    Dave Leigh got a reaction from Dracolis in ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIP 1 (Reduce the log-in time to 14 days!)
    After much discontent by all the active managers in EC1, we would like the log-in time reduced to 14 days.

    The game world is clogged with inactive managers that log-in only once every 31 days and never get involved with transfers.

    We feel that this would get some of the massive waiting list of managers that want to get in this set-up a chance and improve the games world at the same time.

    Blades dulled by battling Bolton
    Bolton began season 25 with a blistering start with a 2-1 victory over red-hot favourites Sheffield United!
    Bolton have won 7 and lost 1 in the last 8 encounteres between thses two side's and are definately Sheffield United's bogey side!
    Uruguay interenational Martín Cáceres was gigantic at the back and his commanding preformance earned him the Man of the Match award.

    There is a long way to go until the final match when they travel to Barnesley on June 17th. After promotion as Champions from Division 2 in Season 21 Bolton aim to still be in Division 1 when their 4th consecutive Division 1 campaign comes to a close.
    Bolton did not do a lot of business in the transfer window during close season with only talented prospect Viktor Fischer arriving from Millwall with Magnus Eikrem departing for Malmö FF

    Hiya mate.
    The Chances of getting a club in EC1 is very small. Few seem to quit but when they do the manager who offers the club usually arranges it so that one of their friends gets to take the club (if they do not want the offered club)...or if they don't log on for 5 days it's usually a random player that just happened to log on at the right time.

    Bolton Smash club transfer record!

    Bolton have smashed the clubs transfer record that has stood for over 6 years. The signing of Italy international Dani Osvaldo for 21m from Reading beats the old club transfer record by 1m.
    On 10 July 2008 Bolton paid Portsmouth 20m for the services of Andrey Arshavin.
    Alessandro Matri, who currently holds the club record at Bolton for scoring the most goals in a season 21, (a record that was previously held by Hernan Crespo on 20)...heads out of the club for 10m...destination - Darlington 1883.
    Osvaldo will make his debut for Bolton in the SMFA Shield Quarter Final Leg 2, where Bolton hope to see off Sporting CP and claim a place in the semi-final.

    Greetings ya'all!
    Not posted or logged onto the forum for a bit (working away from home etc).
    I am greeted by no less than 14 private messages from people asking me to let them know when a club will become available.
    I do feel for these people...especially when we have quite afew managers that really cannot be ar**d and log in once a month only so that they don't loose their club...which I really cannot see the point in that!
    I have been bending the Dev teams ear asking for...
    1. Minimise the log-in time to 14 days in EC1.
    Some would complain that they may go on holiday so cannot log-in for 14 days...solution buy a Gold membership so you have holiday mode option. An annual Gold membership costs less than an English tenner...so it's peanuts to buy!
    This would get managers in who actually want to manage and would freshen up a very stale transfer market.
    2. Add a Division 5 to EC1 (effectively the none-league) opens 20 spaces for new managers.
    Give each club 30 million to start with so they can get off to a good start and build there squads so they can compete.
    3. I would like to see a minimum rating of 200 to get in EC1 (for NEW joining managers)...yes there are managers that have less than this in EC1 but they are already in so we can't just kick them out.
    Well just a few things I have suggested to the Devs...but hey! I am only one voice...if more of you in EC1 (or wanting to join EC1) message them...we have more of a chance of making things happen.

    ...ok here is my report.......
    EC1 Division 1 - Last 3 games!
    Who will win it?!
    Who will go down?!
    Who will be joining us from Division 2?!
    Lets us start at the top;
    With a Reading win over Fulham and a Manchester united defeat against Arsenal
    ...and the title is Teje's
    However, my prediction after the next games the Championship race will look like this;
    Reading - 76
    Man Utd - 72
    Reading have a SMFA Shield Semi Final Leg 1 against Fulham, before they play them in the league the day after.
    Fulham with having nothing to lose, I suspect will put their strongest 11 out in the SMFA Shield. However the way the fixtures have fallen will give Teje food for thought on selection. I would suspect he will save his strongest 11 for the league game on Wednesday.
    Manchester United have just the league to focus on and this may give them some advantage, as Shels will not have any selection headaches. Man Utd have Arsenal at home next game and The Gunners have been in woeful form this season...so I think both Reading and Man Utd will pick up 3 points.
    Now lets look at the bottom of the table;
    Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea. I will admit, I am scratching my head as to why these 3 clubs are in danger of relegation, as all 3 clubs first 11 is more than capable of picking up 3 points against anybody!
    On paper, you would have said Bolton Wanderers, Boston United and Nottingham Forest would go down, as they have arguably the weakest first 11 selection in the division...looks like none of them will go down, especially high flying Boston. It is very rare that all 3 promotees from last season stay up, but along with West Ham United, Bolton and Forest have done just that.
    Let us face facts Chelsea...barring a miracle are going to be in Division 2 next season.
    That leaves Arsenal and Spurs...
    Spurs have the easiest run in...but I think they are doomed to Division 2.
    Out of the bottom 3, I think only Arsenal have a chance of staying up, but with a game against title contenders Man Utd coming up, I see it as unlikely.
    Should Liverpool beat Rushden and Diamonds, then Diamonds would have to lose the last 2 and Arsenal would have to pick up at least 4 points from the last 2. If Liverpool lose the last 3 then Arsenal would need at least 2 wins out of 3...as Liverpool have a vastly superior goal differenc to Arsenal...so I don't think 4 points would be enough.
    In regard to the other two *realistic* possible relegation candidates; Rushden and Diamonds and Liverpool have a 6...ney!...12 pointer, next game as they play each other.
    It seems almost inconceivable that 6 times title winners Liverpool would end up in division 2!
    Diamond's manager; Chris Exley has carried his club all the way from Division 4 into the top division with 3 knock-out competition wins along the way.
    Respect to both of these managers.
    So who will be joining us?
    Newcastle United have walked Division 2 with aplomb! 3 games to go and they are already Champions and currently 13 points ahead of second placed Darlington 1883.
    On to Darlington 1883...they are all but promoted in my book. For them to not gain automatic promotion they would have to lose all 3 of the last remaining and 3rd place Millwall would have to win all 3!
    So for me it is all eyes on the play-offs to find who is going to be the 3rd promoted side.
    Millwall, Manchester City, Birmingham City, Coventry City, Preston North End, Blackpool, Leeds United and Sunderland are all still in the mix for promotion.
    Personally I think only Preston or Blackpool have a real chance of sneaking into the play-off places.
    If I was going to take a punt on who the play-off winners will be, then I would have to say Millwall.
    Millwall definately do not have one of the strongest squads in the Division, however...they have a very, very good manager!
    James Bolton ought to be very proud...finished as Division 3 Champions last season and this season won the English Shield.
    If James does get into Division 2 next season...then what an achievement that would be!!
    Herb may even let you have Eto'o at a cut-price as a prize!

    Yo guys apologies for lack of comms been real busy.
    I see Al Lunn quit Barnsley to take Birmingham.
    The new Barnsley manager seems to have got busy in the transfer market straight away.
    I must say though...with the massive que wanting EC1 teams...he was a very lucky lad;
    Only joined SM in January this year and a rating of 44!
    The fourth team he manages and he gets in EC1.
    ...still I hope he has much success with his new team.
    I have noticed many managers in EC1 seem to only bother to log on once a month just so they do not loose there team...and never seem to indulge in the transfer market or spend much time with tactics.
    True is up to them what they do but the competition is rather stale because of inactive managers.
    I made a suggestion to my good RL friend Andy (who is one of the creators of SM). I suggested that high demand set-ups like EC1 should have a shorter log-in restriction say 7 days instead of 30. If someone was going on holiday or working away they have 3 free holiday extensions over a 12 month period. True an inactive manager could use all 3 Holiday extensions back to back...but then they would have to log-on very 7 days for 9 months. I think they would soon tire of this and then a manager who wishes to take part properly could have the opportunity to take a team.
    Anyways...just a thought...dunno what you guys think of it?

    Bolton having cemented their promotion last game claimed the Division 2 title with a 2-1 win at home against Oxford United.
    Title Challengers West Ham United managed to sweep Nottingham Forest aside 5-2 at home...but the result was not enough with Bolton's win.
    Newcastle, Forest and Preston are all in the bag for the play-offs, the last place contended will be taken by either West Brom or Darlington.

    An amazing result for my Bolton. The best home win in the clubs history.
    Things remain interesting in the league also, with Bolton in 3rd spot just 2 points behind the league leaders: Preston North End.
    For many seasons at this stage Bolton have been sat in a mid-table wilderness.
    I am praying this time around we get back into Division 1!

    Kristoffer Nordfeldt
    SC Heerenveen (Netherlands)
    Rated - 85
    At 6' 3" he is a commanding presence and has been likened to Peter Schmeichel.
    He has been outstanding for Heerenveen since his transfer from IF Brommapojkarna last March.
    Liverpool are watching Kristoffer Nordfeldt.
    The 23 year old Swedish international was linked with the Reds last summer and remains on their radar as manager Brendan Rodgers plans to find a long-term replacement for inconsistant Pepe Reina.
    With the emergance or rather the lack of up and coming young keepers he is well worth a punt, I see and 87 rating for him soon. If his move to Liverpool does materialise in the summer...don't be suprised to see Reina deposed...if that happens then ching-ching!

    However' date=' that system [b']HAS TO[/b] be kept up to date otherwise the whole game loses it's integrity.
    Sadly, this is what is happening...the game is becoming stale.
    Back in the day...ratings happened faster and quite often 2-3 would be added or removed, so the ratings had more of an impact.

    I think the old system was better however...they could improve on this...
    Example...say Italian Ratings are 3 months away but Inter Milan have a player that is playing exceptional...and to wait for 3 months to reflect his ability would not be accurate...then raise his rating...regardless of schedule.
    This could be applied to palyers that have shown unexpected exceptional preformances like ;

    Yup you have probably never heard of him.
    At 17 he has just broken into the Valur team this season.
    A creative midfielder with some incredible pace and has a great score percentage for a midfielder - he has scored 4 times in his last 6 appearances.
    He has already caught the attention of some notable clubs; Liverpool, Ajax, Dortmund and Newcastle United.
    Chances are he may be leaving Iceland this summer and well worth taking a punt for your SM Youth Team why he still is available in the game for peanuts.

    PER CILJAN SKELBRED

    Bolton manager Dave Leigh has given assurances to the young norwegian that he is still firmly in his plans for the future.
    he said;
    There was a time at Bolton when we were happy to have highly paid, world-class but aging stars at Bolton that is on of the reasons why players like Marcos-Senna was allowed to leave.
    We have to build for the future!
    Maybe not this season or the next but I feel the youth investment will pay very soon.
    This why Skjelbred and other like him like Muller, Kjear, Van der Weil and several others will not be sold.
    We have a fantastic scouting system so why would we sell for a few extra million quid and in a few seasons another club reaps the benefit.
    I made that mistake once by allowing Juan Mata to leave for Bradford City...I will not be repeating that mistake!

    16 teams will nicely give 4 groups of 4, and i doubt very much whether we'd ever get 32 teams (maybe next time )
