  1. That makes two of us...
  2. Ahh dammit, I was going to join again this year. Didn't realise you'd have everything sorted this early!
  3. Re: The Official NFL Thread. Who's name you get? My girlfriend got me one for Christmas at the full price
  4. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Done. I've only been to Liverpool a handful of times, so might not be of much use to you

  6. Re: Official Liverpool Thread You seem to think that we went in at the break 0-0 because of luck. Ash has just pointed out exactly why Swansea didn't score in the first half, and it has nothing to do with luck. Mignolet making two or three big saves is no different than a striker scoring two or three big goals. Would you call that luck? If that's your argument then United, and van Gaal, must be the luckiest team in the world right now (some things never change). How many points worse off do you think they'd be without De Gea? To say we didn't play well enough to deserve a lead in the second half is quite amusing. I wonder if you actually watched the match? Despite being completely dominated in the first half, our performance was so much better in the second half that we actually finished the game with slightly more possession than Swansea. Considering that they had well over 60% in the first half, I'd say that was quite an achievement. There's also the fact that we had more shots, more shots on target, and more corners. I'd say we were certainly deserving of a win. The goal may well have been a lucky one, but you can't use that to say that we didn't deserve the three points. As they say, these things even themselves out over the course of a season. We've also had our fair share of luck going against us this season. In fact, Sturridge was rather unlucky not to score when his clever shot hit the post. You've literally just said that "you can't be lucky when you have just lost what 1 in 22?" so surely that works both ways? Using your logic, Liverpool have now won ten of their last 12 games and haven't lost in the league since December. Rodgers didn't have a plan B earlier in the season, and that is largely why our form was so poor. Thankfully, he seems to be improving that part of his game (something he's going to need to be successful in Europe). He managed last night's game absolutely superbly. Gary Monk deserves a lot of credit for the way he set up Swansea, he found a way to counter our 3-4-3 which is something that no other manager has achieved this season. You absolutely cannot deny that Rodgers acknowledged the problem, made changes at half time, and consequently turned the game around. You can call it what you like, but that is simply great tactical/game management.
  7. Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread I don't. Playing the second leg at home is always advantageous and Chelsea got to play an extra 30 minutes in front of their own fans. Allowing the away goal rule to continue into extra time keeps it fair. Absolutely fantastic game management from PSG in the last few minutes. I'm not particularly a fan of it, but you have to admit - it is effective.
  8. Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread Ludicrous decision to send Ibrahimovic off for that. Oscar was just as bad, if not worse.
  9. Re: FOTY ' 14 Semifinal 1 Hey, you had my vote.
  10. Re: French Championship 7556 Speaking of over-hyped... Icardi won't live up to much.
  11. Re: French Championship 7556 Monaco Draw in Season Opener In a thrilling opening game of the season Monaco and Marseille ultimately settle for a point. It really was a game for the neutrals, as both goalkeepers put in exceptional performances. The two sides managed 24 shots on target between them and must have been wondering how they couldn't get a winner. Marseille started as the brighter side, but were surprised by Monaco's defensive tactics. Despite mounting a lot of early pressure, it was Monaco who hit them on the break as Lacina Traore scored a powerful header at the back post on 14 minutes. However, Marseille responded well, keeping the pressure on the hosts. It wasn't long before they got in front, with goals from Alessandrini (20) and Gignac (40). The second half continued in the same vein with both sides having numerous chances to score. Marseille seemed to grow frustrated with Monaco's deep defensive line and were hit on the break again in the 82nd minute. Elderson made a powerful run up the left wing and, after a quick give-and-go with Moutinho, was through on goal. He drilled the ball low and hard towards the far post and left Mandanda flailing. A draw was most likely a fair result, although both sides had good opportunities to win. Both managers seemed fairly pleased with picking up a point, and will no doubt be looking to consolidate this with a win in their next game. The Monaco goal scorers Monaco manager, Ryan Brown, had this to say after the game. New Signings Bolster Squad A number of new signings for Monaco have eventually been finalized tonight, it has been confirmed. It had been hoped that the deals would be completed before tonight's game against Marseille, although all of the players were in attendance at Louis II. No fewer than seven new faces arrived in southern France today - the pick of the names being three times Champions League goalkeeper Iker Casillas. Other signings include Nemanja Matic, Bonfim Dante, and Liverpool youngster Emre Can. Having sent a number of players in the opposite direction, Monaco fans will be hoping that their new signings can hit the round running and make an immediate impact at the club. 13. Re: The Official NFL Thread. Could have gone like last year's Superbowl if they were more clinical.
  14. Re: The Official NFL Thread. This is getting a bit silly!
  15. Re: The Official NFL Thread. I get the feeling all these field goals are going to come back to haunt Green Bay. They really should have had at least three touchdowns by now with the great starting positions they've had.
