  1. Ive returned from a short hiatus to take charge of Blackpool (eurgh!) Gutted to miss out on Preston the other day, but sticking with Blackpool as its more of a challenge. With Preston I never went below Div 2.
  2. Luton have completed the signing of Alex McCarthy and Tom Lawrence. McCarthy will contest Emiliano Viviano for a starting spot, while Lawrence is more one for the future. Ryan Fulton has signed too, meaning both Viviano and the other keeper are available. Luton drew 1-1 at the weekend. I quite like the 2D match engine, even if it is very simple.
  3. Made 5 signings overnight. Dwight Gayle, Lewis Dunk, Ben Marshall, Adam Smith and Nedum Onuoha all sign, with Onuoha taking the captaincy from Rafael van der Vaart who's leaving for Betis
  4. If ANY team becomes available please can you let me know
  5. Luton Town have appointed James Burrow as manager on a three year deal. The London based club decided to part with previous manager Muhammed Kocul after a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Histon in the First Round of the EFL Cup. The appointment is seen as a massive coup for the Hatters, given Burrow's experience on a domestic and international level. Things already look to have taken a turn for the better, with Luton triumphing 2-1 over Macclesfield in Burrow'sfirst match in charge. We managed to get a brief word with the manager after last night's game: "It was a solid performance. This was the first opportunity I've had to properly see the players in action. Obviously the team selection is somewhat dictated by the injuries we have but once they are fully fit then we will look at possible new signings." It has been rumoured that captain Rafael van den Vaart could be soon leaving, as will Alberto Gilardino, with the Italians contract due to expire at the end of the season.
  6. What do guys think of FIFA 17 so far? The new game mode looks OK, and with a years feedback it could be even better in 18. One thing I would have liked in the new FIFA is a separate International Career Mode, where you only manage a nation but it's much more in depth than the current bolt-on to club career mode (scouting, training sessions with the nation, live group draws) however to start off with you can only manage up to a 3 star nation. By unlocking certain achievements more teams will be unlocked, either for that career mode or for a new one should you want to start from scratch. That way you would get people choosing to manage smaller nations and you can have more stories like Iceland, Wales, Hungary etc. It will never happen as it wouldn't make EA any money but it's an idea.
  7. No doubt the actual Preston players have gone. I would probably have stayed on had I had the time, if Lanzini was available at external then who else?
  8. As a parting gift here is a list of every player to have made an appearance for Preston in all my years here. Aaron Lennon Aaron Ramsey Adam Lallana Alberto Moreno Alex Mowatt Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Anderson Andreas Beck Andy Carroll Andy Lonergan Angel Rangel Anton Ferdinand Antonio Valencia Ashley Cole Ashley Williams Ashley Young Barry Robson Ben Davies Blaise N’Kufo Brad Guzan Caleb Folan Carlo Cudicini Carlos Vela Charlie Adam Charlie Austin Charlie Mulgrew Chris Gunter Chriss Smalling Clement Chantome Connor Wickham Craig Bellamy Craig Gardner Curtis Davies Damien Duff Dani Pacheco Danny Simpson Danny Welbeck Danny Welbeck David Beckham David De Gea David Luiz David NGog David Nugent David Wheater Dennis Aogo Diego Forlan Emile Heskey Emiliano Insua Eren Derdiyok Fabian Delph Fabio Aurelio Fabio Borini Fabio Da Silva Fabrice Muamba Fernando Llorente Filip Djuricic Franco Di Santo Gabriel Heinze Gareth Bale Gareth Barry Gary Cahill Gary Gardner Gaston Ramirez Glen Johnson Gonul Gokhan Graham Alexander Guti Heberson Ronny Honorato Nilmar Hugo Campagnaro Hugo Rodallega Ishmael Miller Jack Robinson Jack Rodwell Jake Forster-Caskey James Tomkins Jamie Carragher Jay Rodriguez Jens Lehmann Joe Hart Joe Mattock Joey Barton Johan Vonlanthen John Arne Riise Jon Flanagan Jonathan De Guzman Jordan Henderson Jose Enrique Jozy Altidore Juliano Belletti Junior Stanislas Jussi Jaaskelainen Kenneth Omeruo Kenneth Vermeer Kevin Mirallas Kieran Gibbs Klaas Jan Huntelaar Kyle Walker Lee Cattermole Leighton Baines Leroy Fer Liam Moore Luca Marrone Luka Modric Luke Young Manuel Almunia Marcelo Marco Amelia Mark Noble Marko Arnautovic Marko Marin Martin Kelly Matt Derbyshire Matt Etherington Matt Lowton Matt Upson Matty James Maynor Figueroa Michael Bradley Michael Johnson Michael Keane Michael Owen Michel Vorm Michu Nathaniel Chalobah Nedum Onuoha Nicklas Bendtner Niklas Sandberg Niko Kranjcar Noe Pamarot Owen Hargreaves Paul Scholes Paulo Ferreira Per Mertesacker Peter Crouch Phil Jagielka Rafael Da Silva Raul Albiol Rickie Lambert Robbie Keane Roman Pavlyuchenko Ronald Zubar Roy Beerens Ryan Babel Saido Berahino Sam Byram Sami Hyypia Scott Parker Scott Sinclair Sean St Ledger Seb Giovinco Shaun Wright-Phillips Siebe Schrijvers Stephen Ireland Stevan Jovetic Steven Gerrard Steven Pienaar Stijn Schaars Tim Howard Tom Huddlestone Tom Ince Victor Anichebe Victor Moses Vincent Muratori Wilson Palacios Yossi Benayoun Its a shame to end it all and I will still come on the forum occasionally, but with work and other commitments, plus the game being so slow to run, its just not worth my time. Here is my final squad, it will be interesting to see what the new manager does. 1040 games and out!
  9. Hi Guys. Sorry to make this brief but I'm on very low battery and can't find my charger. After over 1000 games in charge of Preston I have decided to call it a day and hand over the club to somebody. Thanks guys.
  10. Five games to go and a 1-0 win away at Leyton Orient sees Preston return to the summit. Five games away from completing my Preston trophy cabinet. Got a tough run ahead, made worse by the change that has meant that Sam Byram is my first choice RM in a 3-5-2. Probably going to leave at the end of the season as I've hardly gone on the game due to work and the fact that the mobile app is really clunky and not something I can use in a quick five minutes. I saw Elliot came back to Rochdale briefly, sorry I wasn't around to see him return.
  11. Halfway through the season and I'm six points clear at the top, thanks largely to Gareth Bale with his 28 goals.
  12. The 3-3 draw with Brighton on Oct 10th marked my 1000th game in charge. Shane it was a draw, and my 1001st game was my first league loss of the season.
  13. Still unbeaten, and Bale has 16 goals since I put him up front! Approaching my 1000th game.
  14. Bale proves the difference as Preston win again Preston North End moved two points clear at the top of Division One with a 1-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage. Gareth Bale scored the decisive goal with a low free kick under the Fulham wall, which caught the home keeper Stekelenburg out. The Welsh international now has 10 goals in the league after just six games, and has single-handedly turned around the clubs fortunes, after they were nearly relegated last season. Preston were made to work for the three points, with Chris Smalling dismissed for two bookings within a 15 minute spell in the first half. We spoke to Preston manager James Burrow after the game: "That was a hard earned three points against a very good side. Both sides had plenty of chances, and the only thing separating us is that we have a world beater in Bale. He has started this season in great form, not just with goals but with assists too. When one of their players was booked in the 3rd minute I could see that this game could descend into a card fest, and so I'm not surprised that Chris was sent off. He was a tad unfortunate that his only two fouls resulted in cards. Hopefully we won't miss him in the next game." Preston now top the table by two points after Darlington could only draw with Manchester United. The Lilywhites are now six games unbeaten, and have won the last five games in a row. Next they face Sunderland who are in 16th place.
  15. This would have been a massive help back in the day. The main reason behind EC106s decline was club wreckers selling off the best players and signing 40 year old 75 rated players. Then the clubs who bought the best players don't see why they should sell said players as they themselves weren't cheating, just taking advantage of a club wrecker.
  16. Up to 985 now. Preston will be my last club before I quit altogether.
  17. Anyone play this on Xbox one?
  18. I have a similar problem. A formation which took me to 2nd place and has won me trophies in the past doesn't work now, as I finished 17th. I have been playing 3-5-2 however the players I have suit a four-back formation. My starting 11 currently is: GK: De Gea CB: Mertesacker CB: Smalling CB: Williams CDM: Fer CM: Gerrard CM: Henderson LM: Moreno RM: Lallana ST: Bale ST: Jovetic Thanks for any help
  19. After 114 games and promotion to the top flight I'm resigning from Swindon Town. Built a nice squad if very small and leaving the club with a little money to work with. Since joining I have graduated from Uni, qualified as a pharmacist and got a new job working all over Manchester so I dont have the time to maintain the club.
  20. After 121 games and three trophies in three seasons Im resigning from Barnsley. I dont have the time to manage them properly as I am now a fully qualified Pharmacist working all over Manchester. They have plenty of money and a lot of young prospects.
  21. After 161 games of on-off management I'm finally resigning from Plymouth. Since I took the job I have graduated from Uni, qualified as a Pharmacist and have a new job in Manchester which takes up a lot of time. I have left them in decent shape, with some money to work with and some decent players if not a lot of squad depth. Hope somebody picks them up who has more time than me to work with them.
  22. Preston maintain Premier League status ahead of Champions League Final Preston North End brought a disappointing domestic season to a close with a 1-0 defeat to Wycombe Wanderers. Brazilian Kaka scored the only goal with just three minutes on the clock and Wanderers held on to finish in the top six. Preston had one eye on the impending Champions League final against Premier League Champions Manchester City, fielding a number of squad players, however it was a poor performance from the Lilywhites, with manager James Burrow expecting a lot more from his team on Tuesday as his side make the trip to the Santiago Bernabeu. There has been no word from the club regarding Burrow's future at Preston. The vastly experienced manager has chalked up 985 consecutive games in charge of his hometown club, steering the Lilywhites to two FA Cups, one League Cup and one Championship title. Preston finished in 2nd place in the top flight last season but spent the majority of this season in the relegation zone and only a late change in form spared the team from a third top flight relegation during his time at the club. It is no secret that Burrow has said he will not manage another club in his career, and was thought to have retired a few years ago only to change his mind. A Champions League winners medal would leave hm with just the Premier League to win, but whether the board will allow him the opportunity to, we are yet to know.
  23. Just thought I'd update you guys as I have been very inactive and will probably be quitting shortly. Last month I passed my final exams and so am a fully qualified pharmacist. I start my new job in Manchester tomorrow
