    Dominant Spurs Edge Past Sivasspor

    Tottenham Hotspurs 1-0 Sivasspor

    Jose Sosa 15'

    Venue: White Hart Lane
    Attendance: 36,296
    Referee: Claudio Circhetta
Disciplinary: Spurs - 2 Yellows (King, Flamini), Sivasspor - 3 Yellows (Derelli, Kurtulus, Dagasan)
Man of The Match: Darren Fletcher (CM) - 8/10

Sparky's first SMFA Europa League game in charge saw his newly reformed side go up against Sivasspor of Turkey. Despite Spurs being favoruites to take the game, the Turkish side did put up a good challenge threatening the Spurs goal a few times in the process.
Sparky gave starts to wantaway striker Robbie keane as well as handling debuts to Flamini and Fletcher. This was the first time the midfield duo worked together and both players executing their roles to perfection. Flamini was given the role of the ball winner in midfield whilst it was Fletcher's job to be more adventurous.
Early pressure from Spurs paid off as Argentine new boy Jose Sosa finished easily after a mix up in the Sicasspor defense. Sosa scoring not only his first, but also Tottenham's first goal of the Europa League.

Sosa Easily Finishes After Mix Up In Sivasspor Defense

It was continuous pressure on from there. Keane, bentley and Fletcher

coming close numerously but unable to finish as Sivasspor were determined to hold on and grab that all important away goal.
However, the away side were unable to score which left Spurs fans content with the 1-0 win. Sparky later on showed his disappointment with the result: "We should have scored 2 or 3 more goals. But I was pleased with my midfield overall, my plan is starting to work. If you control midfield, you control the game...And that's exactly what happened tonight."
Tottenham now have an advantage heading into their second leg against Sivasspor and Sparky believes and away goal will win it for them.

IMO you have to look at the relative merits of the league and IMO the EPL is miles ahead at the current time (though the 50%tax rate is a bi disadvantage all the EPL teams have to face now-except man City where it dont matter!)
To say that th rest of Serie A is better I dont necesserilly agree for the past few seasonsyou cannot use the UEFA Cup as a comparison as English clubs in the main have taken the competition lightly and I dont blame them as the cup is rather devalued now and is certainl not the goal/prestiege it had previously. You only have to look at Villa, Spurs basically sacrificing it last season to see that this is a oor comparison. The 3 teams who have actually taken it seriously in recent years have done rather well Mboro-Final, ManCity Q-Finals Everton 2years back I think Q-finals....you see the Uefa cup being won mainly now by Eastern European block teams looking to raise there profile as the English and Spanish clubs consider other competitions more important yet to German eastern european teas it is a big deal.
We will have to agree other Cambiasssio rating as no matter how much debate is had nobody will convince me he should be any higher than 94 and should not get a 95 based on the other factors I have mentioned

Have any of you guys actually watched Cambiasso play? Seems like a player has to score in order for you to 'hear' him:rolleyes:
Claiming the Italian league isn't as good is sheer biasness based towards EPL. Just because you live in England, support an English team it doesn't mean it's the best league in the world...
Cambiasso is class for Inter and you could call him the Iniesta of Inter. I think you guys need to watch him play before coming to conclusions to whether he deserves his ratings or not. 4 consecutive Scudetto's with him being in the heart of the midfield...Says alot doesn't it? My suggestion is watch him play and watch the Italian league...
And you can't compare Cambiasso to players like Terry or Robinho etc as mentioned below because if you are too compare than compare him to a player of his position. Mascherano is good but you guys would obviously say he is better as you have never seen Cambiasso and see Mascherano on a daily basis....
If Masch was to move to barca, then in a few months time you would say that someone else of the EPL is better than Masch simply as you don't 'hear' enough of him:rolleyes:

    Kayserispor Update:

The Turkish side are still making big changes to the side, with 13 players arriving at the club in the past few days, as well as another 14 leaving. 5 more offers have been made, whilst 2 more should be leaving tomorrow.
    Transfers In:

    Silva Evaldo
    Ibrahim Sekagya
    Hrvoje Vejic
    Nobuhisa Yamada
    Araujo Marquinhos
    Mitchell Langerak
    Matt Gill
    Felix Obada
    Miguel Palanca
    Goncalves Juliano Spadacio
    Angel Matute Morales
    Tese Chong
    Miles Addison

Keeper Mitchell Langerak joined from Melbourne Victory for £10k as back-up to 1st choice Souleymanou Hamidou. The club will be looking to add another keeper to the side soon though so Langerak could find it difficult to break into the first team for a while.
Defenders Evaldo, Sekagya and Vejic all joined on Sunday so were unable to make their debuts in Saturday's defeat against Galatasary. All 3 will start against Sivasspor on Wednesday night.
The midfield has seen the most arrivals so far with a mixture of youth and experience. Yamada arrives from Japanese side Urawa Red Diamonds and will be used in one of the 2 defensive midfield positions, and is also available for use at right-back if needed. Gill joins for £350k from Norwich and will be used as a replacement for Yamada if injured or suspended. The 3rd defensive midfielder to join is Derby's Miles Addison (pictured above). Kayserispor were extremely happy to sign Addison as they believe he has the potential to become a top class midfielder, he is also able to play just as well at center back. Matute Morales and Juliano Spadacio both joined early this morning and will be used as the club's first choice attacking midfielders in the favoured 3-2-2-2-1 formation. Highly rated Real Madrid Castilla winger Miguel Palanca also joined today as Kayserispor beat off competition from Lazio and Barcelona for the 21 year old. He will be used as back-up alongside Felix Obada who completed a £1.9 million move from Thanda Royal Zulu.
And finally, the strikers. With the club's formation only needing 1 starting striker, it hasn't been the priority and just 2 have been signed so far. Marquinhos was signed from Kashima Antlers, choosing the Turkish side over Hibernian, whilst Chong the North Korean star joined for £4 million earlier on today. Chong has reassured fans he has not brought any missiles with him!
    Transfers Out:

    Koray Colgecen
    Bilal Aziz
    Ali Turan
    Aydin Toscali
    Milan Purovic
    Yusuf Soysal
    Durmus Bayram
    Hakan Aslantas
    Bayram Cetin
    Delio Toledo
    Alioum Saidou
    Abdullah Durak
    Julius Aghahowa
    Franco Cangele

Colgecen, Aziz, Turan, Toscali, Purovic, Soysal, Bayram, Aslantas and Cetin all left Kayerispor in exchange for other signings as all were no longer needed at the club. Toledo left for Spain as he joined Real Sociedad for £5 million, and midfielder Alioum Saidou joined Derby County for £1.5 million with Miles Addison included in the deal. 22 year old Abdullah Durak joined Chivas USA for around £3 million, whilst strikers Julius Aghahowa (pictured above in the middle of his famous somersault celebration) and Franco Cangele left for Santos and Recreativo for a combined fee of £9.1 million.
    Accepted Bids:

Savas Yilmaz - to Exeter City
    Gokhan Emreciksin - to Fluminese

Yilmaz looks set to join Exeter City and will have a medical early tomorrow at the English side. The fee is believed to be around £150k, with 19 year old Liam Sercombe (pictured above scoring at Luton) moving to Turkey as part of the deal. Emreciksin will also have a medical tomorrow as Fluminese look to make him their latest signing. A bid of around £7 million was accepted by Kayserispor this morning.
    Next game: Sivasspor (A) - 8th July.

Spurs Snap Up Fletcher & Flamini

North London outfit Tottenham Hotspurs have brought in two more players to their evergrowing midfield, but with hefty price. New manager Sparky had revealed his ambitions of making his midfield into one of the league's best and it seems he's having t pay a costly price for this...
Scottish central midfielder Darren Fletcher arrived from manchester United in a deal which saw England star Jermaine Defoe and upcoming midfielder Tom Huddlestone move to Old Trafford. Sparky revealed his concerns about paying so much for Fletcher but has put faith in the midfielder to perform in London. Darren Fletcher was a key figure in Manchester United's glory last season and also helped his team reach the Champions League final, where he was unfairly sent off. Sparky showed his excitement of adding a player of Fletcher's calibre to the squad: "He's proven and has played in the biggest footballing stage. Playing Champions League football gives us huge experience with him as well as already being an English Premier League player which means that he will have no trouble adjusting. He is a very good passer of the ball and can pick out team mates easily. He will be a key figure in helping us improve our midfield."
The second central midfielder to arrive was Mathieu Flamini from AC Milan. The french star's arrival saw Wilson Palacios and Roman Pavlyuchenko move the other way. Sparky was disappointed in losing Palacios but told the press that with the arrival of Flamini and Fletcher, Palacio's place in the team would've been limited.

Fletcher & Flamini - Dynamic Duo

    "Flamini Arrival Contreversial" - Sparky

Sparky revealed that the arrival of an Ex-Arsenal star will bring in mixed reviews and Sparky told SSN: "The signature of an Ex-Arsenal player is always going to be greeted with mixed reviews. At one point fans will see his talent and accept a player of his attributes anyday, and on the other hand, the rivalry between Sours & Arsenal is too fierce to accept an Arsenal player. This puts pressure on Flamini to perform and win back hearts of the Londoners."
There have been some angry scenes by Spurs fans but it was reported that fans were furious with the departure of Defoe, Modric and soon to be Keane. One fan told SpursTV: "He's selling our best players, granted he wants to give us a good midfield, but what about defense and attack? It's pathetic I tell you"

Spurs Fans Angry With Sparky's 'Team Policy'

Tottenham will play Sivasspor in their first SMFA Shield game where Flamini and Fletcher are likely to start.
Rumours also suggest that keane may be the latest player to head to Old Trafford...

    BACK IN MANAGEMENT !

At approximately 19:00 last night, North London outfit Tottenham Hotspurs announced Mitu Ahmed, or Sparky, as their new manager, The three time SMFA Champions Cup winner took a break from managing due to family problems but the experienced gaffer revealed his new hunger for more trophies: "Staying away form football has just made me more determined. There are several managers and people talking about how I've lost my touch but I can assure you that the glory days will return to the white side of North London. I have a very good bunch of players here in Tottenham but no one is guaranteed a place, that's why every player in the team has a price tag...And that price is basically two players in return...Spurs need depth in order to compete for three titles although people are expecting us to have another rough season, SMFA football is the least we should be achieving with the talent we have..."

"SMFA Football = Minimum Expectation" - Sparky

Despite being in control for just one day, Spurs boss has already been involved in two transfer deals which saw Croatian star Luka Modric shockingly leave White Hart Lane and upcoming Brazilian star Fransisco Fernando arriving in North London.
Modric left for Germany to the new revamped Bayern Munchen where he fills the gap that was always there in the Munchen midfield, Modric will now have the chance to pove himself against some of Europe's top players as he will participate in the SMFA Cup. Coming in return for Modric was Argentinian attacking midfielder Jose Sosa and German defensive midfielder Andrea Ottl. The two midfielders strengthen the Spurs midfield which had been depleted after the departures of Modric and captain Jenas.
Fernando arrived from Porto with right back Chimbonda and captain Jenas heading the other way. The departure of Jenas was always inevitable for Sparky having been previously linked with Inter Milan. Sparky expressed his delight of the capture of Fernando after saying: "This lad caught my eye last season with his performance against Manchester United in the first leg of the Champions League. He was the ball winner in midfield and if he can go up and perform against the likes of Tevez, Ronaldo, Fletcher, Carrick and more, then why can't he perform here with us? Spurs is a huge step foward for this lad as he is now competing in the best league in the world...I'm just upset that we're in no SMFA competitions this year. Fernando does face stiff competition from Ottle and Zokora but that's what I want from my team...It's their job giving me a nightmare when it comes to picking the starting XI."

Francisco Fernando Will Have The CHance To Battle Against Europe's Elite On A Regular Basis

Ottle & Sosa Will Help Strengthen Midfield...

Sparky has also stated that transfer activity at Tottenham isn't over yet and has told the fans to expect more players. He has also spoken about the availability of winger David Bentley and striker Robbie Keane...

I am going to play the preffered formation of 3-5-2 and hopefully it will go well and with Geremy Toulalan holding the DM role. Thats all for today and I hope to give you a bigger interview on my thoughs tonight if we win."
    SMFA Champions Cup Group

Lyon manager Jake Alexiuk is very happy with the SMFA Champions Cup Groups that have been drawn out as he has no massive clubs that will threaten Lyon that much. But Alexiuk has set not to rule out any of them teams as they are still a threat and could produce a shock in the competition.
    Debutant

New Lyon signing Silva Vagner Love is set to make his debut for Lyon tonight after signing from CSKA Moskva at the season break. We managed to see Vagner Love after he's morning training and this is what he had to say to our reporters on stepping up his career moving to Lyon "This was only a dream but it has come true, I am amazed that I am going to actually start regulary for the club and hope to score lots of goals along side Karim Benzema."
    Also signed

Leiva Lucas and Ruano Alexis both signed from Liverpool also in the season break but at the moment they can only make the bench for Lyon. We asked manager Jake Alexiuk on why he signed these 2 players and he replied "I am looking towards the future with Lyon and these two could be key men to the squad in a few years."

    Sparky Has Landed !!!

Just under 24 hours ago, former European and English champions Manchester United appointed Sparky as their new boss to lead them to glory this season. Last season saw Liverpool win the title for the first time in 18 years but Sparky has vowed to bring the glory days back to Manchester.
The red devils kick off their 2009 league campaign against Fulham at Craven Crottage and Sparky has told the fans not to expect results straight away as it will take more than a day for his team to gel together. Manchester United are without Nemanja Vidic for tomorrow's league encounter and therefore young centre back Johhny Evans will partner Rio Ferdinand in defense.

    Sparky Expects Ribery To Shine

Going into the league game against Fulham, new Manchester United manager Sparky has told MUTV that he expects his new star Franck Ribery to be the new talking point of Manchester. Last season saw Cristiano Ronaldo leave the club for Barcelona and Ribery was brought in as a replacement but the English primere league has proved to be kind for the Frenchman as the winger only managed 2 goals in 17 appearances. But Sparky has put his full confidence in Ribery to jump back and regain his form and produce that beautiful football which he once displayed with Bayern: "He's one of the best players in the world. Real Madrid & Barcelona are fighting over his signature but he's here and he's here to stay. he needs time to adapt and we'll support him through and through"

    Lamps To Return To EPL?

Just a few hours ago, Manchester United claimed to have wrapped up a sensational deal for England international Frank Lampard as the playmaker looks set to return to England. Lampard, who currently plays his football in Germany spoke of his desire to return and new manager Sparky made no hesitations in opening negotiations with Hamburger SV. If successful, then the deal will see Owen hargreaves move to Hamburg. Hargeaves's career at Manchester United has been very short lived because of injury and Sparky believes that Lampard's arrival would boost his attacking options. The other player to leave Old Trafford is long term servant Paul Scholes who has said that he wants to finish his playing career abroad. If the deal goes through, then Lampard may gain a starting place on the bench for his match against Fulham.
However, the deal is very complexed and if it goes through, then Manchester United had also promised to allow Tevez to move to Hamburg in a deal which may either see Hleb and Trowchowski also move to Old Trafford.
