Re: From Rags To Riches II - The World Club Version. All good intentions laid waste by a single goal (could have been more mind...) and our team shackled by the opposition. We could and should have done better and the responsibility is all mine as I changed tactics to try and surprise Wrexham and the surprise was on me.
  20. Re: The Basement Version II - The Returning. Second win on the trot before the big clearout. Hopefully Diego Ribas and Moussa Sow will come back soon from their respective injuries to help shore up the team and continue to help it build momentum.
  21. Re: Viviendo El Sueño A late surge and we're in with a chance of promotion. That's what's great about these short setups. But let's not count our chickens right now. Keep focused and maybe, just maybe...
  22. Re: Rags To Riches III - Re-emergence of the minnows Devastating first half from us with 3 goals in less than half an hour 4 goals in less than 10 minutes. Great run of form and gaining momentum to consolidate title aspirations on a really competitive setup. Very happy with my team right now!
  23. Re: From Rags To Riches II - The World Club Version. Good assessment. I believe it's possibly one of the most tight games I ever played with no team conceding a 1/4 of an inch to the other.
  24. Re: Viviendo El Sueño Speaking of weird, just won this game in the dying minutes after having spent almost the entire 90 minutes watching wave after wave of attacks from Roma assailing my poor defenders... So much so Alex Song will have to be rested for the next game poor fella. Ibra and Hulk are proving to be a lethal partnership!
