TALENTED TURK YILDIZ JOINS BORO TILL END OF SEASON

Out of favour Fulham forward Mehmet Yildiz has agreed to join the boro ranks until the end of the season on a loan deal. Yildiz has been at a mixture of teams so far this season, and looks like he will end the season at his third side - Middlesbrough. He has only achieved 2 goals this season, but Tom is sure he will make a big difference. "Mehmet needs the chance to shine," "He ahsnt really had that yet, so this is something new and better for him, he has no excuses,"
Tom has also confirmed the club's finance is back on track after the departure of Baba Collins (4m). James Fowler is set to join his out of the exit door, to only strengthen the budget.
Tom has also hinted a 'inspriational' signing to come in the next 48 hours at most!!!!!

I've updated the stats for each player the weekend's games. Here's a review of the weekend's games indicating which of our Argentine youngsters played a part, each with a video of the game's highlights:

    Matchday 9
    Friday, 9th April '09:

    Tigre 1-1 Newell's Old Boys
Argentinos Juniors finally managed to obtain their first win of the Clausura in an impressive win over high-flyers Lanus. Ignacio Canuto got them off to a great start with an early strike before being pegged back just before half time. Striker Gabriel Hauche sealed the win early in the second half for his first of the Clausura, with Argentinos managing to hold on for the rest of game. Christian Menendez (Fwd, 21, 75) made a late appearance as a substitute as Lanus tried to find an equaliser in vain.
Meanwhile, Tigre and Newell's Old Boys played out a 1-1 draw - Newell's 5th of the calendar year. Mauro Formica and Ivan Pillud both made lasting contributions to the game, with the latter being withdrawn towards the end of the game. Formica, in fact, was heavily involved in Newell's goal and grabbed his second assist of the Clausura. Both of the aforementioned were issued a yellow card, also.
Two youngsters who played a large chunk of the game for Tigre were R. Botta (19, NOT ON DB)and Maximiliano Oliva. Botta is so unknown to me, that I am unsure of his first name at present! Oliva was making his first appearance of the Clausura after a handful of games last Apertura, replacing Pablo Fontanello in the first half due to injury.

    Banfield 0-0 San Martin

In Godoy's draw against Gimnasia de Jujuy, only Jesus Vera's brief, cameo appearance from the substitute's bench was noteable.
Federico Mancuello managed his second goal in as many weeks to continue his impressive form this Clausura. Independiente's topsy-turvy form continued as they beat Huracan at home, with in-form Daniel Montengro netting the winner. Matias De Federico gave Huracan an early lead with all three goals coming in the first 15 minutes - it was De Federico's third goal of the Clausura from 9 starts. Javier Pastore and Gaston Monzon again managed a full 90 minutes playing time, as did Sergio Vittor for Independiente. A new name to me, Nicolas Delmonte, started his first game for Inde in this fixture, lining up at full-back, playing 58 minutes before being substituted. Nicolas Mazzola played a large part of the fixture up front, replacing Leonel Rios due to injury.
Fabian Castillo's substitution 20 minutes into the second half helped spark a Colon equaliser and earn the home side a point in their fixture against Arsenal de Serandi. He replaced Sebastian Sciorilli who was making his third start of the Clausura. Alfredo Ramirez also made his 8th appearance of the Clausura, departing at the same time as Sciorilli. For Arsenal, Ivan Marcone was left on the bench again and was unused. More optimistically, Hugo Nervo made his second consecutive start after coming out of nowhere for his debut last week. Franco Jara made his 5th appearance of the Clausura and netted Arsenal goal, while Nicolas Aguirre made a late substitutes appearance.
Banfield and San Martin played out a drab, goalless draw, in which James Rodriguez made a cameo appearance towards the end of the game.

    Sunday, 11th April '09
    San Lorenzo 0-1 Velez Sarsfield

Nicolas Otamendi continued his fine run of form in the Velez defence as his side maintained their unbeaten record for this Clausura, narrowly beating San Lorenzo 1-0. Gaston Diaz remains on the bench for the now top of the league side, meaning Otamendi seems to have won this battle for the position. If Velez can keep up this great from, Otamendi is sure for a big rise come the Summer time. Christian Chavez was relegated to the bench for this fixture, but entered the fray at half-time. Unfortunately, he still doesn't seemed to have found his shooting boots yet and his dry spell without a goal continues. Midfielder Damien Martinez followed up his start in last week's fixture with a cameo appearance as a substitute and Velez winger Leandro Velazquez made his first start of the Clausura.
Boca Juniors indifferent form this Clausura with a defeat to struggling Estudiantes. Gaston Fernandez first-half strike helped lift the home side of the bottom of the table and condemn Boca to their 4th defeat of the Clausura. Young left-back Raul Iberbia kept his place in the side and helped Estudiantes to their third clean sheet of the season. In fairness to Boca, they were fielding a highly weakened team, with youngster Gaston Sauro making his full debut, Ezequiel Munoz his first start of the Clausura (albeit with 4 Copa Sudamerica starts beforehand) along with other notable, regular starters missing. Ezequiel Benavidez made fifth appearance of the Clausura from the bench.
Lucas Aveldano and Alfredo Matias Martinez continuted their fine run of form, along with Racing's fine run of form, as Racing won 1-0 at Rosario Central. It was the fourth consecutive clean sheet for Racing, with the young defenders appearing in all of those games. Guillermo Burdisso and Milton Caraglio also got another 90 minutes under thier belt as Rosario's four-game unbeaten run game to an end. Full-back Nahuel Valentini made his first start of the Clausura, playing the full 90 minutes.
River Plate and Gimnasia la Plata played out an enjoyable 2-2 draw in Buenos Aires. Mauro Alberto Diaz came on as a half-time substitute and scored the equalising goal - the 18-year-old's first for River Plate. Youngster Gustavo Bou also made an appearance for the bench for River Plate. Gimnasia's Denis Stracqualursi made another appearance from the substitutes bench this time as Lucas Nahuel Castro made his first appearance for the club.

Gazza Gets Off To Best Possible Start As Millwall Win in Derby
Gazza couldnt of made a better start to his life at Millwall. Not only was it a much needed win but against bitter rivals West Ham, who was top of the coca cola Championship, but they have now dropped to 3rd.
    3- 2
There wasnt a empty seat at the start of this much anticipated affair and it didnt take long for the match to live up to the expectations. In the 3rd minute the never ageing defensive Midfielder David Albelda followed up a shot saved by Iker Cassilas.

    *Makes It 1-0*
Millwall contiued to put on the pressure as they had shot after shot. but they jus couldnt find the West Ham net again. Untill Felix Fabinho doubled thier lead when some excelent pass's in the middle of the park lead to Fabinho being one - on - one with the goalkeeper, and he finishes with ease.

    *Doubles Millwalls Lead*
The 2nd Millwall goal must of woken up West ham as they finally shown why they are top of the table. Shots from Srna tested Boruc but the millwall goal was still intact. untill the 18th minute when young dain Niklos Bendtner pulled one back with a spectacular long range effort which flew into the top corner

    Bendtner Grabs One Back
And thats how it stayed untill half time. with both side's keepers having to be on thier toes.
West ham were the team fastest out of the blocks in the second half as Millwall had to rely on keeper Boruc to save efforts from Sissoko, Srna, Bendtner. And then a break which left West ham short at the back lead to Millwalls 3rd. a cross from Shuan Wright Phillips was headed home by CB Andres Scotti

    Scotti Made it 3
This goal sempt to wake up west ham again as only 3 minutes later Perotta volleyed it past the motionless keeper.

*Perotta Makes it a contest again with his superb volley*
That was the last goal in the match.even tho both teams tried for another goal. the score was the same as the Millwall fans went into raptures

The Millwall Fans are kept of the pitch by several Police horses.

Plymouth were involved in a 7 goal thriller at Home Park this evening, but unfortunatly, didnt come out the victors in what was a spectacular match.
Ledesma (2) & Meriem got the goals for Toggs'es outfit on the night, but it wasn't enough too overcome Division 3 side Rochdale, who continue on in the English Cup.
Toggs said: 'I wont lie, i put out a squad i felt was capable of overcoming Rochhy. However, it hasn't turned out that way. Fair shout too Rochdale and i wish them the best, but i feel this is a blessing in disguise as we can now focus on becoming a Premiership side once again.'
Plymouth travel too bottom club Blackpool on Wednesday, but Toggs predicts a very hard match. Toggs thinks Blackpool has as much strength as Plymouth, and admits he'd take a point. Felipe Melo could feature after his 2 week absence, through injury.

"I'm delighted, just absolutely over the moon!!! To beat a quality team, managed by a top manager is always a fine achievement. The fact that I was forced to rest 2 of my 'stars' in Aguero and Trezeguet, made the victory all the sweeter. My Norwich lost to a weaker Barnsley team on penalties. It was a pretty even game, they had a few more shots but we had the better possession. A little disapointed to go out. All focus now moves to our promotion challenge. Currently sitting top of division 2, level on points with Rushden but with the better goal difference. Next up for us is a home game against struggling Swansea City. Hopefully we can bag another 3 points.

I am soooo glad that United dropped points...not because I have any dislike for united (my two brothers and my dad are Reds fans)...I drew the shortest straw being a Bolton fan! LOL!
Yep...Bolton will never win The Premiership the best we can hope for is beating one of the big four...(which we have done a few times in recent seasons).
A good cup run and getting into The UEFA cup now and again...oh and signing the odd magical player now and again like Jay Jay Okocha!
    But I am digressing...
I am pleased that united have dropped points and Liverpool are breathing down their necks as it makes the race for the title very interesting.
If United had beaten Liverpool at Old Trafford and Fulham away (two results that were very probable!)...the title race would have been pretty much over.
It would be nice for Liverpool to win it this time as someone elses name besides Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal would be on the trophy.
Whoever wins I hope this goes to the wire and is decided on the final day of the season...hopefully Chelsea can get into the mix before then as well!
Same goes for the relegation battle (as long as Bolton are not involved LOL!)

I just would like to know the general opnion of forumers regarding Artur Boruc's rating.
Especially after his impressive preformances in Euro 2008, in my opinion kept a pretty much ordinary Poland from some embarrassing defeats.
David James and Shay Given are rated at 92, my opinion is that Boruc is a better goal keeper than them and he is only rated 91.
Again only my opinion, but Boruc is as good as Liverpool's Reina and Reina is rated 93.
What rating do you think Boruc should have which would be more accurate to his ability and preformances?
