Goias crowned Brazilian champions 2 Horse race for league title With 2 teams setting the pace in the Brazilian top division this season, meant an explosive finish between Goias and Internacional. Both teams had dominated the top 2 spots of the league since mid season and pulled away from the likes of Cruzeiro and Sao Paulo. After finishing 5th last season and losing out on promotion in the play offs meant the Royals were hungry to return to the top flight and do it before the end of the season. Goias end of season report League With Goias winning the second division last season and gaining promotion to the first division, meant Goias initial aim for the season was to stay away from those relegation places and going straight back down. However as the season went on, after a couple of bad runs the manager got his players confidence back and with the help of new striker Giancarlo Maldonado, the team started establishing itself in the top division and aimed for a top 2 finish which it successfully gained, finishing second place

Re: Gold Championship 17 - Setup News Another season in Division 2 for Reading Reading's promotion hopes came to a crashing end last night as the Royals lost in their play off semi final against Leicester City. Reading travelled to the Walkers Stadium and were surely the favourites to go through to the play off final, however this was not to be. Re: Gold Championship 62 Match Reports/News/Transfers Thread Mallorca get first win of season under new boss Barcelona 1 - 3 Mallorca Mallorca travelled to Barcelona tonight and under new boss Alex Thom picked up their first league win of the season by beating Barcelona by 3 goals to 1. Mallorca took the lead 14 minutes in when Aritz Aduriz nodded home from a corner. Hibernian started the season badly, with a new manager and new signings meant the team as a whole needed to adjust and this showed in their first 2 league games of the season where they lost away against Dundee United 3-1 and at home to Aberdeen 4-2. Re: Gold Championship 57 New Boss at Mallorca With Mallorca second from bottom in the Spanish first division having played 23 games so far and only winning 3, drawing 6 and losing 14 there was demand for a change at the top and it came in the form of Englishman Alex Thom. The Royals took the lead in the first minute at the Madejski through a Kevin Doyle strike, however the game was all about Reading new boy Christian Noboa who marked his debut in the English championship with a man of the match performance, which also saw him get on the score sheet with a goal on the half hour mark. However ended up fighting right up until the last game as Corinthians closed the gap and a bad run of form from goias saw the gap down to 1 point. However Goias ended up top by 4 points thanks to a 2-0 win over Figueirense on the closing day of the season, which sees them promoted next season. After a first season with the club in where he lead the royals to promotion to the premier league and saw his side come runners up to chelsea in the English cup, the Reading manager had to step asside for personal reasons. Reading finished their season off tonight with a 4-0 home win over Blackpool, but it wasnt quite enough to make them champions as Crystal palace beat Swansea 2-0 at home to keep them a point clear and make them division 2 champions!
