    Re: English Championship 1
    Season 8 : Final Day
Season 8 in EC1 has thrown interesting occurances.
    Here is Dave Leigh's summary:
    Division 1
    Champions are between Manchester United
    and Arsenal...
my money is on Arsenal winning it!
    Relagated: Millwall,
    Hull City & Blackpool...Millwall
were unlucky but Blackpool and Hull City both have world class teams,
the reason they are relegated is that both clubs have
**** managers, especially who Blackpool have the corrupt Ben Hewett!
    Division 2
    Norwich City are
worthy champions who walked the division and
also won the EC1 Cup! The Canaries manager
Leigh Auston, looks like he will be going places in
Division 1 with Norwich Next season.
    Going up with Norwich are
    Wigan and Sheffield Wednesday.
Swindon Town and Gillingham are down and will be joined by Carlisle United or Bristol City.
I tip Bristol City to stay up.
    Division 3
Going up are 3 fallen giants from Division 1: Reading, Tottenham and Everton.
The title will go to Reading or Spurs...my money is on Spurs!
Relegated are Port Vale, Crewe and Doncaster Rovers.
    Division 4
    Burnley are
    champions and Wycombe also
    go up.
Joining them will be Chesterfield, Manchester City or Huddersfield.
    Man City face rock
bottom club Derby County so are
    gauranteed 3 points.
Though if either Chesterfield or Huddersfield get a win and City don't
then one of them are up, though lack of a City
win and a point will see Chesterfield promoted.
I am going to go for the wild card and say Huddersfield Town!

    SEE YA' ALL
    NEXT SEASON!

    Back in the Race!
After Bolton's 2-1 victory over league leaders they are back in the title race.
Realistically the title will go to Arsenal, Manchester United or Bolton.
    Dave Leigh had this to say;
"Hopefully that win will inspire my lads to give a valiant battle to win the EC1 title that has been almost ours a few times over the seasons.
We are up against two very strong teams in Arsenal and current champions Manchester United, who have two very good managers in charge.
It has been a real team effort this season with a lot of heroes in the squad.
Again two of our Argentina players Crespo and Sorin have lead the team and I would name these two as the greatest Bolton EC1 players ever!
Good to see Delfy and Teb move a closer to staying up, everyone at Bolton wishes them luck."

Anyone wanting to sign the next Ryan Giggs for Peanuts read on:
A mate of mine had been on holiday in Wales for the summer and we were having a chat about football when he mentioned Angelo Dragone.
He saw him play and said he has bags of talent and is a great prospect.
Apparantly he is a midfielder with lots of talent and very similiar to Ryan Giggs in his style.
He only turned 17 in march and is destined for bigger and better things as he was being tracked by several top clubs, including Liverpool.
Locals reackon his career will run down the same path as Gareth Bale.
He is rated a mere 61 but it is sure to rise...at 50k he is worth the gamble!

A message from former Lyn Oslo manager Dave Leigh.
After 3 strikes after unintentional breaking ofthe rules I was asked to resign by Col.
I have no problem with this.
Rules are rules and Col pointed out the penalty for breaking the rules at the beginning.
My apologies to Col as I am sure I gave him a headache!
I would like to take this oppurtunity to wish Col and all the managers in THE ONE all the best.
Their are no hard feelings either way.
    Have a good 'un lads!

I pointed out that there were two players called Raffaele BIANCO on the EC1 database.
I bought Raffaele BIANCO for my Bolton team a couple of months ago from Juventus as I had been scouting him and heard he is a future international for Italy.
This season Juventus loaned him to Piacenza to gain first team experience.
The 'second' Bianco that was added at Piacenza at a later date, I logged in this morning to find that my Raffaele BIANCO had been chenged to some Belgian plater who I had never heard of called Radja NAINGGOLAN !!!!!!!!!!
So my hot italian prospect has been replaced by some nomark Belgian.
This is not fair play and is out of order (whoever did that)
My Bianco should be restored to me and Radja NAINGGOLAN should be placed back at Piacenza...that is fair don't you think?

We are now in the 3rd season and in overall preformances over the past seasons I think Lawrence Lakeland who manages Cardiff City has been the best manager so far!
Season 1 ; Division 3 finished as Winners
Season 2 ; Dvision 2 promoted as runners up
    Season 3 ; Currently 2nd in Division 1
    Nice one Lawrie!

Leigh assures fans he is to remain at Bolton.
After Bolton yet again brushed their fingers against the EC1 crown only to have it snatched away by one of the big clubs, their were rumours that Dave Leigh may eventually throw in the toweland walk away from Bolton.
    Dave Leigh said;
" We consistantly battle at the top against clubs much bigger than us and if we get a result against Arsenal then that means we have finished in the top 5 for the past 4 seasons.
No time for crying about what might have been, we still have a chance of grabbing the runners-up honour (again!) and we have to now look to next season!
Some new faces hopefully will be arriving and I have decided to trim the size of our youth squad and some will be up for sale!"

    Blackburn 1 Bolton 1
Juan Pablo Sorin was the star of the show as Bolton earned a well-earned point at Lancashire rivals Blackburn.
They move another point ahead of Leeds who seemed assured of 3 points before the game but they were suprsingly defeated 3-1 at home to relegation haunted Bristol City.
A tough game at home to Hull City is the next hurdle.
Leeds face a tough away tie at never-say-die Blackpool.
The signing of Kew Jaliens was in the nick of time it seems as Marco Caneira stupidly got himself sent off and a 3 match ban for hacking down Frederic Kanoute.
Bolton old-boy, Bruno N'Gotty's ancient legs just could'nt carry him as Antonio Marco Senna ran rings round him in their personal midfield battle.
Hernan Crespo has put in some decent performances but has been a tad toothless in front of goal during the last few games.
Manager Dave Leigh has challenged him to score at least a brace against Hull and gain the wanderers another 3 points towards dreamland!

Dave Leigh's view from the touchline.
This is the first of an irregular appraisal of EC1.
Very flattering comments from Mr Mohr.
I am suprised that his Sheffield United has slipped out of the running for promotion as he signed some very good players.
Hopefully he may make a spurt as the final hurdle to get in the top three but it is a very big ask.
I feel next season with a couple of good signings he will be there or thereabouts.
He recently tried to take Lucas Neill on loan, myself and the player were happy with the offer but for some reason, our chairman in his ultimate wisdom decided not to let the deal go through.
It annoyed me as barring an injury or suspension to Christian Zaccardo, Lucas Neill will probably not feature.
he has only made one start and two sub apperances for us all season and first team football playing for 'The Blades' would have done him good.
Lucas Neill, said to me in training that he would have loved the oppurtunity to play under Mr Mohr.
I see Mr Memic has taken over at Aston Villa after only two days being in charge at Blackpool. I have to say that that decision suprised me.
Blackpool made consecutive promotions under John Gledhill and established themselves as a formidable top division outfit.
There is world class throughout the squad and from what Mr Memic said they had a decent enough bank balance, not enough to buy another top player but at least theywould have ben in the black still come the new injection of cash at the end of the season.
Villa have a great squad and despite the fact that they had large sums of cash to bring in players, (Mr Memic has already spent some of that).
I think it is to late for Villa this season and I think they will be languishing in Dvision 3 next year.
    I hope I am wrong but I don't think I will be.
This is why I think the decision to leave Blackpool was a strange one, as if all goes as Mr Memic plans, Villa will take at least two seasons to get back to the top division, which is where Blackpool already are!
Now on to everyone's favourite little rascal, Ryan Delf.
After his heroics last season, his Southampton team has been as impressive as a wet **** in season 6.
Mr Delf made big noises about wanting to sell Julian Escude and when he recieved an offer which was a hefty war-chest, he turns it down?
Don't get me wrong, I made a great signing from him in taking Antonio Marcus-Senna to The Reebok, who has taken over club duties after Kevin Nolan's loss of form.
A short while ago I thought Southampton were flirting dangerously with the dreaded bottom 3, but he has turned it around recently and has moved up the table.
The 3 Top Division new boys, Crystal Palace, Plymouth Argyle and Bristol City are finding life very diffucult.
For the first time in EC1 history we may see the 3 that came up go straight back down.
Looking down the lower divisions Sunderland and Wigan Athletic who were Division 1 teams at the beginning are seeming to start to make a fist of it and before long may just get back to where they were.
Bradford City under Gabrile Imperiantino are doing very well in Division 4 as the previous manager Hannegrave BenHen dragged them into the gutter.
Manchester City are starting to rise from the ashes and steadying the ship after free-falling down through the divisions.
Colin Barker is doing ok in what has to be a very diffucult job.
Some decent signings and they will be going for promotion next season.
I was asked recently if the champagne is on ice ready for a possible triumph at the end of the season.
The bottle of champagne has not even been bought from the shop yet!
Hernan Crespo is leading from the front and currnetly leading the Division 1 scoring chart with 16 goals in 21 apperances, he is also on course to finish as Division 1's Player of the Season.
I bought him from Chelsea for 6.4m when I first took over at Bolton and the season after he won Division 1's Golden Boot award by scoring 20 goals.
Definately the best signing I have made to date.
Juan Pablo Sorin has been a rock for us and really has been another excellent signing.
No offence to Ze Roberto but I would take players from Argentina over Brazilians any day!
Another Argentina player Gabriel Paletta who is on loan at Manchester City and Andrés Imperiale who is improving all the time, will be two world class players in the future.
This brings me onto the subject of youth players.
This season clubs seem to be siging youth players just because they have just laced their boots up!
The idea seems to be to sign a dozen unknowns in the hope that one of them will rise to the level required.
In the meantime these clubs are wasting money in these players wages.
All the youth players that I have had sign for me at Bolton have been exstensively researched before we have offered them a contract.
I am not saying that every youth player we have signed will make it, but there is a better chance that they will.
For example, I signed Juan Mata from real Madrid after exstensive research on the player.
We paid the sum of 2.1m for him and he now commands a transfer value of over 7m and he is only 19!
Jonny Evans and Theo Walcott are two of our youth players that are definately headed for the big time!

Ze Roberto has recovered from his long term injury and is now training to be fit for a massive home tie against Chelsea.

    Tonight! Bolton's GRUDGE match!
Tonight Bolton visit Selhurst Park, home of Division 1 new boys Crystal Palace.
Dave Leigh's super-whites will be going all out to shoot down The Eagles.
    Dave Leigh said when asked where the grudge came from;
"Last season we recieved a paltry offer for Lucas Neil fron Hewett (Ben Hewett ; The manager of Palace).
I told him he was having a laugh and in response I recieved a very derogatory reply about my players and a wish that we would get relegated.
Well tonight my players are going to make Hewett eat his words when they destroy his team.
Kevin Nolan is still incensed and my team captain has lit the flames of war amongst his team-mates.
It won't be pretty or fancy, it will be a battle, expect some injuries and bookings!"
Kevin Nolan ; Ready for battle!

BATTLE AT THE TOP OF DIVISION 1
The race for the league title is really hotting up!
Seven teams in with a realistic chance with the possibilty of Liverpool getting in amongst the pack!
7 games to go in Season 5 and Wednesday night's programme boasts some interesting games, including two North-West darbies and an all North-East darby.
Newcastle, Southampton and Bolton take on teams battling for their Division 1 survival whilst Blackpool, Hull City and Leicester City face very strong oppursition.
Blackburn travel to Deepdale which is never easy.
    As Saints manager Ryan Delf famously said recently;
    "It's tense!"
