Re: The Great British League - discussion thread
My best guess at the pick of my bunch for the next couple of seasons:
GK: Carlo Pinsoglio - out on loan from Juventus hasn't played as much as I'd have hoped but still involved with Italy under-21's and should have a strong future, even if it looks less likely now that he'll be "the next Buffon".
CB: Nicolas Isimat Marin - 20 yr old Valenciennes CB rose +5 to 83, no reason why he can't continue to rise
CB: Ignacio Fideleff - 22 yr old just recently moved to Napoli, rated 80 should hit 83 for his time in Argentina and the few appearances he's had for Napoli
CB: Piccoli Neuton - 21 yr old already rated 83, similar to Fideleff looking to cement a starting spot in Serie A having recently moved to Udinese
RW: Manuel Lanzini - 19 yr old rated 80 but with over 2000+ minutes for River Plate and Fluminese should continue to progress
CM: Magomed Ozdoev - 19 yr old with 1400+ minutes for Lokomotiv Moskva, will surely jump +3/4 from 80 and upwards again in the future
CM: Alexander Merkel - 19 yr old German youngster racking up time with Genoa in Serie A, big talent but has an attitude problem apparently that could slow his progress
AM: Lorenzo Insigne - much expected of Napoli's 20 yr old, 19 goals in 33 games with Foggia last season and now 7 in 15 for Pescara in Serie B this season, another one for a +3/4 for now and more in the future
LW: Fernando Canesin - 19 yr old Brazilian progressing nicely through Anderlecht's finishing school, rose +5 to 80 should rise plenty more
CF: Ciro Immobile - 9 in 16 for Pescara on loan from Juventus, will certainly rise from 78, the 21 yr old has a bright future in Serie A
F: Silva Ciro - rated 82 and incredibly will be 23 in April, I still believe that despite it being a couple of years after he was the must-have player on SM Ciro can be a mid to high 80's player. Near 700 minutes in his first season with Fluminese should see him rise +1/2 and hit 83/84
Subs: GK - Romo, CB - Dominguez, CM: Rafinha, W: Verdi, CF: Eduardo, F: Kelvin

This is to all managers about MUFC12:
Now we all know who he is and that this is like his 1000th account on the forum lets all get use to it at least it is a forum manager for the setup, now to you MUFC stick about as this is the next big setup and it is hard to come in to a new setup and make a impact. We all need to welcoming him with all of us so ill be the first MUFC make a impact take your team were no one could dream and show everyone why your a good manager.
I may hit the nail on the head when he quits but hope he dose not as it is a forum manager.

basically yeah online times have been squiffy at best of late and first time ive actually been in a position to bid let alone have a serious chance of getting so just went all out on him just incase there was any last minute vultures when i weren't online for some reason
only about 4 players as united are pretty strong anyway's plus all i normally do is buy loads of riser's but thought seen as i hit it getting united i'd leave anyone under 90 for the "smaller clubs" as they wouldn't make my first team bench and certainly wouldn't start til they rose pretty high and last thing you want in a good setup is the big clubs swarming all the talent up

Nottingham Forest looking to beat Derby to push for a play off spot.

    Steve Bruce sacked

Recent signings Clichy, Pienaar and Tosic looking to push Nottingham Forest up the league tables.
Forest manager says even a 1-0 win tonight could turn the teams fortunes.
"All i ask of my players tonight are to push for a one goal win. Depending on AFC Bournemouth and Luton towns results we could go to 8th spot."
"We are traveling to Pride Park tonight knowing in out minds that defeat isn't a option for us. We have to come away from this game with something to build on. I have signed Clichy Pienaar and Tosic, the down side is Pienaar is out of tonight's match with a bruised shin."
"The Footballing world is still mourning the loss of Gary Speed, so tonight's match we will be dedicating to the former Welsh manager. The boys will be wearing the black armbands and we will hold a minitues silence in the dressing room before the match."
We are still looking to get player exchange deals into motion with Maicon and Bajrami still on offer. Emmanuel-Thomas may well be leaving us tomorrow to bring in another youngish talent, but we still wait to hear whether the deal is to be completed."
The South Londoner then turned his attention to a recent report.
'It's a shame to see how little press coverage we get these days. At one point we used to peak at over 10 full articles a day, but since I returned from my time away with Paris and Jay most people appear to have gone incredibly press shy."
"It's not a case of going press shy, "Sir" Sean just doesn't not what hard work is. I prefer to spend time with the team than rush into a press conference to tell the media what they already no, and when i'm not working with the team in training and team building sessions. We recently had a Ebay auction for three signed shirts, Ryan Shawcross, Jonathan Cristaldo and Rory Delap all signing there shirts. I'm proud to announce we raised £3,000. One hundred percent of the £3,000 was then donated to children in need."
"I hope to take time out of my busy schedule to speak to you again soon, but now I have a meeting to attend, feel free to speculate on that as much as you like"
The manager then rushed off to meet with the Nottingham Forest Owners.

I'm interested in this if it opens tonight as it would be the perfect excuse to avoid studying
Still can't quite believe that SM will open 9/10 new EC's in one day though...is this normal?
Just doesn't make good business sense because as some folk have said I could have got a free Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea today if I was that way inclined, but hey maybe SM are doing it for the fans and not for the cash....!?

Back then I guess there were plenty for whom 106 was their undisputed no.1 EC, but now most of the guys seem to be in all the big EC's I suppose time and loyalties are spread thinner than ever - not just 5579 now there's 7777, 7046, 7345, 2933 etc etc and that's just the EC's.
Also if the glory days were 2 years ago folk are 2 years older now, and especially for the younger 'uns 2 years can mean big changes and more non-SM related responsibilities.
You could argue what's (slowly) happening with 106 is what has already happened with EC1 - people love their clubs as they've had them so long (4/5 years in a lot of cases!) so despite not having as much time to post anymore they never quit them, meaning no new blood enters the gameworld to up the post count.
I guess it depends on whether you want long-standing managers who you've known for ages but who don't post as much vs newer, possibly younger managers who will be more inclined to post - there's a balance to be struck to keep the community feel AND the M/R thread alive but everyone will have a different idea of what the right ratio of that would be.

but he has racked up loads of appearance's in Panama before the move and is a full international aswell.
thought I'd take the chance at 280k.
Signed a new contract last season with Arsenal afetr attracting interest from Milan and Chelsea, hoping he can make the breakthrough as he seems very highly thought of at Arsenal.
described as the new Sergio Aguero and linked with Real and Barca.........happy to have captured him

all happening at hereford, never before has so much happened between seasons.
the chairman returned yesterday an after a long meeting last night several things have emerged.
the huge wage bill that i have lumbered the club with is ok, after all its his fault leaving me to sign players while he was in greece.
he did come back with enough sponsorship, not only to keep the 3 tea huts open for every game but also build a 4th one in the east stand.
the reason behind this is that he has brought home a greek family back with him, he says its to run 2 of the tea huts but i know its to get a housekeeper and gardener at his mansion.
this is going to lead to chaos with the catering , with the current caterers from eastern europe, i dont see how they will be happy to share the tea huts, especially when the greek daughter ( 17 y.o. donna) has her kebabs on show.
better news in the office, old maud has been on a computer course and passed, the chairman has now given the club a computer, commodore 64 i think its called. this means fans can now buy tickets over the internet, maud has just told me we have now sold 73,850 season tickets so i think there might be a settling in period here before we make anymore press releases.
.......and fred has got the job of building the 4th tea hut, so i will get a nice backhander if the chairman ever pays him.

    Division 4 Awards

Okay, let’s see how many of these I can squeeze in before the season begins (not many the way things are looking, with both the kids and the missus playing up, but the rest will follow soon…). First up, division 4 and as usual I’ll chuck in the forum awards as we go along through the divisions. Voting was down considerably on last year’s record showing, with 21 of the 80 managers voting (down from season 2’s balmy 45). That shows in the number of votes for the winners. To be fair we’ve had such a huge influx of new (and old) blood of late that explains a lot of it. I also thought that interest may have been waning somewhat, but seeing how bouncing the M/R thread has been I was clearly wrong there! Okay, on with the division 4 awards, as before just scroll down for each one…

More Playoff Agony for the Bluebirds

Despite Cardiff missing out on promotion via the play-offs for the last 2 years on the bounce, the fans were as optimistic as ever as they believed another trip to Wembley was on the cards. As stated before the game, Cardiff had brushed aside this Palace team twice this term. The side that Cardiff put out was the best available, with the exception of an unfit Darren Bent.
The first half was dominated by the hosts. They pressed the ball when they didn't have it & created ample opportunity to get the opener. The main culprit was Jamie O'Hara. The midfielder missed 2 open goals in the closing stages of the first half, much to the fans dismay.

Palace's manager Machine must have said something at half time as they came out fighting. They controlled the tempo & started to make things happen. Lucas was key as everything went through him. The changes in the 60th minute were vital. These fresh legs added impetus & now they could really take the game to Cardiff. They won a corner after a swift counter-attacking move. Uncertainty in the Cardiff box meant a huge scramble resulting in the ball ricocheting off Daniele Bonera & into the net. Even though Daley Blind's stupid sending off, they managed to hold on & now face Leeds in the play-off final.

    - Darren Hancock, Cardiff City manager.

ANTI LAUDER DEMO EXPLODES IN G.A.S.H VIOLENCE

Younis Khan Writes.... Controversial Rotherham boss Stewart Lauder was left reeling today after an anti 3-5-2 demonstration at the clubs Don Valley stadium turned sour. Lauder has become somewhat of a hate figure of late for the faith based football community after publicly espousing the virtues of the discredited 3-5-2 formation, and in-particular his loud crowing after Rotherhams recent 3-0 victory over Shorpe. The demonstration which attracted over 200 members of the 'Godly against soccer heresy' ( G.A.S.H), the Shorpe based direct action group had started peacefully with prayers and hymns and a good natured sit down protest outside the stadium, but tempers frayed with the arrival of a grinning Lauder. With the increasingly hostile crowd attempting to burn an effigy of the committed 3-5-2er the unrepentant Lauder poured fuel on the fire by raising his middle index finger in the direction of the mob. Enraged by the Scotsman’s clear provocation the G.A.S.H supporters surged forward and amid a sea of flailing crucifixes, the substantial police cordon struggled to hold back the crazed Christians as they attempted to storm the stadium gates. For his part the clearly terrified Lauder barely made it into the ground and as he made a dash for the safety of the nearby ticket office was struck not once but twice by rotten eggs thrown by the baying protestors. Stunned by the impact the kilted Lauder lurched into the ground but was heard to cry ‘ Och tha smell, I canne take da smell’. With the embarrassed boss cowering inside the ground, the police finally restored order and after a two hour long stand-off the simmering crowd dispersed.

A reeling Stewart Lauder and furious members of G.A.S.H

Rotherham police have confirmed they made 7 arrests for public order offences and several of their officers received hospital treatment for minor injuries, nevertheless protest organiser Herbert Cumquat 87, was unrepentant and this afternoon went on the record to blame the heavy handed tactics of Rotherham Police and the provocative actions of Lauder for the ugly scenes. Speaking from outside Rotherham police station an angry Cumquat raged…

:)Many Thanks to my good friend Adam EFC for excellent work on the shirt

Anything that reduces the emphasis on quick-fix stock market tactics and rewards patient long-term planning is good in my book as it promotes good management

Sweet jaybus and the little orphans!!!!!!!!!
    Manchester United......
    At Old Trafford.......
They played Van Der Sar, Rafael, Evra, O'Shea, Ferdinand, Scholes, Carrick, Fletcher, Rooney, Hargreaves, Nani
I Only went and beat them!!!!!!!!! Not just brat them, drubbed em 4-0!!!! That's 4-0!!!!! Incredible and one of my best SM results.
Labyad the hero with a hatrick, I went 4-5-1 ultra defensive and hitting em on the break, weirdly they went 4-5-1 as well, stats were basically even but somehow claimed a very, very famous victory.
Sorry Dom and Sarge, what was that you were saying - it's all gone quiet over there!
Get the jeffin in, ya dancer!
