  1. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Great timing from Adam with the Lallana news, seeing how most of the biggest papers in England are running with a 'Lallana to Liverpool' story today. He'll probably end up costing £20M+ but I won't mind that, he'll fit perfectly to our style and has a very good goal-scoring record for a midfielder. I hope we also take one of Shaw, Clyne, Chambers or Ward-Prowse while we're visiting Southampton.
  2. Re: Official Liverpool Thread We're the team actually at the top and only have a minimal chance. Chelsea need both City and us to lose one more game so they're definitely out.
  3. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Mourinho set up like that because win, lose or draw they were/are out of the title race. I don't have any problems with how we played, I wanted us to win so we could have gone to Palace knowing that a draw is enough.
  4. Re: Official Liverpool Thread “Jose is happy to work that way and play that way and he will probably show his CV and say it works but it’s not my way of working,” said the Reds boss. “I like to take the initiative in games and let players express themselves. “Chelsea defended well. We tried everything we could but our game is based on being offensive, being creative as opposed to stopping. “Their style of football, it’s defensive, and the polar opposite of the way we work. “It gets results, Jose has got his today and he will be happy with that. “Congratulations to Chelsea, they won the game, although they probably came for the draw. “But it’s not difficult to coach to just get 10 players right on your 18-yard box.” Quotes from Brendan, it’s hard to disagree with any of that. I have to say it really hurts, not just losing but especially to Chelsea. A rotten club from top to bottom. Congratulations to Manchester City. Good times ahead for Liverpool though, we have the right man in charge and great togetherness in the team that has taken us further than others would have thought. EDIT - forgot to mention, the YNWA immediately after Chelsea's 2nd goal is one of my favourite moments of the season. Really made me proud to be a Liverpool fan.
  5. Re: Official Liverpool Thread Bench or in place of Sterling, Coutinho, Suarez, Sturridge or Henderson
  6. Re: Official Liverpool Thread A quick glance at newsnow doesn't show any reliable papers reporting this. But I know we're interested in him and Rodgers obviously loves English players so I wouldn't be surprised if we do end up buying him.
  7. Re: English Premiership Rating Predictions Gnabry +2/3 maybe. Barkley is probably 50/50 for a +1, can't see others rising.

  9. Re: Official Liverpool Thread I don't think I'd take any of the Spurs players to be completely honest. Vertonghen - He acts like a spoilt teenage girl whenever I see him, really don't want him, Dembele - a highlights player, Sandro - not good enough, not the right type for BR, Paulinho - meh. Rodgers would take Leon Britton over Sandro as a ball-winning midfielder, he doesn't particularly want players known for their physicality. Gerrard, Henderson & Coutinho is our best midfield 3 and I don't see a reason why we need to buy a 20M+ player for those positions, be it Rakitic, Bender or whoever. We have Lucas and Allen as back-up + probably Suso or maybe Will Hughes.
  10. Re: English Premiership Rating Predictions Well, not quite:). I think Dawson will keep his 89 because of game time but there's no way he should rise. Another player who I think shouldn't rise is Willian. He suits Mourinho's style and is a good player for them, but on an individual level nothing really sets him apart from your typical pacey winger. He's scored 3 goals and assisted 1 in 23 league games for Chelsea, I don't see anything that suggests he should get a rise.
  11. Re: Official Liverpool Thread The Times say we have £40M before player sales and that we'll go back for Konoplyanka. 40m + sales is enough to get what we want. Selling Borini, Assaidi, Reina, Johnson, Toure & Aspas would bring the number to around 75M and we would need: 1 attacking player who can play as CF or wide: Lacazette, Remy, Walcott 1 attacking midfielder or a winger: Firmino, Griezmann, Konoplyanka, Lallana 2 full-backs: Shaw, Rodriguez, Moreno 1 CM: Will Hughes, Ravel Morrison (loaned out maybe) Suso Wisdom Ilori Obviously there's a lot more options, probably better ones, those were just off the top of my head. I would have loved Jay Rodriguez as the CF who can play wide, a real shame about his injury. Same goes for Viktor Fischer.
  12. Re: English Premiership Rating Predictions No, he's awful.
  13. Re: Official Liverpool Thread I think what [JMH] was trying to argue, and certainly what my opinion is, that if we'd finished 4th last season we would have added more players and/or wouldn't have sent so many players out on loan. So if we had been in Europe this season, this isn't the squad we'd have been in it with. As for transfers, firstly I need to acknowledge how great it is going to a transfer window without thinking "we absolutely need to get this right or we'll fall behind". We have Rodgers so we could buy Cleverley and Torres and we'd still be alright. We'll have some money to spend as well. Not an obscene amount but I think we'll sell Borini, Reina, Assaidi plus a couple of others so the money will be there. From our current best starting XI, Glen Johnson is the first one I would actively look to replace, after him there's Flanagan who I wouldn't mind seeing as a starter next season but we could probably find an improvement relatively cheaply (around £10M). CBs are big question marks in a lot of ways, but tbh I have no idea if we really need a new CB. Ilori, Wisdom & Suso will come back and strengthen the squad. Roberto Firmino and Ricardo Rodriguez are players we've been linked with and the kind of players who fit the bill perfectly. The Bundesliga experts here can share whether they think we can get them, if they're good enough etc etc but from what I've seen (Especially of Firmino) they'd be perfect And to Mia San Mia, who said we have delusions of grandeur. We all know that money plays a huge part in attracting players and most players' advisors and agents want their players to go where the money is. On this front, we can't compete with the likes of Real, Barca, Chelsea etc. but we won't fall far behind either. We've given Suarez approximately 200k-a-week and Sturridge is rumoured to be getting 140k-a-week so we'll leave the likes of Dortmund and Atletico behind us, and the reason I'm choosing those two clubs is that a lot of people seem to think we're just a flash in the pan like those two. We won't be. For those players who want to be in a team playing attractive football, and actually get game time, we should be really close to the top of their list. Especially young players like Shaw and Draxler (we won't be in for Draxler, just an example). People can think about all the excuses they want about us being this good but the single biggest reason is Brendan Rodgers. The man is a genius and we will no doubt be challenging for the league next season too, and could be a surprise in the CL, as well.
  14. Re: Official Liverpool Thread We shouldn't think about profit on the players we buy, we're not a feeder club. And considering Shaw is as hyped up as any other player in England at the moment, he wouldn't be that cost effective. I would be willing to spend big money on Shaw, though.
  15. Re: Respuesta: English Premiership Rating Predictions
  16. Re: Official Liverpool Thread You're correct. Not sure City will win all their remaining games, though.
  17. Re: Official Liverpool Thread If we win tomorrow, Chelsea won't even bother showing up because they know their only chance of silverware is the CL. Tomorrow probably won't be an easy game, so let's not get ahead of ourselves. We need to start that game fast and score in the opening ten minutes.
  18. Re: Official Liverpool Thread That's what Rodgers said in his press conference today.
