  1. Re: Gold Championship 19 Match Report and Transfer News St Johnstone win the league! St Johnstone have won the Scottish Division 2 title with one game in hand to fulfill manager Mat Mourinhos pre season prophecy. They have held off a strong Kilmarnock side closely challenged also by Dunfermline and a late charge by Hamilton, but in the end were too strong and now look forward to mixing it in the top flight. During the 4 quarters of the season, St Johnstones breakdown looks like this: 6-3-0, 1st quarter, F/A 20-9 3-3-3, 2nd quarter, F/A 18-13 7-1-1, 3rd quarter, F/A 20-4 6-1-1, 4th quarter, F/A 27-10 Mourinhos transfer dealings look to have come to fruition as the side now look full of promise. The recent Scottish Cup final win against Hibernian gave Mourinho valuable funds and he added some more promising youngsters, most notable being club record signing Tijani Belaid for 5.3 million. Tijani had a great start to his St Johnstone career notching up 2 goals in his 2 starts before suffering a cruel injury, ruling him out until mid January. Tijani Belaid The successful Scottish Cup run went like this: Round 2, St Johnstone 7 - 1 Rangers Quarters, St Johnstone 3 - 1 Livingston Semis, St Johnstone 7 - 0 Kilmarnock Finlal, St Johnstone 3 - 2 Hibernian Other notable signings were veteran goalkeeper Alberto Fontana, who is leading the way with an average of 8.64 in 14 appearances and young French winger Jonathan Biabiany hitting the back of the net 3 times and assisting 2 in his 9 appearances. Alberto Fontana and Jon Biabiany
  2. Hi, Did a search on this and found nothing. A red card is an automatic 3 match ban, while every 4? yellow cards incurs a 1 match ban? What happens if a player is on 2 yellow cards, then picks up 2 yellow cards (ie and 1 red) in a game, is he banned for 4 games or 3 games?
  3. Re: Gold Championship 21- News, Transfers & Match Reports Heerenveen keep the pressure on Heerenveen have continued to build on their solid start to the Dutch campaign, reaching both domestic cup semi finals and currently sitting in 2nd place in division 1, 2 points behind Groningen. Manager Mat Marshall had to send his scouts far and wide to look for possible recruits and after some initial problems, Marshall is now confident his boys can continue to put pressure on Feyenoord, Ajax and PSV, the latter currently sitting on 19 points, 9 behind Heerenveen. Fans at the Abe Lenstra Stadion have been treated to some wonderful attacking football recently, with the last 6 home fixtures producing 20 goals with just 3 conceded. The last game saw Heerenveen knock Feyenoord out of the Shield on penalties. Recent signing from Standard Liege Dieumerci Mbokani has been on absolute fire, and is looking to build up a strong partnership with veteran Gerald Sibon, keeping the likes of Aaron Hunt and Tarik Elyounoussi on the bench. Dieumerci Mbokani plays the crowd and Gerald Sibon after yet another goal It has taken some time for Marshall to understand the strengths and weaknesses of his players, some having been told to pack their bags and look for other clubs, others coming to the fore like Michal Svec and new boys David Abraham and Tijani Belaid. Marshall has been impressed with Svec and Belaid, still only 21, and Argentine youth international Abraham, 22. Coming in from Slavia Prague, Belaid has torn it up on either wing thus far, highlighting his versatility. Svec has made the holding midfield position his own, while former FC Basel defender Abraham has cemented his place in the centre of defence. Youngsters Michal Svec, Tijani Belaid and David Abraham With an average age of only 22, there is much improvement to come from Marshalls men. With the experienced trio of Gerald Sibon, Croatian international Danijel Pranjic and USA international Michael Bradley forming the basis of his team, Marshall is confident they can sustain their early form. "I honestly expected PSV, Ajax and Feyenoord to set the pace in this division. With my very limited finances I am content with the team I have built and the progress we are making. Hopefully we can get into one or even two of the cup finals and continue to surprise. I still expect Ajax and Feyenoord to move up the table but I am very surprised with PSV, who are extremely ordinary indeed."
  4. Re: Gold Championship 19 Match Report and Transfer News St Johnstone back to their best St Johnstone put the disappointment of the 2nd quarter of league fixtures behind them tonight to move into the semi finals of the Scottish Cup while also moving into the quarters of the Shield. St Johnstone recorded a healthy 6-3-0 in the first quarter of the season but slumped to a 3-3-3 record in the 2nd quarter. After a 5 match winning streak with a fantastic 19-4 differential, more special than the special one Mat Mourinho spoke to the press regarding his team. "For the first time this season I have so many players in top form it is hard to decide on my best 11. We are banging in the goals now and I think the 7-1 thrashing of Rangers has given my young team massive self belief. 5 wins on the trot is what we needed to get back on track and hunt down Kilmarnock." "The 2nd quarter of the season was not great, my rotation policy may have played its part as the team was far from settled, but I have learned from it and the players are fully behind my project. We are looking for a strong 3rd quarter to put us in a championship winning position. In other news, I have let Andy Jackson go and brought in more exciting young talent." "My South American scouts alerted me to Lihue Dario Prichoda who comes in from Racing. He is a fast winger who plays on the right side who will get his chance sooner rather than later. Central midfielder Patrick Funk moves here from Stuttgart who already has massive experience captaining the German under 17 side in their 2007 U-17 World Cup winning team. At only 18 years of age I am expecting big things from Patrick." Lihue Dario Prichoda and Patrick Funk Another recent addition that surprised many fans was the acquisition of 24 year old Brazilian Araújo Maykon. Mourinho was quick to give his impression of the tricky winger. "Maykon at 24 is older than many of my recent purchases, but he comes here with a hunger and desire to succeed. He is quick, tricky and will tear many defenders apart in this division, as he has shown in his 4 games thus far, grabbing a goal and setting up another 3. I expect him to put pressure on Kruse and Holland." Araújo Maykon signed from Belenenses Araújo Maykon was quick to praise Mat Mourinho and give his thoughts about Perth. "Mat Mourinho is fantastic. I had no hesitation in moving to this beautiful town once he showed interest in me. We have strong competition in this team but I am confident I can show my ability and own a starting jersey. It is important we do as well as possible in the cups, and soon we will be champions."
  5. Re: Portuguese league ratings.. Doesnt get much game time and when he is on tries to impress. Strong player with a strong shot. When Porto start to play better and he gets more time Im sure you will see him scoring.
  6. Re: Portuguese league ratings.. What has he done for Sporting this season apart from prance around and avoid challenges. When he actually starts games that is.
  7. Re: Portuguese league ratings.. Miguel Veloso is one of the most overrated players in Portugal. He has to drop to 90. He worries more about his hair than his performances on the pitch, pretty boy soft **** lamer. No chance of going to a team like Arsenal.
  8. Rated 90. Played ok for Germany in Euro 2008 but **** for Real Madrid and low in the pecking order behind Cannavaro, Pepe, and Heinze for the central defence position. Down, up or nowhere?
  9. Re: Gold Championship 19 Match Report and Transfer News St Johnstone 7 Rangers 1 St Johnstone put the disappointment of their recent league performances behind them with a crushing 7-1 defeat of Rangers at McDiarmid Park this evening in the 2nd round of the Scottish Cup. After slipping down to 3rd in the Scottish 2nd division after 3 draws and 1 defeat in their last 4 league games, the Perth outfit rode their luck throughout most of the match but restricted Rangers to mostly long distance efforts which rarely troubled keeper Hans Vonk. Speaking to the press, manager Mat Mourinho had nothing but praise for his chargers. "I thought my tactics were fantastic. This was a very special game as we know how important it is to do as well as possible in the cups to generate income. Rangers came here with a strong team and to beat them by 7-1 is just phenomenal." "They will probably complain about the 2 red cards but when Burke got sent off for that horror challenge we had them at 5-1. Beasley deserved his 2nd yellow which was obviously out of sheer frustration." "I will have to think seriously about my team for this Wednesdays game. Jody Morris has waited a long time to get on the pitch but after that performance he will definately start. There is a real competition for places in the starting 11 now, which is a great dilemma to have, as it is a luxury we have not been able to afford thus far." MOM Teixeira Gabriel Machado and Jody Morris Teixeira Gabriel Machado, a recent signing from Swiss side Grasshoppers, was surprised at Rangers mediocrity, adding "We expected more really. Im sure they will head back to Ibrox wondering what hit them. I was happy to get my first start for St Johnstone and score a couple but Im in full support of Mourinho, we have many great strikers here. In time we will be champions." Meanwhile much speculation has been surrounding McDiarmid park regarding Jennifer Hawkins. Special one Mourinho held a special Miss St Johnstone contest before the match, and it was a hands down win to the Aussie glamour. More news is expected shortly after Mourinho and Hawkins were seen holding hands and getting cosy in a recent screening of Mamma Mia. Jennifer Hawkins celebrates her win.
  10. Re: Gold Championship 19 Match Report and Transfer News St Johnstone welcome Queen of the South to McDiarmid park this evening and will be looking to consolidate their position at the top of Division 2. Manager Mat Mourinho has unveiled Chilean Marcelo Salas who arrives on loan from Olympiakos, and hopes he can strike up a deadly partnership with the on fire Davide Lanzafame. "First of all I would like to thank Camacho for his commitment to the team but to make room for Salas I had to let someone go. With the injury to Djordjevic it was important to get another striker in and I am delighted with Salas, he scores goals everywhere he goes". On loan strikers Marcelo Salas and Davide Lanzafame. Japanese playmaker Hiroki Kawano moves into the starting 11 in place of Camacho and is expected to build a solid partnership with Georges Mandjeck and Rocco Quinn. Mandjeck has started to hit some form as predicted by manager Mat Mourinho. "Georges is an animal. It has taken him a while to settle but now he is starting to boss games from his holding role. Even I would be scared to line up against him and I am sure his opponents dont look forward to meeting him on the pitch. I have instructed him to take out anyone who messes with Kawano." Japanese prodigy Hiroki Kawano and the 'animal' Georges Mandjeck. "I fully expect to smash Queen of the South tonight. They have some quality up front but I think my team is much stronger and I think we could see some goals. We've banged in 9 in the last 3 and we just cant slip up here with Kilmarnock so close behind us." When asked about his goalkeeper Hans Vonk, Mourinho was again full of praise. "I am delighted also with Hans, we picked him up from South Africa and his experience is invaluable with such a young squad. As with many of my players, they are starting to settle and we are seeing good, consistent results." Veteran goalkeeper Hans Vonk has kept 3 clean sheets in the last 4 games, conceding 1. Meanwhile Mourinhos off the pitch innovations are proving a winner with the fans. "Our cheerleaders are the most special I have ever seen. Beer sales are through the roof, and my complimentary pies are always gone come 10pm. Meanwhile, speculation has been bounding around Perth this week that former Miss World Jennifer Hawkins is about to join the St Johnstone Cheerleader squad, Mourinho was tight lipped. "Jen is a friend of mine, a special friend if you like, she has lucrative deals in Australia but when it comes down to money or Mourinho, we all know that the dinheiro comes in 2nd. I dont want to create any more speculation about the issue but there will be a new face in the cheerleader squad for the Livingston game and I am currently a bachelor and I need someone to help me with all these pies." Is Jennifer Hawkins on her way to McDiarmid Park for the more special than the special one? "I have introduced a new pie, as our attendances are now around 10,000 I realised I needed some diversity. The new pie is called the Justice pie and I am sure they will go down a treat." The Justice pie
  11. Re: Gold Championship 19 Match Report and Transfer News St Johnstone have crushed Morton 3-0 away from home to stay top of the Scottish 2nd division, preserving their 2 point lead over title favourites Kilmarnock. After 8 games Mourinhos men have a healthy 6-2-0 record and have won their last 3 with a differential of 9-1. The game was never in doubt after opening the scoring on 4 minutes with notable performances by Mandjeck, Rocco Quinn, veteran keeper Hans Vonk and Davide Lanzafame, who has now scored an impressive 9 goals in 8 games. Filip Djordjevic has sustained a chest injury which keeps him sidelined for 4 weeks, with young Andy Jackson set to come into the team after bagging a late goal on Wednesday night. Young Ransford Osei comes onto the bench and will be looking to get some game time.
  12. Re: Gold Championship 19 Match Report and Transfer News St Johnstone have surged to the top of the Scottish 2nd division with a 4-0 drubbing of Partick Thistle, sending them bottom in the process. Undefeated St Johnstone manager Mat Mourinho was pleased with the display: "It was a great performance from the whole team. Partick are rubbish. I am very happy for James Holland who grabed himself a brace and new boy Robbie Kruse did well." "There are better things to come from my team, to overtake Kilmarnock and go top will fill my boys with self belief and confidence." "I know it is a massive challenge as their squad man for man is superior but we are going to fight all the way." Next up is Greenock Morton and Mourinho is confident ahead of the clash. "Its going to be a win for us, no doubt. They are an average team and we are much stronger, anything other than a win will be a failure. We want to consolidate our position at the top and put pressure on Kilmarnock."
  13. Re: Gold Championship 19 Match Report and Transfer News Racist not. Just dont like frogs of the French variety. I am 25% French myself. If anyone takes Mat Mourinho seriously I have grave concerns about their mental health. Nobody bags my cousin Jose like you do.
  14. Re: Gold Championship 19 Match Report and Transfer News Justice runs again More special than the special one Mat Mourinho has laughed at Nick Justice swerving away from the scheduled friendly with his St Johnstone team. "What a clown. As if PSG are going anywhere. I never liked French frogs and there is no chance anyone from Paris is coming to Perth. Boo hoo to you Justice, Im sure the Colchester fans are organising a party to celebrate your resignation after only 3 weeks." "Where is the loyalty." PSG supporters have rallied outside their home ground to protest against the appointment of Justice as they feel he will be lucky to see out the month before he leaves for apparently greener pastures.
  15. Re: Gold Championship 19 Match Report and Transfer News More special than the special one Mat Mourinho has guided his St Johnstone team to a priceless 2-1 victory away to league leaders Kilmarnock tonight, preserving his teams unbeaten start to the season. Davide Lanzafame grabbed a brace within the first 25 minutes and held off a strong Kilmarnock revival to go one point behind them in the Scottish 2nd division table, handing the Kilmarnock team their first defeat of the season. Speaking to Tay FM, Mat Mourinho praised his chargers: "What a great win, to come here against the heavy league favourites and beat them 2-1. My boys played a great game and the stats suggest we fully deserved this victory." "Mandjeck will come good, give him time. Robbie Kruse has trained well and impressed me with his typical Australian never say die attitude and needs time to settle. I ask for patience regarding these two guys." Kilmarnock right back Riccardo Colombo was given his marching orders in the 79th minute for a horrible challenge and will miss the next 3 games. Mat Mourinho has an abundance of his special pies ready for the arrival of Colchester on Friday evening, and is ready to smoke the peace pipe with controversial manager Nick Justice. "Once he tastes my pies he will realise the quality of what we have up here not only on the pitch. I hope they dont miss the bus again as I am looking forward to giving some of my reserve team players a run out."
  16. Re: Gold Championship 19 Match Report and Transfer News Colchester missed the bus up to sunny Perth last night for the arranged friendly with St Johnstone. More special than the special one Mat Mourinho commented briefly on the situation: "I can understand Justice being scared, but to just not turn up is ridiculous. I cooked some of my special pies just for the occasion so we could shake hands and move on, but now it's war." "No pies for you or your punk *** supporters Justice!" St Johnstone have challenged Colchester to another friendly on the 22nd but it remains to be seen whether it will go ahead and if so, will manager Mourinho forgive Justice for the no show.
  17. Re: Gold Championship 19 Match Report and Transfer News Undefeated St Johnstone host Dunfermline tonight in the 3rd fixture of the Scottish 2nd division. St Johnstone followed up their first win with a crushing defeat of Clyde with goals to Davide Lanzafame and another 89th minute goal, this time by Rocco Quinn. Last night St Johnstone entertained Exeter in the 2nd friendly of the season, with manager Mat Mourinho fielding his 2nd side. St Johnstone dominated the game and two first half goals to Filip Djordjevic and Jamie McCluskey sealed the win. More special than the special one Mat Mourinho took time out of his busy schedule to talk with Tay FM. "Im very happy with our start to the season, I thought we completely smashed Clyde who are no hope of promotion this season. Although it took another last minute winner, we could have won by more." "I would like to thank Exeter for making the trip up last night. We wrapped the game up early and again could have won by more, but it was a good run out for the reserve team." "My pies are going down a treat, we even have people coming up from Colchester for my pies they are that special." "Its going to be a very tough game tonight against Dunfermline who are also undefeated. Im not surprised with Kilmarnock leading the division. Why they are even in this division is astounding, their team is twice as good as any other team but we will fight on."
  18. Re: Gold Championship 19 Match Report and Transfer News Fans and football supporters have been waiting for the self proclaimed more special than the special one to speak to the media since Colchester United manager Justice gave fans some one sided appraisal of the court session in which St Johnstone maganer sued for defamation. Speaking exclusively to TAY fm, Mat Mourinho had the following comments to offer. "Firstly, in regards to Palermo and their manager, whatever happened with Fontana is irrelevant. He is a clown. I will speak no further on the issue." "I was happy with the 4-4 draw with Bournemouth. It was a long way to travel, and even with 9 men Rocco managed to score to even the score with 5 to go. The Bournemouth manager must be blind thinking we has a better team considering Balotelli and their 2 signings from the South American nursing home played 90 minutes. I dont know what game he was watching, but I wouldnt expect much from Bournemouth this season. Plus their pies are second rate chit. "As I expected we won our first league fixture this evening against a quality Livingston team. Nobody could argue with Innes' red card, it was a blatant red card. We made tough work of it but totally dominated possession and thanks to the screamer from Lanzafame 2 minutes from time we got the win we fully deserved." "Clyde will be easy meat next game at home. I will remind our fans that our sexy cheer girls will be handing out my hand made pies at half time, Clyde fans will also receive a pie." In other news, St Johnstone have challenged Colchester United to a friendly on the 15th of July. Although reported otherwise, generous St Johnstone manager Mat Mourinho has offered all Colchester United fans travelling to Mc Diarmid a free pie made by himself, as he feels sorry for the **** they serve down there in Essex.
  19. Re: Gold Championship 19 Match Report and Transfer News St Johnstone play Bournemouth tonight in the first friendly and game of the season. While Bournemouth have been busy recruiting from the South American nursing home, Mat Mourinho has kept most of his original squad and brought in some exciting young talent. In another exclusive interview, Mourinho sensationally hit back at Colchester manager Justice in what is turning out to be feud of the season. "I would like to clarify that I am indeed not the man pictured eating that crappy English pie. I have consulted my lawyers and will take Justice to court for defamation." "That Palermo manager is also a clown, what he has done in regards to the Fontana situation is absolutely ridiculous and that team is going nowhere in Serie A." In regards to tonights fixture, he has played down the significance of the result and stressed the importance of getting a look at some of his new players. "Mandjeck will start and hopefully see out the 90 minutes, I have big raps on this kid. I plan to bring on a few guys at half time to give everyone a chance to prove themselves for the opening league fixture. Its a big advantage for them playing at their home ground." "Those 2 boys from the South American nursing home will be hard to contain but hopefully my young boys can give the St Johnstone supporters something to cheer about." Free pies are planned for every home fan attending St Johnstones home games and select away fans, but has stressed that no such offer will be made to the fans from Colchester. Another fresh addition will be cheer girls, who will not only strut their stuff on the sideline, but will be handing out the pies at half time.
  20. Re: Gold Championship 19 Match Report and Transfer News St Johnstone manager Mat Mourinho, the self proclaimed more special than the special one, has told The Courier that Colchester will get their friendly at the first opportunity once the first two friendlies with Bournemouth and Exeter City are done. "Once we wipe the floor with these two average English sides, Colchester are next. The only way is down for Colchester, baby." "If St Johnstone are not promoted this season I will happily join the pie shop because my pies, like me, are more special than any other pies, but our promotion is a certainty." "This Justice character probably wont last more than 2 weeks at Colchester anyway. The only correct thing he has said is that I am not the special one. I am the more special than the special one, get it right." "He will be on his knees paying homage soon enough." :p :p
  21. Re: Gold Championship 19 Match Report and Transfer News St Johnstone manager Mat Mourinho has also taken time out of his demanding schedule to report on the final transfers completed before the season begins on Saturday. "I have brought in young talent from all over the globe. 16 year old Marcos Caicedo has come in from Ecuadorian side Emelec for Paul Sheerin, who is too old for my special team, and Steven Milne, who was not a part of my special plans. Marcos will get some game time and I am sure will impress the fans with his speed down the left wing." "16 year old Colombian striker Raul Asprilla has joined for 650k and will join the youth squad. Another 16 year old, Icelandic midfielder Sigurbergur Elisson has joined with Allan McManus going to Keflavik. He will also join the youth squad while we try and change his first name because it sounds ridiculous." "We have also acquired 18 year old Japanese midfielder Hiroki Kawano swapping McInnes and Weatherston in the deal. Hiroki is the first Japanese player to ever join St Johnstone and will go straight into the first team squad." "Perhaps two recent signings I am most happy about is Jason Hoffman, a 17 year old Australian striker who mcomes into the tea arrives with Holmes and Cuthbert going to OZ. It wont be long before he makes some appearances in the first team." "And a major coup for the club is Georges Mandjeck, a powerful 6 foot tall holding midfielder who will completely boss the 1st division and hopefully stay fit to guide us back into the SPL. He comes in from Kaiserslautern for a fee of just over one million pounds."
  22. Re: Gold Championship 19 Match Report and Transfer News St Johnstone manager Mat Mourinho has rubbished claims from Colchester boss Nick Justice that he will be working in a pie factory by 2011. In a sensational outburst on Tay FM this morning, the more special than special one has challenged Colchester to a friendly at the first available opportunity, and said that Justice will do well to stay in League 3 let alone achieve promotion. Mat Mourinho has promised St Johnstone fans a swift return to the top flight of Scottish football after years or heartbreaks. "I am more special than the special one, and St Johnstone will be promoted this season without a problem. I plan to improve the home support and fill McDiarmid every home game which will be achieved easily as we are going to sell beer." "I havent been to Colchester, people tell me its not too special, unlike me, and when this friendly occurs hopefully it will be at McDiarmid Park because our pies are better, and our women are better looking." "Perth chicks are hot"
  23. Re: Gold Championship 19 Match Report and Transfer News Mat Mourinho just taken over St Johnstone in the Soccer Manager Gold Championship 19, replacing Derek McInnes. An offer for Palermo goalkeeper Alberto Fontana was cruelly rejected, but the following transfers have been accepted: Christain Supusepa - 20yo - LB/CB - 500k from Ajax Filip Djordjevic - 20yo - CF - 1.5mil from Nantes Sebastián Nayar - 20yo - AM - 80k from Recreativo Huelva Panagiotis Tachtsidis - 17yo - CM - 100k from AEK Athens David Lanzafame - 21yo - F - loan from Palermo Barnola Ignacio Camacho - 18yo - CM/DM - loan from Atletico Madrid There have been numerous transfers placed involving part exchanges which will be decided upon shortly, and I hope to bring you some positive news regarding the addition of some more quality youngsters in the near future. Manager Mat Mourinho was interviewed today and had the following to say in regards to the next week of transfers before the season proper begins: "I am manager now and he is best to retire from the playing field pronto. I am only keeping Kevin James around in the hope he stays on the pitch more than 10 minutes and does something useful, otherwise the transfer list awaits him. That kid Weatherston will never do anything and is surplus to requirements. Goneski. Why would I have these clowns MacDonald and Milne around when I can swap them both off for a teenager with as much ability who has a chance of being a star unlike these has beens. Sheerin, too old. 2nd Goneski. If you are over 30 in my team, best take a look over your shoulder." "I am the revolution, more special than the special one, I am here to take St Johnstone into the 21st century, to the world, and we will sell more shirts in Hong Kong than Chelsea by 2011Today, 1st division, tomorrow OF whores, day after that, the world." Mat Mourinho could not be contacted for further comment and was rumoured to be living it up in a nameless seaside village in Thailand with a plentiful supply of available 19 year old honies, all eager for a taste of the more special than the special one. He prefers to leave the transfer business in the week remaining before kickoff to the men who earn plenty for doing little in the office after pointing out as his priorities. No cup games have been scheduled so far.
