FOOTBALL FOCUS for June ( the month, not Garry’s Grandma) Leeds United- This was to be the season the club finally get back to the top division, hopes were high amongst all the fans until they appointed Gary Crawford as manager, director of football and bar manager. In came Rui Patricio gk 91, 16m from Wolves Jozo Simunovic dc 85 2.6m Odsonne Edouard cf 7m ,both from Celtic. Rest of the squad were deemed good enough for promotion by the new manager. Not only did they win all pre season games, they won at Ipswich on the opening day then a 2-0 defeat at Sunderland spoilt it all.. Just 1 win in the next 5 games left the fanbase wondering whether it was a good idea of Garry to let his 10 year old nephew leave the Crawford household after a change in the lockdown rules, it seems no one was left to alter the tactics that were needed to get them back into a challenging position. 2 wins in mid May against local rivals Sheffield Utd and Barnsley gave the manager more time to put a promotion run together but after a hiding at Anfield and a boring 0-0 at home to Exeter in the cups, time could be running out for Mr Crawford, especially after last night’s dreary draw at lowly QPR leaves them in the bottom half 6 points off the play offs. Delving into the transfer market might be needed very soon if this big club are to move up the table, presuming the manager is still there after Monday night's cup game against Bury pensioners. 4/10.
  3. Yes , they are saying September and are talking to about 20 managers about ideas. But as you can see , they said this around 4 years ago and did nothing. The previous improvements were dreadful and they have ignored the paying customer ever since. Changes will be welcome but I doubt they are capable of actually improving it from our point of view.

MIDDLESBROUGH season is ticking along nicely, 1/3rd of the season gone and we have 22 points from 15 games and are in 8th place. 4 points off of the play offs which will be too much of an ask for us but a top 10 finish will do us fine in the 1st season. Out of both cups is not good enough though and with soccerwiki's very slow progress in getting ratings reviewed, there won't be much to talk about this season.

We are coming up to being 1/3rd of the way into the season and Div 1 is as you would expect, except for west ham at the top. Burnley 6th and Watford 8th will be pleased with their start to the season whilst Everton won't like being just 13th. Lewandowski is the star of the division with 13 goals, 6 assists and 8 Mom's from his 10 appearances. Div 2- Bristol C and Hull have a healthy lead over everyone else but Wolves are chasing them. Norwich 17th and Fulham 19th should be doing better and Leeds 12th will be once they get a decent manager. Barnsley's run of 10 defeats is not what they were hoping for after taking all of their 5 points in the first 4 games. Enzo Perez and Victor Osimhen are the divisions top players. Div 3- Gillingham are romping away with an unbeaten record giving them a 6 point lead over Blackburn, also unbeaten. Bury and Rotherham are close on their heels. No surprises elsewhere and Scunhorpe are showing Barnsley how it is done with 12 defeats in a row, they share the relegation spots with Northampton and Bradford who both took 12 games to record a victory. Carlos Tevez is setting the division alight, 17 goals, 2 assists and 8 Mom's from his dozen appearances. Div 4 - Accrington, Exeter and Crawley have pulled away from the others at the top, one defeat each in 14 games. 10 wins in a row put Accrington on top. Cheltenham's change of manager and subsequent influx of oldies has meant they have risen quickly with a run of 6 wins out of 6. Notts co are perhaps the surprise package in 5th but Coventry 13th, Luton 15th and Wycombe 17th need to improve soon. Cambridge seem to have taken the decision not to accumulate any points and Grimsby and FGR are also adrift in the relegation places. No standout player at the moment but Jorge Molina is topscorer with 10, good decision to delay his pension and play for another season. Div 5- Dagenham with 13 victories in 14 matches are top with Dover just a point behind, Chester and Tranmere trying to catch them. Maidenhead have just a single point with Sutton, who are also lacking in every department have a single victory to their name, 13 defeats for both clubs means Conference South football is looming. Ebbsfleet and Boreham Wood are in the top half, a good effort at this stage but Wrexham, Hartlepool and Orient will not be happy at being outside the top 10. Stephanne Sessegnon is the top player of the division, in his 11 games he has scored 8 , has 9 assists and 5 Mom's. CUP- Conference side Leyton Orient made it into the 3rd round with a 1-0 at charlton, their reward is a tie at Watford SHIELD- Carlisle beating Sheff Wed 1-0 was the shock result of the round, a home tie next against Swansea will help the bank balance.

So far in Div 5- Chester with 100% record lead the way, Torquay, Dagenham and Tranmere all unbeaten. Dover and Gateshead make up the top 6. Fylde, Sutton, Maidenhead & Bromley are still waiting for their point. Strangely enough Maidenhead's GK is top of the averages by a mile with 8.5 average yet has conceded 19 goals in 6 games. Div 4- Carlisle and Crawley are the 2 with 100% records, Exeter and Stevenage unbeaten in 3rd and 4th place. Cambridge are pointless with Grimsby and FGR still without a win. Div 3 - Rotherham top with 16 points followed closely by Charlton with Gillingham and Plymouth next . both unbeaten. Pointless Walsall have Northampton and Bradford for company as the clubs without a win. Scunhorpe tactics are not going to plan , 4 red cards so far, kit man might be on the bench for Monday's cup game. Div 1- Man city and west ham have a perfect record with Liverpool, Everton and Man utd still unbeaten. West Brom and Stoke still looking for their 1st win. Only 4 games played in Div 1 due to players being too precious to be expected to play 3 games a week.

Middlesbrough are having a decent start with 10 points from 6 games leaving us in 8th. Managed to keep an 83-84 rated side for all games whilst keeping everyone match fit, also averaging a 130k profit per game which leaves room for the next transfer window to p/e a few players so we are expecting a top 10 finish at the end of the season. Division 2 so far- Bristol City and Hull have100% records and are 3 points clear of favourites Sheffield Utd, both have taken the short term route to promotion with older players having been brought, looking like a good move at the moment. Wolves in 4th with the rest of the table looking as you would expect with exception of Norwich in 21st with 4 points but now that it becomes just 2 games per week we can expect the higher rated sides to start to move up the table or pull away from the chasing pack. Mario Balotelli of A.Villa has been the outstanding player so far, 5 games 4 goals 3 assists 3 MoM's and a av. rating of 8.4.

  9. 2 vacancies at present, only those who can hang around for several seasons can be accepted.

Middlesbrough transfer news, we aim to change the majority of the squad for younger players so the ratings won't have been improved on. We have decided that promotion wasn't realistic considering some of the higher rated clubs in the division so we have gone with keeping the wage bill low and hoping to have a few risers to profit from whilst keeping a good enough squad to cope with 3 games a week. Adam Gandy - took Ipswich, negotiated deals with managed clubs then quit for a bigger challenge. Took Orient, spent the money and quit on the day of the first game. Daro - WBA- spent all the money on 2 average players and left the club on the day of the first game. Bruce Wayne - Chesterfield , Got rid of the whole squad and brought in 22 teenagers, got beat 4-0 in the 1st game and quit, very heroic. Diego Simeone - Southend, quit after 2nd game and 2nd defeat, leaves behind no money and a squad of only 22 players to cope with 3 games a week, only high rated players are very old. Roland Koeman - Shrewsbury, Mainly old players bought and gone after 1 game. Dino Baggio - Ipswich, money gone on mainly old players, 3 games and gone. Billy Suter - Coventry, 3 defeats in a row coceding 10 in the process has led to yet another quitting leaving Coventry with unfit players and no money. Chris Senior - Cheltenham, money spent, 1 win ,6 defeats and 22 goals against might be the reason for this tantrum. Gyspy King - gone travelling after just 8 games, perhaps the 7 defeats made the decision an easy one. Alex Raul - spent all the money on 5 33/34 year olds, left behind a squad of only 22 players and quit whilst in the relegation zone. Winners- CUP - SHIELD - DIVISIONS 1 2 3 4 5 Charity Shield
