  1. Re: Northern European ICON (The ICON Games) Exactly my point. I still think it's the best option' date=' simply because it means every manager has to try their best in EVERY season to finish as high as they possibly can. If it was just the winners that qualify (like being suggested), it could lead to some 'throw-away games/fixing for friends' from a previous winner as they will have nothing to play for in the following seasons. I definitely think the Cup needs to play a minor part in the point system too. Perhaps the league positions should count as; 1st - 12 points, 2nd - 11 points, 3rd - 10 points and so on. But also, a cup win counts for example 5 points, and a finalist would get maybe 2 points. That way every team has a chance in every season to gain as many points as possible. If a team was to finish bottom of the league in the first season, it's possible they have a good cup run and they would accumalate the cup points to their total (not hampering their chances of qualifying) There are only 4 qualifying places in total from our sector. To answer the bold, i think the cup could play a minor part in scoring, so it gives a chance for that team that finishes bottom, as they still have points to play for in the cup. I just don't think the points in the cup competition should be as rewarding as winning the league (22 games compared to having a good cup run of 5-6 games?)
  2. Re: Northern European ICON (The ICON Games) Each qualification procedure has it's pros and cons. If it was just winning the league to qualify, this could lead to a team that's already qualified to slack off in the seasons that follow, or possible 'help' another manager in qualifying if it came down to the last game of the season for instance. I'd personally prefer a points system, so after 4 seasons, you'd tally up everyones score based on their finishing positions. That would give every manager something to play for every season. You could give bonus points for the domestic cup winner/runner up/semi-finalist to help give everybody a fair chance in gaining as many points as possible. This idea is how jkerrs is proposing the Afican sector be scored, and i like it. Just my two cents:)
  3. Re: African ICON (The ICON Games) I'm not in the African sector, but this makes sense, and i would like it to be introduced to all sectors (Obviously it's the governors choice) Like you said, it gives all managers something to play for every season, rather than a previous winner slacking off in seasons after knowing they've already qualified.
  4. Re: .:10000 bc:. Nice 3-1 win for Celtic over FC Basel, taking us up to 3rd in Division 1. Giggs showing his youth by grabbing Man of the Match. Disappointed to lose my star striker Quaglierella for a majority of the season:( Next up, Bayern Munich. A must win for the Bhoys to find a grip near the summit of the league as only 3 points seperate me from 8th!!
  5. Re: THE ICON GAMES - The World Is Watching France. Happy with that.
  6. Re: Rate/Discuss Recent Films You HAVE Seen That's pretty much what i was supposed to say but worded, or should i say mis-worded it poorly. Like you said, great idea, sloppy execution. Not a fan of the shakey cam when it's not needed (almost as bad as an unneccassary 3D film) I did, however, like how having something so great and powerful, leads to a downward spiral with anyone involved. When it comes to TV shows, i have only two words. Breaking Bad.
  7. Re: Is Soccermanager adding new managers This influx of 'managers' usually takes place at the start of a new season in every non-custom gameworld i'm apart of. There could be between 15-20 managers coming in filling teams throughout the divisions, but have no activity until they leave their team due to not logging in for 30 days etc.....
  8. Re: .:10000 bc:. Aye, Celtic looked to be in control until the midfield maestro Leon Britton got sent off mid-way through the first half. City then slowly took contol of the game and finished the Hoops off. Gutted.
  9. Re: Lost Glory??? Hyina, there is only one 'r' in in the mighty Nottingham Forest.
  10. Re: THE ICON GAMES - The World Is Watching I'd love to be a part of this. If we can pick, my choice that i don't think has been selected yet would be France (RC Lens). Back-up teams: Spain (Espanyol) Italy (Atletico Roma) If not, i'd be happy with whoever. Sounds like fun.
  11. Re: ||The Apocalypse|| I wasn't expecting much out of the game given the vast difference in quality of squads and tried to keep it a low-scoring affair. That being said, i'm gutted that i've come out of the match with my highest rated player (De Rossi) out injured for 3 weeks. Pretty much half the season in this GW lol.
  12. Re: ||The Apocalypse|| Yeah that was my heads-up for the nay-sayers.
  13. Re: ||The Apocalypse|| Seeing that the Italian budget is now £45m and I won the cup which is worth an extra £5m towards my budget, does that make my budget £50m? Need help clearing that up please.
  14. Re: THE GAFFER - There and Back Again Yeah, i didn't manage to get online to change my team from a cup game so unfortunately my strongest team available ended up playing.
  15. Re: English Premiership Rating Predictions 2012/13 Can Koscielny get a 91? I'm thinking of selling, but if he can get a rise then i will wait until that happens. If not, i'm better getting rid of now as i have enough depth in his position.
  16. Re: ||The Apocalypse|| Rule Break Schalke did not follow Roma's power of 'In-game Instructions'. I know it was the final game of the season, and they were already promoted prior to the game, but i'm interested to see what punishment will be handed out (if any).
  17. Re: ||The Apocalypse|| Yeah mate. The ingame rule is our power.
  18. Re: ||The Apocalypse|| Yeah, he can't change your tactics. That's our power.

  21. Re: Bundesliga Ratings 2012/2013 While i don't agree with all the changes that have been made regarding Dortmund, people don't seem to realise that they are the reigning Champs in the Bundesliga in which they won twice on the trot. There HAS NOT been a change since they won the league last season, so their players in that regard are playing catch-up. They are still in the Champions League, and while they are off the pace of Munich this season, they will still finish top 3 and guarantee a CL spot. Also, they are a team full of internationals, with the core of their team playing for a top 3 team (Germany)
