  1. Re: An Idea Most Scouts Won't Like I like this one... would be a great way to make sure people see the talent in players before they sign them based on their stats... and this doesn't stop smaller teams from building good sides. it just takes more time this way ..making it more realistic. You have to be more picky about your signings ...Atleast make it available for custom setups. Turn it on only if you wish.
  2. Re: Who's SM Forum's Arsene Wenger? if you are looking for the Wenger here then you have to look beyond youth squads...Apart from the insistence on youth you also expect attractive attacking fast tempo tactics , unwillingness to spend big on established players and sticking to old principles of football. You don't get to see many like that. In Arsene we trust.

    Match bug?

Re: Match bug? That small bug ( if you can call it one ) has been around for as long as I can remember... just ignore it and move on.

  6. Re: World Champ 1 Manchester City would kick off their seasons with a friendly against Juventus tonight. "we hope to give few of the reserves a chance before the league starts to see what they can do and try out few of the players at new roles"
  7. Re: Spanish Ratings I surely expected Cazorla to be a 92 by the end of next changes. Knowing the way SM does these changes, it was perhaps one change too soon. But it was just a matter of time. He is 92 class. Had Silva been still playing and had his rise to 93 then I'm sure it would've made perfect sense to see Silva 93, Cazorla 92, Arteta 91. David Villa going up- I think I have to agree with this one. Toni missed out his 95 last season because Bayern doesn't play CL football. Though Valencia don't play in Champions League either, they are on top of La Liga which is of much higher standard than Bundesliga. Add to it Villa's brilliant form with club this season and in the Euros. Also he was brought down from a 95 towards the end of last season

  11. Re: Spanish Ratings He has been good..He should go up by 1..
  12. Re: World Champ 1 The city Chairman has come out to share a word of applause for the works of the young manager.. " We always knew he was the right man for the job and now in two full seasons with the club he has taken us from third division anonymity to top division football. We've improved on and off the field..He's someone who prefers to do things the Wenger's way..we have some incredible teens who can make the step up soon. As a Chairman, its an easy place to be in. " The manager Alvin couldn't hide his joy either. " ..Feels great to be back to back runners-up . The club, the fans and the players are all looking forward to play first division football in this elite setup. There are some excellent clubs and smart managers in this league. We are looking to go with a new style of play this season, something we haven't tried a lot in the past. But that depends on we if can get the right players for it" ------------------------------------- Following the promotion, City captain Distin has been asking for a huge increase in his wages. The player whose contract expired a week ago has been temporarily offered a new contract . He would receive an additional 35k ,taking him to 57 k a week, making him the highest paid player in the club. " His wage demands are fair considering he has been at the club for 8 seasons now and has been one of the best performers for the club over these years. But we have a wage policy at the club and if suitable buyers arrive we would consider. He's asking for wages just above 2 M a season and we would rather let him go. we are looking to swap him for a full back". "If Distin is to leave we haven't decided who would receive the armband from him. we had expected Distin to stick around for another couple of seasons and expected young Hernanes to eventually take over that role from him. But now its between him, Ibagaza and Diego Lopez"
  13. Re: When you get caught in the quicksand! Thanks smartdoc..just saw this morning that my chairman has bought a player on a free transfer as one of my players had resigned at the end of the season to bring my squad size down to 17. Now I have 18 players. So I was wondering why SM can't do the same thing when a club gets torn between maintaining minimum 18 and selling a few to clear the debt... the chairman can bring in the extra player and we are no longer in the deadlock.. Anyway luckily for me I have 1 M in my account now....the math doesn't work out right..a million in cash injection and another 200 k in season tickets would still leave me with 1.2 M debt...but I don't mind
  14. Re: Rick VAN WOLFSWINKEL This guy seems to be a huge prospect...here's something I read about him " 19-year-old striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel made his debut for Vitesse at the end of last season and is quickly developing into one of Holland’s most promising strikers. The striker is quick, strong on the ball and has a good individual action. Add his ability to find the net quite easily to these ingredients and the Vitesse striker has everything a striker needs to succeed at the highest level. "
  15. Re: When you get caught in the quicksand! Just been in the club for a month , its a Hartlepool side in EC 2, 17 players at an average rating of 74, an average age of 28, and a stadium size of 7.6 k ..but none of that concerns me.. A good manager can still turn things around..but I can't buy any players ( because the club is in debt ) neither can I sell anyone to raise any money (because I'm below my squad minimum of 18)...So there's nothing that can be done because of the game rules in place. clubs poorly managed should have no excuses. But in real life you can always make changes to see where that takes you, for the better or worse!..
  16. Didn't know where to post this.. Recently took over a fourth division bottom of the table side in an old English setup for the sake of adventure..the club has a debt around 2.5 M and the small ground wouldn't bring you a lot in cash either. But you can't sell any players from your side because they are already with the minimum 18 and add to that another one of them would hang up his boot at the end of the season. I have to stay out of debt to bid for players and get the squad size up ..I have to get my nose up above just for a while ..but for that you must sell players to cancel the debt. you just tend to sink further in..you're pulled in harder than ever..there's no way out..you're caught in the quicksand..And you know things won't just sort out own their own. That cash injection I'm counting on might not even cover the debt we're in. So what happens to such clubs?? SM has to do something about this..something to convince managers that the side can be rescued ...perhaps SMFA can loan out some cash in case a manager has the courage to stick with such clubs long enough... Because eventually quite a few clubs in the English setups are bound to go down that road...leaving them unmanaged and undesirable!
  17. Re: World Champ 1 After the midweek game, Teb's Olympiacos and city continue to stay level on points, though the Greek side are ahead on goal difference. "Our squad lacks the depth for playoffs and Gouffran and Cigarini have already been ruled out for the rest of the season. So for us the best chance lies in winning a spot outright! We are almost certain to make atleast the playoffs. We would like to win the next game. If we don't, then we'll be in a place where we'll have to decide if we should rest few players before the playoffs. That would be a tough choice to make and we would perhaps go for an automatic promotion, if we have a realistic chance to go above the Greek outfit on the last day. They are an organized side and are fairly consistent and that is what concerns me. Its hard to see them lose points this week" " It would be amazing to win back to back promotions and it would be great for the fans to see us play top-flight football next season. We were quite low in the table halfway into the season and we've shown great character to be where we are now...quite like what we had last season, except we were playing lot more attractive football then. The next season would see few players leave .But in Busquets , Rafael silva and Coquelin we have exactly the players we were looking for."
  18. Re: Who to keep/sell from this huge squad ???? I didn't look at ones with TB, If you are ready to make some bold choices to trim down your squad- Martin Bravo Tom Hiarej Barzagli Luca Toni Vormer Galvan Muratori Sunu cudicini Lamah Zizov Donno about a few like kayali Toski, Rajalakso, Gebhart , Idabdelhay
  19. Re: Sissoko for De La Red De La Red definitely..has been playing more than I thought he would, thanks to Madrid injury crisis..He has always impressed me. But might not still make a 90 this time.. SM might do it gradually as in the case of Marcelo last time. But good deal anyway
  20. Re: Italian Ratings Molinaro has been terrible..for some reason Ranieri still plays him... and no one knows why But De Ceglie took over that role in the last few games..Molinaro should definitely not rise.
  21. Re: Forumer Of The Year 2008 - 1st Round Group B Gizb didn't go through?? ..I didn't know this poll got over...you'd have sure got my vote mate..I'm a bit late I guess. I thought you would go all the way to the final four.. I think we need more people like you...with exceptional knowledge in football from a region and not the ones who have to look up stats to find a better player ( something we are all guilty of at times )..thats who we call a scout in real life.. also a great forumer
  22. Re: The Big Risers From All Over Europe I don't know where you get those stats...he's played more than that...4 starts in La liga and came on as a sub in the game against Betis. That is five out of six ..this boy is here to stay! .. I think Barcelona should let Yaya Toure leave for good cash next season and let the kid take over that role permanently ...and I'd say Juan Mata is most likely to get an 89 this time. I don't see any reason why he shouldn't
  23. Re: Italian Ratings Are you sure about this Teb...because I have the Juve duo certain for a rise... +1 De Ceglie and +1/+2 for Marchisio Marchisio ' date=' in my opinion has been one of the most solid among the ones in the center of the midfield for Juve and would play more before the Italian ratings De Ceglie seems to have finally replaced the struggling molinaro. +1 for him Infact I'd personally put these two up at 88. But that's just my opinion you shouldn't have sold Santacroce. Despite couple of poor performances and 2 red cards, I'd still put him up +1... and he has been called up to the national side ... he was close to an 88 last time and if he starts for italy , he'd be pushing for 89 by SM rules...though I'd only give him +1
