  1. Re: Sir Metz's SoccerManager Guide to Football/Soccer. @EdisunVu: Your team is good enough to do whatever formation you want really. It is probably just the tactics that you have set. Take a look at my original post and rea up on the tactical setting you can do. @Nirvana: You can do a 4-3-3 Winger formation, but I do not think that that is the strongest formation for you team. I guess try it and see if it works. If you use a 3-5-2 formation, look to try and play attacking, and use a target man at either the AM or a Forward. If you use the 4-3-3 Wingers, make sure you are crossing the ball
  2. Re: Sir Metz's SoccerManager Guide to Football/Soccer. What do you mean by compatible? ARe you looking for a formation to play with the players for a 3-5-2 formation, but not use the 3-5-2? If so, I would try a 4-4-2 or 4-4-2 diamond if you wish. Normally the DM in the 352 cn play CB if you need another CB, and then you still have the two wingers. Other than that, you have the two centermids still, or use an attacking mid for the diamond, with another DM (if you have one) for the DM position. Keep your forwards the same and you should be all set! If that is what you were asking for then t

  4. Re: Sir Metz's SoccerManager Guide to Football/Soccer. have always found that playing a player as close to the position desired will result in them playing better. I would try and find a LB and a RB, becuase thats what they play. Same thing goes for like a DM/CM, you only want to try and play him as a DM or a CM. Anywhere else and he will not play as well. If you have three CB/RB, try and trade one for a RB/LB or a LB/Whatever, because having two CB/RB playing as a CB and a RB isnt bad but the CB/RB paying LB is not going to work very well I hope that makes sense with all the CB/RB stuff lo
  5. Re: Sir Metz's SoccerManager Guide to Football/Soccer. Sorry for the late reply, I havent been bale to find the time I used to have for this. To answer your question: If you are going to use offensive tactics then you will want to have a lot of great offensive players. If you have a strong defense, you will want to play defensively with a counter attack or something like that. With a good offense its good to be attacking becuase then the other team hopfully will not have the ball against your defense, therefor hiding the faults of your defense. I hope that makes sense Again, sorry to th
  6. Re: Sir Metz's SoccerManager Guide to Football/Soccer. it sounds good, but if you end up conceding a lot of goals, you may want to try it again with the "plain" tactics, becuase the tactics you listed are really goal-scoring/offensive minded...
  7. Re: Sir Metz's SoccerManager Guide to Football/Soccer. Well I went on an 8 game undeafeted streak with 3 ties and the rest wins. I then decided to not change the tactics according to the other team on a home game, and lost....I guess that shows that changing tactics is the way to go-in my opinion obviously.
  8. Re: home and away games? Well, I always change my tactics to counter the other team formation. Then on top of that, when i am away, I play for the counter attack, and when I am home, I go straight at them and try and score. Its all personnal preferance I guess..
  9. Re: MLS Setup-Transfers, Match Report etc. Still a Big "O" For the Crew The Crew lost 3-1 today to the Chicago Fire. This is something that has become a rythm for the crew, as they still have 0 points in the tables. Manager Gavin Metz stated after the match, "Well, a loss is failure to me, but it wasnt all bad. We have no chemistry yet, and its good to see Brian McBride back and score a goal on his debut. I think once we get the team together for a bit more, things will start to click. Some of the players from Turkey still cant communicate well, so thats hurting us now too. We just need a
  10. Re: help wit my team n tactics? Your team is a decent squad. if you are using a CF with a F that may be causing problems-I tend to not do as well with the two positions at forward mixed. And, with having no RM or RB, playing people out of their position hinders their abilities so that ay be a minor problem as well. I would also suggest getting RM, RB so that you will not get your midfield and defense fatigued.
  11. Re: Help with tactics The 4-5-1 Sounds perfect. I would use the tactics as men behind ball, target man, and counter attack. Your probably looking to defend most of the game, and then get a break resulting in a goal, then defend like ****. Chelsea is a great team, you just gotta get through the onslought and get one goal for the win
  12. Re: MLS Setup-Transfers, Match Report etc. Columbus Crew News The Columbus Crew finnally named their new manager. They have taken Manager Gavin Metz, previously coaching at Valencia C.F. to take the helm of America's Hardest Working Team. Hopefully Metz can take this club from a last place to a team to be thought of once again. There have already been several transfer market bids within the club, including the famous Brian McBride, an old famous Captian and leading goal scorer for the club.
  13. Re: TACTICS, do you agree with the new? I am happy to see it, I just hope i dont have to go back and change my guide lol I will if I have to though I guess....
  14. Re: Sir Metz's SoccerManager Guide to Football/Soccer. awesome!! I am happy to hear that this is helping people. And, Iam glad that others are now trying the formatin change idea out as well
  15. Re: Sir Metz's SoccerManager Guide to Football/Soccer. Well I guess peope always say, "practice what you preach". I would think the same thing as you, but from what others are posting, apparantly changing your tactics every match is helping. I have started to follow what my guide has said, and I havent lost yet so far. One of my team is going to lose the next match though becuase of fatigue lol, but still...
  16. Re: I don't get it........ well, I guess I can understand that abranchi, but I still beleive that they dont go together lol
  17. Re: How to win CONSISTENTLY If you give me your squad, then I can tell you which formation and tactics I think would be best...You will probabably find the same info in my guide though. Its up to you lol
  18. Re: Spurs team good enough? I would dfinitaly say that that team is good enough to advance. You may want to consider investing in some youth so that you can have better people in the future. Also, I would look at the top teams in the top league, and see if you need to buy people then...becuase yes you may advance, but if all of those teams are amazing, you will just get relegated again. Thats why I would look at their squads and see how yours compares. Other than that, I wouldnt spend too much, now would be the perfect time to let your team coast along to promotion, and gain money at the sam

    Rep Point boom

Re: Rep Point boom I like the rep system, but have noticed the same thigs that Leigh as pointed out. I can also say that mrep has boomed, but most likely due to my Tactics guide. I think we should just zero out the people that are asking for rep, as that defeats its purpose completely...
  20. Re: Sir Metz's SoccerManager Guide to Football/Soccer. no problem!!
  21. Re: Play Maker + Target Man I havent had much sucess with a CF and a forward to tell you the truth...but when I had the two of them together, they were next to eachother on on the field in a 4-4-2 formation (or a variation of that-w/ 2 forwards). Perhaps if you went with a 4-4-1-1 and had the 4 defenders, 4 midfielders, and then the CF and then the F. That may work, but I reeally do not know the answer, again
  22. Re: Your opinons of MLS in their 12th season? Well, I dont think it will decrease in popularity at all. If anything it will be in the top three sports in 5-10 years. For one, every little kid plays soccer when their young, and knowing that there is a professional league for it, thy may be more obligated or inclined to stick with the sport. For two, more business men are seeing the love for it in other countries, and want that to happen here in America so they can profit off of it. It will be a long time, but eventually I thnk America could be good enough to form a few of their own "good" pla
  23. Re: The Leamington Invitational Official Thread Well, The Raith Rovers gained three more points with their win taking them to 4th in the tables. Da Rocha ha a hat trick! Amazingly enough, Milosavic was the MoM, helping to lead the team to victory. No cards were given out, and no injuries occered. It was a good night for the rovers... On another note, the Manager is hoping that they can continue their wining form thourhgout the season. He also stated that he is looking to sell players to cut the noose on the bank account. If any other managers need players, then the Raith Rovers may be the pl
  24. Re: Play Maker + Target Man lol...perhaps. There are still people posting threads about tactics and asking for help.... I dont think it will ever end. At least this thread is a good question to ask instead of something like, Who should I buy next for my Barca Team ect ect ect
  25. Re: Sir Metz's SoccerManager Guide to Football/Soccer. Hahaa...Thats what Shelbourne was saying. I think it was him. He suggested that we close this section and leave my guide and the other stickies for everyone to look at when needed
