  1. Re: Official Liverpool Thread I hope we do get good bids for Agger & Lucas. Lucas has Serie A written all over him and Agger would be suited to almost any league. Selling Lucas, Agger, Reina & Aspas would already bring £30M and there's still plenty of others who will leave. Won't be surprised if Suso does go, I don't think Rodgers likes him. Very worrying that Glen Johnson isn't mentioned anywhere in there.
  2. Re: Official Liverpool Thread McLaughlin was ok, Smith was the more impressive of the two.
  3. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Particularly interested in seeing Ibe, Smith and McLaughlin. Rafa Paez, too, who I've not been impressed by in the 4 or 5 games I've seen of him.
  4. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Cole would be on a lot of money but it would be worth it considering he's still very good and there's no fee. A 2-year contract with him would probably cost upwards of £8M + a big a signing-on fee whereas Moreno for example would cost that in the fee alone. Either way that's one position where there seems to be plenty of quality options. People seriously need to realize that Lallana is a very good player. He will cost a lot but you should be happy that we're signing a good player. William Carvalho links are surely rubbish. Isn't he supposed to cost more than 30 million pounds?
  5. Re: Official Liverpool Thread I think I read a statistic somewhere that Lallana has won the ball back in the final 3rd more times than any other player in the league. That's the sort of stat I'm sure Rodgers loves, and Lallana has also got more goals in him than Coutinho. He will make us a better team and won't be the only signing so I'm not too worried that he's our no. 1 target. I've said it before, I think it's a very low risk signing. Sure, you can find better players who have gone for £25M or less, but can anyone see Lallana not being a good player for us? That's basically what it's about as long as we'll have money to get our other targets, which we will.
  6. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Prepare to be staggered, then.
  7. Re: English Premiership Rating Predictions Less than half of these will happen imo.
  8. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Again, we were 1 (one) result from winning the league. I think we proved that you can actually go pretty far with an average defence. And at the moment it's not looking like either of our 2 main goal-scorers are leaving + Sterling can be expected to produce more considering his age, so I don't see how it's arrogant to think that we'll be able to maintain this level. We'll sign 5-7 players and I believe we'll take 1 or 2 from the players out on loan back to our squad. We'll sell roughly the same amount but half of them will be players who were already out on loan or simply didn't play much at all. We'll be okay.
  9. Re: Official Liverpool Thread If the right one is available, then yes.
  10. Re: Official Liverpool Thread 2013/2014 - I’ll keep it short and sweet. Brilliant season, a 9 out of 10. We’ve now made ourselves a very attractive club for new players, we have a solid foundation to build on for the future and we’ll finally be able to enjoy our Tuesday and Wednesday nights the way they were meant to be enjoyed. Moment of the season for me was Flanagan’s goal at WHL. Transfer window - Johnson, Enrique, Toure, Agger, Alberto, Aspas, Assaidi, Coates, Lucas, Reina, Borini, Kelly, Skrtel. I would say that at least 7 players from that group will be sold, maybe even 10. Which means that after sales we have more than £80M to use, probably around a £100M. There’s been people (Ben C & CaptainObvious) saying that we don’t have enough money to spend on all of our problem areas or that FFP won’t allow us to use enough. We finished 1 result from winning the league, scoring 101 goals, how many problem areas do you think we actually have? Defense is obviously something where we’ll need to improve but it was good enough for us to finish second this year so as long as the attack keeps scoring at a similar level, we don’t need to buy 4 £20M defenders. What we need imo is Suso & Ilori back, 2 full-backs (both starters), maybe a CB, Lallana & 2 other players for the ’front six’. That’s 5 or 6 players for £80M+. Hardly impossible, is it? 14/15 – One significant improvement that I’m looking forward to is our wide areas. We had Johnson, Flanagan & Cissokho as our full-backs for most of the games. They were taking up good positions high up the pitch trying to make an impact in the final 3rd but sadly none of them are that good offensively. Replace them with players who can actually get past their man and put in a good cross or even score themselves and that’s a whole new dimension to our game. We’ll start the season with a different kind of mentality. We know we can beat anyone and that we can win the title. We were so close this season and the last thing we’ll want is the repeat of the final weeks of this season. I think this will help us as well. We’ll have maybe around 10 games more than this season. It requires a bigger squad (which we will have) and a little more rotation from Rodgers. I don’t see why we wouldn’t be able to cope with it. Wayyy too early to make any real predictions but at the moment I’d expect the top 3 to be the same as this year but maybe in a different order.
  11. Re: English Premiership Rating Predictions Gallagher from Southampton at least I suppose he could get a +1.
  12. Re: Official Manchester City Thread Congratulations. I prefer you winning it to any of the other teams in the top 7 (bar us, obviously).
  13. Re: Official Liverpool Thread I see the WUMs are in full force. Not much to say about that game but I'll definitely write something about the season as a whole when I have more time.
  14. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Chelsea don't need a LB but since when has their transfer business made any sense? Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool is the best thing that could happen to Luke Shaw right now. Last chance to watch Liverpool for a few months and you're just going to throw that away to watch Man City? Get this nonsense out of you:p
  15. Re: Official Liverpool Thread It's been pretty widely reported in English media that Utd & Liverpool are both interested in Lallana and that he wants to move here. Not sure why Shaw would think differently unless United offer him a lot more money.
  16. Re: Official Liverpool Thread I would take Januzaj over Alberto or Borini. (Obviously not ahead of Sterling, though)
  17. Re: Official Liverpool Thread We'll just have to agree to disagree on Borini. For me it essentially boils down to the fact that he isn't good enough but has good re-sale value. Yes, he hasn't peaked yet and probably won't for 2 or 3 years but we would definitely need him to produce something this season and I don't think he's capable of that. We need depth but we saw how useless it is (Aspas, Moses) when you can't rely on it. Rodgers has been very reluctant to give Aspas game time because he hasn't impressed and the same would happen with Borini imo. We need depth, a lot more than we had this season but it has to be of better quality or someone young who can be a world-beater in the future. And I don't think Borini would be content at all with starting from the bench. You probably think that I hate Borini and am desperate for him to leave but I actually like him a lot. I wish him all the best when he inevitably leaves us this Summer;)
  18. Re: Official Liverpool Thread In that article Vendetta posted (which is from Tony Barrett, I think) it says we're looking to sell Alberto. Wouldn't be surprised by that, either.
  19. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Anything can happen with transfers so I could obviously be wrong but I'm about 90% certain we'll sell Borini.
  20. Re: Official Liverpool Thread In the last 2 days we've been linked with Müller, Gaitan, Lallana, Song, Vorm, Caulker, A Cole, Griezmann, Inigo Martinez and probably many, many more. So just a gentle reminder that most of the players we're linked with, we won't end up signing. For those who doubt Caulker solely based on the fact that he plays for a poor side, I have two words for you: Gary Cahill. If you've seen Caulker more than 10 times this season, then fair enough. I haven't but I know he was good with Rodgers at Swansea and the Spurs fans were gutted to lose him so I think there's probably a good player in there. CB must be one of the toughest positions to excel in if you're playing with awful players around you.
  21. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Suso - I think it was one of the Times journos on their webchat who hinted that Suso might be off because Rodgers doesn't rate him that highly. Enrique - We didn't get Cissokho on loan to be back-up for Enrique, we got him to push Enrique to the bench (didn't quite work out admittedly) and now we're linked to Shaw and are surely interested in other LBs, too. Rodgers wants an improvement on that position and I think it's pretty well documented. Borini - His movement is one of the things he's rated for. It's all people really refer to when talking about him. For me, he doesn't score or create enough and since we could still get around £10M for him, we should take the money and run.
  22. Re: English Premiership Rating Predictions My opinions.
  23. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Ilori might be the only one who comes back and even he might be getting another loan. Borini* I'm fairly certain will be gone and I'm not entirely convinced that Rodgers is a fan of Suso (might be his attitude or something). It's a shame if Suso doesn't have the right type of mentality for BR because he's a quality player. I'm praying that Johnson leaves. I'd prefer even Cissokho to him at this point and I'm being serious here. Enrique could come back but I don't think Rodgers fancies him as the #1 left-back. Enrique and Flanno as back-up full-backs next season is entirely possible. Aspas was genuinely rated quite highly in Spain so there will be takers for him. Don't think it will be a loan considering his comments a few weeks back. *= @BreakfastPercy (who everyone should be following on Twitter) made a great point about Borini last night. If he wasn't our player, would he be trasnfer target for us? He has 3 goals from open play this season in the premier league. We are interested in Shaw. And I think we'd be by far the best club for him at the moment, but I won't blame him if he wants to go to the club he supports. Not sure how he'll displace Azpilicueta so career wise I'm not sure that'd be the best move for him.
