    Florent MALOUDA (Chelsea), 39 mins

Alberto RICARDO CARVALHO (Chelsea), 54 mins

Newcastle Utd got a creditable draw away from home to title chasing Chelsea, the first goal didn't come until the 38th minute and it was Newcastle Utd who got it and it was young Spanish left back Sanchez JOSE ENRIQUE who got it to put Newcastle Utd 1-0 up but Newcastle Utd couldn't hold on to the lead as only one minute later it was 1-1 and the goal was scored by Florent MALOUDA to make it 1-1 going into half time.

The second half got underway and with only three minutes in Newcastle Utd restored their lead as it was Sanchez JOSE ENRIQUE again who put Newcastle Utd 2-1 up and although the lead lasted longer than last time it was Chelsea who equalized and it was only six minutes after Newcastle Utd had went 2-1 up and it was Alberto RICARDO CARVALHO who got the equalizer to make it 2-2 and that is the way the game ended to give Newcastle Utd and Chelsea a share of the points.

Westerlo were playing the better football and putting most of the pressure on but Feyenoord got the goal to put them 2-1 ahead against the run of play and it was young midfielder Domagoj VIDA who got the goal for Feyenoord and it proved to be the winning goal as Feyenoord took all three points.

The second half had barely kicked off when Andrés GUARDADO put Deportivo 3-0 ahead with a simple finish after a mix up in the defence of Recreativo, there was a sour note as Deportivo's Alberto LOPO was sent off on the 76th minute as he brought down the last man but with only five minutes left Humberto SUAZO made it a debut to remember as he scored his hat trick and it was a cracker of a goal to put Deportivo 4-0 up and to give Deportivo the three points.

  6. Re: Gold Championship 16 - Discussion Thread

I'm a fairly new gold member. Naturally one of the first things I wanted to do with my membership was join a GC. I wanted to manage a reasonable top flight European team that hadn't been robbed of all it's top players. I couldn't find one. I'm not talking about Barcelonas and Man Utds here I'm talking about Hertha Berlins' date=' Zaragozas, and Sampdorias! I eventually found a semi decent Eintracht Frankfurt in GC 11 (Which was only half only decent due to the fact that the previous manager had been a total Barry Fry and pretty much the whole squad was on transfer bans when he quit!).

If Gold 15 hadn't been created I still wouldn't have the opportunity to manage a team that I want in a gold setup, and I'm sure there a lots of others in my shoes.

There needs to be a reasonably regular creation of Gold Setups so that new Gold members can get what they pay for out of their membership,[/quote']

    Good point.

Newcastle Utd followed up their opening day win with a great win over title favorites Manchester Utd, the game had barely kicked off when Newcastle Utd got their first goal and it was scored by Spanish defender Sanchez JOSE ENRIQUE in the 1st minute, the second goal was an equalizer for Man Utd and it was another Spaniard who scored but this time it was Hernández XAVI on the 41st minute but only one minute later Newcastle Utd had retaken the lead and it was Diego LUGANO who had put Newcastle Utd 2-1 ahead going into the break.

Man Utd didn't take much time in scoring when the second half got underway as Wayne ROONEY got an equalizer to make it 2-2 on the 46th minute but Newcastle Utd were not to be denied there win as new signing Achille EMANA got the winning goal on the 57th minute to cap off a perfect debut for the former Toulouse man and to give Newcastle Utd the full three points.

Yohan CABAYE (Newcastle Utd), 5 & 72 mins

Joey BARTON (Newcastle Utd), 36 mins

Newcastle Utd got their season off to a terrific start as they managed to win 3-0 away to Aston Villa, the game was only five minutes old as Newcastle Utd's new signing Yohan CABAYE put them 1-0 up which looked to be offside but the decision wasn't given and Newcastle Utd were 1-0 up, the referee seemed to be having a shocker as on the 13th minute he sent off Michael OWEN for diving which surely should have been just a yellow card going by the laws of the game but he sent him off and Newcastle Utd were down to ten men, Newcastle Utd were down to ten men but that didn't stop them as they scored there second goal on the 36th minute and the goal was scored by Joey BARTON and that sent Newcastle Utd 2-0 up going into the break.

The next major incident came on the 69th minute as the referee gave Aston Villa striker Lukas PODOLSKI a second yellow card for dissent and that was the two teams down to ten men for the remainder of the game, only three minutes after sending off the Aston Villa striker, Newcastle Utd had scored and it was new signing Yohan CABAYE who grabbed a brace of goals on his debut to make it 3-0 to Newcastle Utd and to give them the perfect start to the season.

Feyenoord beat their record for their biggest ever win tonight as they destroyed FC Utrecht 10-0, FC Utrecht put out a team where their players all played in their right positions but they were lacking in match fitness and it showed big time as they just couldn't cope with there opponents who were superior in their fitness and in every department to be honest, Andwélé SLORY got a hat trick while Domagoj VIDA & Barreto IBSON both bagged braces, the other goals were scored by Francisco BERG, Carneiro KEIRRISON & Danny BUIJS who all got one goal each, Feyenoord were expected to win the game but nobody expected this result and especially because Feyenoord put out their reserve team.

    Armando PETIT (Benfica), 52 mins

    Pedro PAULETA (Benfica), 80 mins

Feyenoord came through a tricky away tie against Portuguese giants Benfica to book there place in the last 16 of the SMFA Shield, after beating German side Vfl Bochum 4-2 in the first round Feyenoord went into this game with an air of confidence, Feyenoord were quick out of the blocks as they scored in the 1st minute of the game through Kevin HOFLAND as he rounded the Benfica keeper and finished from an acute angle, the second goal came on the 17th minute when Feyenoord doubled their lead as Brazilian midfielder Ferrugem RODRIGO rifled a shot in which came off the woodwork and went in to make it 2-0 but that wasn't the end of the action in the first half as Nuri SAHIN was foolishly red carded for a shocking tackle on the 28th minute and that left Feyenoord with ten men with a large chunk of the game remaining.

The third goal of the game came for Benfica to make it 2-1 and it was veteran midfielder Armando PETIT who brought Benfica back into the match on the 52nd minute and the momentum continued in Benfica's favour and it got better for Benfica as on the 60th minute, Feyenoord were down to nine men after Ferrugem RODRIGO despicably spat in the face of his opponent and was deservedly sent off but with Feyenoord still 2-1 up it was Benfica who had to force the game but with only nine men, Feyenoord amazingly went 3-1 up on the 74th minute and Kevin HOFLAND got his second of the game and that set up an enthralling finish to the game as Benfica piled on the pressure and they were rewarded on the 80th minute when Pedro PAULETA scored to make it 3-2 but his strike was in vein as Feyenoord somehow held on to their 3-2 lead with only nine men and deserved to go through for their amazing resolve.

Feyenoord are looking to go one better this season after finishing runners up in the SMFA Shield last season and beating a Benfica side who knocked out Roma in Rome in the first round shows they are serious about winning this competition, Feyenoord will now play Dynamo Kiev in the last 16 in which will be there third away tie out of three in this competition.

  13. Re: Ross v Tom v Mark v Teb v Torley v Toggs v Sam v Daniel

Got pumped with Arsenal in the final, as you can see I played my reserve team as I am only third in the league and the teams behind me aren't too far behind so I need to concentrate on getting promotion, I blame the Bosnian referee for my defeat, :D .

Well done Ross, apart from Chesterfield you played all Premiership opposition including Chelsea and Arsenal so it's thoroughly deserved.
