was looking at my journey with colchester and starting delving into others journey. Some were really fascinating as i scrolled through history's pages and as only 10 games left in season 4 some of them are really shaping well.
    (no offence to any manager)
1)great duo of shrewsbury and brighton are fighting for promtion to division 1 when at the beginning of season 1 they were in division 4. although on most occasion shrews have been a step ahead of brighton lets see who gets to top of the ladder first, or will they again go hand in hand to div 1.
    2) another Div 4 team who was in a mess during season 1 was dagenham. they finished second last in div4 in their first season, but since then they have achieved back to back promotion like the above mentioned div 4 teams. though this season they pushing was the impossible, or should i say improbable, but i think they have fallen short this season.
    3) Hartlepool commenced their journey with the great duo but had some catching up to do when they missed the playoff spot in season 2 from div3.
but the next season they made their way into div 2. they have a fight on their hands to survive this season in division 2.
    4) another great journey has been of stoke city ,though a not very proud one but entertaining. Season 1 they were among the div 1 teams but by the beginning of season 3 they were in division 3. an unmatched downward spiral indeed.
    5) Exeter city are going through another interesting journey. In season 2 they got demoted to division 4 the very next season they bounced back to div 3 again and are now looking towards achieving back to back promotion like their predecessors from div4.
    6) crystal palace started at div2 but were demoted to div3 in the first season. next season they bounced back into div 2 again and following season they again got promoted to div 1. this season they struggling for their survival in div1.

Swansea City A.F.C Hall of Fame

    Arouna Kone
    Season 1, Turn 8 - Turn 27
    Total Apps: 24 (0)
    Total Goals: 15
    Total Assists: 14
    Average Perfomance: 8.00

Arouna Kone caught fire after joining Swansea for a bargain fee of just £4,000,000. He turned around their bad form and pushed Swansea into a play-off position with 15 league goals. He attracted interest from MK Dons, Tottenham, West Brom & Fulham. But in the end Fulham controversially spent £8,200,000 to sign Kone as they hoped for the same sort of form from the Ivory Coast International forward. That never really happened though, as he fell out of favour and soon found himself playing abroad. He came to English football with Bristol City, and soon found himself once again out on loan at Swansea where he managed to recapture his form before returning to Ashton Gate to help them to survival on the final day.
Other Clubs: Fulham, Bristol City (L), Bristol City

    Ilan
    Season 1, Turn 20 - Turn 38
    Total Apps: 15 (3)
    Total Goals: 8
    Total Assists: 4
    Average Perfomance: 7.98

Ilan joined as possibly the bargain of the entire history of 5579. Joining as a free agent for £3,200,000 he hit form immeadiatly, breaking into the first team against the odds and his league form helped Swansea into the play-offs. He was the winner of Swansea's Season 1 Player of the Season, aswell as Season 1 Division 2 Player of the Season as the two main awards of the five he picked up at the Setups awards night, aswell as Swansea's Official Awards night. Ilan then moved on from the club though, at the end of the season as Swansea looked for promotion, in a swap deal which saw Eidur Gudjohnsen join the club.
    Other Clubs: None

    Eidur Gudjohnsen
    Season 1, Turn 38 - Season 3, Turn 8
    Total Apps: 36 (2)
    Total Goals: 9
    Total Assists: 4
    Average Perfomance: 7.16

Eidur Gudjohnsen had big boots to fill when he joined Swansea, being brought into replace Ilan who'd done so well previously for Swansea. He played during hard times at Swansea, as they almost got relegated in Season 2 but nethertheless he got plenty of goals as one of the key players in the side. He was the top goalscorer at Swansea with 2 goals in 6 games at the start of the new season, but Swansea opted to bring Moussa Dembele into the club in place of Eidur Gudjohnsen ending his time at Swansea where he had done very well.
    Other Clubs: None

    Gabriel Agbonlahor
    Season 1, Turn 27 - Season 4, Turn 1
    Total Apps: 71 (4)
    Total Goals: 21
    Total Assists: 22
    Average Perfomance: 7.15

Gabriel Agbonlahor is up there with the greatest of the Hall of Famers. Agbonlahor arrived as the replacement of Arouna Kone and didn't dissapoint, he went onto be at one time both the Swansea player with the most goals ever and the most appearances and whilst both these records went away from him he was still a player that wont be forgotten anytime soon as player in the folklore at Swansea City. Eventually leaving the club in a deal to bring Rafael Da Silva to Swansea as they looked to add more strength to the defence, he went onto play for Norwich City where he'll look to try and make a similar sort of impact.
Other Clubs: Aston Villa, Norwich City

    The EC5579 Guide To English
Basically I am bored so decided to lay out the Slang dictionary for use in 5579.
It’s in no particular order, feel free to add your own suggestions and please – nobody take offence from what is intended as purely a bit of fun.
    BOB – “Bit Of Business”
For use when describing a deal made primarily to make money
    i.e.
“I bought “x” £1.9m and have just sold him for £3.2m – excellent BOB.”
Can also be used to deride any numpty that buys a player one day and he retires the next i.e.
“I bought Sanchez for £6.2m and he’s jack it in – I’m only gonna get 5 games out of him before he retires – what an awful BOB.”
(this may or may not have happened to me in the Four Regions)
    Pull a Higgy
The description used for a pointless change of name or identity within the Forum.
    i.e
“Im not called Andrew anymore, I’ve pulled a higgy – I’m called StudMuffin3000 now”
Can also be used to describe a forummer who mixes up other forummers
    i.e.
“didn’t you say Sanchez was a bad BOB yesterday?”
    “No, that was StudMuffin3000”
“oh, sorry I pulled a higgy there”
    Lenny Eleven
The practice of buying cheap but highly rated older players – or Lenny’s.
    i.e
“My average team rating is 91 now”
“yeah but there all aged over 35 – your first teams a lenny eleven”
    SJ Fever
The art of multiple, unnecessary or mass volume posting
    i.e.
    “I just sneezed”
    “I just sneezed again”
“thought I was going to sneeze again but I didn’t”
“That’s another four posts for me, count is up to 767493 posts and my rep goes up to 354 – I got SJ Fever right now!”
    “Just sneezed again”
    More to follow hopefully

Everyone should know about the useful and helpful 'Help with Deals Thread' which is stickied in Player Assistance. This is designed to be a guide so you can tell for yourself whether you are getting a good, fair or bad deal. If you're still unsure then of course post in the aforementioned thread
I'm not sure how to organise this with regards to buying, selling and all the aspects that fit in with making a deal so I'll highlight all the points to look for in a deal and leave it to you to work out how it applies to your situation.
    Cash

Cash is involved in the majority of deals on SM. It could be the entirety of the payment or a sweetener in a P/E offer. How useful is cash in your set-up? Establish whether there is any point in getting cash. It's good to have if there are a lot of good players at external or unmanaged sides (particularly in very new or very old set-ups) or if managers are willing to let players go in straight cash deals. Also assess your current budget. There's no point selling a player for 40m if you've already got 100m in the kitty.
    Player Rating

This applies to both P/E and cash deals. Check the rating predictions and future prospects of all players involved in the deal. In most cases you won't have to ask, just use the search tool on the relevant ratings prediction thread. To spell it out, obviously risers are preferred to stayers who are preferred to droppers. Check out the average rating of your first team with and without the deal in the present, 1 year down the line and 2 years down the line. If it's better with the deal then do it, worse then don't.
    Player Age

I think on the whole people place too much stock in the age of a player. Of course it's nice to get the best young talent however think about how long you will be playing the game for. Sticking with a team for the long run generally means around 2 years so that 16 year old wonder-kid will be 18 and probably still looking for a big move to either fulfil his potential or crash and burn. Often a safe mid-20s player already at a big club is a safer option.
    Player Position

This is a key part of any deal. The first thing to think about is if you really need the player you're trying to buy and can you afford to give up what the other manager wants. Will he push strong first team players onto the bench or will he himself just be a bench warmer? In a straight cash deal for your player do you have a quality replacement for that player or can you buy one with the generated funds? Player position applies more in P/E deals though. If you are giving 2 players do you have the strength in depth to cover those you are losing effectively or would you need to have a potentially dangerous formation change? If you are getting 2 players do you need them? If they're just going to languish in your reserves then you may as well keep that first team player you're giving away.
    Player Standing

Something to consider, mainly when offering players in deals, is where they stand in your squad. Is it possible to get rid of a high rated player or 2 that you hardly use? Also look at the player/s you're bringing in and look at their potential standing in your squad. This section is similar to Player Position above but doesn't take possible formations into account.
    Depth

This mainly applies to Gold Championships where there are many more games in a season. Often the above advice for player ratings doesn't apply and you will have to take 2 lower rated players for a high one. Try and make sure the players you are receiving are at least safe at their current ratings and if possible fob off the higher rated droppers in your side.
    Rivalries

Not as important as the other criteria but still worth a mention. Do you really want to sell your major rivals your best player? If the team making the offer is close to you in the table it might also be worth checking how the deal alters their first team average. If it's increasing theirs by more than the deal is increasing yours then they could be gaining an advantage in the crucial title or relegation battle. Also check out Player Position. If your rival is craving an improvement in a specific area don't be the one to give him one unless you''re getting a very good deal in exchange.
The Difference between Managed and Unmanaged/External
A nice little bit of advice from Blenkers here hopefully only relevant to the newer members of SM. Whereas unmanaged and external sides will accept the minimum value given for their players (except some players from external SMFA sides), managed sides are very unlikely to accept bottom dollar for their players (especially the higher rated ones). In order to prise the big guns away you need to make an offer which could tempt the other manager into selling.
How to Deal with Managed Sides
Highlighted above is the difference between managed and unmanaged/external and obviously the former is a lot harder to deal with. The best bet is to first test the water with a low opening bid (using the criteria above). Best case you get a cheap player and worst you get told it's insulting, which it probably is. To offer a fair amount think about what you would accept if the deal were in reverse. If the other manager needs depth then offer him depth, good starting players then a high rated 2 for 1 deal. Read and get advice on the 'Help with Deals Thread' a lot so you can get a good judge on acceptable deals.
    Who to go for
Little bit of advice on players to aim for if you have a lot of unnecessary cash to shift. Best bet is external or unmanaged as they always accept minimum value for their players (maybe slightly more for the top players of SMFA sides). If there aren't many at external/unmanaged then a useful tip is to buy from clubs with a lot of players in a particular position. Say, for example, a team has three 90+ DMs and only play with one DM then they may be open to selling an unused player for cash.
    2 for 1 Ratings Advice
In the main body I advised you check out your sides average rating at different time points. I realise this may be difficult to do quickly and a bit of a hassle so I thought I'd give a quick generic guide. Usually, assuming all players are safe (neither rising, dropping and of similar age and talent) then a deal of 2 players of a rating 2 or 3 lower than the player you're giving is fair (for standard game-worlds), for example 92 + 93 = 95. For every riser or dropper in the deal make sure there is an equivalent riser/dropper on the other side of the deal or increase/decrease the rating of player offered accordingly.
That's all for now. If anyone can think of any other factors involved please let me know and I'll analyse and add them to the thread.

Youth Cup - Season 2 Rules

    Age Cap: 22
    Rating Cap: 82
    Squads

    Squads Size - 20 Players

Squads must be in by Turn 6, of Season 2.
You will need to select 20 players as part of your Youth squad at the start of the season. You will only beable to play those players as part of your team. Squads can't be edited, so new players can't be added to your squad. If a player is named in your squad at the start of the season at the correct age, but turns over the age cap during the competition he will be allowed to play for the remainder of the competition. As goes for the rating, if a player stars of rated 81 and is included in the squad, but rises to 84 during the competition he's allowed to play for the remainder of the competition.
    Entry

Must be entered by the end of Turn 6, qualifing draw will take place on Turn 7. Signing up starts once the play-offs are finished.
If you enter, but don't give your squad in time, then you will be removed from the competition.
    Teams

    - Swansea City (Divison 2)
    - Colchester (Division 3)
    - Sunderland (Divison 1)
    - West Ham United (Divison 1)
    - Shorpe United (Divison 3)
    - Derby County (Divison 3)
    - Wycombe Wanderers (Divison 3)
7 Clubs out of a minimum of 8 Clubs
    Format

You will be put into groups (of 4) depending on the numbers we get.
You will play each team in your group once, top 2 go through with the group winner getting home advantage in the knockout stage.
From there there will be one-legged ties right up untill the final.
How often will the games be?

Group Stage matches will be played twice a week.
Once the Youth Cup gets into the knockout stages, games will be played once a weak (Thursdays)

I will sort out all draws and fixtures
There's no need to enter untill the season & play-offs completely finished.
This is not a final post for the rules, and they still may be slightly tweaked.

Signing up has started!!! Get involved!!!

    Re: Official Red Devils thread
Just thought I'd do a review of sorts
VDS - I can tell you I heaved a huge sigh of relief when he came back from injury/family problems. Speaking for myself I would become really nervous whenever Kusczak or Foster were in goal especially Kusczak. Since coming back has made some top notch saves and IMO he looks good enough to last one more season.
Foster and Kusczak - Really very very disappointed in Foster. Looks like he just cannot the handle the pressure of keeping for a side where he will always be under scrutiny. While at Watford he was the best English keeper and when he made his debut for us he was the MOM straight away. Hope we sell/loan him as hes potentially the best English keeper and don't want his career to stall. Kusczak is your normal 2nd choice 'keeper who would do a decent job when called upon.
Rafael - Spent the first half of the season nursing injuries of various kinds. Played plenty of games in the 2nd half was quite good. In fact before he was wrongly sent of against Bayern he had Ribery in his backpocket. Just hope he does not lose any confidence after than incident a he looked really crestfallen at the time.
Neville - Getting on now and in all honestly not good enough but seeing as he he is a legend we did the right thing by offering him anew contract. If he hadn't who knows he might have joined Villa and got into the team of the year:eek:
Brown - 2 injury filled years in a row for Brown. If he hadn't got injured last season I am pretty sure he would have cemented the right back slot for himself. As it stands now he isn't good enough to start but quite a able back up.
O'Shea - Technically our first choice RB but been injured for pretty much the whole 2nd half of the season and has only just come back at the back end. An important player in any case for us due to his versatility. Hope he returns to full fitness at the start of the next season.
Vidic - Another player who has been injured plenty of times this season but when he has played been a rock as usual and THE best defender in the world. All we gotta do now is thwart Barca's and Madrid's attempts to sign him and it won't be easy:o
Rio - Very frustrating season for Rio. Started with bad form and that troublesome back. When he finally did return he looked all right but then got injured again.
Evans - Just signed a new contract after there were rumours that he might want to move on to get regular football. A United legend in the making if he stays on good enough to replace Rio or Vidic when they league or get injured. Had a pretty good season as well apart from a couple of games.
Evra - Mr consistent and the ever present. The only defender who survived the injury plague. Looked a bit tired towards in the end which is understandable. Lets hope France get knocked out in the group stages.
Fabio - He looks to be quite injury prone but when he did play he was good. Unfortunately for him Evra was the only defender who didn't get injured this season. Will get his chance soon enough though.
Valencia - Disagree with you on this one Rohan-reddevil. I think he started slowly but just kept on getting better as the season went on. I will admit I initially thought it was a bad signing for 16m but hes proven to be worth it. Has pace and more important knows how to use it.
Nani - Now many might disagree but Nani's got to be the find of the season for me. I didn't even know he could be this good. On the right hes been simply wonderful whenever he has played and improved his crossing hell of a lot. Piled on the assists in the 2nd half the season and if he can keep this up we have one hell of a player on our hands. And listening to a recent interview he looks to be working harder in training ala Ronaldo.
Carrick - Plenty of fans are way to harsh on him. 3 season he was our best CM by a country mile and now bad season people are turning on him. Also worth considering he had to play plenty of games at CB. Hope he has a nice rest in the summer and comes back in good shape for next season.
Scholes - Had a few good games here and there this season but generally speaking hes not good enough to start the big games for me. Gets caught out too much and a lot slower now.
Giggs - Started the season really well and was supplying assists after assist but then had a bit of a lull and then got injured for a month. Has come back since then and looks in decent shape considering he is 36. Still seems to beat the defenders with ease. Was wonderful to watch him at times play with the City defenders in the 4-3 win.
Fletcher - I think the game yesterday shows how much he has come along and how much it helps when the manager has faith in you. That was a fabulous pass to Rooney for a third and against Sunderland he had the confidence to try a couple of back heels and it worked. Not bad for a player who apparently has ZERO technical ability:eek:
Park - Only plays the biggish games and does well at that. But hes not the player we signed. No longer has the pace or is creative enough to play for us on a regular basis due to the injuries he has had.
Gibson - Scored some crackers this season but IMO he isn't good enough to play for us. He shows next to no passing ability whether that's due to having no confidence or no ability I don't know.
Anderson - Had an ok season before he got injured. Still he has shown plenty of promise to tell me he is good enough to play for us. I am really hoping this forced break helps him. The manager placing some confidence in him might help.
Obertan - Looks a real steal at 4m. Has pace, trickery and everything to really to become a top class winger. His only problem will be in breaking into the side which won't be easy.
Tosic - I know hes on loan but he has done really well in his loan spell for Koln. I really hope he gets a chance. The real concern is whether he can deal with the physical aspect of the league. No doubting his undeniable quality. Hope he has a good world cup.
Rooney - Our best player and as people who actually watch us play will know he is so much more than goals or assists. Sets up plenty of of our attacks and his long range passing is brilliant.
Berbatov - The enigma. Some people call him poor, some call him rubbish, some call him a pathetic excuse for a footballer BUT the fact is he is one of the most clasiest player I have seen. When on his game I would pay double the amount to watch him. However truth be told he and Rooney just do no click together. They have only combined directly for 6 goals in 2 seasons.
Macheda - Another player who had plenty of injuries this season but when he does play either from the start or as a sub he makes an impact. In fact I liked the look of Rooney-Macheda yesterday. Lets hope we hang on to him as there are plenty of Italian sides after him.
Owen - Hes probably had more chances than Rooney when did play but his finishing left a lot to be desired. Still he helped us beat the Arabs and that's worth a lot. Might be heading out of the club.
