Heracles Almelo have a tough season ahead of them but manager Sam Wainwright is confident that his team can avoid the bottom half of the table. Today the Heracles Headlines brings an exclusive of manager and men.
Since the campaign started on Saturday, Wainwright has managed to lure 6 players to the club spending no more than £12,000,000. The first to arrive at the club was Jeremie Aliadiere who has joined on a season longs loan from Tom Greenfield's Middlesbrough. Wainwright said: "Jeremie is a very talented guy and I feel with his experience in the premiership he can bring a massive amount of talent to Heracles this season."
Second of those to arrive was Santiago Solarí who also joined on loan this time from Mitu Ahmed's Internazionale also for a season loan. Assistant coach Henk Ten Cate who pulled off the deal said: "Mitu was very professional and smart about the move and I think Santiago will be essential to our games this season."
The 3rd player to join the team was Blackburn's out of favour striker Jason Roberts. Roberts, who turns 30 in 3 months said to Heracles Headlines : "It's a delight to play for a team in a country you have not gained any experience in before and I hope to show my true playing style and love of football this season and however many seasons i spend with Heracles."
4th in line was West Ham midfielder Hayden Mullins. Mullins joined for a fee around £4,000,000 on Sunday morning and was said to be: "absolutely ecstatic" about playing for a new club: "I was out of favour at West Ham and it was obvious they did not want me around anymore and Heracles came in with a lifeline and I could not refuse."
5th player on the list to join was Sporting Bragha's Vitor Castanheira for a fee of around £3,500,000 also on Sunday morning. The deal for Castanheira was accepted almost instantly after the offer had been made for the Portuguese veteran. Castanheira replied with: "I am looking forward to the new experience and I didn't enjoy my time at Bragha but i already feel at home here at Almelo."
The 6th and final installment for the moment was ex Chelsea and Newcastle defender Celestine Babayaro who is on loan at Almelo for the rest of the season through another fine piece of work from Ten Cate. Henk said: "It was a surprise when Tom Eesha said yes to the deal and we look forward to him playing on Saturday."
Heracles out of favour players Kwame Quansah and Kai Michalke were both put on the transfer list last night as Ten Cate says that they are not included in the new team shape and selling Quansah will help for funds.

Out of Favour...Quansah and Michalke "Not Wanted"

In an Exclusive Interview with manager Sam Wainwright and new boy Hayden Mullins, Headlines finds out more...
First off is manager Sam Wainwright
Q: Hey Sam. When you joined Heracles, what were the things on your mind at the time and what were your plans?
A: Well when I joined Heracles, the first thing I did was a team meeting to boost the morale of the players with getting a new boss and all, we all got to know each other a little better and in my case I found the team I want to perform with.
Q: You signed 6 players in the space of two days, which is quite a lot of players considering how low your budget was, do you think these signings will help you reach your goal?
A: Ofcourse I thought they would help the team otherwise I wouldn't have tried to sign them in the first place, Henk recommended some players such as Babayaro, Santiago and Jason and I went with his opinions and they were pleased to join which I am happy to say, I think we went for experience in all fairness but the next signings will be fresh talent and hopefully players with a high reputation too.
Q: Quansah and Michalke have both been transfer listed due to apparently "not being involved" in the new plans this season is this true?
A: Partially, we are losing funds pretty darn fast and we need to flog some of our best players to get that cash back, it happened with Leeds United in 2003, it's happened with a few teams and we had to do something and sacrificing Kwame was not on my list but I feel for us to succeed it has to be done.
    Secondly is Hayden Mullins
Q: Hey Hayden, obviously the Eredivisie is a step down to the Premiership but how are you fitting in to life in the Netherlands?
A: I don't feel the move is a step down but rather a step up because when I joined the other day the Gaffer said I'm going to be an untouchable which is what I was far away from at West Ham it has to be said. Since I've been here the whole atmosphere of the team is absolutely awesome and it's like we have all known each other for years.
Q: When Heracles came calling what was your initial response?
A: Well straight away I said to the gaffer at West Ham that I'd like it if he accepted beings the manager put me on the transfer list anyway, but when Heracles were told yes I celebrated with my wife, kids and family and then I went on the Internet to find a house in Holland.
Q: You joined alongside with Jason Roberts and Vitor Castanheira, how have they fitted in to the team?
A: Well I've got to know Vitor really well since we joined and he is a great guy, Jase has been quiet but he is just fitting in i think we will all get used to the Dutch language soon enough but I feel it will be a bit harder for Vitor to pick up but as I said the morale of the team is absolutely immense and we all get along well.
Q: Do you know if anyone else will be joining the team?
A: I heard that Henk and Sam were chasing Manuel Rui Costa but it seems as thought the Benfica manager is extremely stubborn at this moment in time, but only time will tell to be honest with you.

    ...:THE DAILY DUTCH:...

The Dutch league gets underway this Saturday and with so many new managers we cannot wait for it to get underway, so we bring you the lowdown of the top teams in the league and the low down.

    Name: Ajax Amsterdam
    Manager: Ross Philp
    Stadium: Amsterdam Arena
    Recent Signings: Fernando Belluschi/River Plate : £10m + P/E, Jeremie Brechet/Sochaux :£12.3m.
Top Players: Jaap Stam, Klass Jan Huntelaar and Fernando Belluschi.
Lowdown: Ajax should be looking to win the Eredivisie this season with new and experienced manager Ross Philp taking charge. Ajax also expect to get to the Quarter finals of both the Dutch Shield and Dutch Cup. However Ajax have a tough group in the SMFA Champs Cup with Fenerbahçe, Lyon and Werder Bremen as the opponents, But for me should make it through the group stages. Huntelaar will be crucial to the Amsterdam outfit this season and needs to perform to his up most to help Ajax along.
    Predicted Eredivisie Position: 1st.

    Name: Anderlecht RSC
    Manager: Paul Thame
    Stadium: Constant Vanden Stock
    Recent Signings: N/A
Top Players: Mbark Boussoufa, Luca Biglia and Nicolas Frutos.
Lowdown: No signings so far for the Belgian outfit but Anderlecht have a strong and experienced manager in Paul Thame and will be looking to him to get the results this season. Put into the Eredivisie due to lack of teams in Belgium, Anderlecht will be looking for a top 4 position in the league. Anderlecht should also be looking for Quarter finals in both Domestic cups this season, but in the SMFA shield, their first game is against Leigh Auston's Hamburger SV and it could be an upset for the Belgian hopefuls.
    Predicted Eredivisie Position: 1st-4th.

    Name: FC Twente
    Manager: George Bush
    Stadium: Arke Stadion
Recent Signings: Lukasz Fabianski/Arsenal : Loan, Slobodan Rajkovic/PSV Eindhoven : Loan, Ismaël Aissati/PSV Eindhoven : Loan.
Top Players: Orlando Engelaar, Stijn Huysegems and Blaise N'Kufo.
Lowdown: FC Twente have got it tough this season and will be looking to avoid the bottom 5. With the loan signings of Rajkovic, Fabianski and Aissati, Twente will be hoping they can inject at least some talent into Twente's team. Manager George Clooney will have to turn this team upside down, sidewards and back around again to become championship contenders, but lets wait and see.
    Predicted Eredivisie Position: 11th

    Name: Heracles Almelo
    Manager: Sam Wainwright
    Stadium: Polman Stadion
    Recent Signings: Jason Roberts/Blackburn Rovers : £5.3m, Hayden Mullins/West Ham : £3.6m, Vitor Castanheira/Sporting Bragha : £2.6m, Santiago Solarí/Internazionale : Loan, Jeremie Aliadiere/Middlesbrough : Loan.
Top Players : Santiago Solarí, Jason Roberts and Hayden Mullins.
Lowdown: Almelo will have it tough this season with such a lack of first team talent within the squad. Wainwright decided to bring in Castanheira, Jeremie Aliadiere, Santiago Solarí, Jason Roberts and Hayden Mullins to strengthen parts of the team but for Almelo to get anywhere this season, Aliadiere, Roberts and Everton have to bag the goals when it matters. However it seems the defensive department needs strengthening badly, but only time will tell for the Dutch outfit. Could be a bet for cup chances though.
    Predicted Eredivisie Position: 7th

    Name: PSV Eindhoven
    Manager: Greig Spence
    Stadium: Phillips Stadion
    Recent Signings: Ludovic Magnin/VfB Stuttgart : £14m, Tal Ben Haim/Chelsea : £7m.
Top Players: Jefferson Farfan, Carlos Salcido and Timmy Simons.
Lowdown: Joint favorites in the Eredivisie alongside Ajax Amsterdam, PSV have joined forces with FC Twente tho help each other along this season and PSV look dangerous. With the signings of Magnin and Ben Haim, PSV's defense look powerful but perhaps lack talent up front. They will be looking for the Eredivisie title at the end of the season. PSV could also progress through the group stages of the SMFA Championship cup where they are up against Manchester United, Lazio and Dinamo Bucaresti. The two domestic cups are reachable for Eindhoven too and Spence will look to take them all this season.
    Predicted Eredivisie Position: 2nd.

    Independiente Announce New Manager

After bigger teams snubbed manager Tom Mills, Independiente - the Argentinian Champions - gave Mills a chance in management, and he's been very busy in the transfer market. Mills today said to Argentinian journalists from El Gossipo Daily that he aimed "to finish in the top two of the league, preferably champions, and win a domestic cup". He went on further to say "finishing in the top two means qualifying for the SMFA Champions Cup, and that's what this club needs." The new manager has already proven a hit with the majority of 'los Diablos Rojos' fans after his successes with Barcelona and Bayern Munich in other setups, but the language barrier has proved difficult. "I've already started Spanish lessons, but I still need an interpreter for the time being" - the interpreter being Jose Mourinho, who is also Mills' Assistant Manager.
Moving onto transfers, Mills has stated "although we already have a strong squad for the league we are in, with players such as German Denis and Daniel Montenegro, I still feel there are areas that need strengthening", and it wasn't long before Mills started doing just that. Overnight, Mills sealed deals for three top youngters and two major coups. The party started when young Serbian Heerenveen midfielder Miralem Sulejmani somehow managed to travel from north Holland to central Argentina in 90 minutes - proving his fitness and speed - to seal a deal for £2 million. Next up was Udinese and Chilean promising defensive midfielder Mauricio Isla, who was on the transfer list, for £600k. The last of the youngsters signed when underrated 20-year-old Russian goalkeeper Anton Shunin arrived from unmanaged Dinamo Moskva for a fee of around £2.25 million, providing back-up for young Argentine Fabian Assman - who was already at the club. Suddenly, Mills had a lucky bout of enlightenment at around 4am - when he needed a drink - and he checked on how things were progressing on the transfer scene. Mills hit the jackpot when he saw Racing Santander of Spain were unmanaged, the club at which future world-class Argentine defender Ezequiel Garay played for. Five hours and £16.25 million later, Garay had moved back to his homeland with Argentinian champions in what has to be the signing of the day. Mills also saw that shortlisted Chilean starlet Carlos Villaneuva - recently given the award for South American Young Player of the Year - was still yet to be bidded for, so Mills decided to bolster his midfield and attack with Villaneuva's signature for only £6.5 million along with reserve players Matias Oyola and Carlos Matheu from external club Audax Italiano.
Mills has stated that he would like a new right midfielder, a new central midfielder and possibly a new goalkeeper to complete his team, but with only £600k remaining from his original £29.3 million budget, he will need to sell players before he buys. Mills has announced that all 87 and below players are for sale at the right price.
The Independiente manager has also announced some names that he would trying to bring to Estadio Doble Visera in the positions he said he would be looking to fill.

Goalkeeper: Mills has stated that he is willing to use Argentine goalkeeper starlet Fabian Assman as part of a deal for any of the following keepers. The wanted goalkeepers are: Francisco Guillermo Ochoa, Craig Gordon, Juan Carrizo or Oscar Ustari. Mills has asked the managers of these players to contact him if they are willing to sell the goalkeeper in question.
Right Midfielder: Escudero Raul Garcia, Shaun Wright-Phillips or Pablo Zabaleta are the right-sided midfielders Mills has underlined as targets Again, Mills has asked the managers of these players to contact him if they'd like to negotiate a deal for the players stated.
Central Midfielder: Tom Mills has announced that he would like a player with a position description of CM or CM/DM, not AM, to play alongside the attacking genius of Daniel Montenegro. The players Mills has targeted to fill this role are: Leandro Somozo, Sergio Almiron or Julio Arca. Finally, and once again, Mills has asked the managers of these players to contact him if they'd like to negotiate a deal for these players.

So, even though he missed out on a supposed big club, Mills is very happy with life at Independiente, and after the signings he's already made, the fans seem delighted at their Chairman's only signing - the new manager. And with the first game of the season away at San Lorenzo next Saturday, Mills is hopeful of more signings arriving at Estadio Doble Visera, in an attempt to forge a championship-winning side.

New signing, Argentine starlet Ezequiel Garay, celebrates for his national side.

HERACLES ALMELO APPOINT NEW MANAGER AND ASSISTANT COACH.

Today Dutch outfit Heracles Almelo appointed two new faces to the club.
Firstly, New manager Sam Wainwright was appointed coach of the Eredivisie team at 17:21 GMT. He stated in the press conference that: "I will try to bring the most amount of possible silverware i can to the club and new players along with that to boost the teams support and we have now the full backing of the board and we shall see where we can go from here."
Secondly, Henk Ten Cate was appointed as assistant coach at Almelo. Ten Cate who has also worked at Chelsea and Ajax Amsterdam claimed: "Me and Sam cannot wait to get underway with the season both financially and physically on the pitch, we shall push the team to the limits but no further than they should be."
Heracles also today announced their new shirt sponsor for the season known as "Ten Cate". As you can see in the picture Horatio Hornpuffer (left), Jan Molby (Center) and Peter Piper are very pleased with the new sponsor and said "Ten Cate is a world famous firm, bigger than Disney and it is great to have their support for the club this season."

Heracles have also been busy in the transfer market straight away signing Jeremie Aliadiere on loan from Middlesbrough and Santiago Solarí on loan from Internazionale.
Tomorrow 3 players will be having Medicals at Almelo.
The first of them being Premiership veteran Jason Roberts who is joining Heracles from Blackburn for a fee of around £5,200,000. Roberts, who was unsettled at Ewood Park has claimed: "It's a perfect move, yes my first choice obviously wasn't the Netherlands but it's a chance all the same and will take it with both hands"
The second of the 3 is West Hams Hayden Mullins who will join for an undisclosed fee. Mullins stated: "same as what Jase said, it wasn't a first choice move but it's a top class team all the same"
The 3rd is a relatively unknown in these parts, but Vitor Castanheira of Sporting Bragha will join Almelo tomorrow. Castanheira claimed: "It is nice to be wanted once in a while and I will perform to my up most ability.

Baseball Furie reacted to kaka world player in Biggest "what Ifs" In Football, What if things happened differently?
Okay, sorry if this has been done, but I'm bored and just decided to think of a random topic. So, imagine some things in football - big or small, didn't happen, or happened differently. How do you think things would have changed - for better or worse? For example, I'm just watching England v. Germany from Euro '96 on the ESPN Classic channel here in the UK, and England have missed two chances from point-blank range in extra time (one of them was an open net, with Gascoigne - I think, missing the ball by about a centimetre), but what if they'd gone in? There would've been no penalties and it would've been a Czech-England final. Would England have been the 1996 European Champions? Here's another one: In the 2005 Champions League final, just seconds before Gerrard scored Liverpool's first goal, the linesman clearly waved the flag for offside, but the referee missed it. What would've happened if the ref had given offside? Liverpool certainly wouldn't have scored, and perhaps wouldn't have been inspired to make their comeback. Also, what about the Bosman ruling? Many transfers were influenced by that. Basically, let's just get a list going of events and stuff that could've made the footballing world different without them.

Baseball Furie reacted to Raz in international setup...
    Re: International Management
Hmm there has always been a few questions that have kept my cogs turning around this suggestion:
    1) When would the games be played?? There is already a very tight match schedule for most managers regarding club games, so it would certainly not be easy to find a slot for those managers who have stepped up to the international scene to play their international games?
    2) Would a national manager be able to just call up players from any side without the other manager giving their 'say so' ?
    3) In reference to the above (2) would injuries inflicted in international games cause players to be out for club games aswell? Or would it be totally inaffective to club games ie friendlies? If so this would be very unrealistic, but I can see it as the only way most managers would welcome the introduction of international management so that it wouldnt hinder their chances of success at club level aswell?
    4) Would it actually be better for a totally new game setup to be created that ran totally independant to other setups ie, gold / euro / eng champs? This way the above (point 3) would not be affected at all - and if called up for a job the manager would just get drafted into the country they were called up for - in the next available setup?
Just a few things I've thought of but I'm sure more will pop into my head, and I know international management is far away yet but thats what we are all here for - to keep the cogs in their brains ticking Thoughts on the above?
