  1. Re: Available Teams, No Job Offers! (GC Teams Only!) Just Rejected a very well balanced Napoli side in GC24 (Still has Lavezzi, Hamsik and supplemented with lots of other players like Hernanes, Maggio, Pranjic etc) EDIT: Gone
  2. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Abject performance accentuated by the whole Mascherano saga. I can only hope that Hodgson had not planned to play this formation before Mascherano's withdrawal, because it was incredibly naive to play that 4-4-2 against Man C who obviously were not going to change their formation. Midfield got outnumbered time and time again and the front two barely got the service to into the game. Our left side was cringeworthy and we certainly need to sort that before the transfer window closes (if we can). Not taking anything away from Man C, who now have a squad capable of c
  3. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Thanks for the warm welcome . Hope I can live up to the standards of the managers and all round gentlemen in this gameworld.
  4. Re: Official Cricket Thread I believe the loss was the best thing that could have happened for us. There are a few players who have been struggling technically with their batting and hopefully they will now re-double their efforts to get their technique right. The saving grace perhaps is that it's been their technique and their ability to read Saeed Ajmal (who is hardly a world-beater) and his variations that have troubled England most and the Aussies don't have anyone resembling a class spinner any more. But all of them have to work on their batting. More worrying is the bowling and take o
  5. Re: SM Elite League - Discussion Thread/Sign Up sheet - Negociations/Trading thread. 3 days gone and no sign of the results for group B or any suggestion that any other fixtures are being prepared for us to vote on (now 6 days since a new fixture was put up). We're arguing over the nitty gritty of a formula to get results right, when in actual fact, whichever way you look at the first result (whether you go by majority votes, Timo's suggested formula or any other way), Borussia deserved the win according to votes cast. I very much doubt there will be an argument about most results and expect
  6. Re: England Players and their counties I partly agree and partly disagree. I totally agree that these players owe a debt of gratitude to their counties and should play more for them. No doubt, their presence in the side would encourage more spectators to attend and greatly benefit their county sides, many of who are now struggling financially. I also agree that Sky is very much to blame for their absence along with the era of professionalism and central contracts, etc. However, in many ways I believe there is a silver lining and this will benefit both the county game and the England side in
  7. Re: Squad Sizes Part of the reason why this topic keeps periodically getting re-ignited is the fact that despite SMs efforts, they have not yet found a solution to the problem. It's a delicate balance between trying to make more players available for all clubs to purchase and not enforcing managers to part with players they wish to keep. Most seem vehemently against the squad cap notion and it's clear that this forced SM to think of a different idea to tackle the issue. Their response was to create the concept of player AI and player concers. It seemed a good compromise as it would in theory
  8. Re: Official Arsenal Thread Does anyone have the lowdown on how this proposed Fanshare scheme will work? I'm curious to see how much of a say the fans will get if they invest. I've heard investors may get some voting powers at the clubs AGMs (but if it's going to be a minority vote (all the fanshares combined) as compared to the board will it be worth investing in it?). Also is anyone planning on investing themselves or getting their parents to invest in a Fanshare
  9. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Just pulling your leg . Can't see why we bought him either to be honest. I've never seen that much potential in him and we may as well have saved the 3m. Even if Hodgson wanted to save a non-homegrown slot by not having Cavallieri as our second choice keeper, I believe Bouzanis would have qualified as homegrown in January. May as well have loaned a keeper till then. Pretty strange purchase all-in-all.
  10. Re: Official Liverpool Thread I don't necessarily think that's something you should be boasting about in public, Andy
  11. Re: Official Manchester City Thread I don't think he'll play every game either. My point was that he will probably be used in exactly the same way Bellamy was last season. Get some starts but mainly be used as an impact player off the bench on one of the flanks. Clearly having made the outlay, Mancini will use him in preference to Bellamy for this role. This leaves Bellamy with no role in the club (other than League cup duty maybe) and just there to make the odd comment as he is prone to do (and already has done) which would just cause disruption. I take on board the point about the possibi
  12. Re: Official Manchester City Thread Surely all of this is the reason you've purchased Balotelli. Balotelli is the rich man's Bellamy in my eyes and personally I don't see any benefit in having two very similar players. They are similar in attributes and temparament and I don't think either would have been happy playing second fiddle to the other. Both have potential to cause disruption within the squad if they spent too much time benchwarming and so in my opinion you are better off getting rid of one.
  13. Re: Official Manchester City Thread Don't tell me....it was a 'breaking news item' and a Sky sports exclusive. They get worse by the day
  14. Re: Official Liverpool Thread I heard that too and I think it's being run by the Mail today. In my opinion it's worse than the Muntari part exchange deal that was being offered. The problem is, with Mascherano having made his intentions clear, suitors are going to try and get away with blue murder with the bids they make. Unfortunately, there's going to come a time when we will almost be forced to accept one of these offers as there's no point in keeping hold of an unhappy player
  15. Re: Official Manchester City Thread Just wondering if any of you known what the 2m payment he is demanding represents. Is it the value of the remainder of his contract with City or something else? . If I were a Villa fan I'd certainly be worried about acquiring a player who would seemingly hold off a transfer on the basis of monies owed at a club where he's effectively on gardening leave. A distinct lack of ambition from Ireland.
  16. Re: Official Red Devils thread Don't worry, I do that all the time
  17. Re: Official Red Devils thread That post says Chelsea beat Man U to his signing

  19. Re: SM Elite League - Discussion Thread/Sign Up sheet - Negociations/Trading thread. A famous pundit once said 'you never win anything with kids' . Doesn't bode well for my team then Imagine what my team's average age would have been had I not drafted David Beckham PS The 0.4 in the average represents one extra player overall, I think (not too sure myself) . I have a feeling it may be from Hearts who have 33 players I believe (not the 34 as in your table, Kari) . Nice stats, lets have more
