  1. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Sunderland paying 14 million pounds for Borini. Not sure why but I don't mind it:)
  2. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Would be on high wages but still cheaper than Bony in the long run. Would love to have him here.
  3. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Strongest rumours from yesterday are that we're interested in Bakkali (£2-3M), prefer Remy to Bony and are Davies' preferred destination. And then also this:o:http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-transfer-hit-list-now-includes-3875539
  4. Re: Official Liverpool Thread I think there's still a strong chance we'll get Moreno. We just don't want to pay OTT for him, which is probably at least part of the reason why the links to Davies & Bertrand have appeared more frequently now.
  5. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Chelsea aiding our player recruitment again. Lovely:)
  6. Re: Official Liverpool Thread The price is €25M which converts to £19.8M. Great job by the club to pull that off and the price actually doesn't seem that big at all when you consider the asking prices of young players like him. I'm sure Benfica wouldn't have sold him for that price if he hadn't had that release clause. With all the rumours that Chelsea were after him quite a long time, I'm glad they ended up with Salah and us with Markovic and not the other way around.
  7. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Again, that's the situation at the moment but it's likely to change. Been linked to Bony & Remy in the past few days.
  8. Re: Respuesta: Official Liverpool Thread Ben, firstly I agree that as of this very moment we have taken a backwards step but it's sort of pointless to say that now when we've got a huge amount of money to use so it's impossible to say what our team is going to look like at the start of the season. More often than not, clubs buy players late in the window who they weren't even linked with in June/July, so we really can't possibly know how strong our team is going to be. Something that I don't necessarily agree with is what you say about Sturridge. Firstly you compare Sturridge for Liverpool (with Suarez) to Sturridge for England (without Suarez) but there's obviously a lot of other factors than just Suarez, Rodgers vs Hodge for example. And Sturridge had a fantastic understanding with Coutinho, too, so it wasn't all just Suarez and Sturridge. Have a look at Sturridge's stats with and without Suarez in the last 2 seasons from this article:http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2014/07/11/ib-how-will-sturridge-perform-without-suarez-by-his-side-at-live/They're relatively small sample sizes but certainly don't show that Sturridge is weaker without Suarez. Sturridge can be the main man and score 25+ if he stays fit. Big if but anyway, Sturridge will be great even without him.
  9. Re: Official Liverpool Thread If we finish 4th, win the FA cup and go to the last 16 of CL, would you call that going backwards? In any case it's way too soon to say we've taken a step backwards. We've only just sold Suarez, let's wait and see how we actually spend that money.
  10. Re: Official Liverpool Thread But then again, we're not replacing Suarez with Markovic. We realise we can't get a like-for-like replacement, so we're buying several players. Was Lamela Bale's replacement? Or Soldado? They strengthened their squad (or at least tried to) like we're going to do. And Suarez didn't single-handedly give us a shot at the title, even though he was obviously the most important player in the team.
  11. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Also worth noting that Spurs had a worse squad than us and finished 5th with Bale. Comparisons with Spurs are just lazy and wishful thinking from rival fans.
  12. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Mignolet Johnson – Lovren – Sakho – Moreno Gerrard Henderson – Lallana Markovic – Sturridge – Sterling Flanagan, Enrique, Wisdom?, Ilori?, Skrtel, Can, Allen, Suso?, Coutinho, Lambert, Ibe? (Origi loaned out). That's basically the squad we could realistically have after the sales & purchases we're likely to make. That's with an approximate net spend of 0 pounds, maybe even a profit. Add one or two attacking players (Griezmann, Shaqiri, Firmino, Rodrigo Moreno, Lacazette, Volland, Aubameyang, El Shaarawy etc etc, plenty of fish in the sea) to the squad and I like the way it looks. Some people seem to have short memories because I seem to remember our style of attacking football being one of the main talking points in England during almost the whole season, but now that one player goes we don't have a chance of finishing in the top 4? One of the main things that made our attack so dangerous and efficient was pace. And if anything, we'll have even more of it next season by the looks of it. Sure it doesn't mean that we won't suffer from the loss of Suarez but it means that we'll still be able to play our style. mb2SdHwrd1E And if none of this is reassuring you, then consider this: Sterling, Sturridge, Coutinho, Henderson, Mignolet & Sakho are all going to be even better next season.
  13. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Congratulations. That's another 4th place finish in the bag for you.
  14. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Oh I agree, Coutinho is better centrally. But if I had to choose our best midfield and attack right now without Suarez, I'd put Lallana in a central role. I can see us making a like-for-like sub with Coutinho replacing Lallana quite often this season.
  15. Re: Riferimento: Re: Official Liverpool Thread Origi will apparently go back to Lille for a year if and when we do get him. Origi is still too raw to expect him to have a big impact (at least when he starts games) and apparently us willing to loan him back is a big reason why Lille are willing to sell him to us.
  16. Re: English Premiership Rating Predictions
  17. Re: Official Liverpool Thread We don't need a central forward who's at the level of Mandzukic or Jackson Martinez unless we plan to play with 2 strikers, which I don't think we will. Ideally, we'd buy a striker who can play out wide just as well as centrally. Sadly, there's not many players like that but I know Rodgers is a fan of Rodrigo Moreno (Benfica) and he'd fit the profile I guess. Gerrard, Henderson & Lallana is our best midfield 3 at the moment, and when Suarez leaves, Sterling, Sturridge & Coutinho is the best front 3 we have. We'll probably buy at least one wide player, meaning Coutinho will drop to the bench and perhaps another one to challenge for Sterling's spot in the starting eleven. There will be some surprises ahead and I think we'll end up buying players we haven't even been linked with yet.
  18. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Really hope the Markovic rumours are true. Seems like a future star.
  19. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Can't wait for the meltdown here if he signs.
  20. Re: Official Liverpool Thread The feeling with Agger is very much the same as it is with Lucas. Their time at Liverpool has simply come to an end. And it doesn't help Agger that our £18M 24-year-old CB is left-footed. Sakho needs to be our first choice CB and we need to be looking at a CB who can complement Sakho's abilities as well as possible. If Rodgers thinks that man is Lovren, then so be it. I've never been impressed with Lovren but if Brendan feels he has the tools to form a good partnership with Sakho, then I'm not one to argue against that.
