  1. Re: Official Arsenal Thread If you are into heavy deflections.
  2. Re: Official Arsenal Thread Good to have Arteta back as well. With Arteta, four losses in nineteen games. Without Arteta, four losses in five games. His ability to maintain possession under pressure and spread play when teams are defending deep is glossed over too much.
  3. Re: Official Arsenal Thread This is fun guys. We should do this more often.
  4. Re: Official Arsenal Thread 2-1. Great ball from Song again, Walcott cuts back for RVP.
  5. Re: Official Arsenal Thread How is every free kick against us so good?
  6. Re: Thomas Eisfeld - New Arsenal signing In his defense, he only hadn't appeared for the first team at Dortmund because of his long term injury.
  7. Re: Official Arsenal Thread The performances would be much more consistent too.
  8. Re: Official Arsenal Thread Agree that we won't sign a fullback. Disagree that it would be pointless. Points we've dropped in the past month and could drop in the next few weeks could be the difference between 4th and 5th in May.
  9. Re: Official Arsenal Thread Found a clip of Eisfeld. http://www.101greatgoals.com/gvideos/arsenal-target-thomas-eisfeld-playing-for-borussia-dortmund-reserves/
  10. Re: Official Arsenal Thread Sounds almost as good as Thomas Eisfeld. I haven't been able to find anything on him besides this. He's nineteen and hasn't even featured for the second team at Borussia Dortmund yet, very strange buy. They must see him as undervalued, but I doubt he'll get near the first team here. Of course, I'm also pre-judging him having never seen him play.
  11. Re: Official Arsenal Thread http://angryofislington.com/2012/01/19/arsenals-finances-the-plain-truth/ Review of Arsenal's finances. Backs up what I've been talking about, while I don't agree with every way they invest in the squad, there isn't money just to be thrown at it.
  12. Re: Official Arsenal Thread Sorry, thought you were talking about the total profit for the financial year. Last year a large percentage of the profits came from a one-off property sale. We had to sell both those players, Fabregas was sold for the "bargain" price he was because of the agreement between he and Arsene (if he signed the contract extension to drive up the price, we would sell) and Nasri had to be sold to get value for money, since one season from him was not worth around 30 million (transfer fee + wages).
  13. Re: Official Arsenal Thread I might get demonized for this, but I don't know what else you can reasonably expect the board to do. The main reason we have stopped winning trophies is not Arsene's lack of tactical acumen, poor player signings, or refereeing conspiracies, it is the massive cash investment into Chelsea, Manchester City, and other clubs around Europe. When Abramovich poured his millions into Chelsea and won the back-to-back league titles, Arsenal had two choices, borrow heavily to try to spend at Chelsea's level or develop a long-term strategy based on youth players and getting value for money from the transfer market. Spending money we don't have on players and wages "to keep revenues up" is what happened to Leeds, and they are still trying to recover from it. Look all over England and Europe, and you will see tons of clubs with debt problems. And as for accusing the board of profiting from this, since Arsenal's shares have never paid a dividend, the only financial benefit they get from owning Arsenal is the value of the shares, which depends mostly on Arsenal financial health and on-field success. One thing I will say is while I believe cash injections on players and wages are unsustainable, is if Usmanov wants to inject cash, let him do it into a long-term investment to raise revenues (e.g. shopping complex at Emirates, youth academy, etc). Back to the team though. The whole point of the austerity years during the stadium move was to get a certain group of young players (Wilshere, Ramsey, Walcott, Szczesny, Gibbs, Song) to develop into a competitive team. Hopefully, it turns out the way Borussia Dortmund's similar project has. But even if it doesn't, we will still have a good team, a financially stable club, and pride in having done things with character and class. If that isn't what you want from your football club, I don't know what else to say to you.
  14. Re: Argentinian risers **This is not my work. This was posted by Sancho in the Spanish forum. I've simply translated the comments into English** Hello everyone. These are my predictions for Argentina. These are the first that I have made. Let me know what you think. And let me know if I forgot a player. The teams are in order of their position in the league. 15. Re: Nicholas Yennaris Played a full 90 in the league cup earlier this season too. Think it was against Bolton.
  16. Re: Official Arsenal Thread I'm looking forward to seeing who the first choice midfield trio will be when Jack returns. Hoping for Song and Arteta holding with Jack higher.
  17. Re: Official Arsenal Thread http://www.eplindex.com/denilson-scott-parker/ Interesting article comparing Denilson's statistics to Scott Parker's. If you looked at this article without any previous knowledge of the players, you'd be shocked how much stick Denilson gets and how much people adore Parker.
