  1. Re: Total Fulham FC! Been a long, long time, hasn't it? I have played a bit again recently, so I decided to pop in and give some opinions on the current FFC squad ratings on SM. Hope here's an adequate place to put it First off, the squad itself. I feel that it should be notes that Matt Saunders and Eddie Johnson do not form part of the Fulham squad any longer, so that could be sorted. On a different note, how come when I view the Fulham squad that's going to be included in a new English Championship, players like Dalla Valle and Salcido (both out on loan) do not show up, yet Halliche and Stockdale, again, both out on loan, DO show up in my team?? I find it strange. Finally, Hoesen is also currently out on loan, yet it doesn't show it in-game. From a ratings point of view: Schwarzer - Well, what can I say? He was brilliant in his first season, but has slowly declined in consistency since. He's very slow to get down, not great in the air (depending on his mood really - sometimes he can relieve the pressure on the defense, yet sometimes he actually causes the panic himself by coming out badly), and his kicks are probably the worst in the Premier League. I'd say he's on par with the likes of Jaaskelainen and Given, so I reckon he should be 89, not 90. (side-note: I actually prefer Given in goal!). Stockdale - Oh my! The difference between Schwarzer and Stockdale is certainly not this big! Stockdale could easily be rated 85, rather than 83, and this would greater reflect his real life ability. He showed his quality last season with Fulham, and is doing so again with Ipswich this season. He hasn't been called up to the England squad just for the sake of it. Briggs - Currently at 78 - that's low. He's shown in pre-season that he is more than capable of playing at a high level. I'd say 81/82 is more around his mark. Salcido - Maybe the 88 rating he's given is based on how nice his name sounds, not his actual footballing ability! Seriously, 86/87 at most. Never seen a defender so out of position during a match. Since we're going on about defenders, I'd like to mention that some English defenders or those who are playing in England are not judged as highly as the foreign ones in other leagues. Players like Richards, Cahill and even Hangeland seem to be underrated. Compare them to, for instance, Bonucci, and you've got one clear winner all day long - yet Bonucci is on par with these three, all rated at 89, again, if I'm not mistaken. That said, where has the 89 for Yobo come out of?! Moving on, the Fulham central midfield is overrated. It's the weak point of the team. Murphy - 88? Better than Joey Barton and David Dunn? Oooo that's sooooo wrong. Maybe 88 refers to the number of times he gives the ball away or loses his temper per match. 87 for old man Murphs I'm afraid. He's slow, bad tempered and in the last two seasons has only managed 1 breathtaking pass. On the CM note, Etuhu should also fall to 86. Kasami, my friends, has played RM for Fulham and I hear he can play AM. CM is simply not enough. In fact, he's rarely played there. Also, 83/84 would be a more fair assessment in my opinion - he'd played much more than Gecov (82), for instance. Sorry I'm going to have to rush the end of this post. Upfront and on the wings we seem decent. However, in which world Dempsey is better than Duff and Zamora I still cannot figure out. He's not consistent enough for an 89 - or else Duff and Bobby should be 89's too. Demps is lazy at times, and pretty slow too. Thankfully he does bag a few goals, but still not worthy of being higher than Duff and Bobby. Finally, the farce of the team. AJ. How he's rated 88 is a mystery. 86/87 would be much more realistic I'm sure. Pity much negativity has come out of my post, in the sense that more drops are needed than ups - but in truth, Fulham are not a definite top 8 team, (average team rating of 88 is the 7th best team on SM alongside Everton) and will struggle to be in the top 12 this season. Unfortunately, anything other than my opinion (such as last season's league position) DOES show the contrary of what I'm saying. Hehe it's gd to be here
  2. Re: Fulham FC Ratings Yep. Would have imagined an 89 at least, and still expect him to keep increasing if he keeps up the form he showed in the last 2 seasons Unfortunately, judging by the Fulham changes, the ratings have clearly been changed based on statistics rather than quality of performance. The way Kelly and Murphy remained the same (didn't decrease) and Okaka went up kind of proves this.

  6. Re: Sell Ronaldo for 100mil? I'd go for: Casillas Ramos - Ferdinand - Nesta/Pique WINGER - Fabregas - Van Der Vaart/Hamsik/Toure - Ronaldo Kaka Ibra - Eto'o Try get in Ribery mate to fill the winger position, without parting with any of the above starters
  7. Re: Riser or Dropper Poll Fellaini will be 94... but you'd have to wait a couple of real life years for that one :p
  8. Re: Cup Final - urgent
  9. Re: Player positions It's all a matter of testing out your players and formation in different situations. What could work for me doesn't necessarily work for you, if you know what I mean. I always tend to play 1 F and 1 CF in a 2 striker formation, but that's just because I like it in real life - doesn't mean it has the same effect on the game. Try a few friendlies and test around. in a 3 - 5 - 2 formation, I'd go with: GK CB/RB - CB - CB/LB W/RM - CM - DM - CM - W/LM F - CF But obviously it's difficult to get those exact positions.
  10. Re: Sell Ronaldo for 100mil? Decent team there With a 3-4-1-2 formation or a 4-1-3-2 you'd be able to play all 4 effectively. If you want to just choose 3, keep Kaka, Ronaldo and Eto'o. Dump Ibra. Most important thing is to keep Ronaldo, especially in an inactive setup. Try sell the guy Kaka or Ibra for 100m instead of Ronaldo.
  11. Re: Who NOT to buy? Fair enough, but that doesn't make him a better player  Truth is he's average, very average. If he somehow manages to start playing well regularly then he'll match Grygera and go up to 90. That's probably the most he'll ever go. A rating similar to Molinaro seems fair enough to me.
  12. Re: Players!!!! Help!!!!! Give us ratings and positions please...
  13. Re: Who Should I Sell/Keep: The ratings are irrelevant of the players' performances in the game, so based on those stats he will not get increased. However, I would keep Beckford as he's supposedly about to sign for a Premier League club - if he settles immediately he may be in for quite a big rise
  14. Re: Help! Cant get this team to work!! Give us the positions and rating of each player. Will then help, no doubt. One thing I can tell you from now is that 4 at the back will always be safer. 3 at the back does tend to cause more shock results.
  15. Re: Is it always best to play to your strengths? There is a bit of a luck factor when it comes to this. Personally I would always select my best team, irrelevant of the opponent - then again I don't have the time to stay checking each and every opponent out, so I just play the best players (taking into account ratings, fitness and positions). Although in theory you might be right in thinking that they'd have it easy against your weak defense, this is not necessarily the situation - even in real life - i.e. if you keep possession their guys won't even get to touch the ball... Anyway, basically I, personally, would stick to my strongest team, without changing too much from game to game where possible.
  16. Re: Who NOT to buy? Zaccardo... not really a promising youngster is he? :p
  17. Re: Messi, Higuian and Gerrard Higuain is good, but not magical. Gerrard will never get higher than what he is. Messi could potentially get 99 (I remember Ronaldinho at 99...). Keep Messi, or ask for Gerrard + Higuain + 20m or something of the sort.
  18. Re: Alessandro Nesta ! Although I feel Rafael is too erratic to ever be more than 93 (although; 1) this is already a decent rating, and 2) people will say he'll improve that aspect with time), I think this is a very good deal. Nesta is on the down, he's past it. Rafael is on the up - however it will take time. I'd do the deal and bring in a Nesta replacement (not that you need it judging by the talent you've got) with the 35m.

  20. Re: Player Match Ratings - meaningless? Well, just as in real life, the match ratings show how well the player played throughout the game, so a match rating does show something, although does not 'mean' anything as such, bar reflecting on a player's performance. I do feel that maybe there's an exaggeration in how many times the team with the higher average loses - but this is something to do with the match engine. Other than that, apart from assuming that passes, goals, etc... are taken into account when devising a match rating, I can't imagine any further benefit other than a morale change, which I admit I am not aware of.
  21. Re: Transfers Agreed, or maybe a potentially better improvement would be having the option to 'delay' an offer through the transaction process (i.e. without having to send a PM)... 'The Manchester United manager has requested a 2 week delay on your offer for Wayne Rooney >>> Accept Delay / Reject Delay'... Seems reasonable to me.
  22. Re: Being able to see what a manager is doing in-game Would be a nice little feature, but as you mentioned, privacy would be the main issue (as well as the complications in such an implementation, but that's not our job ). To solve this I'd propose a 'test run' where you can only see this information for people who are on your friends list. Maybe this, similar to the turning off feature, would offer substantial account privacy.
  23. Re: More Squad help With the game running alongside a real life sense of ratings, although you'd think it would be good to get rid of the old guys and replace them with up and coming talent (such as you'd do in a normal football management game), in this case it may be more worth it keeping the old players, assuming they're still decent in real life. What am I trying to say? Basically I think that you should only sell the old ones if they're either really playing badly, injured for a long time, or about to retire - I don't believe in REPLACING old players for new blood in SM, since at the end of the day it's the rating that matters. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of investing in talent (potential risers), but these should be bread along the old who already achieved a peak rating. An old 95 rated person may still have 2 real years at that level in him (which is quite a few in-game seasons!!), while a young 91 who is destined to rise in the future would/might take too much in-game time to do so. I hope you understand my point - not really finding it easy to explain
  24. Re: Job Vacancies Common sense would tell me that this is based on your success within that setup - success based on points, basically. However, having been away for a long time, not 100% sure if it works this way.
