  1. Re: Official Arsenal Thread Yeah, but I think that is more an experiment to see if two underperforming strikers can form an effective one (and the answer was no). Don't really know; hopefully that would be an option. Haven't seen what suitibility he has as a winger (crosses, pace etc). I still think he'll be played as target man
  2. Re: Official Arsenal Thread Doubt Wenger will ditch the 433 for 442.
  3. Re: Official Arsenal Thread One thing I have learned today is the Vermaelen is a better striker than Arshavin and Chamakh combined.
  4. Re: Official Arsenal Thread According to the transfer market, Manchester City's starting XI is worth around 250 million euros, and Arsenal's 160 million. Including bench, Manchester City's team value is twice of ours. Also, report on Mancini: "Roberto Mancini is exerting all the nervous energy and angry shouting of a man who has seen his side slip off the top of the table. The Italian, so collected in recent weeks, is near apoplectic this afternoon. Jittery indeed." Hahahahahahahahaha.
  5. Re: Official Arsenal Thread Will definitely get Reus if possible. But for a January backup for van Persie, Podolski is more likely.
  6. Re: Official Arsenal Thread Haha, seems I need to reply faster. Anyway regarding your points: 1. Goalkeeper backup now that Fabianski is out, not a first team goal keeper. 2. Again, I reiterate at this point in time Wenger (currently) isn't looking for older players whose positions are taken by our current first team. With the case of CBs, we've got four centre backs already, and it just so happens that we needed to play all of them due to injury. However, rest of the time when our full backs are fit, two will be subs, meaning a newly signed centre back like Samba would drop further down to reserve. Again, on top of that, AW is more likely to promote a youth if things do get desperate (least we forget Miquel plays CB more than LB). 3. My point isn't who Wenger will play as wing. My point is that he will not buy considering the many possibilities he has. 4. BVB won't be selling Goetze any time soon anyway...so I very much doubt AW will even bother. 5. We don't need to get rid of anyone from our LB. My original post was saying that your transfer window wishlist is unrealistic. Not saying that I dislike it, rather it's not possible by January.
  7. Re: Official Arsenal Thread Very unrealistic. Why replace Per and Arteta when they are in form and doing well...plus why spend the money on players whose positions are already of a surplus. What we need is a full back, a striker and perhaps a goalkeeper. Even so, Miquel, Jekinson and Yennaris are chosen ahead of signing anyone for our full back position. He also announced today he is buying another striker in January anyway. Benayoun will probably will Gervinho's LW position while Gervinho is away at Africa. Cahill will probably be bought by Chelsea or Sp*rs. Samba would be too old for AW's liking. And why place Vermaelen on LB?? Gibbs and Santos do a much better job going forward, plus I guarantee you Vermaelen is the most solid CB in the Premier League at the moment, and therefore it would be a waste to place in him in full back.
  8. Re: Official Arsenal Thread Santos is out for three weeks
  9. Re: Official Arsenal Thread Carl played good today for a change...better than Santos defensively, at least. Good to see Vermaelen back, though pray God that he survives the international friendlies unscathed...
  10. Re: Official Arsenal Thread But that shouldn't be a reason for him to be labelled as horrible.
  11. Re: Official Arsenal Thread To call Per horrible is just exaggeration. Two two high profile mistakes? Fine, you can call it a bad day for him. But there are numerous other occasions in other games in which his good performances outweigh the one yesterday. Also, least we forget how full handed our CB were in the first half. Not only do they have to mark people in the box, but also take care of our wings when we got beaten (which happened quite often). The Terry goal maybe was more preventable though, but still. We were always weak against crosses and long balls. Santos though is still a big question mark. Though I have to see Gibbs play better before I can rule Santos out. EDIT: And the statement about Clichy...I don't think he is that bad of a defender as we claim. But the point is we could use the money from selling him to get a better LB.
  12. Re: Official Arsenal Thread So partying it the whole afternoon was great. Coming back to terms though, there are some things that do worry me after today... 1. AW might decide we can survive with the current team, thus will not bring any new players in January anymore (whilst we actually desperately need a backup RB and a backup striker in case Sagna gets injured again or if van Persie gets injured). 2. Playing Djourou as first choice RB is out of the question, though playing Carl is also a big question mark. Still a big problem in our RB. 3. Though Santos was better in the second half, both our wings are exposed quite badly. 4. Though it pains me to say this, it really is a bit one-man team with RVP...and considering his durability, I pray to God he does not get injured. Otherwise, still enjoying the victory of today.
  13. Re: Official Arsenal Thread Nope you are right. Djourou cannot play RB, Santos gets beaten too often and we are still vulnerable from long balls and crosses. Though considering how we came from an 8-2 defeat earlier this season, no one really cares...for now
  14. Re: Official Arsenal Thread van Persie is a legend. Period.
