  1. Re: English Championship 7777 - Discussion Thread Apologies to the people that messaged me on SM about a job offer i had received, i have been away for a bit over a week and was unable to access SM to know i had been given the offer and to reject them early for one of the people who messaged me, hopefully you are able to join the GW in the near future.
  2. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Hi Everyone, Just wondering is there still a waiting list to sign up to for this GW. I took quite a few months away from SM after a number of my teams were deleted by a friend one of them included Doncaster Rovers in 7046 (managed for over a year i think) and after picking up some random teams from other GWs and getting a couple back from others i lost the love for SM but in the last week or so ive been active near enough every day and have re found the love for the game. So if its possible would love to be on the waiting list for a side in here again.
  3. Re: English Championship 7777 - Discussion Thread Been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for results since taking control of Burton again not too long ago. Unlike in my previous spell i have had real trouble getting the 4-2-3-1 too work causing losses in my previous 2 games (before last nights result) so tested out a few different tactics and find that 5 across midfield is serving me well compared to other formations. Considering the side only had 1 win and 2 draws in 22 league games before i joined i am happy to have won more than i have lost Played - 11 Won - 5 Drawn - 2 Lost - 4 That is the record after scraping a 1-0 win over a 9 man side (certainly made a struggle of it but most importantly finally caught up with the lower league sides in the table. With 13 games left i will be hoping we push on now and hopefully finish around 17-20th in the table which would prove to be a good turnaround. On a final note i have to give big credit to Will Trafford at Chelsea, i was there manager for only a few weeks before my mate deleted them but for Chelsea its the best thing that could have happened, he has managed to do 2 things i couldnt; 1 - Get consistent results with them 2 - Rebuild the squad which is something i just couldn't do due to the amount of high rated players previously in the team. So major respect for the job he has done this season and hopefully they can keep it up and get back into division 1 for the new season coming up.
  4. Re: English Championship 7777 - Discussion Thread Just been looking through the player market to see whats going on as i have rejoined Burton Albion after the last manager left. As i was going through i was checking certain players to get an idea of the transfer listed price when i clicked on a player i had bought before with Burton so thought why not have a look at his price range. As i clicked on it i suddenly said to myself "erm ....... erm ......... :O" Genuinely speechless and not sure what to make of this for many reasons. Not sure if it has been mentioned on here before or not but that bid makes absolutely no sense to me at all lol
  5. Re: English Championship 7777 - Discussion Thread Brentford 0 - 3 Chesterfield 3-0 win over in form Brentford pushes us back into the play off positions. Jonathan Viera made his debut and capped it off with a goal and the MOTM performance. I was delighted to sign Viera, i am not fully sure on how he did for Vallecano on loan this season just finished but i remember watching him in pre season for Valencia against Everton and in the first half he looked a class above so i am hoping he continues to live up to his potential.
  6. Re: |English Championship 30000|Discussions/MRs Thread Hi everyone, I have taken the Chester job that i saw had become available earlier, i apologize if there was a waiting list but after checking through a few forum GWs for a few days i had just noticed the club free here so took control. I love lower division challenges so i have a good track record for sticking around. Unfortunately not long ago it did look like i left a few forum GWs but that had nothing to do with me and involved a drunk friend with a knowledge of SM and my password which is always a bad combo. This Chester job is going to be a real challenge, the squad sucks to be quite honest and nearly 1 million in debt so going to take a few months until it is up to a standard of competing for anything of note but its something i relish and in the past my favourite teams have involved Burton Albion in 7777 and Cambridge United in 26335 so it is something i am looking forward to getting my hands in to and finding some cheap unknown bargains again
  7. Re: English Championship 7777 - Discussion Thread pretty much the same' date=' with the england game on completely lost track of what day it was this week and then realised at 8.15 that it was too late luckily for me though we managed to win so it didnt turn out badly after all. ------------------------------ [img']http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/attachments/football-manager-2010-club-competition-logos/104520-new-logo-chesterfield-634.png[/img] Been happy with my start to life with Chesterfield, dissapointing result in the cup the other night in which i didnt fully do my homework and just based a set up on the teams previous fixture so that was my own fault but in all honesty the less games the better for squad and financial management. Had quite an overhaul of the squad since taking over and a league record of 3 wins, 3 draws, 2 defeats so not all bad. Hopefully over the season can kick on now and push for the play off position come the end of the season. Probably my only regret so far has been the sale of Zarate, at the time i was fine with him leaving as his career in Argentina was only going to stagnate with little improvement in terms of SM and then BAM couple of days later linked with west ham and looking like its a deal done so im hoping and praying he fails miserably on his return to england ----------------------------- On a side note seeing that result the other night to burton hurts me deep down. Loved my time with Burton so to see a result like that just brings a tear to my eye.
  8. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Hi everyone, Similar to what i posted earlier in the 7777 chat, i am unfortunately no longer in this GW out of no choice of my own, so if a team becomes available i would love the chance to rejoin the GW. If you wish to find out the reason behind me no longer being in charge of Doncaster click the link below to what caused me to no longer having any teams when i logged on earlier today; http://forum.soccermanager.com/showpost.php?p=2908688&postcount=30891
  9. Re: English Championship 7777 - Discussion Thread Don't worry about it man, these things happen and serves me right for leaving my laptop with my mate Luckily i logged on at a good time as Marcos had a division 4 side on offer so i snapped it up instantly and i am just glad to still be in the set up, i will admit myself with being away a few times and not being on much i was neglecting the chelsea job from the minute i took over so i am just glad that despite what happened its gone to a good and respected manager. I intend to be move active again now and have renewed my gold membership as when it comes to money if it involves an investment that means i am invested in putting the time in One thing i will say though and i hope no one gets bad feelings towards me but if the burton albion manager does eventually leave my old team, i would be looking to take that job as its one of the most fun teams i have had in any GW i have been in and found it difficult at the time to leave them for Chelsea.
  10. Re: English Championship 7777 - Discussion Thread Hi lads, I have been away for a week and after just logging back on today i have found out that a friend of mine thought it would be "funny" to deactivate my account which had saved my details on the log in page . Turns out he was to drunk to remember how to deactivate the account (he used to be a member himself) so went for the next best thing and deleted all the remaining clubs i had on SM. Although i hadn't enjoyed SM for a couple of months i had no intention of leaving the gameworld that i had been in for almost 2 years and was planning on a rebuild for the chelsea side i had. If a job becomes available again could someone please let me know as i would love to jump back in to the GW and am happy to be in a bottom division side again like i was with Burton.
  11. Re: English Championship 7777 - Discussion Thread Been a while since i posted on the forums, put up a message a week or so ago about transfers after this season has ended and other things. Despite being away for a little while ive managed to get Chelsea into a play off spot against Southampton, it should be a good match and depending on how the next game/games go may decide how many of my current players i keep because keeping the likes of ronaldo, iniesta, ramos etc... on the wage bill for another season in division 2 just wouldnt be possible (already 28 million in debt) Have to say though even though i can't really talk due to my absence for a good month or so i am really dissapointed to see that the Burton side i had is just getting beat left right and centre, 37 goals conceded in an 8 game losing streak :(
  12. Re: English Championship 7777 - Discussion Thread Benzema brace seals first win for McColl Chelsea 2 - 1 Aston Villa A 2-1 win ended a 3 match losing run and helped McColl to a win at the first attempt since moving from Burton Albion. Chelsea went 1-0 behind early on but 2 goals from Karim Benzema and 2 assists from Cristiano Ronaldo ensured a home win in McColls first game in charge. Although the performance noted good possession for Chelsea there will be a debate over the amount of chances the opponent had to equalise including an effort which was given as offside. McColl had this to say after the game;
  13. Re: English Championship 7777 - Discussion Thread I have decided to accept the job offer from Chelsea and moved from Burton Albion. It was a tough decision because you become attached to the side you have so i didn't want to leave Burton however the Chelsea job is too big to turn down. The players they have are more than capable of being in Division 1 and arguably should never have ended up in Division 2, so i hope i will be able to help get promoted back to the top Division. Transfer wise i want to keep the players together for now until i can get a feel for how we are doing in the league. I sort of have an idea who i would be prepared to allow leave in some deals but want to give them a chance first. Finally i hope someone good gets Burton Albion and can help them push on further, i have left them with an ok squad (more suited to me than whoever takes over i would imagine) and a bit of money left in the pot for a transfer or 2.
  14. Re: English Championship 7777 - Discussion Thread If there was a self destruct button available i think its already been pressed by the blackpool manager. If he is being truthful and reported a fair amount of transfers just because his transfer was reversed i can see a number of those managers leaving as its just a childish and petty thing to do. The nearest equivelent is when you were young and had a tantrum then stormed off with the ball so no one else can play. I think what makes it worse is that its caused by a known and respected forumer who is acting like a child, which makes it more baffling considering a quick look on his SM profile shows he was born in 1989 so should know to not have a childish paddy by now. I don't think it will cause the end of 7777 because it is such a popular GW but if the blackpool manager continues to report deals out of spite i would rather see him leave than lose say 5-10 other managers but thats just my opinion
  15. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread 2-1 win over Millwall keeps up our good run of form and helping us move up the table. Think i need to have a word with my players though, the amount of 'abuse' they give the ref in the matches the club would be getting regular fines from the FA
