  1. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Yes, Liverpool could have suspended him immediately and gained a few publicity points. But at the end of the day that's just showing off to the media when it was well known he was going to get a big ban anyway. Not to mention that we can't obviously know what sort of warning Liverpool gave him privately after the Ivanovic incident. After that he hasn't done anything like this for Liverpool so maybe it even worked?

  3. Re: Official Liverpool Thread This is a good article on the Suarez incident. By Glenn Moore from The Independent.
  4. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Origi would go back on loan to Lille next season, which seems sensible. Sanchez isn't done and I can't see it being done unless Suarez goes the other way. Sanchez + anything upwards of £35M would be a decent deal for us. Sunderland have offered us 8M + 2M bonuses for Borini. We're looking for 12.5M. I can see a deal being done there eventually. Also, Shaqiri could be close to signing for us.
  5. Re: Official Liverpool Thread I saw on Twitter yesterday that FIFA would have the right to give him a ban that prevents him from playing for Liverpool but for a ban like the that the offence normally has to be match fixing, failing a drugs test or something like that.
  6. Re: Official Liverpool Thread One particular sentence from that article that I'd like to comment: "Even a six-month ban might not keep the flesh of defenders safe." That's true. The length of the ban does not work in correlation with the likelihood of him "curing". So what's the point in these 6-month, 40+ game, 2 year bans? He did something wrong and deserves to get punished for it but in his case, we've very much learned that punishment is not the cure for him. I'm not a psychology expert in any way but I think his punishment first and foremost should be mandatory sessions with a therapist who could maybe solve the problem of him completely losing it on a football field. I don't know if it would work, but you certainly can't expect the ban to stop him doing this when he's already served 17 games ban for the same offence.
  7. Re: Official Liverpool Thread It would be a real shame if Real Madrid and Barcelona dropped their interest in him because of this.
  8. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Let's hope these rumours about Falcao going to Real Madrid are true. That only leaves Barcelona who could potentially buy Suarez and in their case, either we'll get a replacement in the same deal (Sanchez or Pedro) or they can't afford him. I genuinely don't see them spending upwards of 70M pounds on a single player, especially when they need to strengthen other positions as well.
  9. Re: Official England Thread England really do have a fantastic set of young players right now. Players who could form a very, very good team for the 2016-2020 ECs and WC. Hodgson should go now and the FA need to appoint the best candidate (and not the best English candidate) if you want to succeed in the next couple of tournaments. You have the players for it, imo. Walcott, Barkley, Sturridge, AOC, Sterling. I think the front 3/4, depending on formation, should be formed from those players in the next tournament and I think there's huge potential in there. Lots of pace, goals & technical ability.
  10. Re: Official Liverpool Thread I don't think we should keep him against his will again. Obviously Real Madrid need to come up with an acceptable offer for him to leave but if he's desperate to go, then let him go.
  11. Re: Official Liverpool Thread I don't think there's a figure where you can say we'd be stupid not to sell him. We can't buy anyone nearly as good as him so our plan A should be to keep him, not to look for a massive fee. If he informs the club that he wants to leave, then so be it but it would be pretty important to have at least one top quality player in the bag before we let him go.
  12. Re: Official Liverpool Thread I'd quite like a 1-1 draw with Sturridge & Suarez scoring. If Suarez does score, I'd really like it to be with his hand from an offside position in the last minute.
  13. Re: Official Liverpool Thread barcastuff ‏@barcastuff Juventus offered Alexis Sanchez a 4-year contract worth 4.1M a year. Player agrees. Juventus not willing to pay more than 18M. [tuttosport] We're rumoured to be after Alexis Sanchez and if he'd be available for around £20M + £70k a week, I think it would be financially doable. I think he'd be a better option than Shaqiri.
  14. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Rickie Lambert's story really is a remarkable one. Let's hope he publishes an autobiography in a few years (which ends with him winning the league with Liverpool), that will definitely be worth a read.
