  5. Re: Gateshead's rise t the top starts here LATE TAN GOAL RESCUES POINT Hereford 1 Gateshead 1 A late goal from J.Tan in the 81st minute rescued a point for Gateshead at Edgar Street against Hereford United, 'The Heed', who rested a few players after their thrilling 5-3 cup win v Gillingham in the 1st round of the English Shield, had plenty of chances to win the game(22) but rarely threatened the Hereford gk. They fell behind in the 29th minute when FEATHERSTONE curled a fantastic free kick inside the post after a foul by ov. Plenty of pressure followed by the tynesiders but it took till the 81st minute before it paid off, TAN scoring on his debut following good work from Offiong. In the post match conference the manager was happy with his sides still unbeaten side saying '3 games 10 goals scored for this young side which has just been put together and are still getting to know each other I can't help but being happy'

  8. Re: Official Gold Championship 177 Thread. GATESHEAD SHOCK GILLINGHAM IN CUP THE MACKEM SLAYER steered Gateshead to victory against Gillingham. Gateshead beat Gillingham 5 - 3 in a thrilling English Shield Round 1 encounter. Merchán scored a goal and was later voted Man of the Match for his performance. Mukendi and Piciollo were also amongst the goalscorers Well impressed with that, coming on the back of a 4-0 opening day win in the league.
  9. Re: Gateshead's rise t the top starts here FOUR-MIDABLE START FOR THE 'HEED. GATESHEAD 4 ALFRETON 0 It was smiles all over the International Stadium as the 'heed army' watched their side thrash hapless Alfreton 4-0 on the opening day of the season. Alfreton were simply battered and surprised by the intensity of Gateshead's attacking prowess in the opening 11 minutes Gateshead had already put 3 past their opponents. The starting eleven were all making their debut's for the tynesiders but it didn't take long for them to gel, Johansson notching twice in a minute(6,7) to give them a great start and it got even better when Mukendi scored from the spot after a foul on loanee Koch, 11 mins gone 3-0 up the stuff dreams were made from. Mukendi got his 2nd on the 46th minute again Gateshead catching the opposition cold at the start of a half, it really was no more than they deserved with 31 shots at goal and almost 60% of the ball Gateshead had made their first game of the season as comfortable as possible. M.Johansson O.Mukendi Both grabbed doubles on their Gateshead debut's
  10. Re: Official Gold Championship 178 Thread LIVERPOOL 0 TOTTENHAM 1 Aaron Lennon's goal just before the half hour mark was enough to hand Tottenham 3 points in the first game of the season, possession was edged by Spurs but Liverpool will be kicking themselves for failing to test the Spurs keeper enough with their chances, 19 shots only 7 on target whereas Spurs got all 11 of their shots on target. It doesn't get any easier for the new Liverpool manager with the SMFA shield match against Newcastle on Monday followed by another huge match against Manchester United on Wednesday.
  11. Re: Official Gold Championship 177 Thread. GATESHEAD READY TO ROCK N ROLL Division 5 side Gateshead have some lofty ambitions for this gold championship but way before all those materialise they begin there campaign at home to Alfreton Town. The play-offs are the immediate target this season for their new manager but with a bit luck and their main players staying free of injuries manager 'the mackem slayer' says his team could shock a few this year. HOWAY THE HEED

Bittencourt scored the only goal for Gateshead and was later voted Man of the Match for his performance. The Mackem Slayer wasn't too downhearted after a game they dominated, saying "it's best to get these performances out the way in pre-season,we created enough chances just didn't put the ball in the net enough" Gateshead now have two friendlies left before the big kick off against Turkish giants Fenerbache and scottish team Alloa.
