  1. Re: Gold Championship 10 Match Report Thread Mediterranean Cup Final Galatasaray 1-2 Benfica Scorers Sulley Ali Muntari (Benfica), 61 mins Luis Fabiano (Benfica), 67 mins Turan Arda (Galatasaray), 69 mins Benfica went into this game knowing this might be there only chance to secure European qualification for next season and they did that by beating Galatasaray 2-1 at Wembley, Benfica deserved their win as they dominated possession and had more shots on goal and it took one hour for the first goal to come as Sulley Ali Muntari put Benfica ahead by beating two defenders and slotting the ball into the net, the second goal came shortly after as Benfica's Luis Fabiano made it 2-0 as he beat the offside trap and slid the ball under the advancing keeper but Galatasaray immediately replied as Turan Arda scored on the 69th minute to make it 2-1 and set up an entertaining finish but Galatasaray couldn't get their second goal and it finished 2-1 and that saw Benfica go home with the trophy. Benfica manager John Paul Torley was delighted to get his first trophy in a Gold Championship and he didn't have to wait to long for it as he only has played one full season in a Gold Championship, Benfica can now concentrate on their league form as that has been dissapointing. Benfica's path to glory Round 1 Bye Round 2 Benfica 1-0 Sporting Quarter Final Benfica 4-2 Fenerbahce Semi Final Benfica 4-2 Porto Final Galatasaray 1-2 Benfica

  3. Re: Gold Championship 10 Match Report Thread Galatasaray 1-1 Benfica Scorers Albin Ekdahl (Benfica), 43 mins Mario Regueiro (Galatasaray), 49 mins This game was a dress rehearsal for the Mediterranean Cup final as these two sides will contest that competition in just one days time but there were three vital league points up for grabs for these two teams but Benfica and Galatasaray couldn't take the full three points and played out a 1-1 draw with Albin Ekdahl scoring for Benfica on the 43rd minute and Galatasaray equalising through Mario Regueiro on the 49th minute.
  4. Re: Gold Championship 12 - News, Transfers & Match Reports Velez Sarsfield 1-0 Santos Scorer Alejandro Veron (Velez Sarsfield), 55 mins Santos will be disappointed with the start to their season as they went down 1-0 away from home to Velez Sarsfield, the Santos manager felt his team were good enough to go and get a result and Santos did play well during the game but the only goal came from Velez Sarsfield as Alejandro Veron powered a header into the net on the 55th minute to give them all three points.
  5. Re: Gold Championship 11 - News, Transfers & Match Reports Shakhtar Donetsk 2-0 Spartak Moscow Scorers Dario Srna (Shakhtar Donetsk), 34 mins Ndri Romaric (Shakhtar Donetsk), 51 mins Shakhtar Donetsk got their league campaign off to a great start as they beat what would be seen as one of their title challengers Spartak Moscow 2-0, the match doctor checked for signs of insanity from the Spartak Moscow manager as he played three goalkeepers in his starting line up but Shakhtar just got on with their job professionally as Dario Srna put Shakhtar ahead on the 34th minute and it was 1-0 going into the break, only six minutes after the break Shakhtar doubled their lead as new signing Ndri Romaric made it 2-0 and the game finished that way.
  6. Re: Gold Championship 10 Match Report Thread Benfica 3-2 Hajduk Split Scorers Sulley Ali Muntari (Benfica), 1 & 46 mins Kevin Hofland (Benfica), 24 mins Mads Junker (Hajduk Split), 50 mins Willam Kvist (Hajduk Split), 72 mins Benfica got their second win in a row as they beat Hajduk Split 3-2 in an entertaining game at the Estadio da Luz, Benfica wasted no time as they went straight up the park from the kick off and scored in the 1st minute through their Ghanaian midfielder Sulley Ali Muntari, it was 2-0 on the 24th minute as Kevin Hofland poked home as the Hajduk defence dithered, Sulley Ali Muntari got his second of the game and Benfica's third as he scored from 10 yards out and the score was 3-0 going into the break. Hajduk came out fighting in the second half because on the 50th minute their Danish striker Mads Junker scored to make it 3-1 and it was another Dane who made it 3-2 as William Kvist set up an interesting finish to the game but Hajduk couldn't find their third goal to complete a comeback and it finished 3-2 to Benfica.
  7. Re: Ross v Tom v Mark v Teb v Torley v Toggs v Sam v Daniel v Austin Colchester 2-3 Bristol City Scorers Javier Billalba (Bristol City), 41 mins Ruben Baraja (Bristol City), 51 mins Kazenga LuaLua (Bristol City), 70 mins Kevin Watson (Colchester), 8 mins Kevin Lisbie (Colchester), 75 mins
  8. Re: Gold Championship 9 - Match reports / Transfers thread Feyenoord 1-0 Club Brugge Scorers Aiyegbeni Yakubu (Feyenoord), 82 mins Feyenoord went into the last game of the season knowing that it would be unlikely that they could get into the top two as they needed Ajax to slip up at home to FC Groningen but they still needed to win knowing that FC Twente could overtake them to get the second SMFA Shield place and Feyenoord done their job as they beat new Holland & Belgium league champions Club Brugge 1-0 at the De Kuip, it was a nervy match throughout and Feyenoord got the only goal though Aiyegbeni Yakubu who curled a shot into the net. Feyenoord managed to get the SMFA Shield place due to Ajax qualifying for the SMFA Champs Cup through their league position therefore their SMFA Shield place goes to the team that finished third in the league. Holland & Belgium final league standings Feyenoord's competition places Holland & Belgium league - Third place & SMFA Shield place Holland & Belgium Cup - Knocked out in 1st round Holland & Belgium Shield - Knocked out in 2nd round SMFA Shield - Runners up

  11. Re: Gold Championship 9 - Match reports / Transfers thread Never knew that, I will end up losing my last game, lol.
  12. Re: Gold Championship 9 - Match reports / Transfers thread Lol, not good for me either, I expect Ajax to win their last game so that would leave me needing to beat Club Brugge 11-0 on the last day to get into europe.
  13. Re: Gold Championship 11 - News, Transfers & Match Reports I appoint myself as the new manager of Shakhtar Donetsk, can't you see the delight in my face.
  14. Re: Match Reports On Your Favorite Team (OR MORE) Not In A Forumer Setup My Arsenal team in English Championship 505, thought I would assemble a Brazilian colony, first season has just ended and I finished third unfortunately.
  15. Re: Ross v Tom v Mark v Teb v Torley v Toggs v Sam v Daniel v Austin Norwich 0-2 Bristol City Scorers Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink (Bristol City), 23 & 48 mins
  16. Re: Gold Championship 10 Match Report Thread Benfica 4-2 Porto Scorers Luis Fabiano (Benfica), 32, 68 & 87 mins Cristian Rodriguez (Benfica), 34 mins Danilinho (Porto), 1 min Dja Djedje (Porto), 29 mins Benfica made it to the final of the Mediterranean cup with an entertaining 4-2 victory over Porto, Benfica made the worst possible start as they conceded in the 1st minute through Porto's Danilinho and Porto made it 2-0 as they scored on the 29th minute through Dja Djedje but the Benfica comeback started only three minutes later as Luis Fabiano drove the ball past the keeper to make it 2-1, then on the 34th minute it was 2-2 as Benfica's Uruguayan midfielder Cristian Rodriguez hit an early shot that caught out the Porto keeper. The second half started in the same entertaining fashion as the first half but it was Benfica who completed their comeback on the 68th minute as Luis Fabiano scored his second of the match to put Benfica 3-2 ahead and in the dying minutes Benfica made sure of their victory as Luis Fabiano grabbed his hat trick and to make the final score 4-2 to Benfica. This is the only ray of light in Benfica's season as they have endured a dissapointing season, Benfica will now face Galatasaray in the final for the trophy and a place in next seasons SMFA Shield.

  21. Re: Ross v Tom v Mark v Teb v Torley v Toggs v Sam Bristol City 2-1 Charlton Scorers Ruben Baraja (Bristol City), 28 mins Matteo Brighi (Bristol City), 40 mins Svetoslav Todorov (Charlton), 10 mins That win takes me to top of the league but the three teams behind me are only one point behind.
  22. Re: Ross v Tom v Mark v Teb v Torley v Toggs v Sam Watford 1-3 Bristol City Scorers David Noble (Bristol City), 59 mins Jose Marti (Bristol City), 60 mins Kazenga LuaLua (Bristol City), 68 mins Gareth Williams (Watford), 54 mins Not my strongest side so I am happy with the win, that takes me to second place and one point off the top, still in both cup competitions as well.
  23. Re: Gold Championship 10 Match Report Thread Benfica 1-1 Trabzonspor Scorers Nuno Gomes (Benfica), 83 mins Bulut Umut (Trabzonspor), 69 mins Benfica continue to be poor in the league as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Trabzonspor, Trabzonspor took the lead on the 69th minute through Bulut Umut but Benfica equalised through veteran striker Nuno Gomes on the 89th minute to share the points.
  24. Re: Gold Championship 9 - Match reports / Transfers thread Feyenoord 0-3 Ajax Scorers Hedwiges Maduro (Ajax), 12 mins Cassio Lincoln (Ajax), 38 mins Francesco Tavano (Ajax), 60 mins Feyenoord are all but out the title race as they fell to a humiliating 3-0 home defeat to Ajax and it also looks unlikely that there will be European football next season at the De Kuip, Feyenoord's players simply didn't turn up for this game as Ajax showed the right attitude to go and win the game and it was Ajax midfielder Hedwiges Maduro who opened the scoring for Ajax as he rounded the keeper and slotted home in the 12th minute, Ajax were 2-0 up as Cassio Lincoln scored on the 38th minute and the game was wrapped up for Ajaxon the 60th minute as Italian striker Francesco Tavano scored from a deflected shot. With only six games left Feyenoord lie in fourth place and three points of the top two with the top two also having a superior goal difference so therefore it is unlikely that Feyenoord will finish in the top two this season.
  25. Re: Gold Championship 10 Match Report Thread Willing to sell 90 rated striker Oscar Cardozo if anybody is interested, I need a 90+ rated midfielder as part of the deal.
