Baseball Furie reacted to Hesse in An observation (or a whinge as some might say!)
First of all I will start by admitting that I am a Noobie to Soccermanager and the whole forum thing, so I would ask you all to treat me gently and take this thread in the spirit in which it is intended, and not as an attempt by me to flame other forum users. All I am doing is making an observation in the hope that many people read it and just bear it in mind before posting certain threads.
    So here goes...........
My observation lies in the Player help and discussion threads. They certainly have their place in the game, which I feel is to help players with small clubs and budgets to find out about up and coming talent so that they can make investments to sell these players on later at a profit, and hence make the small team competitive. Also they can be used for the larger sides to find out about the same said talent if they are looking to invest for the future. I will admit that as a manager of a small club (Brentford in Division 4), I myself have both started threads for advice on such players, and followed the advice of more experienced players, and those that spend much time and effort scouting to build my squad with such players.
I am getting to a point (honest)........
Where I feel these forums are getting misused are where numerous threads are started to discuss the transfer deals of established world class players. I have lost count of how many threads there are with seemingly stupid questions like "should I trade Henry for Ronaldino?" (I have made this one up before anyone takes offence). These are all questions about players who are well known on the world stage, and I think if you're asking questions like this the real question you should be asking yourself is "Who is playing this game, me or the people giving me advice on the forums?" If the answer is the latter, then another question springs to mind; "Why am I playing this game at all?" At the end of the day, (to use a football euphamism) if you can't make an informed decision based on your knowledge of our media based sport, then it really is time to look at your ability to play this game.
As I said, I'm not looking to flame anybody; I just wanted to present the arguement in a constructive manner for those playing the game for what it is; a management sim. I'm also trying not to take the game too seriously, because it is that too..........only a game. All I'm asking is that maybe people think for themselves once in a while before filling the forums with these seemingly endless and monotonous threads.

    We Will Rise Back Up

Internazionale boss Mitu Ahmed said that the loss against Juventus was simply because of the morale and mis-positioning of the players. Crespo, Ibrahamovic, Suazo and Cordoba went on the field looking content; All four of these players looked favourites to leave Giuseppe Meazza. Ahmed told the Inter Milan website; "It's a very disappointing loss, losing 5-3 in a game like this isn't good. We had the better team, but I had to play them in the least favoured positions as we didn't have enough. This is why I've been banging on and on about us needing Attacking midfielders or us needing central midfielders. Because if we don't have them, then we will lose." He also added; "Luckily for us this is just the first game, we have 37 more games remaining, and in these games we will show the nation and critics why we are the Italian champions."
Inter Milan lost to Juventus 5-3 tonight, which puts the Italian champions 17th; just above the relagtion spot. Last minute loans left Inter with very little players to deal with. Mohamed Zidan went to Siena, Jarolim went to Brondby and Burdisso went to Lazio.
The giants face Reggina next, who don't have a manager and are lying just one spot above the champions. "We will give everything against them. We will attack and will hope to bag a few goals. Inter Milan don't look good at 17th. Being first is where they deserve to be."

An impressive 19,847 turned up at the Carlo Castellani this evening for Empoli versus Siena which saw the Siena faithful run out winners in a tight game.
Manager Sam Wainwright jokingly claimed: "This was the toughest game of the season so far."
AFCTU Jacko's Empoli lined up as:
    1. D BALLI
    2. L MARZORATTI
    3. V TOSTO
    4. A RAGGI
    5. N RIVAS
    6. L ANTONINI
    7. I VANNUCCHI
    8. D MORO
    9. M MACCARONE
    10. L SAUDATI
    11. J GAVILAN
While Siena's team line up was:
    1. A MANNINGER
    2. L ROSSETTINI
    3. D FICAGNA
    4. D PORTANOVA
    5. S LORIA
    6. P CODREA
    7. S REBROV
    8. T LOCATELLI
    9. M ZIDAN
    10. C BUCCHI
    11. S VERGASSOLA
    First Half:
Siena started the more energetic, when some brilliant work down the flank by Simone Loria leaves him in plenty of space, but his weak pass is easily intercepted. Siena tried again a few seconds later but a golden opportunity is wasted and Cristian Bucchi knows it!
Empoli got onto the counter attack and an in-swinging cross was met by a beautiful overhead kick by Vittorio Tosto, but goes just over the crossbar!
After 10 minutes Siena finally struck the first blow, Surely offside! But the flag stays down and Tomas Locatelli races through and takes full advantage of the dubious decision!

    Locatelli bags first...

Empoli tried getting back into the game numerous times and came close when a dangerous cross by Jaime Gavilan races across the mouth of the goal but nobody could manage to get a touch to it.
Siena could've doubled their lead not long after when Mohammed Zidan dragged his shot wide. The referee claims the Empoli defender got a touch on it and gives a corner, but the out swinging corner is headed By Zidan into the hands of Daniele Balli.
Siena finally struck again when a long ball over the defence is superbly controlled by Simone Loria who volleys past the motionless keeper! to give Siena a 2-0 lead after half an hour.
but Empoli reply instantly 30 seconds later when a terrible back-pass falls short and Davide Moro won't score an easier goal than that.
Just after the restart Siena thought they were in again when Simone Loria latched onto a through ball and raced towards the goal, but the linesman's flag stopped him in his tracks.
A few minutes later Siena try again with Zidan but a last ditch tackle by Jaime Gavilan wins the ball and is hoofed up the pitch.
Siena seemed to be all over Empoli in the last 10 minutes and with the final move of the half a cross from out wide falls to Mohammed Zidan who miss hits the volley.
    Half-time Analysis:
This game could go either way but the balance is slightly tipped towards Siena at the moment due to the lead they have. But Empoli aren't out of this yet.
    Second Half:
Almost straight from the kick off Empoli race up the field and a speculative chip by g is fumbled by the hapless keeper and rolls agonizingly over the line! and the keeper won't be happy with that.
Yet again Siena reply almost instantly when a brilliant long range shot from Zidan is blocked by the keeper only for Cristian Bucchi to finish! What a poachers goal! and Siena have the lead again! 3-2!

    Bucchi for me...

A few minutes later Empoli desperately try to drag themselves back into the game as Nelson Rivas looks up at the sky in disbelief as he fired his shot over the bar from six yards!
Empoli make a substitution as Luca Antonini gives way to Guillermo Giacomazzi.
Minutes later Empoli try again but this time Luca Saudati beats the offside trap but a poor shot lets him down and Empoli aren't having any luck this evening.
Seconds later the Siena keeper miss kicks it and Davide Moro follows up but places the right foot shot wide from twenty yards out.
Minutes later Empoli try again as Moro crosses it but this time Alex Manninger is quick off his line to clear the danger.
Siena's back four are getting brilliant experience in defending this evening.
Moro breaks through the defence but is brought down and the referee is left with no option Luca Rossettini has to go after bringing down the striker whilst being the last man.
Moro steps up to take the free kick and shoots but a fingertip save by Alex Manninger denies what would have been a lovely goal.
Empoli now make there 2nd and final substitutions as Massimo Maccarone and Ighli Vannucchi are replaced by Nicola Pozzi and Antonio Busce.
Siena attack again and the cross from Locatelli is cleared by Nelson Vivas and Empoli attack again and Moro strikes it and Alex Manninger didn't see the shot but some how manages to save it and that could be the important incident in the result of this game and it is! the final whistle has gone and Sam Wainwright celebrates his first win as Siena manager!
So from me at the Carlo Castellani goodnight!

Good opening day win, Philp is happy!

    Vitesse Arnhem 0-2 Ajax
Ajax were strong favourites going into the match for several reasons. Vitesse had no manager, therefore meant that no transfers came into the club, and their top players were able to leave for bargain prices. Ajax squad overall, and starting eleven was also much superior to that of Arnhem.
    ---
In the early exchanges, Dutch supremo Klaas-Jan Huntelaar looked sharp, striking the woodwork after only four minutes. Vitesse looked dangerous o the break, however, whenever threatened Maarten Stekelenburg was more than equal to the efforts. The breakthrough came on 32 minutes, as new signing Cassio Lincoln had his deflected shot fly past Vitesse keeper Velthuizen.
    ---

((Lincoln got the first goal of Ajax's campaign, but his fine performance was marred by his 50th minut dismissal. After kicking the ball away in disgust, Lincoln verbally abused referee Daniel Vonk and was told to go))
    ---
Into the second half, and although Ajax were short of a man in midfield, they continued to dominate proceedings inside the Gelredome. It seemed imminent that the second goal was on its way, and it finally came from an Ajax forward on 69 minutes. All the talk was of Huntelaar, yet it was his strike partner Luis Suarez who beat two defenders and finished.
    ---

((Youngster Suarez, put in a man's performance today and will next week again, keep out Alberto Luque from the eleven. Luque was thought to have been given the nod, but Luis took advantage and gained a 9/10))
    ---
Ajax boss Philp was overjoyed to leave Arnhem with three points and also a clean sheet. ''We always had faith in Luis and I had no doubt he was capable of a performance like that, as he has shown before. Alberto will get his chance, and will just have to be patient. I am not going to change a winning team am I?''
    ---
    Ajax - Club Brugge
Ajax's next league tie, is a home encounter with another unmanaged side, this time in the form of Club Brugge. The Belgians lost 2-0 at home tonight against Standard Liege, and Ajax will fancy their chances, especially with home advantage. ''They have a particularly strong back line, and a reasonably talented midfield. But they will struggle to score. We will take three points. I am sure of it. No changes in my team for this match,'' said Ross Philp. He has been highlighted for his arrogant, Jose Mourinho-like attitude so far in Holland. The Ajax fans, say, he is our special one!
    'He is our special one'

GAZLAD HAPPY WITH FIRST GAME OF SEASON
Gazlad is said to be happy after his Deportivo drew 1-1 with Real Murcia. It is not a bad start to the season atleast we have a point on the table, i can now see where we are strong and weak..
Deportivo took an early lead 3mins RIKI is left clear on goal and finishes with ease, great start murcia didn't know what hit them and deportivo was pressing murcia onto the back foot, murcia keeper kept the scoreline down with excellent keeping, in the second half it went bad to worse for deportivo as RIKI got his marching orders for verbal abuse and kicking the ball awayn the 49th min- 50th min murcia found themselves level as BAIANO crashes an header into the back of the net, as murcia tried to to put deportivo under pressure with there extra man deportivo stood strong with coloccini starting to boss the midfield as the match was coming to an end the players started to tire due to a fast pass game..
I can't grumble stated gazlad i'm happy with tonites result going down to 10 men and still fight just shows the attitude of the players, riki will be in my office tomorrow to explain why he swore at the ref and kicked the ball away, that was the turning pointas i felt we had the upper game till then i felt we could have scored more if we had 11 men..

Empoli lose out 3-2 to Siena on the opening day. Jacko had this to say
"I am very disappointed. Obviously nothing is decided after one game but it's always nice to get off to a good start in a league season and we had a great opportunity to do that today against what is with all due respect a limited Siena team. This is the kind of team we need to beat, and whilst we may have deserved something out of the game if you defend like that anything can happen!"
Empoli travel to Fiorentina for a tough match on wednesday, and need something to start their season

    WE'RE NOT READY

Siena Manager Sam Wainwright this morning insisted that his team is not ready to take on the world.
So far Siena have only made one signing. Shaun Wright-Phillips joined the Italians from Chelsea for a fee of around £16,000,000.
Siena travel to Carlo Castellani to take on Empoli this evening and will be hoping for a win.
Sam claimed: "We have bought in Shaun but due to the idiotic prices given by some managers for player's we have been forced to withdraw half of our players off the shortlist. It's really irritating with stupid prices but then again the managers will hopefully learn from this."

Lazio and Switzerland superstar Valon Behrami will join Siena in the morning for a fee of around £8,500,000.
Valon was listed by Lazio boss Tom Sinar and decided a move to Siena was a good idea. Sam Wainwright said: "Tom's a good friend and when I saw Valon available I didn't hesitate. I think it was the right move bring Henk here too because Heracles have actually gone into debt now."

Sampdoria's Daniele Franceschini is expected to join Siena as well tomorrow for a fee of around £3,500,000. Ant Martignetti has placed Franceschini on the transfer list and Siena have swooped in with a bid for the Sampdoria Midfielder, Martignetti, another friend of Wainwright's is a good manager at Sampdoria winning various league titles and trophies and Wainwright hopes he can tempt Franceschini to the Artemio Franchi.
    Exclusive: Shaun Wright-Phillips
Q: Hi Shaun. You joined Siena this week...was it because of the lack of first team games at Chelsea?
A: Well in a nutshell yeah because I felt left out at Chelsea, but all credit to the manager for letting me leave he understood the situation brilliantly and I'd like to thank him for that.
Q: Do you think joining Siena you can achieve great things?
A: Yes. They are a smaller club than Chelsea but they offer more as in first team opportunities and can't wait to get playing.
Q: Your not playing tonight, why?
A: Ah I picked up an injury in training on Thursday and it's just a little tweak but I should be fine for Wednesday.

Q: Behrami joins tomorrow. Are you happy at that?
A: well the caliber of the player is outstanding so i look forward to playing on his team soon as he is an International star and a brilliant controller of the ball. I heard the manager is bringing or attempting to bring in better players already but the team morale I find is great at the moment and can't wait to play.
Q: and finally where do you think you will finish this season?
A: I'd like to say top of the table but it's a bit optimistic but we shall push hard for the wins this season and I'm really looking forward to taking on the Serie A going to be good fun.

    TRACTORS UP GEAR

Ipswich needed to pull off an important win 3 days after their dismal defeat to high flyer's Cardiff City.
Ipswich have found it easy to score all season with James Beattie their top scorer with 12 and on loan striker Dean Ashton and Stefan Beinlich not too far behind both on 11 goals.
    First Half:
Coventry started well at Portman road when an in-swinging cross from Jay Tabb was mis kicked by Leon McKenzie within 40 seconds of the game.
The next attack didn't come until the 9th minute where Jay Tabb pulled off a stunning shot from 35 yards out only to be tipped over by Rolando Cristanté.
Ipswich finally broke when Jaime Peters fed in James Beattie but was brought down 5 yards from the area and as a result, Edgar Castillo was booked for kicking the ball away in disgust. Enrico Chiesa steps up to take the free kick but places the left footed shot just wide of the goal but the keeper was beaten.
Ipswich broke again when Dario Botinelli was crushed under a challenge by Chiesa but the referee waved play on and Chiesa attacked and slotted the ball under the keeper and Ipswich had the lead.
Coventry restarted very strong as McKenzie ran from the kick off to the area but blasted the ball well over and Cristanté laughed in his face. The Sky Blues were trying though and finally the breakthrough came for Coventry as Kevin Mirallas struck a beautiful shot from 20 yards across the post and into the back of the net. 1-1 and it's a fairly equal game.
    Half Time Analysis:
Ipswich look good with possession, but judging on shots and chances, this game could go either way as both teams haven't took there chances as they should have.
    Second Half:
Ipswich attacked almost instantly from the restart when James Beattie crosses the ball in and Peters managed to get his head on it but it was pushed over the bar for a corner. Peters stepped up for the corner, boxed it and James Beattie gets on the end of it and it beats the keeper for 2-1 to Ipswich town and what a start to the second half for the Tractor Boys.
Gaizka Mendieta looks absolutely fantastic today as he beats 3 players to get the cross in but unfortunately it's too deep. But the ball is dragged back into play by Fabio Caserta who crosses the ball back and Mendieta sprints in and volley's it! but Andy Marshall spectacularly tips it over the bar. Ipswich look increasingly dangerous as Mendieta attacks again but is tackled dangerously by a backtracking Leon McKenzie.
Beattie takes it off Jay Tabb's toe in the 55th minute and sprints towards goal and shoots but the keeper palms it away straight to Chiesa in front of an open goal! but skies it! disbelief on the face of Enrico Chiesa and manager Sam Wainwright.
Dario Botinelli attacks yet again for Coventry but Thomas Helveg throws all his weight at Botinelli and it's a fair tackle but Botinelli has stayed down and it looks painful.
Ipswich restart with it as Beattie shimmy's around the defender but puts his shot wide, it could at least be 6-2 by now.
Coventry attack as Botinelli heads the ball down only to be cleared by José Calvo and Dario Passoni is onside from the clearance as Passoni runs 40-50 yards and slots it under the keeper! 3-1 to Ipswich Town.
Coventry attack yet again as McKenzie blasts it and what a save by Rolando Cristanté and the Ipswich fans applaud a wonderful display of acrobatics. McKenzie takes the corner too and Jay Tabb gets his head on it and it comes back off the bar and Tabb heads it again! and this time Cristanté couldn't get his fingers to it 3-2 now and maybe a shock turnaround for Coventry City.

Ipswich respond almost instantly again as a cross from Calvo comes to Mendieta at 12 yards out and he strikes it! but it's straight into the arms of keeper Andy Marshall.
Minutes later Coventry get a corner and it could be oh so very important as Tabb crosses it Botinelli rises to it with a spectacular overhead kick but it flies over the cross bar and the home fans cheer.
Ipswich attack again with yet another cross from Calvo and Chiesa gets his head to it but it shaves the top of the bar and Ipswich could have bagged a cricket score today.
Ipswich move up the field as Helveg makes a fantastic run down the right wing but is hassled into making an early cross by Leon McKenzie but the final ball was poor and straight into the arms of the keeper.
Finally in the 88th minute Ipswich put the game to bed as Fabio Caserta pulls off a stunning 30 yard shot and into the top corner to finish the Sky Blues off for good and 4-2 looks a fair result.
    Full Time Report:
Ipswich came off victorious yet again this season with James Beattie performing to his best ability yet again and Man of The Match couldn't have gone to a more worthy player on the pitch today.

It was good, albeit a bit unorganised.
We need runners for each night i.e. someone who is in charge of each event. For example, if I decided to run the quiz night (which I won't due to my preoccupations outside of SM) I would set up a format, and each week get questions to ask. Maybe set up a points/team format too.
    Just a suggestion.
    Stay sexy.
