  1. Re: English Championship 2933 Reporting thread Bristol City Earn Draw Under New Man Read Bristol City's new era under Australian manager Mitchell Read began with fairly decent circumstances for the Division 2 strugglers, earning a 2-2 draw away at mid-table Cardiff City overnight. Bristol started well as eventual Man of the Match Christian Noboa trudged down his flank numerous times, only to deliver some average balls into the centre. Cardiff were the ones with the real chances though, as Andrey Pyatov was counting himself lucky not to have allowed at least 1 goal in the opening 15 minutes, as Cardiff's Leon Osman fluffed a breakaway from the Welsh side. They didn't miss 5 minutes later however as Argentine Javier Saviola spun and curled one into Pyatov's bottom corner, leaving the Ukrainian with no hope of saving. The goal seemed to ignite the Bristol attack and within 4 minutes Read's side were back level after a brilliant 25 yard strike from Noboa crashed into the back of the net. Bristol suddenly had all the pressure on Cardiff, and their pressure paid off 4 minutes after Noboa's striker as Fabrizio Miccolli caught the defence off-guard, latching onto a Balzaretti ball and placing it past Manuel Quin to give his side the lead. The game hit a see-sawing period as both sides continued to trouble each other with attack after attack. As Cardiff upped the pressure in the 73rd minute however, which forced back-to-back saves from Pyatov, the Welshmen equalised as German import Patrick Helmes rescued a point for his side. Read, although impressed with his sides performance against fairly difficult opponents, is still on the lookout for transfers abroad, however this may come difficult for his team as Bristol are accompanied by a 185k debt. Bristol City face Leicester City at home in 2 days time.
  2. Forgotten Manager Mitchell Read Makes Glorious Return To The Football World Former star manager, Mitchell Read, a man who previously held the reign at successful clubs in numerous leagues, including the likes of River Plate who he guided to shock back-to-back promotions, Bayern Munich, who despite their somewhat weakend squad mounted serious title challenges season after season, and even for a brief period guiding Belgium to a surprised title challenge in a World Cup league over a year ago. The 37-year-old, who signed his mark to German outfit VFB Stuttgart in the early hours of Thursday morning, stated he would do what he always aims to do at his clubs, to give the fans and players the best possible chance at success. Stuttgart is a nice choice for the Australians plans, despite the side lingering in the 3rd division with the season set to get underway. "This club deserves better than to be here in the 3rd division. My 5 year plan is to get us back where they belong, challenging the likes of United, Barca and Munich. I will not disappoint in my search for glory." Read is expected to quickly announce the purchases of numerous new players, with more news to follow.

  4. Re: World Championship 5336 Match Reports/Transfer News Kyiv Take 2nd Spot with 2nd Win Dynamo Kyiv have continued their surge to the top of the Division 3 table, following up on their 4-0 demolition of Mallorca to come from behind and take all 3 points against Espanyol. The Ukrainians hopes of securing their first successive wins since their match against Racing Santander (May 9) took a blow when Roman Martinez curled home a 25-yard strike after easily shaking off Marco Biagianti. Ismael Bangoura snatched an equaliser for Kyiv with the Guinean intercepting a back pass to leave him one-on-one with Kameni and the 24-year old made no mistake to grab his 9th league goal. Flares are lit around the ground as Bangoura equalises for Kyiv But just as they thought they would go into half-time level with Espanyol, Luis Garcia blasted a cross from Tamudo past Oleksandr Shovkovsky into the roof of the Ukrainians net. Down at half-time Read needed to do something, and he obviously did it right as Kyiv's central defender rose high as Torbinsky curled a corner in, heading home Kyiv's second equaliser of the night. Kyiv then went on a role forcing Kameni to make save after save before the 25 year old finally gave way to a Artem Milevskiy shot after the 24-year old caught the Espanyol defence napping. Milevskiy grabs Kyiv's winner in the 73rd Milevskiy's goal was the eventul winner as the Ukrainians jumped to 2nd on the table. They play Palermo on Saturday.

  12. Re: World Championship 5336 Match Reports/Transfer News Torbinsky Strikes Twice As Kyiv Kick-Start Their Cup Campaign A Dmitri Torbinsky double and Ismael Bangoura strike led Dynamo Kyiv to a comfortable 3-0 win over Division 4 side Fluminese to start their cup campaign on the right foot. 86,000 turned out to watch their side dominated by the division 3 leaders, notching up 52% possession. It didnt take long for Mario Mandzukic to apply the pressure, setting up Roman Eremenko and firing away a brilliant effort all in the space of the first 2 minutes. Yet 3 minutes later it wouldbe surprise super-signing Dmitri Torbinsky to break the deadlock, smashing home a brilliant effort 5 minutes into the game. Eremenko grabbed himself a yellow card as well as Jailton, but that didnt stop the Ukrainians as Marco Biagianti and Torbinsky both went centimetres wide from their efforts. Torbinsky just cant stop scoring for Kyiv, notching up his 5th goal in 5 games... Oleksandr Shovkovsky finally got a touch of the ball in the 20th minute and Iglaisies smashed his shot off the crossbar, with the home fans thinking the tide was beginning to turn. But Bangoura destroyed those thoughts in the 29th minute after picking up Torbinsky's short corner to curl around the blinded keeper. Torbinsky finished off the hat-trick of goals 10 minutes from half-time with a nice bottom corner finish from 10 yards out. The yellow cards kept on coming, with Leandro Amal and Marco Biagianti seeing yellow, but Roman Eremenko saw yellow again, resulting a red card for the Finnish midfielder with the 22-year old set to miss 3 weeks of action. ....While Bangoura snatched his 7th from 8 Dynamo Kyiv face Udinese in their next league match and Bayer Leverkusen in the next round of the cup.
  13. Re: World Championship 5336 Match Reports/Transfer News Kyiv Go 6 Games Unbeaten Dynamo Kyiv's stunning early season form has continued its run as the Ukrainians again bombarded the opposition to earn a 4-1 win for Kyiv and extended their unbeaten run to 6 league games. It didnt take long for the Eastern European side to break the deadlock with Bangoura striking home from a clear offside position. The Guinean played the whistle, well lack of whistle, and raced on to secure his 5th goal of the season. Borussia Dortmund tried to hit back, with Florian Kringe's striker blasting back off the bar. The rebound let to a Aleksandr Frei shot which was somehow stopped just on the line by a scrambling Shovkovsky. Bangoura continues his stunning form for Kyiv It seemed to be all Bangoura and Torbinsky as the unlikely pair seemed to be forming a telepathic communication system after creating some brilliant chances out of nothing. Torbonsky finally grabbed the 2nd goal Kyiv definately deserved, twirling around after picking up the short corner from Kravchenko to curl home his shot past Weidenfeller in the 28th minute. Torbinsky snatches a 2nd for Kyiv through some brilliant footwork and finishing Aleksandr Frei revived hopes of a comeback for the German side, blasting past the defence in the 32nd minute after a brilliant through-ball from Neven Subotic. But their hopes were crushed 11 minutes after half-time, with a diving Ismael Bangoura heading home at the back post after a hesistant Weidenfeller decided to let the ball float through, which ended up being a costly mistake. Borussia tried hard to get back into the match with Kringe's free header flying just wide. But it wasnt meant to be as surprise transfer Mario Mandzukic cooly slotted home a brilliant pass from Marco Biagianti with 19 minutes to go. Mandzukic remains one of the in-form strikers in division 3 The only dark-side of the match was the yellow-card to Russian internation Dmitri Torbinsky for an off-the-ball incident. Kyiv's next match is against Real Betis on Saturday.

  17. Re: World Championship 5336 Match Reports/Transfer News No Exit for Read As Torbinsky Remains Dominant Figure Mitchell Read's rumoured switch to division 2 side Sao Paulo was shot down by the Aussie himself after his side cruised to another 3-0 win. Coming up against a very youth-focused Racing Santander, Read's side continually blasted the Spaniards with a total of 21 shots on goal. Fans wernt at all surprised to see their side under the pump, with Torbinsky becoming a menace for Racing. The Russian finally made pressure pay, thumping home a 20-yard shot into the bottom corner. Torbinsky continues to shine at the Ukrainian club, scoring his 2nd goal for Dynamo Fellow recruit Mario Mandzuckic almost got himself on the scoresheet, blasting his shot into the far post which lead to an attack from Santander, which was only stopped by a full-stretch Shovkovsky. Santander created a few chances to equalise, but were all foiled by an in-form Shovskovsky. Dynamo knew a 1-0 goals lead wouldnt be enough and from the first attacking play of the second half, Mario Mandzukic found homself 1-on-1 after a brilliant through ball from man-of-the-match Torbinsky, drilling the shot into the bottom corner. The Croatian points to his assister Torbinsky after grabbing a 2-goal advantage Kyiv struck again inside the last 10 minutes after Ismael Bangoura intercepted a pass from Jose Moraton to set-up Mandzukic for his 2nd of the night, cooly finishing from inside the penalty area. The result came as a chance for Kyiv manager Mitchell Read to dismiss claims that he has already accepted an offer to manage division 2 side Sao Paulo. Dynamo Kyiv face Sampdoria in the first round of the Shield competition.
  18. Re: World Championship 5336 Match Reports/Transfer News 3 Goals = 3 Points For Kyiv 3 goals from 3 different players helped Dynamo Kyiv to an easy 3-0 win over Italian side Genoa to move up to 4th on the Divisioon 3 league table. With goals coming from Bangoura, Ghioane and Cernat, the Ukrainians easily cruised to victory with their almost no trouble from the visitors. The capital city side didnt have to wait long to grab an advantage as Tiberiu Ghioane showed off his footwork to dummy past Rubinho to create an easy open goal chance which the Romanian made no mistake of. Genoa almost equalised as Raffael Palldino's shot fired against the bar for 25-yards. The next long-range effort, this time from Kyiv, cooly curled into the top corner from Ismael Bangoura, with the keeper remaining motionless to allow it to fly into the top corner. Bangoura strikes his long-range stunner Diakhite almost snatched his 2nd goal of the season with Rubinho making a brilliant save to deny the defender. Rubinho remaineda strong force in the Genoa line-up, denying what could have been an 8-0 lead at half-time. The Brazilian had to give way sometime and it would take a mix-up in defence which allowed Cernat to find himself on target from a yard out to fire home with 18minutes to go to finish off the 3-0 win. Cernat finds himself with an easy opportunity to strike home The win sees the Ukrainians jump up 1 to 4th on 11 points. They face Racing Santander on Saturday.

  21. Re: World Championship 5336 Match Reports/Transfer News Kyiv Snatch Another Point Thanks to Some Russian Magic Dynamo Kyiv have used up another "get-out-of-jail" snatching a 1-1 draw with French side Bordeux after Russian recruit Dmitri Torbinsky slotted a late equaliser for the Ukrainians. The game was a welcome relief for Dynamo folliwng a tough mid-week match against Sampdoria which saw Kyiv under-pressure through-out the match. But it was the team from the capital applying the pressure early on, with Pocognoli and Milevsky creating some obvious goal-scoring opportunities but were let down by some poor finishing. And then out of nothing, Fernando Cavenaghi broke away from the defence to chip the advancing Shovkovsky to draw first blood in the 17th minute after showing no signs of attacking in the open stages. Cavenaghi celebrates Bordeux's first goal of the night Gourcuff almost made it 2-0 after half-time as Shovkovsky watched the Frenchmen's chip rebound out of the bar. Alou Diarra should of secured the win in the 58th minute, blasting the rebounded shot over the bar. Mario Mandzukic was away on goal, only to be pulled up for a high challenge which had occured before the break away, resulting in a yellow card for the Croatian. And just as Bordeux looked set to score, Kyiv did just as they had in the first half as Torbinsky spun past his marker before firing low into the bottom corner less then 9 minutes from time to snatch another point for Kyiv. The Russian Torbinsky is estatic after scoring his debut goal Drama surrounded the final seconds as Mario Mandzukic was blatently fouled in the box, only for it to be called play-on by Slovak referee Damir Skomina. Both sets of fans went home with sour tastes in their mouths, with the Bordeux fans still in shock about the goal and Kyiv fans still shouting abuse over the penalty.
