Morecambe's experience hold on to win
Morecambe's old guns stepped up again tonight and showed that they are still as valuable as ever. Goals from the oldest guys in the squad kept us on the right road.
Notts County slipping up tonight means we have now closed the gap with them to just the one point.
A away tie vs York City up next in the league.

2 wins in a row for Mansfield moves us up to 16th with 5 points difference from the top.
Next up Sir Mark Hughes's Stevanage which has been in trouble aswell so anything less then 3 points would be a shame.

Sorry for another whine this close to Christmas but SM needs to review the finances.
It is incredible that 50% of a Div 4 clubs gate receipts are spent on ground maintenance.
No business, whether in football or not, could run their profit margin that close to the wind and still expect to remain solvent.
In the meantime Swindon Town FC respectfully requests that all fans that attend future matches comply with the following:-
    1. Stand up throughout the game. There are so few of you now that you should all be able to maneuver to a position where you can still see without restricting the view of anyone else.
    2. For those that are unable to stand for 90 minutes we suggest you bring your own seating or purchase one of those lightweight plastic collapsible chairs that are available from the club shop at £5.99. Existing seating will be removed and stored in a place where there is no possibility of it being damaged.
    3. Please note that nothing that could result in litter will be sold or even allowed to be brought into the stadium. Zero litter = zero need for cleaners = profit.
    4. Please bring torches with you. All stadium lighting with the exception of the floodlights of course, will remain switched off throughout the match. Batteries will be available at the club shop that will suit most flashlights.
    5. The first 20 spectators to arrive will be required to wear yellow jackets and will be known as "club stewards" throughout the match. Jackets to be returned at the exit turnstiles on completion.
    6. Any spectators observed to be causing damage to club property or not complying with these rules will be required to buy an exit-ticket in addition to their entrance ticket. Season ticket holders can purchase a season-exit ticket at 50% cost. Remaining supporters will be granted discounted exit-tickets on an availability basis.
Other initiatives to reduce maintenance costs include the fitting of GE economy lightbulbs in the floodlights. Substitutes being used to cut the grass and coaching staff watering the pitch at half time.
Club skipper, Christian Noboa, will be leading by example and will be selling wrapper-free Christmas Toffee-apples with edible sticks at our next home match. (Please bring your own Apples).
Happy Christmas from the staff, management and players at Swindon Town FC.

    Mathias Johnsen
18 years old and an unknown face to many; the Norwegian has surprised many Carlisle fans over the past few days. The reason being that he has come on for the last fifteen minutes of each of the last two games and made a couple of headlines in the process.
Coming on against Swindon on Monday, the youngster scored a dramatic equaliser within seconds of replacing Jens Hegeler. This was deemed impressive enough by manager Adriano to credit another opportunity against Macclesfield on Wednesday.
Here he came on in the 75th minute, yet again, and set up teammate Vincent Aboubakar within minutes of his arrival.
Fans have started referring to him as 'the Super Sub' and it's no wonder why. Adriano has not been afraid to praise his performances although insists fans do not get carried away mentioning that 'he is only young and it would be wrong to heap that much pressure on him after only 30 minutes of football. I still view him as a youth player who can only improve but will require time. There will be more to see of him though, Jens Hegeler has now gone for good and Johnsen is listed as a first-team player this season.'
There may be a few extra eyes on the Blues' bench this weekend when they face Oldham Athletic, where the likes of Mathias Johnsen and other youth players are often found. Could he get another chance to prove himself? Or could Adriano even consider starting him? The only thing that is certain is that there haven't been many 10k signings with a better immediate impact than this one.

    Superstars arrive in Nuneaton
New line up includes World cup star !
Top signing is former Stevenage and Inter Milan goalie Luca Castellazi. Well known for his bench warming exploits in recent years, the former Sampdoria stallwart is looking forward to leading Nuneaton to automatic promotion this season.
In defense Clint Hill a former QPR man who has revelled in his key defensive role in recent seasons.
Former Atalanta defender MIchele Ferri partners Hill in a stong back line which should keep most of division 5 at bay.
The Moroccan duo of International player El Kaddouri and former Nancy star Ouaddou make up the backline.
Perhaps the most famous signing is Cuauhtémoc Blanco. Famous for the Blanco boing , this attacking midfielder brings real steel to the centre of the park. Roberto Torres the young Osasuna starlet joins him in an attacking midfield combination.
Lee Barnard of Southampton plays up top along with former Tom player Panchenko. A host of younger players hope to show sufficient improvement to challenge these stars. Lets see how they gel , especially with 1 more star signing set to join .

    Wycombe Wanderers 2 - 1 Torquay United
    Britton 16'
    Alonso 25'
Wycombe win again to go top of the table and now maintain the only 100% record in the Division. Britton scored for the second match running and the full-back being played in a more attacking role Marcos Alonso impressed yet again with a goal of his own. The only downside is that Jones got reckless and was sent off leaving us without his attacking abilities for the next game. Wisdom also picked up a knock so will likely miss the next match too.
    The team ratings:
    1. Agassa - 6
    2. Jenkinson - 7
    6. Wisdom - 6
    5. Brown - 7
    3. D'Ambrosio - 8
    7. Britton - 8 (1 goal, MOTM)
    12. Rafinha - 7
    17. Elmohamady - 7
    10. Lodeiro -7 (1 assist)
    11. Alonso - 7 (1 goal)
    9. Jones - 5 (RC)
    4. Toure - 7
    8. Bakic - 6

    Division 4 - Season Preview
A new season starts on Sunday in 28697 with four big boys coming down and two sides bouncing straight back up from non-league doom to join the 18 sophomores.
    Promotion Favourites:
    Barnet
They may have just been promoted but heavy investment in players such as Pienaar and Bacca have made them favourites with most bookies. Champions by means of dominance in Division 5 last season proved that they are capable of leading the way and so the spotlight will be on manager Richard Sheppard this weekend when they play Crewe.
    Other Contenders:
    Walsall
Probably the biggest threat coming down from the Division above; David Crawford's side includes some big names from Eastern Europe to trouble defences and attackers alike in the fourth tier.
    Chesterfield
Going in to the new season, they might not have the strongest squad on paper but last season's play-off finalists know what it takes to compete at the top. Hossam Ali's side will hope to continue to surprise.
    Colchester United
Another side relegated from Division 3 last season; Colchester, under the management of Matko Maric, bring their young squad to where they may be able to flourish.
    Aldershot Town
Promoted from Division 5 last season, Andy Burr has invested well in building up what is one of the stronger squads on paper, including the likes of Aliadiere. No stranger to competing at the top, expect much the same.
    Wycombe Wanderers
After missing out on automatic promotion last season; Wycombe go into this one as the highest finishers to remain. Adriano's first full season in charge sees him joined by the likes of Kenwyne Jones and Wes Brown.
    Fleetwood Town
They came a little short last season but with a squad not only full of quality but also quantity - manager Lee Reynolds should be aiming for a top 7 finish this time round.
    Bury
Filled with only young talent from England; Bury are many neutral's favourite because of what Josh Harman is contributing to the future of our international stage.
    Relegation Favourites:
Down at the other end of the table, bookies have selected Morecambe and Dagenham & Redbridge as their favourites for the drop. Each with lesser squads and, in the case of Morecambe, there's not a lot of room for rotation. Anything that isn't relegation come the end of the season will be a great success for either manager.
    Golden Boot Contenders:
    Carlos Bacca (Barnet)
    Jeremie Aliadiere (Aldershot Town)
    Kenwyne Jones (Wycombe Wanderers)
    Imanol Agirretxe (Mansfield Town)
    Pierre-Michel Lasogga (Crewe Alexandra)

Wycombe Wanderers: Player of the Season Awards
Manager's Player of the Season: Marcos Alonso
I made this lad one of my first signings when I joined Wycombe and he has proved me right to do so. Strong performances both at LB and on the wing meant that he contributed a lot to our successes and played more than almost anyone.
Player's Player of the Season: Nicolas Lodeiro
He's become known as the 'assist king' around the squad and it's no wonder why having managed 13 from 19 starts last season. Almost the perfect attacking minded midfielder and undoubtedly our biggest asset.
Young Player of the Season: Santos Pecks
Started a lot of matches at the back and was surprisingly full of confidence and hard to beat at the young age of 20. I'm sure this kid has got a massive future on him but his present hasn't proved too bad either.
Player to Watch Next Season: Kossi Agassa
Due to financial limitations, I was unable to purchase my own choice of keeper last season and so had to stand by the previous manager's. Hopefully this season with my own choice veteran between the posts we will be able to stop conceding the late goals that frustrated me time and time again and eventually proved to be so costly.
Young Player to Watch Next Season: Harry Maguire
He played a lot and performed well last season in the CB role and I feel sure he'll do much the same for us next season. Not quite as strong yet as Pecks but perhaps soon they'll grow to be quite the partnership.

    The Carlisle Recovery
It was June when I managed to find my way into the exclusive 7777 with the tricky task of recovering a Carlisle side already relegated from Div. 3 and in financial turmoil. Now completing my first season in charge, where survival was the aim, I slugged through to compete near the top till the end - eventually finishing 9th. The squad was thin and it was a clean up procedure to keep us out of the red whilst still competing.
I held myself from making major changes so as not to damage our play-off chances but now I am fully able to put my own stamp on the club and have pushed ourselves comfortably out of debt.
Capuano, Bezus, Rojas and Ahmadzai have all departed in the past week; producing massive profits which now gives me a respectable transfer budget to play with.
Gebre Selassie has joined to at last add a big name to the defence and Diawara looks set to follow. Their combined transfer fees amount to about what was received for Capuano - so an 89 and an 87 for an 85 was an irrefutable bit of business.
We're far from being back on level ground but I like to think that at last we can say we've departed the free falling era of the previous 6 managers and can perhaps one day return to the era of club legend Marco Rodrigues.

Adriano Named New Wycombe Wanderers Manager
A bit surprising, however things were simply not working for me at Grimsby. I couldn't construct any form - one week we stole 3 points, the next we were thrashed; choosing quality over depth in the squad was a huge mistake.
I take over a club 2nd in the table and with a squad that I can only imagine are here for sell on value as few seem to have much of a future. Although, right now they are performing out of their skins. A tough start at home to Hartlepool (we're impressively unbeaten at home so far this season, so I hope not to spoil that) and next its a trip to top of the table Accrington.
Hopefully my old job goes to someone a little more capable (at least I saw it out unlike quitting the entire setup like many have in the bottom tier) and I have found my place in 28697.

As we are in the early days of this new GameWorld; Round 2 will be the midweek fixtures on Thursday 15th August (To help boost popularity for the GW.) The chosen fixtures will be posted here tomorrow so you'll have plenty of time to predict.
Anyone is free to join in, even if you missed todays predictions. Over the course of the season missing one round shouldn't prove too damaging.
